Israfel looked around, he was in a good spot he thought, even if he hadn't gone very far down into the mines themselves. Setting all his things down, he pulled out the heavy as jack pickax. Why the troll had given him an ax he wasn't sure. it was pretty dangerous. He could poke out an eye. Of he could turn the ax into a hax.
Wait. That wasn't how it worked.
Shrugging the siren got to digging, humming a tune from his childhood. Perhaps he'd find candy. Perhaps not. In any case...he wondered how to hax with an ax.

___Puff Daddy peeked into the entrance of the mine shaft to see students hard at work, mining for those rocks that were strangely sweet.

___ARF!___As soon as the bark escaped, she ran away as quickly as her stubby legs could take her. The noise echoed deep into the mine before the whole place shook briefly, causing some rock candies to fall from the walls and ceiling.

Kazuka had finally rested enough to try again at finding the candies. He stood up from where he sat and continued on farther into the mine, again keeping the lamp on his belt. He stopped after a short time and started to get to work on the walls. It was quickly evident though that this area didn't hold what he was looking for so he moved on.

Kazuka stopped a short ways yet again, deciding on taking a more planned, grid approach to looking. He once again held the pick axe and started to chip away at the walls at a steady pace meant to not tired him out. As he worked he mentally went over what other types of things be might stumble across while in the mines. Of course rocks would be the obvious first on the list. But he turned his attention back to the walls and decided to move on a bit farther as it didn't seem to be anything there.

So far his grid approach didn't seem to be leading any positive results. This he figured since the next area he had chosen to stop at was also bare. The only good thing, he figured, was that it at least showed him where the rock candy was not. He once again moved a bit farther.

Ah, finally, he struck candy. Kazuka chipped carefully around the quickly revealing candy so as to not brake them. Once it was out of the walls he brushed the off slightly then put them into his pack with the other six. Maybe his grid idea wasn't such a bad approach after all.

Kazuka had stayed with in the general area of the last find of his to look more but once again didn't find anything. He sat down on a smallish boulder to rest after his last attempt, tired yet again. He counted this time working as a success even though he only found three candies as it was still farther progress towards a goal. He sat the pack down beside him and just relaxed for a time.

"Oh questions! Feel free to ask away. I will answer as truthfully as possible." Muka nodded enthusiastically, his head making a bird-like bobble on his shoulders. "If your species frowns upon non-conformity and the pursuit of education.. how did you come to be here? Were you given external assistance? Outside of the.. err.. hive did you say?" He turned his golden eyes back upon the trash heaps and this time put a little elbow grease into it. There was a particularly large slimy trash object wedged in that he'd mentally decided was his new project to hack out of there. (( Daily attempt 1: 0 Total: 6 ))

Vero shook its head first. "You misunderstand. Education is most certainly pursued, but they do not always, or often, agree with the methods given by other species or classes," it explained. "They prefer to dole out education themselves. But yes, we did have assistance in arriving here. Our caretaker made an accord with several adults."
It tinked at several more piles of trash and rock. "Our turn. Do you have a flock, Master Ulmuka? Where is it do you return from here?"

"From what little I've learned Strix do not live in communities. Not that I know of." He continued his mining, staring at the large lump he was digging into. "Very solitary except for producing scarelings. I lived with my mother when I was very small. Something about needing to be with her in order to survive my early days." Strix required being suckled in order to live.
"My mother is a strix but I almost never see her." His smile remained static despite that fact. "I live with my father. He's a demon. When I return home it is to his grounds here in Halloween. I have many brothers and sisters though!"
He giggled again. "All demons also." A piece of candy tumbled out of the crater he was picking out. Muka let out a soft 'scree' of excitement.

Vero made a small face with what was available as far as facial muscles were concerned for it. "Solitary by nature, but with so many siblings? We do not understand." Did the two come in contact and explode, metaphorically speaking? "Numbers mean safety. Why not have another parent help raise their progeny?"
And then Ulmuka scree'd again, though at least this time he kept it softer. Vero honestly was wary of the tunnel possibly collapsing on them.

Imagining that this might be a rather ponderous question for the strix, and somewhat paranoid of possibly bothering him too much, Vero allowed Ulmuka some silence in their conversation. It attempted another pile, wondering idly if Astro had gotten lost.
Nothing came up in its attempts.

His own mind wandering, Vero considered something. In many attempts to catch wild minipets, it often found that a certain one reminded it very much of the strix. In fact . . . It recalled several times coming across this:
Its eyes widened as a surprised pick-axe fell onto the rocky wall, producing nothing. Was it perhaps Ulmuka himself, "trolling" Vero as some might call this?

No! Certainly the strix might enjoy his scree-ing and laughing, but . . . Ulmuka wouldn't disable his traps occasionally out of boredom, would he?
Of course not. Logic dictated that the strix wouldn't have any idea where Vero stuck its traps anyway. Unless . . . Unless he was following it!
This is nonsense, it thought, blinking as it shuffled bits of trash away. He does not appear to be the vengeful type.
Vengeful, maybe not. But trickster? Hummm . . .

"Well my father is an incubus." Which of course meant that one of his ultimate goals was to sire as many children as possible. "He does not often factor in 'mothering' but it is his nature. I do not blame him." Muka quite admired his father for his success in his ultimate goal. He hoped to one day achieve such success in his own 'monstering'.
"Having a strix child was a bit of an accident." He giggled again but was unaware of Vero's inner musings about scarefari sabotage.
