"Lucian, you?" Lucian asked, looking up at Seth. "Also, come moon high, I'll be near the tree. Whistle thrice and I'll come," he said and entered a deserted alley, taking off his coat. "And if you need me before then come to the top of that guard tower over there," he added, pointing towards the guard tower near the wall.

Seth nodded and smiled at Lucian's understanding of his language,"Lieutenant Colonel Seth Wrayburn. Pleasure to meet you, Lucian." He said and extended his arm out to the daemon. He made a note and burned it into his brain: By the oak, whistle thrice. His eyes were now a more relaxed green, like the leaves on the tree, and the light reflecting there in his eyes look like the water passing through a small mossy creek. The combination of the dark uniform and the horse could have been something intimidating, and yet the person and the animal itself seemed to assure that they didn't mean any danger to others, they were a pair suited to serve the public.

Lucian shook Seth's hand. "So far, this had been an interesting day," he said as he retreated further into the alley. He spread his wings out, streaching them for the flight ahead, even if it was a short one. His wings were the color of the darkest blue, bordering on the edge of black. The wing span was twelve feet wide, just over double his height. He let them drop to the ground like they were a cape. "See you later," he said and raised his wings high above him, bring them down with enough force to launch him up about six feet above the ground. As his wings continued to beat the air, he stabalized where he was. He looked around one last time before setting off high into the sky. As he flew up, something flutered to the ground. It was a picture of him and his family before his wings grew, almost thirteen years ago now.

Seth was about to turn away until he noted something of a light color futter down at the edge of the alley's shadow.
'Lucian doesn't have any feathers...' The officer had taken note of that, and then saw from it's color, shape, and the appearance of its texture that it was a piece of paper of some sort.
Seth rolled his eyes, and dismounted once more off the horse, and walked over to the paper, already feeling a breeze to come he stepped on the corner trapping it, and then crouched plucking the piece of paper from under the sole of his military boots. The officer straightened up and squared their shoulders and stared at the picture. Faces smiling back in sepia, frozen there, but from it's look it was old, the corners themselves were folding in on themselves. Seth looked back up, put the picture in his breastpocket and went back to the Irish Hunter and mounted on its back again, adjusting the blanket so that it fell even on the horse. "Well Dahy we're already running late." taking the reigns, he gave two soft kicks to the steed's side, and with that the horse bolted off, heading back to the station for the Fourth Company's unit. The beat of the hooves sounded by metal crashing against hooves, and then the roar of the wind in the officer's ear. He let go of the reigns with one hand and fastened down his cap while managing to keep his balance and took hold of the reign again. The horse slowed down on its turns and dodged in and out between pedestrians, but would quickly speed up. At one point a merchant couldn't clear his cart of out of the way and Seth timed a tap to the side, in which the horse already knowing sped up and jumped over the cart, Seth on the other hand had to keep himself hugged to the horse and then elevate himself so the crash wouldn't be as severe when the horse met ground again and kept on running, slowly he leaned abit and sat back down.

Lucian flew high above town, looking down and building a mental map of the area. He located the tree with ease, marking it with a red x in his head. He then decended to the guard tower he was to stay at. As he neared the roof, he made a quick turn, reducing his speed just enough for him to make a quiet landing. He didn't bother with going inside, it was nice out and he hated small enclosed spaces. He folded his wings and put his coat back on. He then reached into his pocket, and upon feeling nothing, began a frantic search of all his pockets. "Dang it," he said and sat down with a thump. "Where did I loose it?" he asked himself, hoping to find the answer in his memory. He laid down, looking up at the clouds deep in thought, wondering where he lost the picture of his family.

Goff drew a breath, The Gasmask morphing the sated sound into an almost wheeze. The green eyes remained staring at the woman for a moment longer. " Very well. " He began, nodding slightly. " The fellow officer has told me the work is worth near any wait. I will need it repaired madam. " Geoff reached his hand into his leather jacket, the silver buttons sliding from the fastenets. The man's eyes rolled for a second in concentration, and then geoff would pull a very wide openned hand gun from it's holster. He opened the side, slid the end back, and pulled a small canister from a hole. He put the gun back together, and slid the canister back into a pocket. " The firing mechanism, class A - 14, is defective, and either needs to be replaced, or fixed. To boot, there is a clog within the gas delivery system. " Geoff nodded lightly again, and smiled behind his mask. " May I ask the prices madam? " He asked, setting the gun itself on the counter and sliding it towards her ever so slightly.

The woman looked over the gun and entered it into the book. "My, it does appear that the military has had the misfortune of many disabled weapons. I hope it isn't sabotage." she said offhandedly. Looking back to the officer as she ripped out the copy slip, "My husband, Nim, is out right now, so I can only give rough estimates. I don't know how complex this type of fix is, or the difficulty to acquire the replacement, but I think that you can return on Monday afternoon, provided relative simplicity."

Matilda swung a section of hair back over her shoulder as she fought with the spring to position it. A sharp end of the wire had already made an invisible cut along the side of her thumbnail, which discolored a line around the nail with blood not dried that she had not rinsed off. "Ha!" exclaimed the girl, having gotten the spring in place. She stretched and looks to the displaced pieces of the machine. "While my victory is solid, it was only for the battle and not the war." With this her voice was quiet, as though speaking to herself while in a trench. While a small sound my have been heard from her exclamation, the door would have blocked the statement. Now she holds a screwdriver over her head and announced, still hushed enough to not allow the sound to leave the room, "Troops! Onward to battle, we shall be victorious in the coming battle, and the war!"
Perhaps the girl, over the years, had spent too much time shut up in this room, alone.

Seth glanced over, and in a matter of seconds was joined in by another officer on horseback, the steed running beneath him was of an average run-of-the-mill calavry breed, it was bigger, but not quite as fast as the Irish Hunter. The Lieutenant Colonel kept his stoic expression, and just looked over to his side.
"Hey Seth."
"That is Lieutenant Colonel to you, Fordham."
"Aww... you're no fun... Lieutenant Colonel." The lad, was perhaps only a few years Seth's junior, perhaps even months, but either way he seemed to know Seth well enough for him to try and forget formalities with his superior. "But... you're running late."
"And of course you would know this..." Seth retorted, "I was running errands and it took a while to have the order get written down."
"Ahhhh..... So you say, so you say. L.C..." Fordham nodded nonchalantly, he had to urge his ride further to keep up with the Dahy.
"So... L.C... Do you want to race?" He chuckled, and then grinned, daring the officer.
Seth smirked and gave him a determined glare. "Dahy will leave that excuse of a horse you got anyday."
"Ho-so? Well.. Hyah." And the Second Lieutenant and his steed went sprinting off faster. Seht on the other hand kept Dahy at his current speed and would stay that way for a while, Fordham had made a huge mistake.

Within a mile or so Seth urged Dahy on, and the horse sprinted off faster, within a handful of minutes did they catch up and then in two seconds passed Fordham and his horse who was trotting along. Seth smirked, and in time had reached the Station before the Second Lieutenant could. The structure was a large series of building put together, and enclosed by tall iron fences, with a guard overwatching the gate, "Yield to Lieutenant Colonel Seth Wray burn..." He glanced over finally seeing the Fordham had finally caught up, "And Second Lieutenant Fordham." The guard nodded and in time the gate groaned sliding back to clear the way for the men and the animals.

As the woman mentioned something about sabatoge, Geoff lightly laughed. " I can assure you, when in a time of peace like the one we are enjoying, the threat of sabatoge is at such a low percentage the idea of it is near impossible. " Geoff nodded lightly. " I am willing to wait the alloted time madam. Please contact the base to the north of the town when the repair is complete. Ask for a Captain, High class, Geoff. I am the only Geoff round, so things are understood. " Geoff nodded yet again.

" Will I pay now, Or at a later date ma'am? " Geoff asked, before his interest was piqued by an exlamation from the back room. Instead of inquiring about the exlamation, Geoff choose to ignore it. If the woman had a need to hide a worker, then that was her buisness, not Geoff's.

"Understandable, " she replied to his statement about sabotoge, "it just seemed odd to have 11 weapons brought here in the same day." The woman held out the yellow slip for the man, it was folded in half and held between her left index and middle fingers.
"Payment is due at pick-up. If you payment is not given the items will be sold for payment. It is a simple system that has show to work well." responded the woman. The man seemed strangely expressive, despite his face being hidden in a gas mask, it was a skill she found intriguing.
"I will have one of my children alert the base when it is ready but you will have to come here with this slip to pick up the item and pay."

Geoff nodded yet again, and took the paper gently from the woman's clasped fingers. While most people would look at the slip, trying to find out prematurly the price of something, Geoff did the exact opposite, and stashed the yellow slip in a side pocket. He had heard the repairs were well worth the price, maybe in some cases even double the charge presented.

" Elleven repairs you say? My, That is a large number. " Geoff said, shaking his head ever so lightly this time. He thought for a moment, that obvious enough by his so called expresive green eyes. They rose to the ceiling for a brief moment, Geoff lowering his elbows to the counter top. " that will probably be due to the recruits I suspect then. This generation of men aren't the smartest out there. Not that they need to be at the moment madam, mind you. But anyhow, that is an eyebrow raising fact that has just been presented. I will bring it up at the base, and see if there is some underlying issue. " Geoff rose again, his posture now ramrod straight. His hand shot out, palm open with fingers splayed in the universal sign of a handshake. " Thank you for the information, and the up - and - coming repair ma'am. Send your husband my regards. " As the woman clasped his hand, with a very firm grip mind, Geoff responded with his own fir grip, and let go after the usual three shakes. He then turned curtly after releasing her hand, and began for the door. Upon reaching his target, th captain opened the wooden frame gently, and walked once again to the street, offering a slight wave before the door closed shut.

The woman looked down at the hand, and returned it with only a bow of her head. It was a gesture of men, used to show lack of weapons, although they were still likely present. Instead her own was not that of offering a hand to be kissed but straight to a slow nod, one that would show submission, trust and no interest in doing harm. The mother of two favored this gesture because it not only showed trust instead of requesting it, but it lacked the need to put away weapons first - it simply held more meaning and purpose.

In the leeway of time Geoff had hopped onto a transport, which took him from town, and up the two to three mile pass, leading to the Northern Base. Aptly named " RidgeStone " by the army, This base overlooked a deep drop down towards the waiting sea. Jut at the tallest of the base's towers, one could see the edge of shore, and the two bordering nations across the sea. As Geoff arrived, he was lighy hailed, the men saluting him for not only rank, but simple respect. It seemed the man was well liked about the army and it's many men and women.

The an had valuable information. Valuable wasn't the correct word though, was it? More like... interesting. This interesting information almost begged to be told, let loose to waiting ears. And as if to prove this, Geoff made haste to his superior officer's barrack, and knocked on the door. Announcing himself as High Captain Geoff, A deep voice welcomed the fellow. After casual discussion was traded, Captain Geoff and Commandant Anderson talked over the readiness of repairs, and if some sort of conspiratorial sabatoge might be the culprit. At first, Commandant Anderson made the same point Geoff himself had made, " We are at peace boy! Why would there be anything of this sort going on with our lot? " before gently laughing it off. Geoff persisted, seeing this as a possible serious matter. After a few minutes of further discussion, The Commandant saw the light so to speak, and gav Geoff a series of orders.

" Alright then boy-o. I'll write up some official buisness later, But for now, take the word of mouth orders. Yourself and up to two other officers will inquire about this possible scandal. All intell will be given to myself, Commandant Anderson, and from there, we will all discus the possible sabatoge ordinance with a group of Intelligence Officers. "

Geoff would follow these orders well, and knew who to ask for help. He asked around base for the names of certain officers, One who he found readily available. Junior Corporal Clem Johansen, A simple, small town kid turned Proffesional officer. Only twenty two, the kid had made it far up the ladder already. The other Officer Geoff would like to join him was somewhere off in town, odd enough in the middle of the night.

Instead of doing the smart thing, and waiting till morning, Geoff asked Clem what to do.

The young man laughed lightly, rubbing the back of his neck and touselling his hat as he did. " Well seerr... I'da say we should go an' look fer him now, Get him ready and such. " The young man's southern drawl was heavy in his speech, no matter how he tried to hide it. Clem then smiled. " But it's up to you, Captain sir. "

Geoff nodded, understanding what the boy said. A wheeze - breath later, and Geoff nodded again. " I agree with your idea young man. " He said, turning towards the gates. " We will need transport. We will aquire two horses, and ride into town to find Mr. WrayBurn. " Geoff said simply, before begining his curt walk.

It took about twenty minutes at a brisk trot, and both Geoff and Clem made it into town.

Using information gleened from men in base, Geoff assumed Seth WrayBurn was in the eastern most side of town, where exactly in east town, unknown. The to men would disembark their horses, leaving them with the Army Horse Stables in the gats, before making their way east.

Seth had chosen for today to bring Dahy with him, after all it was his horse. He bought the steed and had trained it, until it was time for war, and the two as a pair made their mark there.
"Pssst.. Neila..Neila, PSSSTT!"
Both Seth's and Dahy's head perked up to the night sky, Dahy's ears twitching about in every which way. It was then Seth noted a small mouse scamper up to the edge of the wall of the alley the were next to.
"Pssssht! Yeah, down here." The mouse said in a loud whisper to the officer.
Seth rolled his eyes and stepped into the alley and crouched to the mouse, plucking the mouse by it's nape Seth glared at the rodent. "Watch where and how you use that name!" He growled to the mouse in a hushed voice.
"Sorry!" The mous winced away, a little frightful of Seth, but he then steadied as the officer placed him on his palm. "But, there travels word of officers of high part of town are looking for you. They were be asking about from people of where they were be look you."
"Might I ask who these officers are?" Seth said already having deciphered the mouse's poor language skills, and jotting down mental notes.
"Um... um... I don't know, but there is big masked man, with two smaller no-mask officers." The mouse made himself tall and big spreading his arms out and high and then shrunk back into himself.
"Mask?" Seth inquired a bit further, there were only a few officers known to wear masks, but he already had one of them in mind.
"Yes! mask make big man breath heavy, like so:" And the mouse proceeded to mimick the sound of Geoff's breathing, a little awkward sounding as the mouse tried to make it sound as deep and raspy as possible for his small size, cupping his paws around the front of his snout.
"I know who you mean now. But now what in God's name would they want from me?" The officer glanced over his shoulder and then back to the mouse.
"I don't know." The mouse shurgged, and looked to Seth with big, dark apologetic eyes, "I just come fast as I can to talk you." the mouse now twiddled his tiny thumbs and avoided looking to the officer's eyes afraid he'd be angry.
Seth smiled, and lowered down his hand, "Well thankyou. I don't have anything of which to give you as a form of gratitude, but if I can ask you, can you pass a long a message?
The mouse looked up and smiled nodding, and clutched at his tail his round little ears attentive.
"Tell Gramma Benty that I'll be home late."
"Yes, M'am! Ugh- I mean Miss. No I mean Sir!" The mouse saluted and then his mind scrambled, but he bounded off before he could ramble off any more.
Seth straightened up and set his hands on his hips, and shook his head, "My, my, it seems like the work never ends." He looked over his shoulder to the dark cinnamon Irish Hunter and sighed, turning fully to the horse now and walked his way back, taking the reigns and the two ambled back around, "We should see what Geoff wan-" A yawn rose from deep within his tired body, the officer covered his mouth but then reminded himself he had to stay alert, especially now of all late hours, which with that brought back the cold but wicked hot green flame in his eyes, and his mouth straightened bringing the stoic expression back.
Man and horse passed steadily under the dim and warm lights of the street lamps.
