Ataro could not see Wayne's face at first, but she did hear the strange fluctuations in his voice. It frightened her almost as much as the words he had spoken. She moved out of the way as he backed up and dropped the gun. Seeing that the other girl and the newcomer seemed to have started a conversation, she cautiously took the gun before following Wayne.
"Wayne...?" she watched his face. "...Are you okay? ...he's offering us a place to stay...."

Wayne was distant, he almost looked through Ataro when he answered her. "Yeah... It's all good now. I just have a headache. I'll be okay, I promise. But... Lets go, now." Wayne went back to the other two.
"We pack whatever goods we can carry, quickly. We'll follow you to your 'safe place'. But we need to act fast. I hear more rain coming, and I'm not getting caught in it." Wayne picked a small toolbox filled with an assortment of repair tools up off the ground, and a half full carton of gasoline.
He looked to Ataro. "Ataro, can you get the generator? Make sure to wind up the cords, it's still wet outside, and we don't need to drag them through the water." "Everyone else, grab what you can. Especially containers, or clothing. We're moving." Wayne could feel it inside him, getting closer to bursting out again. Time is short.
The generator is about three feet wide, and two feet tall. It has handles on either side of it, and required the use of both hands to carry. It weighs 40lbs. There is a long bundle of rope on the ground. The revolver may sill need to be carried, as well as the small box of (X12)ammunition. There is a pair of extra large black overalls hanging on the wall, with heavy black water-wader boots on the floor beneath it. They are baggy, and have many pockets. There are several toolboxes around the room, most of which are small, and empty.
Choose what to carry carefully, and don't over-encumber yourself.
Notice: The rain is close, it is sprinkling outside. The wind is picking up.
The city is silent...

((Question. Are they all currently in clothing, or did the lab people just have them 'furred'?))

The owl girl picked up the coil of rope and hung it over her shoulder. She looks outside to see that it's starting to rain. "Well I think we better go, before it starts pouring."
She looks over the overalls and the boots. They're several sizes too large for her. Even though they'd help keep her dry, there's no way she could run or fly in them if she needed to.
Picking up the box of ammunition she asks Ataro "Does the gun need reloaded?"

"I'll get the generator." I stated stopping Ataro, "I'm stronger and I'll be faster caring it, I don't want anything slowing us down. Grab some of those toolboxes. I can use them on a food run tomorrow" I started to coil up the cord for the generator after I put my sword in a sheath on my back. "Let me know when everybody is ready to go."

Wayne saw that everything was going along smoothly. He decided to head up top, and wait for the others. "I'll be at the doors, lets get this show on the road."
Stepping lightly up the ten stairs, Wayne passed the dragon-esque man with a quick, vicious glance. Wayne could feel that urge inside him, that sick shadow of his past creeping back out of his subconscious.
'I'm coming for you Wayne. You will die.' The voice in his head was quiet, but still audible. As if it was still miles away from him. Or more like, just down the road.
Stepping closer to the open doors of the apartment, Wayne remembered that the bed fell out of a window on the sixth story. He wanted to find out what it was so badly, but something told him that was a bad idea...
'I pushed it out the window, Wayne. I wanted to bring you to these people. I'll kill them, I'll kill them all, and I'll make you do it.' 'Shut up, and leave us alone! I ******** hate you! I wont let you hurt them!' Wayne thought back.
Wayne's head suddenly felt as if it was splitting apart, he dropped the gasoline and the toolbox, and grabbed his head, hunching over in pain. 'Tell me to shut up! TELL ME AGAIN! I am HATE! You can't hate me!' I am Hate! I am Hate! I am Hate!' The pain stopped, and the dark voice faded away... The battle in his mind was over, for now.
Acting quickly, so that no one noticed, Wayne picked up the items he dropped, and continued to look out into the steady rain...
"Hurry up guys... They're coming... It's coming..." Notice: The rain is steadily getting worse, and the sky is darkening more, and more. The thunder is not far off, and the wind is blowing hard. It will be night in one hour.
The city is still eerily absent of sound, despite the rain, and thunder...

"Alright..." Ataro watched Wayne for a moment longer before moving on. Hearing the owl's question, she looked at the revolver in her hand. "I think the gun's alright for now. Just make sure not to lose that box; I get the feeling we're really going to need the ammunition." She began to wrap the generator cords around her hand when Rugaard came over and instructed otherwise. "Okay," she said with a nod. Ataro placed the revolver and keys in one toolbox, then lifted it and another quickly. As she lifted them she too noticed the overalls, however she faced the same problem as the other girl. If anyone was going to wear them, it would have to be one of the males in the group. Seeing Wayne go, Ataro began to follow, but hesitated at the bottom of the steps as the brief memory of the monster flashed in her mind. She shook her head to herself and continued. We'll be fine. We'll be fine, she thought with a glance at the revolver.

I was getting the generator together when Wayne went up the stairs. The look he gave me was unforgettable. Yet I couldn't remember where I had seen it before. About half a minute later I saw Altro Fallow him. She must have known more about what was happening to Wayne then I could remember. I was starting to remember things from my past. Back when I was still human. That look and that voice was bringing things back. Those memories could help or hurt both of us. After I had finished coiling the generator, I lifted it with a "hup" and then I walked over to the owl. "We haven't been formally introduced." I said with a smile, "my name is RuGaard. You've never said who you where. It would be nice to get to know you more."

The owl smiled. "Well hello, RuGaard. I'm- uh..." She paused for a moment. "The others came up with their names, but I just can't think of a name for myself."
She started to walk towards the stairs. "Do you have any ideas?"

Ataro caught up to Wayne and stood there uneasily. She glanced around the lobby, then at the boiler room door. 'They' could be anywhere. Eventually her eyes drifted to Wayne. He was looking away, at the rain outside. He seemed... upset? Bothered by something. Well, who wouldn't be, in this situation? Her gaze moved to the rain as well. "How long have you been... 'awake'?" Ataro asked. She studied the way the raindrops fell, bouncing off the pavement. Ataro thought they almost looked like little BB bullets. She resisted the urge to place a toolbox down and reach out to feel the water.

"There is this one name that's stuck in the back of my mind." I told The owl. "Whistela. It seems to me that you could use it. I see no reason why not." I started to walk towards the stairs. "Come on. I think the others are ready to go. Grab what you need and and come down stairs with me." I stood with one foot on the stairs and gestured with my hand to come over.

Wayne was distant, his words were soft, bearing an undertone of sadness. "I never really woke up, Ataro. I'm still in that damn nightmare that I have been in since I was put in hypersleep. Maybe I did leave the institution, but it's still following me... The only difference is, now I can feel, this isn't a dream... I can die."
Wayne took a deep breath of the cold misty air. "But god, does it feel great to be outside..." He took a step out into the rain, tilted his head back, and stared into the swirling grey sky, rain falling onto his face... "Ne me quitte pas, ma petit chérie..." He said into the rain, letting the drops fall into his moth with each word. Whoever he was speaking to, he didn't say, but he felt it should be obvious...
Then it happened. Wayne slowly opened his eyes, his head still tipped backward. A Flash back, to his childhood...
(Eight years before.) "What are you doing Spike?" "No!" "Stop! That hurts!" "Ms. May, hel-Mph, Mmmm! Mh!"... ...
Lightning struck the top of a nearby building, snapping Wayne out of his dream. The sky was blackening quickly, the rain was starting to smash down, and the wind was gusting hard now.
Wayne stepped back inside, as debris was blowing around in the streets. "We should wrap this up quickly, I hope we don't have to walk too far in this storm." Then he heard a sound that stood out, it was the clear sound of a bell. A large bell. It rang only twice, and then stopped.
Notice: It will be night in less than one hour. The thunder and lightning are beating down on the city with rain and wind. The sky is almost blackened by storm clouds.
Small streams of water are running down the streets, and alleys.

Despite Wayne's despondent words Ataro couldn't help but smile when he stepped out into the rain. "It really does," she said, studying him with a slight sideways tilt of her head. Then he spoke the foreign words, and her smile faded. She found she understood what he was saying, but instead of making her happy, the words brought on a mournful feeling for reasons she could not recall. She sensed Wayne suddenly become tense, and she became nervous again. When the lightning struck, Ataro jumped and dropped the toolboxes she had been holding. "No...!" Immediately she bent down and was relieved to find the toolboxes had landed in an upright position, and the revolver was still there. It had become a symbol of protection to her; if she had it she had a means of defending herself. Or trying to, anyway. She stood and lifted the toolboxes again. "It's probably going to get worse before it gets any better," Ataro said in response to Wayne's last statement. Her ears twitched at the sound of a bell. It made her wonder if there were more like themselves out there. It made her her wonder why she and the others had been changed to what they now were. She found it hard to believe it had been done for no reason. They had, after all, been taught many things any ordinary human would have been taught. Again, she remembered. The french. Why not try it out? she thought, glancing at Wayne. Might bring back a few memories. "Alors... vous parlez français."

"Whistela, I like the sound of it," she said and smiled at RuGaard. She walked down the stairs, keeping pace with RuGaard. She heard lightning hit something nearby. Reaching the bottom of the staircase she asks "Do you think we'll make it?"
