Ilori and Belinda

Arafel
Arafel was positioned under the monkey bars, arms extended underneith the hanging toddler. This was dangerous... Putting a toddler that couldn't even walk-er, slither yet on such a high thing... However, that was the problem. Ilori was having too much trouble slithering... and her above-average strength for climbing seemed to boost her young ego.

And it was. Ilroi had her tail-half wrapped tightly around one bar... smiling slightly as she seemed to defy gravity and lift her upper body up and to the next bar. Her hands grasped it, loosening her grip on the previous bar until she was hugging the new one. Her snake -half would then drop that bar, dangle a moment, then curl up around the next bar. The toddler completely unaware of the dangers that could hapen if she were to slip. But thats what Arafel was for.

Ballentine
The day was nice, and as a reward to her children Balletine took them all to the local park. Each one went off to do their own thing and thankfully was still under the watchful eye of the adult. Though while Mommy's attention was distracted on the brothers, Belinda was quick to sneek off to the jungle gym.

The tire swing was turning out to be her favorite, and easily she pushed and shoved the others around the swing away to claim it for herself. She was easily becoming known as the playground bully and most backed off.

Quickly feet ran around the tire while hands gripped the chains. At the top speed that she could go she'd hoist herself over for a whirl about! Dizzy is what it made her, small giggles escaping her lips as she slowly came to a stop, though her eyes caught something yellow on the close monkey bars.

"OOoooh!"

She lept from the tire, wobbling a little as she walked due to the previous engagement. Giggling she climbed the ladder up to the platform near the monkey bars, cocking her head to the side as she looked at Arafel.

"What's she dooin'?" She asked, her tail twitching behind her in a curious mannor. "My mommy doesn't like me on dos.. I fall. See." Her knee was offered to Arafel's point of view with a bandaid across it. "I missed da bar once too and fell on my bottom."

Arafel
Arafel's eye caught the sight of something moving through the other children, she didn't get a glance at the actions however. As soon as she looked away Ilori had made a tiny noise, causing Arafel to jump and jolt her attention back. She felt like she was driving a car for the first time again. Looking away, then getting jolted back to staring where she was supposed to.

Ilori Looked back, pointing with one hand at the inquisitive eden child that had seemingly poped out of nowhere. "Guul." She stated, giving a squeak as she lost her balance and 'fell.'
Arafel choked, arms out to catch her... but instead the child simply dangled from the bar with a tight hold frmo her tail, giving a tiny giggle. "Fuhn Fuhn!"

Arafel let out a breath she'd been holding, she reached up to Ilori to pluch the child from the monkey bars so she could turn her attention to the new comer. She smiled to the girl, cradling Ilori "Mm. I don't like her on them either... but she doesn't seem to fall like I do." She offered the bandaid a look of sympathy, leaning down to place Ilori on the safer sand below the bars. "Me too." Arafel smiled a bit, tugging back her sleeve to show her own bandaid across her elbow. The woman was a bit too childish at times... Climing a tree and falling out of it or something like that.

Ilori wobbled on the sand, trying to coil her lower half so she could gain blanace again, giving a tiny frown to the ground as though it had betrayed her.

Metaplot

My head is so jumbled.... something doesn't feel right, but things haven't felt right since Freize left. No, moreso it hasn't been right.

Freize's children have been so depressed... It's taken everything i have to keep them eating and playing. I'm not sure who would be considered the worst off... Cougar and chael seem to be handling it well, they cry sometimes but other than that they tend to keep their happy disposure. Umi is distant as allways, not much change. Akiva and Tariq I don't know all that well yet... I think Tariq is having a good amount of difficulties though.
And the twins ofcourse... Iteru and Futoeki haven't settled down yet... The other children may have become more used to Freize leaving for a little while, but when Iteru and Futoeki were born we hardly left their sides...

But... I'm most concerned about Spiro and Evarobby. Spiro has never been very open to anyone but freize... And with him leaving mysteriously I know soemone liek Spiro can't be taking it well, wether he shows it or not...

And Evarobby, he used to be a fairly entergetic child now seems kind of lethargic, spending alot of his time staring out the window... And before he had just started to inhance his ability to speak which is now regressing into silence again. Ilori seemed to peak his intrest... but then things started declining.

Ilroi became more irritable, perhaps it's something like teething... or her frustration with her slithering. Or maybe the weather has gotten colder than I realized... Reptiles tend to get more sleepy and whatnot when it's cold. Perhaps that's why she's been sleeping so much. Hopefully it's not because I'm causing stress to her... I don't think i've changed my attitudes yet.
And Eva just seems to be getting worse with his depressed symptoms... Wether it's because Freize isn't back after all this time and thats starting to wear down on him, or something else I'm unsure...

Ofcourse the other children seem to miss freize as well, even though they weren't as close as his more direct children...

I'm worried about everyone. And tired... Very tired. I have to stay happy for them though, if i get depressed it won't do anyone any good.

Please come back Freize....

Holiday split ups

Fingers idly rubbed a temple, a deep frown etched into her face, papers laid out on the table infront of her. Bills... Bills bills bills and more bills... She couldn't afford any of it. One could only last so long on one income, and finally the mass of kids she and Freize had taken in had overcome her ability to produce for them. With two parents working it was fine... But not like this, even some of the older kids were offering to help but she just couldn't.

Hatori chose to move out, taking Yuki with him, they kept in contact still. Ajani had stayed, and took to lazily helping about the house. As for the children their conditions only seemed to worsen as their state did. Her own kids had remained fairly calm throughout the mess, they missed Freize, and most of all missed the way their mom used to radiate cheer when he was around, but it wasn't the same hurt the ones Freize had adopted held. Evarobby and Spiro were the most torn, neither were the same... Completely and utterly heartbroken, both retreating into a world in their mind, often staring at objects in the house that reminded them of their passed father, or staring out the window waiting his return. Chael and Cougar seemed too young to understand, some of the others had grown and left, such as Umi and Tallis.

Grey eyes scanned over the numbers apon numbers, bright red letters that declayered "last notice!" As much as it killed her to break apart "the pack", there was no choice... If she kept them now it would just be for herself. With a deep inwardly torn sigh, she lifted herself from her seat, moving to the phone and only praying it hadn't gone out yet, she dialed a number, "Hello...? Yes... I beleive you adopted a child out to my..eh, husband; Freize..." She paused, swallowing hard and waiting for them to check their data. "About that..."

A new home

"Alright.. Here we are..." She eyed the apartment number, her key, doublechecking that they matched, and fussing with the complicated task of balancing boxes, an Ilori, and turning a key in a lock. It gave a click, and then the door poped open, giving a loud creak of protest.

The room that greeted them was less than pretty, the white walls had tints of brown where rust and mold had managed to climb up away from an invisible source of water. Arafel's smile wavered, stepping in and greeted with a damp musky smell. "Okay we have some leaking issues... but that's okay." She tried, moving to set the box in a corner.

The children that followed her in didn't complain, all biting their tongues in a classic "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Colette followed in first, placing her own pink bag alongside the box. Taikobo was next, with a box, and a strange ring tailed creature perched on his shoulder. He was also first to speak, "Can I call Yuki now?" he asked, giving a cute puppy dog eyes look to his mother. "Not yet... We don't have phone service. Maybe I cna find some change for you to use the payphone though..." She frowned alittle, shifting Ilori who was tightly curled against the warmth of her mom. Akira was soon in as well, eagerly moving past everyone after dropping his bag square on the middle of the floor, and checking the room out. And last were Iteru, moving in first with a wrinkled nose, and then Futoeki, with Takala at his side. THey too added their boxes to the pile, and Futoeki paused to shut the door behind him.

Arafel turned to the group, giving a weak smile, and running a shakey free hand through her hair. She'd had to sell their last house just to make enough to pay those bills and make it here... Hopefully now they could though. "We only have a few beds... So Colette, you'll be sleeping with Ilori. Taikobo and Akira, and Iteru and Futoeki. You'll have to share beds, and Colette and Ilori get their own room because they're girls." She explained, earning an aw from a few of the boys "Nownow... You guys get the bigger room, so go get your stuff set up!" She shouted the last, as though it might now be a contest, and eagerly, the boys took said implication of a contest and were rushing off with their things to the bigger room with a bed on either side.

Colette didn't run off, instead smiled and held her arms out to take Ilori. There was a toddler shift, which Ilori didn't seem to mind, instead more happy about this unpacking compitition. "Ilori help~" She chimed in to Colette, who nodded and grinned "Alright!" Gathering up her bag in one hand she headed off to the room "We get our own room, isn't that cool?"

Arafel held her smile until the children moved on into their rooms, then promptly dropped it as they all dissapered. Her head was pounding... and so, with the kids at that task, she moved over to her new bed; the couch, and plopped down, eyes falling shut. She still had to wire the phone line, buy god knew what to clean up that smell... it couldn't be healthy! And then Christmas was coming up... Her thoughts spun around like that a bit, until finally everything shut off to let her doze off for a few moments of peace.

Christmas~

Arafel hefted a sigh, eyes dragging groggily open after only a few hours of sleep as a chourus of children screaming "Santa came!" echoed through the small livingroom. "Mnn?" She mumbled, looking at the four boys now practically dragging her off the couch, Futoeki and Iteru had both arms, Tailobo had a leg, and Akira was following up with the foot of the leg, all pulling it was an easy feat to drag the full grown woman off with a loud thud against the hardwood floor.

All four stopped immediatly, eyes widening, a few tails tucked between legs as they all stood waiting for the impending scolding... Which, never came, it was Christmas afterall... "Ow~" she did whine, pouting at them. "Why'd you do that?", the responce was a group "Sorry!" and a "Are you okay?" from Iteru. With a smile and a nod, Arafel dragged herself up, looking to the set of Girls watching with equally wide eyes. Illori was held up by Colette's arm, "Well what did Santa get you?!" The mother asked the staring group, hoping to break the tension. A group of happy faces met her eyes, all startig up at once about what they got, save the little snake-girl, whom'd never seen a Christmas, and was left with a puzzled expression. Granted, Arafel knew what all the presents were, having had to pick them up from the jolly man this year herself, due to the whole... Cow... thing, which had resulted in that little bit of sleep issue.

"Well show me!" And thus, everyone was off, Arafel in tow... But she couldn't help the solem expression at their backs as she wondered... How the other children were doing?

The present opening was always exciting, Ilori had been set down and handed her presents by various siblings scoupin gout names and yelling "This ones yours!" Now, it was opening time. "Santa?" Ilroi yawned cutely, batting her large eyes up at Arafel. The woman noded, weaving her way through the forets of discarded wrapping paper, and setting down to help the little eden girl. "Santa's a man in a biiig red suit, a huge white beard, with a great laugh, and a good heart. Who brings presents to all the good children, so they can have a good Christmas." Ilori tilted her head, tring to work up an image of this strange present bearing man in her mind. "Don't forget!" Futoeki chimed in "He's got a belly like a bowl full of jelly, and he laughs like Hohoho!" The boy held his arms infront of his stomach to make like he had a large gut, and then did his best santa laugh impersonation. "Also he flies around on these reindeer, and if you're bad instead of presents you get coal!" Futoeki finished, returning to his own presents, leaving the eden girl speachless.

The first unwrapped was a leaf covered journal, somethign that left a strange and familiar feeling in the pit of the toddler's stomach. "This is a journal, or a diary..." Arafel explained. "You write important things in it so you don't forget them. And no one else is allowed to read it!"

Ilori looked over the magical book of memories, "Kay!" That was really interesting... With careful hands, she clung to the large book in her lap, only breaking from thought when Arafel prodded her with a "Well open the next one!" She gave a "There's more?!" expression, taking the next box and digging into the wrapping.

The next smaller box contained a new set of crayons, and a beaming smile from the little girl who'd gotten them. "Crawns!" she chimed, showing Arafel, whom nodded and echoed "Yep, Crayons." This was great, the set they had was becoming worn down from overuse, leaving dull broken stubs. Now getting the hang of this whole present thing, she was reaching for the next.

User Image

The next was a smaller box, but inside was something that once more proved bigger isn't always better, Iloris eyes widened at the little comb produced from the box. A smooth wood, with shimmering gems, though Arafel was unsure if they were real or not... Ilroi knew what it was though, a comb, the heavenly things that kept her long hair from getting matted. Immediatly it was thrust out to Arafel, whom took it knowingly, but paused before moving to try it out on the silky white hair. "What do you say?" "Pleese!" Ilori smiled, reaching for the next present as Arafel took to brushing her hair.

Now with only one present left, Ilori fetched the last, shredding the paper and pulling out a small wooden doll. She paused, looking it over curiously, before holding it up to Arafel and offering her a jumbled sentance, of which the woman made out "Like Shouko" The pinkhaired girl with the kimono... Yep, well... not exactly, but they had the same type of outfit.

But.. that was it, Ilori frowned alittle after the initial rush faded... but was content with her things, the other children had much of the same.

"Wait wait!" Arafel picked herself up, passing the comb back to Ilori. "I got you something too!" It wasn't much, and it had been alot to scrape the money together... But it was something, so she passed out each little box with a smile, "Merry Christmas."

User Image

Ilroi took hers, happilly ripping the paper off of it as well. A suprise present! What fun.She pulled out a clear bracelet, beads carefully strung together. "Pree!" she declayred, pulling it onto her arm. Alittle big... but none the less, appretiated. "It's rock crystal. For the Strength to face life's challenges and for protection." Arafel informed, repeating the little descriptions for each. Everyone got a bracelet, but each a different color and meaing.

Christmas had long passed, and Ilori was now writing well enough to finally crack open that journal she got from santa. Along with her slightly used crayons, ofcourse. Curling pale scales up underneith her, she dragged open the front page, hearing a small crack of the binding from it's first use. A small pause of thought was given, rolling the black crayon around in her hand and tapping her chin with it as she'd seen so many adults do when thinking. Though it wasn'thelping as much as she'd hoped it would... Wait, Arafel had said that you use it to put things you want to remember.. So... What did she want to remember most? That was when inspiration struck her, dragging a crayon down on the page, she worked carefully on each letter, pausing once to sound out the word "Forget." After the message was written, she paused to look over her work... Something was missing... Oh! Duh, a picture. Switching crayons, she again carefully and tediously scribbled on the page.

Shopping Trip

Thank the heavens I got someone to babysit was the only thing Arafel could think of as she meandered down aisle after aisle of clothing. "This please." Coming from the growing toddler in her arms as she passed more and more clothing. The day was turning out really long, the only thing seeming to eleminate clothign from their choices was price, the rest Ilori wanted to try on. The were-elf had never had so much trouble with clothing... The boys were just shirts and shorts, or pants. No biggies there. Colette and herself had always gone with simpler clothing. Oh well. It as good to be able to spend time with Ilori like this, and it had to be done. While the toddler nestled in her arms couldn't walk yet, she was certiantly growing, and now in need of some new outfits.

Or that's what she'd thought at first, and the day had indeed dragged on painstakingly slow. But the fruit of their labor paid off in enough outfits to last the little girl awhile, and not burn a hole in the mother's pocket.

There had been several patterns to the clothing, one that they were brightly colored. The girl seemed to be naturally attracted to something she lacked, and two(On Arafel's behalf) they considted of mainly longsleeved outfits. One, to keep the girl from getting easily chilled, and two to prevent sunburn on her pale skin.

The first was for outside, and playtimes, a longsleeved blue shirt underneith an overall dress.

The next were a series of shirts with skirts to match.

And the last were dresses, with small sweaters to account for their lack of sleeves, easily iterchangable between dresses.

Growth Quest
Ara's busy, and Ilori's favorite toy is still out in the back yard. She could wait for Ara to get back, but she wants it NOW, so it looks like she's going to have to figure out for herself how to get it.

There are ten yards of muddy grass between Ilori and the hostage. It looks like it might rain soon.

Now might be a good time to figure out how this whole "slithering" think works.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 29, 2007 11:31 pm

Though there wasn't much of a yard, they still had a small yard outfront of the apartments. And despite Arafel's constant reminders for them to bring their toys inside, that someone might steal them considering this was an apartment duplex, children were quite prone to forgetting... and now, dear ol' mum was on the phone with work, trying to balance out her jobs... It wasn't completley under Ilori's grasp exactly what she was doing on the phone, or why she had so many jobs, but she did understand that on the phone with work meant don't make a peep...

But her toys... Her journal, she'd left it out there, and her favorite set of crayons! The journal was where she put things that she didn't want to forget, which meant it was special, and if it was stolen then... then what if she forgot something in it?! That'd be absolutely horrendous... She frowned at the window she had her palms and nose so desperatly pressed against, leaveing little fingerprints, and nose prints... Her initial plan had been to wait until mum was off the phone, then call her attention... That is... Until those pale red eyes noticed the large stormclouds growing up ahead... The small bit of thunder that warned the oncoming attack of water droplets. It didn't take a genious to regester that rain plus a book did not bode well in favor of the book...

Desperation grasped the poor little toddler, looking back to the room mom was in... She had to save it! But... "Nn..." she whined, biting her lip to hold back the oncoming tears of frustration. If she couldn't bother mother... and she had to get it now... that left only one option.

Hesitantly, she looked from the window to the door... her eyes gazed down at the carpet, measuring out the distance... She could crawl, but... no time! Feeling the grasping pressure of her enormous prediciment, at least in the eyes of a toddler, she grasped the windowsil... slowly, but surely, she got herself down from the stand... and then, hands pressed to the wall for balance, she tried it. Slithering... that's what mom had called it, she'd tried to show her before but... she always fell.

The motion was scary, feeling so far away from the ground, the small wobble she could feel threatning to elicit gravity and throw her down, ending her mission... No! She had to save it. She had to save her memories. Determination drove her forward, and without even realizing it, she was slithering just fine, hurrying to the door to grasp at the handle. Another battle between herself and life arose, and another crack of lightning warned her of the narrowing gap of time she had left. Just... alittle... more...

Click.

Aha! The door slid open, and soon she was squeasing through the small crack she'd made, but the motion set her off balance, and despite all her success in slithering earlier, her elbows met the ground with a sharp smack! "Owwiee..." she whined, lower lip quivering under the sting... But she couldn't stop now... It was so close...

The movements were slow at first, a bit shakey, she wasn't used to falling yet, her threshold for pain still low, but she drove on, and it only took a few more seconds before she made it to the book in question, having left it right outside their doorstep. The worn out leafy covering of the journal was clutched tightly to her chest, hugging it like a dear friend long lost, with a small smile of security, and some tears still in her eyes. Her memories were safe!

Victory was short lived, as mother had heard the creak of the door and moved to the living room to see what she'd heard only to find her door open... and Ilori not where she'd left her. A flurry of thoughts had hit her at that moment, and all her poor boss got was "Gotta go bye!" and a dial tone. Much to Arafel's releif, Ilori was just fine... not kidnapped or anything, and sitting outside with her journal and a few scrapes on her arms. In a second, the little snake was snatched up into her arms. "Don't scare me like that... Don't go outside without telling me!" First the worried scolding... "Wait howed you get out here?" The confusion followed... "Oh my gosh! You.. You walked-slithered... whatever!" And a mixture of excitement and pride. "This is wonderful!"

Ilori, befuddled by the sudden actions, stared wideeyed... was she in trouble or not? She couldn't tell anymore... And her arms still hurt... But soon, to her releif, the adventure ended with safe memories, praise... a bit of a lecture, and best of all a kiss to make her arms feel all better.

"Yes... I know... I'm sorry I hung up on you... I know... What? No no! My daughter... You see..."

It was about an hour later, mother was on the phone again talking about something... but contently, Ilori laid sprawled out on the floor, arms bandaged lovingly, and filling her journal with yet another memory, listning to the melodic sound of rain pattering against the window.

By dinnertime, Ilori is itchy, and nothing anyone can do can make relieve it. Her tail in particular requires scratching, like the skin is suddenly too tight and she needs to get it off. The itching persists long past bedtime, and Ilori probably continues to scratch in her dreams.

By morning, the skin of her tail has shed and she has grown into a child.
