Ethel was listening, also totally engrossed with the story. "But... So that's how you met... THEN what happened!?" She said as she stared from Lakoni to Akilles and back.
"Well... when Veritas and I came upon Lakoni and Byron, I hid her in the bush, too frightened to see her threatened by another male. I don't think I could defend her against a male having territory issues..." He said with a sigh and smiled as he saw Veritas cuddle up next to Blake, he saved that image in his mind to keep it forever. He thought he'd never see her do that with a relative...
"When I talked to her she spoke of the wolves who guarded the lights to the north," He turned to Ethel then, "I told you how I wanted to show her the lights in the north," (Ethel nodded then) "And the more we talked, the more I wanted to hear more. As the night drew on, Veritas came out of hiding and we all seemed to bond, in a weeird, lonely kind of way." He said with a smile as he draped his tail over Lakoni's. "As we talked through the night, I told her about you, Ethel, and your family, how large it is, I mean, and how you talked about Blake and roses and everything else. Lani felt it may have been her brother. So I told her I would take her to your pride and maybe you would point us in the direction of Blake. Fate just seemed to be kind to us this day, because here we are, and there you are Blake." He added with a smile and a nod, almost as if he were saying thank you.
Veritas sighed dreamily, "Please sing Mama... I love your song..." snuggling into Blake a bit more she yawned and batted at Byron, he last attempt to play but she was far to tired to do much more at the moment.

Byron giggled at Veritas’s swat, but stopped trying to wrestle, he wanted to hear Mama’s song as well. He snuggled a bit closer to his new sister and uncle, and looked expectantly up at his Mama.With everyone looking at her expectantly, Lakoni all of a sudden felt very bashful and almost embarrassed and she ducked her head slightly. She leaned slightly into Akilles, closed her eyes, and imagined how she’d felt last night staring up at the full moon, the sound of the wolves in her memories once more coming back to her. She began to hum quietly for a few minutes, letting herself become lost once more before she sang.

Let the rain wash away your last days Blake was entranced, and it was as if he could hear his mother’s voice once more, and it made him sad. He still missed them dearly, even with the fact that they had cared so little for their children in the end. “You have Mama’s voice…I remember her singing once…only once, but I don’t remember the song, just her voice.” He had to wipe away a tear before he was completely composed once more.
Turning to Akilles, he looked him over in the protective way that brothers have for their sister’s mates, even if said sister hadn’t been seen for years until today. He still felt protective over her, wanting to be sure she would be taken care of properly. He could tell that Akilles definitely cared for her, the way he had his tail over hers, the look in his eyes whenever he gazed on her…it reminded him of himself and Synda, and he couldn’t help a smile. “I assume there’s more to your story than just going out to seek the lights of the North with your daughter, Akilles. Call me protective, but you did only just meet, and I’d like to know more about my sister’s mate….in return, I’ll tell you my story.””I told them a little bit already…”But, knowing your Aunt,” he grinned at Laki, “She wants the full story and nothing less would satisfy.””I busted my butt looking for you! Of course I want to know the full thing, after you stop giving my love the third degree…”

As Lakoni sang, Akilles felt himself drawn to her and not just physically, it was like his soul was being pulled to her, it was reaching out to meet her own soul. There was a short moment of silence when he finished and it was that silence that meant more to Akilles than anything. Blake broke that silence when he spoke, but what he said was heart-warming. It was obvious Lani and her brother Blake had been very close as children, what torment it would be to think your sibling had died. He couldn't imagine either of his sisters being taken from his life like that.
As Blake addressed him, Akilles had taken a moment to register he was being spoken to. "Oh? Hmm?" He said at first, his gaze being drawn from Lani to Blake. It was Blake's knowing eyes that made a small red int come to his cheeks. "Aye, there is more to our story... it isn't very cheerful, that's for sure." He said with a sigh, thankful that his daughter as fast asleep in Blake's paws. Akilles' blush deepend a bit when Lani called him her 'love', it gave him a pleasureable shiver as well.
"Well..." He began, he gave Blake, Holly and Ethel a run down of his family, how his mothers Teysu and Quiyue met and fell in love with each other only to be denied children until Hyde came along to give them the gift of children. Throughout the whole story he expressed his love for his gay mothers, a fact that never bothered him in the slightest. They were fully capable parents in his eyes. He told them of his sisters and how he had been the only male in their family, but that was not a problem to him. He said he wanted to be a better rolemodel to his daughters (lucky him for being raised my two mothers with two sisters and have two daughters!) than his grandfather was to his daughter Teysu. He broke down the history about Mekare having children other than with his mate Nox and the disaster it caused. Which lead him to talk about the rouge lioness he thought he had been in love with. Instead of having a wonderful mate, he glanced at Lani then, he was left with two beautiful daughters whose mother had disappeared. He now had been given the gift of children and he sought to take care of them as best as he could. Somehow though, one of his daughters had disappered, he had a feeling that her mother had taken her away in the night, as she was the one who looked most like Akilles, Veritas on the other hand looked most like her mother. As he spoke of his daughters, his eyes were full of saddness, it obviously tormented him that he had lost his daughter.
"Veritas and I were jusst doing the best we could up until now." He added lightly, an affection look directed to his daughter then directed to Lani. "If Veritas hadn't heard Lani singing... well, we definitely wouldn't be here now." He said with a smile.

Holly sniffled slightly, eyes moist, but she was so happy for the couple. “I’m not sure I know two lions who deserve to be with each other more, Papa. You both have such sad pasts, yet I see nothing more than a bright future. It’s obvious you not only make each other happy, but complete each other as well.”
”Agreed, and for this match, I fully approve. Now, onto my story as I’d promised.” Blake began about how he’d fallen asleep that night that he’d chosen to sleep under a bush, and to find everyone gone in the morning. He remembered being scared, and wandering off, hoping he was going in the right direction. Obviously it wasn’t, but he did come upon an oasis that saved his life. He described finding the area as it was back then – it was not much more than a few trees, a small lake and a cave that went underground, and was populated by quite a few prey creatures. He talked about venturing one day deep into the cave and discovering the lake was fed by an underground spring that appeared first at the very back of the cave. Accidentally falling in, he described how he’d flailed, trying to swim back to where he’d been and how strong the current was. “Just when I thought I was going to die, all of a sudden I popped out of a hole and into the lake in a mini-waterfall! Was the greatest thing to do, and we’ve since increased the size of the tunnel to allow larger lions to experience the thrill as well.”
He went on about growing up there, and making it his home. He’d done some venturing, and discovered the den wasn’t too far from the actual grasslands area back then, and so he went to work making his home more LIKE home and he grew roses there of all colors of the rainbow…but still, it wasn’t quite enough. On one of his ventures, he talked about coming across a beautiful heartbroken lioness whom he fell immediately in love with, but she was in love with another. “Her own story is sad, as her love ended up dumping her in one of the worst ways possible by ignoring her and courting another without much warning. It took some time, but Synda, whom I call my lovely Desert Rose, and is by far the most beautiful object in my life finally fell in love with me, and our family has blossomed ever since. Holly here, Neo (who is Ethels’ father), and our other son Halo were our first children who were blessed by the touch of Cupid. The last two are Xiangmao, which means ‘panda bear’, and Patches. Five beautiful children, and so far a lot of grandkids…I’m still trying to count them before more appear! Definatly couldn’t ask for better, dear sister. I’m only sorry you had to endure so much, but you will never be alone. My pride, as I’m sure my son’s as well, is open to you both anytime you need a place to stay.”
Lakoni was speechless, and happy that her brother hadn't had quite so tramuatic a childhood as she'd once imagined. She nuzzled Akilles, and let herself bathe in the moment of being with family. All she'd wanted since cubhood she had right here with her, and she had a place to come back to...with the love of her life by her side. Livolu woulda liked you, she thought to both her mate and her brother.

Ethel, who was snuggled up to Holly, nodded in agreement. "I couldn't have said it any better, Holly..." she said in a dreamy voice, her features showing her far-off look as she day dreamt about the lion she was currently fancy-ing.
Akilles listened intently, he was gla to hear that Blake hadn't suffered as a child. He knew that this information would make Lani feel a bit better, he wished that she could have had a decent life growing up as well. He had never thought it would be possible for someone to experience such misfortune since childhood, he himself had only experienced it since his teenage and young adulthood life. Towards the end of Blakes story, Akilles caught his mind drifting off. He was thinking about his parents, his children (his daughters and maybe... now Byron?), his mate.... should he call her that now? Althought it had only been a day? Or was it more like a serious relationship? But he knew he loved her... he could tell that from the minute he saw her. Yes. She was his mate, it was just going to take him a little bit of time to come to terms with that word. Last time he thought of that term he was left with two young cubs and their mother disappeared. Having a mate scared him somewhat...
It was Lakoni's nuzzle that brought him back to the present. What was he thinking? Lani wouldn't do that too him, not when she had suffered so much hurt herself. Purring softly he rubbed his head against hers softly, his tail twisting with hers. Things were actually nice, for once.
