Peri smiled, then noticed Edward looking over himself. An eyebrow quirked upward. "Oh wow, I feel like such an idiot. How are you doing," she asked, concerned. She had been so out of it by the pain in her back that she'd forgotten Edward had been fighting too. It was a fairly good reason, but Peri felt churlish in the extreme for not at least asking until now.
She tilted her head. "You need me to look over anything?"

He laughed gently at her comment, looking at himself again. "Oh no no, I was happier checking you before me. I'm fine though, it was worth it." He smiled at her, raising his own eyebrow before looking at himself once more.
"Though, maybe I do need to be checked, just to make sure I don't have an infection. Would you..mind?" He asked, head tilting. Usually he didn't ask for help, however today was a little different. He made sure to make himself slightly smaller so she wouldn't strain her back.

Peri walked over, a little stiff because of her back but in considerably less pain. She examined Edward's back, then looked down at all the small parts of his legs and chest that he'd have trouble seeing for himself before looking at his sides.
She probably should have started with the sides.
"Oh wow, those look bad." Peri's voice was probably inappropriately impressed, but she couldn't believe Edward had such large scratches ranged across his side and he didn't seem to notice them. Most had started to clot, but a couple were still sluggishly bleeding.

Hm? His eyes drifted to his side, letting out a amused hiss of air. He had thought that the pain he felt was by being kicked and bitten at, not because of long claw marks. Carefully, he tapped at the sides, moving his paw to notice blood. Yes, he had been injured apparently, though as he said before, it was highly worth it.
Turning to her, he looked back down at his sides. Now that he noticed them they started to hurt even more, though he calmly began to rise, looking about for leaves. He could wrap himself up, he didn't want to burden Peri.
"I thought they ached from being kicked." He mused, looking at her wrapped back. "Though, I rather have these wounds then you have them."

Peri's face creased in a firm frown and she moved forward to block Edward's path. "You, deeper water, right now," she commanded, taking a step forward in a hint, as polite as she could manage, of where she wanted him to go and that she wasn't taking no for an answer.
"Before you do anything we need to clean those. Then we can look for something to cover them, leaves or maybe there's some clay-mud we could use. After that we're looking for those plants you gathered and you're taking some of that....delicious medicine yourself."
Throughout her entire speech Peri's firm tone of voice and stern eyes showed she'd accept no arguement. She could already see that Edward had a tendency to downplay his own self and put more attention on others. It was sweet of course, but if he thought she was going to let him half-a** himself after tending so vigilantly to her, he had another thing coming!

There was a second where all he could do was blink at her, and then he obeyed. By the time he was in the water he wondered why he had listened. Probably because of those eyes, determined to make him do as she wanted, he wasn't even going to protest with that look in her eyes.
When she began to stare what needed to be done he glanced at himself. Now really, he was fine, though he wasn't messing with her currently. Speaking of plants, he nodded to the forest.
"I found them by a tree, I could fetch them." He re-considered. "After I patch myself up... of course."

Peri followed after Edward in the water, and once they were deep enough she began scooping up water and pouring it over the wound, gently cleansing away particulates. When she had gotten it as clean as she could like that she began to scoop water and then lightly rub the wound with her paw, trying not to reopen the wounds but also making sure they were clean. For how firm she'd been before, she was being remarkably gentle in her touch.
She looked up when Edward spoke, then looked back to the wound. "Quite right. I'm almost done. When I finish you can look for something to cover it, and I'll gather the herbs and such for you." Peri didn't have a great knowledge of medicinal plants and preparing medication, but she was sure enough to at least grab the right plants.

He nodded, pleased to have come to an agreement. When she was done he headed for where he found the leaves, beginning to wrap them as best as he could around his wounds, and carefully. Peri had certainly been gentle but she hadn't done it lackadaisically. Smiling to himself, the male managed to cover himself before returning to near the water, flopping down. She had said she'd get herbs, so he'd wait for her.
Then an idea popped up into his head, standing up and wadding into the water. He could fish food for them, after a fight both had to be hungry.

Peri returned not long after Edward had stepped into the water. She shook her head and had to bite her tongue, reminding herself that the wounds were cleaned and tended, and this was only to help prevent and infection. Edward was a grown adult, he knew what he was doing.
She set the herbs down by her feet, sighing and wincing a little as she straightened up. While she sat and watched Edward, she had to wonder when she'd so forceably began to channel her mother. Shoot, that kind of behavior she'd just displayed was more like Mom or Anatola...
This was a pleasant, just sitting calmly here and watching Edward fish. That's what it looked like he was doing anyway. She found her mind wandering freely, wondering about the connection with her attitude spurt and how it tied in with her family.

Finally he had done it, catching two well sized fish and setting them down onto the bank, padding out of the water and very gently and briefly shaking himself off. Flicking his blue swirled tail, he spotted Peri, lifting the fish and padding over to her, setting them both down in-front of her.
"We both used up a lot of energy, fish is very healthy for you and can help replenish the energy we spent. And a good nap." If she choose to sleep he'd watch over her, though not curl up beside her unless it was what she wanted. At this point, it was more of the desire to not scare her off, finding that being polite was slowly becoming obsolete to him at this point. All he was doing, every word and action was not based around the belief that he had to be a gentleman, but because he wanted to. He wanted to treat Peri well. Now, he wanted to be polite, but this was often a behavior he forced at times. Everyone had those days where they didn't want to smile and get along.
Though for Peri, he was genuinely enjoying making sure she was alright, bandaged, and fed, just as much as he enjoyed making sure his friends were happy. Did this mean Peri was becoming a friend? Or was it more? Hmmm. He would need some more time dwelling on that.

Edward's voice pulled Peri back out of her thoughts. Her eyes refocused on him and she gave him a brief smile. Her last thought had been that her mom only got really seriously scary-stern when it had to do with ones she cared about. That had led Peri to the edge of a precipse of questions about what that meant for her in this situation right now before she had gotten distracted.
"Ah, yes. Food and naps would probably be good." She eyed Edward, then pointedly said, "For both of us."

He laughed suddenly, unable to help himself. It was refreshing laughing at something another said without worrying if they would be offended. "You never miss a beat, do you?" He said, smiling sweetly at the vixen. "Alright, I will sleep.... hmmm. It does get cold at night.." He briefly considered making up some excuse to sleep beside Peri, though immediately his gentlemanly attitude took over. He merely nodded to her, smiling.
"If you sleep against something, I will sleep ahead of you. Far enough away, don't worry. I will wake before anything tries to harm you." He mused, wanting to make sure he could still protect her. Yes, both were fairly injured, but he was more concerned with the vixen then himself. He knew his own limits, he didn't know hers.

Peri shrugged. "It's probably warmer to sleep closer together, since we're both wet," she said. "Plus there's safety in numbers, which we'll probably need since we're both mildly injured." She wondered if she was being a bit too forward since they only just set this day, but it seemed that being attacked and injured made her a touch more practical.
"Anyway it might be good to move a bit farther away after we eat, so that anything attracted to the smell of food doesn't stumble on us." Peri push the herbs closer to Edward with a paw. "And don't forget that herb paste you made me eat for yourself."

He scowled for once, moving awaaay from the herb. "I suddenly regret making you aware of this." He grumbled, ears flopping down. Though, she was correct. He should eat it. Reluctantly, he moved to make the paste, and when he was done he eyed her as he ate, grimacing. "I wonder if this could be made to taste reasonable." He rose, glancing to the side.
So, she didn't mind sleeping near one another? Well, she had found the excuse for him. Nodding, he moved the fish he had acquired earlier closer to her, taking his own. He was hungry, too. Though she did get the bigger one, just a habit. Using his nail to de-scale it, he glanced up at Peri.
"Does this seem fine? I can find a different type of a fish, if you like."

Peri didn't say anything, just smiled in a slightly knowing way. She made sure he ate the paste he had made though.
She was also pretty sure what he had in mind when Edward seized the larger fish and worked on descaleing it. So, with the most innocent look she could manage, Peri snagged the smaller of the two fishes still off to the side and began working on it herself. "Nope, these are fine," she said, voice as innocent as her expression. There was, however, the slightest twinkle of mischief in her eyes.
