The blast from the microphone seemed to shake some life back into 'Emily's group, and as she waved at them and headed for where all the counselors were gathering, one or two even gave her a grateful smile. She was certain this was their way of saying thank you for the trip, instead of something ridiculous like them being glad she had left. It was relaxing to be undercover, she thought, as she jogged up to the stage. She could run around, jump, and literally let her hair down without having to worry about what people would think. Maybe she could even try out some of this modern slang that kids her age were always spouting.

Taking her turn to step on stage, she gripped the clipboard and waved it above her head energetically to get people's attention.

"Hello! My name is Emily, and I'm delighted to be one of your junior counselors! I'm going to be supervising the Azalea Cabin, so I look forward to meeting all the girls there, I'm sure we'll get along splendidly! Apart from there, I'm always around the camp so if you need help with anything do let me know. I'm going to be working in the arts and crafts tent, where we'll be offering all kinds of activities. Larkspur is overflowing with absolutely breathtaking flowers, as I'm sure some of you have noticed by now. I'll be running flower pressing groups, so you can bring home a little slice of Larkspur for your family! Also, I'll be supervising morning jump-rope. You can come and join in whenever you like, we'll be learning all sorts of fun moves!"

Griffin smiled as the little girl helped wake up the little boy and when the two clasped hands. How sweet! They got off the bus and then she remembered. She should have asked the girl for her name! What if she was one of her campers?
As soon as she stepped off the bus, Griffin stopped dead in her tracks to listen to the announcement. Ah! The megaphone! That'd be a great way to get her kids' attention and hopefully corral them up. The sooner they got together the sooner that they'd be able to get down to real camping! She walked over to the stage and accepted the megaphone from 'Emily', and with before stepping up, said to the girl. "Oh! I think we're supervising a cabin together. I'm Griffin, but don't tell anyone!" She smiled and held a finger to her mouth. She had plans for a counselor name that she thought was quite clever.

"Hi, everyone! I'm a junior counselor, and please, call me Hawkeye!" She tried not to chuckle at her own joke. "I'll be supervising Azalea cabin with Emily, and I'll lead nature walks regularly! If you have any questions about the wild life or want to go out hiking, please! Come find me! And report to your cabins, kids!"

Ahhh, Hawkeye. A play on her name Griffin. How clever. Birds of prey! Oh puns were the best. Well, that was her pitch for getting the kids in line. Hopefully the little girls knew what cabin they were in and would now seek out Griffin and Emily.

"Oh, umm..."

Should he tell Lily who? He couldn't really think of much of a reason not to, unless she started acting weird around Chris because she knew Paris was hiding a secret from him, but she was a fellow dancer and part of dancing was acting, so she should be able to hide it just fine. He hoped...

Why he was doing it was another thing entirely. He couldn't just say 'oh, he's cute and he's fun to be around and it's great that he has money and can take me out to nice places' without it seeming extremely douchey.

And the more he thought about things that way, the more he realized he was a horrible person.

"It's Chris. Up there," he said, as the young man in question stepped off of the stage and another counselor went to take his place in the introductions. "We've sort of been hanging out for the last month and a half, and I guess it's kind of like dating, only not. He assumes that I'm a girl and I haven't really gotten to the point where I've figured out how to tell him the truth," he explained, even if that wasn't entirely it. He didn't particularly want to tell him the truth, at least not until he was done having his fun. "It's complicated. But I'll tell him one day," he reassured her. "Soon. I think. Maybe. It depends on how things go from here. I'd just rather other people not do the outing for me."

That was good enough, wasn't it? It sort of made the whole thing seem a little more innocent than it really was, at least as far as his part in it was concerned, like Chris was making an easy mistake and Paris was too invested to say anything for fear of ruining things.

"If you could help with the cabin thing, that would be fantastic," he continued, a little excited that he may have himself an accomplice. "I figured getting up before everyone else and going to sleep after them was my best option, or I could get my hands on Chris's keys and sleep in his car..." As uncomfortable as that would be, he had considered it.

Ugh, this was so boring, already...

Peter squatted down where he was standing, picking at the little stones on the pavement. Why did he have to be there? He could be in Spain or Greece by now. But no. His parents wanted to torture him and force him to hang around his older brother for weeks. Were they trying to make him miserable??

He only glanced up for a moment when the woman with the megaphone started yapping, before letting out a 'tsk' and dropping his gaze back down to the ground when his brother went up. What a lame goody-goody... talking about how many years he'd been at camp, as if that was something to brag about. It was stupid and boring. When were they going to go into the woods and hike? Or do something more than just run around like maniacs. This is why he didn't like other kids his age. They were way too immature...

Peter threw a stone or two at people's heels as they walked by, waiting for the lame announcements to be over so he could figure out where there was some reception for his phone. There had to be some somewhere, right??

Lily blinked when Paris said it was Chris and the only response she could give was, "Legs?" It was probably an odd statement, but she knew a few of the girls at the animal shelter called him that. She doubted Chris was unware, though she wasn't certain.

She gave a laugh, but nodded none the less, "He volunteers at the animal shelter, really nice kind of silly. I cannot believe you are sort of dating Legs. I'm sorry Paris, but I have to say that is strange." Lily was grinning, "I think you should tell him, but don't worry you secret is safe with me. I won't tell."

She shook her head and put a hand on Paris shoulder, "oh no, we can't have you sleeping in cars. No we will have to speak to Gently and tell her their was a mistake on your form. We can say a friend of ours though it would be funny to change the gender box on our form. I caught it on mine, but apparently you missed it on yours. Simple enough, huh?"

"Now how about we say hi to Chris, huh."

"Thank you!" said Leah brightly, fluffing her hair with her hand. "But, I mean," she added with no shortage of enthusiasm, "Yours just grows in and it's blam, purple, right?" she asked, reaching over to ruffle it. "I would, like, kill to have naturally purple hair." Then again, if Leah were to wake up with naturally purple hair, she would probably bleach it and dye it orange.

"I'm Leah," she added, sticking out a hand that a moment ago had been messing with Cass's hair.

Finn broke away from talk of titles and nobility to take the stage next.

He waved happily to the crowd. "Hello, Camp Larkspur!" he yelled, and tossed up some 'Rock on' fingers for good measure. "I'm Finn Derouen and I'm one of your senior counselors! I'm on camping and orienteering staff, and we're going to go on some awesome hikes! Did you know that we're sitting in the middle of a virgin old-growth forest, and the appalachian trail is only a few miles from here?"

He assumed they didn't. Very few people did.

"We're going to have a blast and learn a lot about wilderness survival!" This was met with less enthusiastic a response than he would have liked. Finn tugged on his shirt. "And we're gonna do tie-dye!" he added.

This was met with slightly more cheering. And a shout from Leah to get off the stage. Finn went.

------------------

Leah turned apologetically to Cass. "Sorry," she said, scowling. "That dipshit is unfortunately my brother."

Wait. "What happened to the snacks I gave you?" Ridley whispered into the bag while the counselors began their introductions. She had made her way well into the crowd by now but had stopped short from ********* declaration.

Though there wasn't as much room in the bag because of ********* presence, Ridley had made sure to include at least enough snacks for two people - or at least as much as she normally had for snacks multiplied by two. Had ********* eaten all of it? The look on Ridley's face was filled with horror. If... the small manx could eat that much ... would the camp have any food left if ********* got into the mess hall?

Castille dropped the stuff where she stood, offering Chris a smile "Thanks. It was getting warm carrying all of those jackets. I was on bus four..and the cabin I'm lookin out for is Daffodil I believe." She checked her clipboard, and sure enough, written across is squiggly handwriting was "Hemlock" for her personal cabin, and "Daffodil" next to the kids names.

After Kookaburra made her announcement, she followed him toward the stage, listening to him and another girl "Hawkeye" introduce themselves. The third person got a slightly better response form the crowd.

She figured now was as good a time as any, and walked up on stage, taking the megaphone and saying "Hey guys! My name is Castille, but if you want to call me some cool nickname, I guess you can call me "Cub". I'll be around for camp fires, as well as some sports events so if your interested in that, come find me! Also, if your in the Daffodil cabin, I'm lookin out for you, so you need to check in with me please!"

And with that she put down the megaphone and scuttled off stage where the others that had spoken stood. Then she realized that Chris had asked her name, but she hadn't given it.

Well, now he knew. She inwardly laughed at herself for being silly.

For a moment the kitty frowned in a nearly embarrassed manner.

"...it was a long ride and I got hungry..." Her paws pushed against her tummy again, though now a casual observer would have to wonder if the tummy ache was due to hunger or just flat out overeating.

"...I'm sorry..." ********* attempted a smile, but it still seemed rather embarrassed.

"L-Legs?" Paris wondered, a bit confused at first, though he quickly realized Chris could have only earned that moniker in one of two ways. One, he had nice legs himself, which he did; baseball was apparently very, very good to one's body. Or two, he had a bit of a leg-fetish, which he also did; Paris was not blind to the way Chris's eyes tended to spend a lot of time stealing peaks at his legs, and those of other people. He wasn't sure which of the two it was, but he was leaning more toward the latter judging by Lily's amusement.

"Right. Okay, we'll do that," he said, hoping Lily's plan to fix the cabin situation would work out. He supposed the worse that could happen with that was he'd be asked to show some form of identification as proof, but his fake ID would work quite nicely if that was the case.

He nodded to the idea of saying "hi" to Chris, though he remained a bit nervous and tried his best to hide it. He headed a bit closer to the stage with Lily, as his sort-of-but-not unofficial boyfriend was still in the area after giving his introduction, lifting a hand to wave and hopefully gain his attention. "Chris! Over here!"

There were so many people around, and even though most of the them were shorter and younger it was still doing a good deal of blocking her path and view of the going ons.

When the introductions began Aitana regarded them with mild interest, more interested in the activities then the actual names. In her mind she made a list of activities.
Arts and crafts - maybe
Flower pressing.. eh
Jump roping - that could be fun
Hikes and nature walks - also acceptable
Wilderness survival - BADASS

And then a very familar face appeared. Castille! Her volleyball teammate was one of them? Surely she'd have some interesting stuff to run. Aitana's nerves settled, growing more excited and less nervous over a summer of dulllll.

Soft clicks caught her attention and her eyes shifted, spotting Peter in his 'game' of rock throwing. Aitana dipped, picking up a small stone of her own before she clipped it at his ankle. Fun game!

xxxxxAn amalgam of relief and a desire for revenge flooded Talia as she saw Griffin. She both wanted to hug the girl and cry, and punch her in the gut for bringing her here! Moments later, Griffin booked it for the bus, going to wake up some camper who was still sleeping, leaving Talia all alone in a crowd of kids.

xxxxxYeah, Griffin was definitely going to die later.

xxxxxTalia was so glad when she heard the speaker go off. At least someone was attempting to get these kids in order. Of course, she probably would've been pretty unruly too as a kid, if it meant getting away from her parents. Besides, this was a new experience, something to be treasured. She tugged on her camp shirt absentmindedly. She redoubled on her efforts to look cute at that moment. She tugged her messy bun up a bit, and found a little shred of paper tucked away in it. Those kids must've put it in her hair on the bus! She tugged it out unhappily and then bobby pinned her hair back in place.

xxxxxHearing her cue from Kookaburra, Talia hopped on stage after Castille and addressed the miniature crowd that had gathered around her. "Uhhh hey kids!" She was trying so hard to sound enthusiastic. She really was. "I'm Moose! I'm gonna be a cabin counselor! That means I get to run around with you and stuff... Oh I'll be at sports too! Come to my field if you wanna get pegged with a dodgeball!" Talia hopped off the stage rather assuredly after that. What a great introduction.

Lily grinned and moved closer to the stage with Paris giving a wave to Chris before it seemed to be her turn, how did that happen, to get up on stage and introduce herself. She wanted to have a nickname like Moose and Kookaburra, so she gave herself a the last minute nickname Nightingale versus Blossom for Lily blossom and smiled at the campers.

"Hey campers," she called in a sing songy voice, "I'm Nightingale and this is my first year as a camp counselor, although I have been a camper here before. You can look forward to campfire songs and some dances classes with my and a few of my friends."

With that she hopped off the stage to hang with Paris and Chris.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 15, 2011 1:31 pm

Chris looked up when he heard his name called, grinning widely at the two girls trying to get his attention. The rest of the counselors were still introducing themselves, so he figured he could take a few moments to say hi.

"Hey Paris, hey Lily. I didn't know you two know each other, or did you just meet?" he asked when he was close enough to them, although waiting for Lily to get off the stage before offering the bucket of candy he was still carrying. "Want one? They'll probably be gone before the night is over," he said with a grimace, but he wasn't really that worried about it. "How was the ride up?" He'd driven up that Monday to get ready for everything, although nothing was new to him. Camp was always the same. Screaming kids and such. He'd been hoping for a bit more organization, though. He liked it when things were organized.

"Uh, if you see a kid that looks like me, only little, running around... that's Peter... My parents decided they wanted to have him go to camp, apparently, and didn't bother telling me until earlier this week." And by that point, he wasn't able to talk them out of it. Ugh.

————————————————

Yeah, well, he wasn't all that happy to see his brother, either. He'd been glad when the jerk moved out of the house. He thought he wouldn't have to deal with him for more than a few days at a time. But for two weeks?? Ugh, this was going to suck.

"That means it's over two tree generations old," he mumbled to himself when the jerk counselor who had tried taking his phone away from him tried offering them what he must have thought was awe-inspiring information. "Treat us like we're in first grade, why don't you? We live here, we learned about this stuff years ago." He'd already looked up the maps of the surrounding locations, just in case he decided to make a break for it and try to find the closest highway. That, and if he got lost somewhere he wouldn't be stuck in the woods forever.

He sputtered and fell backwards onto his butt when he felt the rock at his ankle. "Hey!!" he called at the girl, "What was that for?? I could have lost an eye!" he frowned, knowing he'd been caught throwing rocks, himself. Yeah, well... she could have poked his eye out! He was just aiming for ankles! Jerk.

Genevieve, relieved that Istas would be okay with her friend and the other councilors watching out for her patted the girl on the head and smiled. "My name is Jen," she introduced herself gently. "If you need anything come find me, alright?" Then she was off towards the stage, even as Gently was making her way up there. Jen, though she despised the nickname, smiled as her friend loudly made herself known. Even if there weren't any other plans for the campers it made her extremely happy that she'd at least get time with her existing friends and making new ones.

---

As several other staff members made themselves known, Genevieve looked over her clipboard and list of campers and whom she'd be sharing cabin duties with. Talia- Hmm, it was a name she wasn't particularly familiar with. They'd been introduced the last few days of course but they hadn't really actually talked to one another.
As the mic was clear of other councilors for a rare moment, 'Jen Willis' took her chance and dashed upwards with a ginormous smile plastered to her face. A genuine smile. Waving to Gently and some of the more exuberant kids off of her bus quickly she cleared her voice to speak.

"Helloooo~ Camp Larkspur! My name is Jennifer Willis and I'm a Junior Councilor! Are we going to have fun this summer?!" She looked like a complete dweeb and didn't notice a bit. "For those of you in Cabin Oleander I will be watching over you with Moose, and I'll be in charge of a super neat activity! If you're at all interested in learning how to make your own ice cream or apple crisp in a campfire I'm the gal to find!" Striking a "victory pose" she scanned her list again and nodded. "As a quick note- would Coralie, Aitana, Lydia, and Gigi please find either myself or Moose as soon as you've found your belongings, we want to get the party started as quickly as possible!"
