Rage looked to everyone that had gathered and at once felt at ease once everything had been settled. She then stood, raised her head and tail and her eyes were wide as she looked to everyone and then spoke.
"As you may have noticed to those who have been with us for quite some time, we have some newcomers, please, show them respect as you would wish to receive, and teach them well. And do not," she said, looked to Valen, "tell them to drink from the ocean."
There were some snickers and laughs and then those who made noise grew quiet.
"After the guards have patrolled the borders, taking range of what prey resides in our territory, we have no means of traveling beyond our borders for food. The fish are plentiful as well in both shallow sea water as well as the river and streams. But, for those that are young," she said looking to the youngest, more purple member of the Outriders, "please do not wander alone."
She twitched her ears, waited and looked around.
"Are there any questions, or concerns to bring up while we are gathered? And please, keep personal matters between one another just that, unless it cannot be handled."

"Fall is fast approaching," Logan began, his gruff voice taking the attention of ears nearby. He rolled his shoulders, huffed and took a step forward, "Our prey is plentiful now, but when the frost settles, what if they move again, and try to move north and out? The ice will freeze over the streams, and the ocean will be too cold for us to swim in to hunt any fish."
He sneezed and shook his head, fur ruffling.
"W need to have a plan."

"The food will be fine," Derrob said with a sigh. He shook his head and rolled his eyes at Logan. "You are always so hung up about food, aren't you?"
He heard some snickers and a grin spread across Derrob's maw.
"The prey will stay where it is, they have too many young ones to risk moving them during the harsher, colder months. The weather is changing already, I can feel it."

"Some of us can smell it, on you, Derrob," Nix said with a cough. Her ears flicked and she looked to Rage, Logan and then back to Derrob.
"Logan has a point, especially with more members, with more that could come here, we need to be prepared. We should stock the cashes again when the ground is cold enough to house them, so we can keep it longer."

"The cashes will not matter if we do not prepare everyone, including the young, for what may come," Arguin said slowly, looking to the small pup, to Quinn, and then to Rage and where Daemon sat snugly. He flicked his tail, did not wish to step forward, but his voice made his presence known. "However, we cannot just rely on one cash either, we must work together, and create separate ones. If we create cashes, teh bears will smell them, and we will have trouble."
The last thing they needed were intruding bears.
"Besides, we cannot have it be known we have an over abundance of prey, or other packs who have nothing will come here looking for what is ours. We can be hospitable, but not reckless."

"He's right," Senku said simply. He stayed close to his mate, to where his now adult children sat and watched them, then looked to Arguin. He knew about the past between Rage and Arguin, the rift and the anger, however, he knew Arguin was right in this case.
"We do not have as many young children as other packs may have, which may drive them to an area like ours, we should take precautions, and have more guards one watch, shift hunters to guard and scout positions when not hunting."

Nabu'na watched the men speak, and then Nix, and no other female came forward. Why? Were they so nervous to speak they held their tongues in contempt?
"Perhaps they are right, but, we must also not label ourselves as hoarders of wealth, of food, or we will make this pack, our home, a target to those that may wish to come and take it from us."
Nabu'na knew the politics of wars, and thanks to Philokiss, also knew the blessings of peace.
"I say we cash food, yes, but we also,, if the prey wishes to wander, let some go, but not all."

"So what, we are going to herd the deer together, is that what you are suggesting?" Ano'kainthros said with a spat. She sneered, golden eyes growing wide. "And who would do that, hmm? You as well as I know that as winter grows nearer, our prey grows stronger. Yes, we hunt the weak and sick so that the strong may survive and continue to breed bringing more food, plentiful herds, however, it is more dangerous to hunt them now, and you think we can hold them against their will?"
She wanted to make him seem a fool.
But, again, she did have to show respect.
"What are we going to do, build a wall?"

"We could," Noir said softly, eyes blinking trying to pick up on teh shadowed figures around her. Her eyes were beginning to ache which meant she needed to rest soon, but, she did have an idea.
"I only see shapes, I cannot see what you see, but I do not that the deer can only jump so high, if not a wall, why not a ditch? Something deep? They will not want to go in, especially if our scents are within it, they will believe it a trap and stay away."

"Noir is right," Amara said, small tail wagging behind her. "We know the deer never come this close, to where our dens are, to where we are now, why not create something, make it seem a trap, a hunting device, several of them to keep them secluded in one area?"
A smile was on her maw, she had a plan!
"That way we could keep everything together and not worry!"

"Enough," Daemon said, looking to Rage confirming what he was to say, "enough. It is an idea, but a bad one. They will over browse and starve themselves, it has happened before and we could cause it to happen again."
He sighed, scratched the side of his face with a rear paw and blinked, blue pupiless yes looking to everyone there.
"We will have to make do, and plan more thoroughly as the frost approaches, until then, those who are young enough," he said, looking to the Outriders' newest pup member, "must eat and grow well."

Rage watched as others began to speak and then try to dismiss one another.
She sighed and shook her head.
Swaying her tail she stood and looked to those within the pack, looked to those who had spoken and dipped her head. "The winter might be a rough one for us, but we will not know until more nights have passed, for whomever grows their winter coat first, any sign, please let us know so that we may prepare."
She knew in past years, the earlier the winter coat, the earlier the winter and sometimes, longer and harsher.

"Until we know what we may be up against, I will have the guards and scouts work as one with the hunters, and for any that wish to learn to join those ranks, please, feel free to step forward," Nabu'na said with a nod and smile and he sat back down again at the edge of the circle.
Only time would tell who would rise up, and who might become more than what they were.
Glancing at Arguin, Nabu'na narrowed his eyes, his only hope was Arguin stayed the rank he was and tried nothing foolish or else Arguin would answer to him.
