If her failures had been pointed out she would have called them warm ups. The fact that she hit the target at all on her first shot? Even a little? It was a huge improvement over her experience on the island. The second one she would completely own up to this time. She had straight up missed and shot the window instead of the woman, but then she'd also closed one of her eyes. Apparently that had been a stupid idea! Whatever. Her bad that time. Candace blinked and stared at Ariane as she gave a warning about 'Before', turning to watch him. "I bet he hits the target and apologizes to it." He apologized to all of them, after all.
Candace looked up as Leon clarified what he had been talking about. Ohhh, okay. So he meant the gun. Wait, which gun? The one she had. Oops. "I killed ten people with it." She shrugged as if it was really no big deal. To Candace it wasn't; that island test had been just that..a test. A test for survival, for worth. And she was alive now, right? As were a few of the people she had killed. When asked how it felt a dark frown took over her face and she looked away, rubbing at the back of her neck and looking anywhere but any of the people here. How did it feel? It felt incredible. She had power, she had strength. But she had also lost her damn mind. "...I don't think words would do it justice." That sounded like a safe enough answer.
Hey! She'd started out with a gun too! It'd only been like...a few minutes anyway. She couldn't have had the scythe longer than twenty, but time had essentially slowed down in Candace's crazed mind so it was impossible for her to tell. She began to hum quietly to herself, looking down at the hand before taking it to give it a single firm shake. "Candace.." She gestured to the target. "Don't you have some shooting to be doing?"

Bix had stepped over to him, and Gale turned his head to look up at the older boy, quirking an eyebrow. "I just aim and shoot," he said, grinning, then gave a small shrug. "I think it has to do with how you stand. Make sure that you're in a strong position so that you can hold the gun easily." Either that, or just wing it like I do.
Gale's eyes slid over towards Ariane. "I had a gun on the island too," he pointed out thoughtfully, absently tapping the side of the pistol against his face. "Or at least, I did have one, before I was, er...killed." His eyes flitted briefly to Candace and Caitlin, light amusement mixed with curiosity evident in his voice. He shrugged again. "And brought back. Or something." Then he'd been stuck with a mace, which had been significantly less impressive and successful than the small handgun.
Gale switched his attention back to Before, fingers sliding along the cold metal of the gun in his hand. I wonder if it was a good idea, letting him have a gun...
...er, letting any of us have a gun, for that matter, actually.

Guns. The ode to joy was not playing in Marcus's head as he saw things he'd always made a point to avoid and stay far away from. Guns were held by gangs, gangs were violent, and were nothing more than trouble. He'd been good on avoiding them much of his whole existance, but the fact they were never far in the Big Apple was always such a lovely aspect of the city life. This wasn't the city however, so to see a handgun and be taught how to use it?
True, he'd signed up to be a hunter and to hunt generally meant to kill but- guns just never sat well with him, the images in school growing up of why to avoid them obvious. Their instructor's reasoning was sound, if you wanted to survive you sucked it up and used what was given to you. You didn't ******** around and play pick and chose. From the looks of things, there was no choice in the matter and like hell he was going to let that...thing near him. Gun picked up, loaded, the click of the magazine locking into place. Move to the right angle, feet apart and firm, steady your aim and-
BANG
"s**t!" His hand swung back as the recoil hit him harder than he'd anticipated. Not only that, but his aim was off, missing his target by a good few feet.

A flex of his hand, the sting of the recoil a small ache in his muscles. "By the way-" his feet we replanted with little thought, taking aim once more. "'M name's Marcus Hasan. I went by Beta I for a short stint."
BANG
Another miss, the recoil wasn't as hard this time, but his aim was still off. "Goddamn it." He hissed under his breath, taking a step back, he didn't like how the targets kept getting closer.
"Sorry for not introducing myself earlier, even if now isn't the most ideal of times."

Now that the terrifying ride was over, Emmaline took a moment to gain her balance, one hand clutching the pack of supplies she had grabbed from the helicopter. She braced her arms against her knees, closing her eyes to steady the dizzying sensation in her head, then began to stumble across the beach, lagging behind the others as they each picked up a gun and began to shoot. She had watched them greet each other with joyful embraces and smiles at the orientation, but remained silent. She wondered if any of them were Deltas, but couldn't quite work up the courage to ask.
She stepped forward and picked up a gun from the semicircle laying on the beach, careful to follow the directions given by Caelius. He seemed familiar, but all throughout the orientation, she hadn't quite been able to place his face. Gripping the gun tightly with both hands, she took aim at the figure and shot.
The bullet missed, plunging into the sand. Her hands were trembling, and she wiped her fingers in turn on her clothing-- they were covered in sweat. This was a new sensation for her; even while fighting during the tests, she had never handled a gun. In a way, a dagger could've been compared to cutting meat with a knife. This was... different.
She glanced around at the other trainees. Next to her, a long-haired man was introducing himself as a Beta. Emmaline recalled that she hadn't really met any Betas during the testing; at the very least, he probably wasn't one of the ones that had tried to kill her. Not that they hadn't all been trying to kill each other.
Emmaline waved her free hand hesitantly towards his direction. "I'm Emmaline Grant. I was Delta Six. It's nice to meet you."
"I'm pretty late in my introduction, too," she added with a weak smile.

Ten people, it was an impressive number to Leon as he let out a sharp whistle. "Damn, thats a nice number!" it really was, compared to his body count, which was none. Leon didn't feel very murderous during the test, only a need to understand what was happening and the best way to get his team to survive. "Ah, I guess your right" He mused, admiring the weapon from afar..
He almost forgot about the shooting practice as he gave a grunt and turned back to the old lady that was getting closer with her creepy salad fingers. "Crap, your right!" he cried out before firing another round aimed at her head. "I don't care about your rusty spoons!" Yet again the bullet managed to find its way around the old bag, like an invisible shield that hated his bullets. "What the hell? Nothing hit really?" Leon was livid, Enough with strategy and planning, it was time for action. He did the only thing he could do in that situation. He threw his gun at the lady. "Dodge that ya old bag!"

A gun. A gun felt natural to Cassandra, who picked one up in one hand, pausing for a moment before tossing it to her other hand then grinning. Yes. THat was the hand. The one that had held her gun in it. She felt mighty again.
That surge of power that had possessed her to blast her own head to pieces in the previous 'game' came back to her, only this time there was something outside of her to aim at. She moved up next to whoever was closest to her. "Sorry, don't want to stand all by my lonesome." she said, flashing whoever was vicimized by her presence a grin, before turning on the...
well, it wasn't the prettiest looking thing, to say the least, Cass pulling her trigger.
The gun's recoil felt uncomfortable to her. She cringed, making a slightly pained face as it moved against her. It wasn't a very good shot, she was sure. But none the less, she prepared herself to shoot again if she had to.

Of course she was right, but Candace merely chuckled and rolled her eyes toward the sky as she shook her head. Boys. And he missed! Again! "Wow, you suck at this." She told him with a smirk, watching as he just went ahead and threw the gun. "That's right. You show them who's boss." Because gun throwing was totally a good idea. Especially when the gun still had a few bullets left.
Not.
As someone else came up to them Candace turned her head to see who it was, returning the grin the girl beside her was giving her. "No problem, darlin'. A cute little thing like you probably shouldn't--" But the girl went ahead and fired, hitting the target and doing a really nice chunk of damage to it.
"Well I'll be damned. Nice shot!"

Cass grinned widely at her shot. "Let's see if I can do it again, shall we, m'dear? I'm Cassandra Norris, by the way." she asked, looking at the other girl, Candace. "This thing makes me feel mighty right now. Better not buzzkill it, right?" Cass certainly had enough self control to not do a mass shoot-out in the middle of a street....
But she didn't even question her morals at who she was shooting at right then. It shouldn't have been moving; that much had come to her easily. The island had ruined her brain anyways. She didn't need anything beyond that! Cass practically wiggled her butt in excitement.
Having a gun was funner than taking herself out with nunchucks. She nearly shuddered at the thought.
However, she then grinned again and aimed, pulling the trigger again.
No whammy, no whammy! Hopefully.
She snapped when she missed. "Darn!" However, Cass was still grinning.

"Candace Pennington." She raised a hand and crossed her middle and pointer fingers. "Rooting for you. Blow its head off!" Candace grinned, watching as the girl just wiggled all over. Wow, she was excited. And cute! The dark girl twirled her gun around one of her fingers and turned her attention to the target Cassandra was aiming for.
Annnnd...!
Awwwww. "Awww." Candace pouted her lips and gave Cassandra a side-long glance. "You'll get 'em next time, honey."

"Nice to meet you, Candy." Cass grinned. "I got all the time in the world, man. Dying twice is liberating. So so so liberating." There was more excited wiggling to be had from Cassandra, who took another moment to aim at the creature that Caelius had fired at first. He was an amazing shot, she had to give him that.
"I wonder if target practice is commonplace. I'm going to be needing as much of it as I can get." she said, the image of that gun coming back to her. The gun and the chain and the gunblade. Oh, it had been a beautiful piece of masterwork, to say the least.
None the less, Cass made sure to stay up on her feet when she again aimed and pulled the trigger of the gun she was holding.
She snapped again.
"Dammit! Just let me hit you, you damn... whatever the hell you are!!"

Eugh, Candy. Candace made a slight face at that but didn't say anything about it like she normally would; this girl hopefully wouldn't call her Candy all the time...otherwise she may have to let her know she wasn't a fan of that nickname. Wait, she died twice? "How the hell do you die twice?" She turned a shocked stare toward Cassandra, looking her up and down again as if trying to figure out just how this tiny little thing died twice. Once she could understand! They'd all died once! But twice? That was just...strange.
The third shot miss and Candace purse her lips, patting Cassandra's shoulder. "Poor thing. At least you did really well your first shot. Better than some people, even." There was always next time!

"A pleasure Emma. Circumstances aside, at least if we die this time we'll have a face and name." He moved, finding proper footing as he looked at the others taking their shots. The girls in their merry band of misfits seemed to be more skilled at this then the men. The irony was not wasted on him.
"Still, I don't plan on dying, not now, and not for a long a** time." BANG This time, his aim was right on, bullet finding it's target with the sound of flesh tearing and ripping. "Plus, the company is pretty good looking and for the most part seems pretty sane. I'd at least like the chance to get to know them before the inevitable."
A smirk at the fact he finally got a hit. Maybe it was luck, maybe it was having the right stance. Whatever the case, it was a bit of an ego boost.

Jeremy spent the entire ride over trying not to puke, instead holding his head in his hands to try and pretend that he wasn't on a crazy 'copter in a thunderstorm. While he couldn't think of any other thing that jostled this badly, he could at least pretend he wasn't where he actually was. Luckily he managed to not spew his stomach contents everywhere, but once his feet were on ground - oh dear god ground - he recovered much faster.
Just in time to look at what supplies he was given and then do another desperate scan of the crowds for Dean. Ugh, where was he? This was a mandatory mission for trainees, right?! So...did Dean not make it? That sickness returned, but not because of a jostling helicopter. Well, this sucked. What was he going to do now?
He didn't have time to think about it though, as something was about to start. Jeremy jogged over with the others, near the end of the group, and watched the little performance. That thing was revolting. Like something out of a horror video game! The moment the old woman didn't go down and die like she should have, Jeremy crouched to pick up the nearest gun, loading it as their trainer instructed earlier.
Like hell he was going to just stand there and let that thing get closer! His first shot was understandably a little shakey, but the important thing was...he hit the thing.

The thing - no he wasn't going to call it an old lady - was still moving. Ugh why was it still moving that...didn't make sense! Apparently there was something more to Ariane's inane babbling...and what a time to learn it; with a group of strangers. What had Caelius said? It could sense their fear? He wasn't afraid! Err, well, okay, maybe a little afraid. But just a smidgen! The mild tremble was nothing, it was chilly! Yes. Chilly. Chilly enough to fire off another round at the creature, hoping that the echoing bang of the shots would, uh, make it warmer.
Yes.
