Ava shrank next to the wall with her nose in the air testing the scents of everything. But she kept a weary eye on the human. They were such strange creatures.
Once the human had passed she snuck past the others and Allu following a scent to a stand. She looked up to find that it was chili. "Guess thats what we are going to eat."

He smiled, nodding. "Excellent choice. Now watch me work my magic." With this, he sat beside Ava, looked down, and then rapidly up, face completely soft. His eyes were large, ears back and body hunkered. He whined once, pawing at the leg of the man that owned the stand. The man turned, hissing out something neither could understand, and stopped when he saw the sad-eyed Allu. The male pawed again, whimpering and sucking in his stomach to seem underweight, then looked at Ava and whined.
It didn't take long for the man to set down to bowls of chili, however when he tried to touch Allu the male slunk away, teeth on the brim of his bowl and tail around Ava's, dragging it quickly into an alley the man couldn't fit into, which the man was trying to do to get his bowl back.

Ava watched in amazement and shrunk away as the human approached and reached for them. She was glad Allu was able to get food from the human but was a bit freaked out when it tried reaching for them. She scrambled backward into the alley behind Allu. Her eyes wide watching the human.
She brushed her head against Allu's side as the human finally gave up on trying to reach them. She was shaking a little because she didn't think that Allu would get its attention and have it pay attention to them.

"Eat up!" He purred, tail wagging as he smiled at her. He noticed her shaking, curling around her and licking her cheek. "Are you scared? Don't worry, I promised nothing would hurt you." He said, grinning before digging in to his bowl. His tail wagged, pleased with his success at getting her dinner. His eyes flicked up once to look at her, wondering if taking her to shiny things were such a good idea.
Of course it was! She'd love it! Though, she'd need to be a distraction. He smiled though, knowing he'd protect her from all the dangers of this world. Of course he would, he liked her! It was his duty to protect her!

Ava relaxed more when Allu curled around her some. It was really comforting and she enjoyed it. Nodding she began to eat her food. It had the most interesting taste. It was nothing like rabbit or bird but it was still very good. Maybe it was a new plant? She would have to ask Allu later and see if he knew.

She was so cute! He couldn't help himself, licking her cheek and pressing his muzzle into her ear, whispering: "I have a surprise for you." Then, he padded off to to watch the alley while she ate. Hey! He liked her, he didn't want her putting him into the friend category. No no no. That would not do. He smiled at her direction, shaking his head. He couldn't help but stare at her, and the view was nice where he was.
Did she like the food? He hoped she did. What if.... oh he couldn't think that far, he didn't even know if she'd say yes! Well.... one would only have to find out, and that would be his surprise. Besides, this wasn't their first time together. It was about time.

Ava closed her eyes enjoying the lick. "You do?" she asked but he was already gone and on his way to go get the surprise she supposed. Sighing already missing him by her side she quietly continued to eat. Her eyes darting here and there to make sure nothing snuck up on her.

Allu wandered off, returning with a silly grin on his face. The surprise would be given to her at the end of the day. He approached Ava, clicking his tongue to make sure she heard him before he slid up beside her, tail wagging.
"So, pretty girl, want to get something shiny?" He asked, head tilting. "All you got to do is make a human look at you, and I can nick it from them in no time." He stopped, nudging her cheek. "I won't let the human do anything to you, I promise."

Ava's head snapped in the direction she heard the sound but relaxed when she saw it was only Allu. She smiled at him, "Yes I would like to see something shiny," she watched him than her mouth dropped at what he said next. "You want me to get a humans attention?" her voice high and squeaky.
"Why Do I have to do that?"

He grew stern then, looking her straight in the eye. "The least they could do is pet you. However, the thief can be caught, hit, or harmed. I am not putting you in that kind of danger, Ava. I rather you be pet and smell like disgusting humans then get knocked aside." He eyed her, wondering if she'd refuse now. He wouldn't be to happy, but he had other plans with her, too.
His tail flicked side to side, his bracelets echoing in the alley as he moved slightly. He wouldn't pressure her, he decided.

Ava winced as he told her what would happen to him. She didn't want to be hurt and didnt want him hurt. She sighed and got up with out a word and headed toward the mouth of the alley. She stopped to pick up her bowl and than continued on. She kept her self low to the ground as she made her way back to the chili man. Defeat was written all over her as she pawed softly at the guys feet and whined like a kit nudging the bowl with her nose closer to the man.

The man also sold cheap necklaces and rings, and Allu wanted them. As the man bent over to examine the vixen, perhaps forgetting she had helped steal food, Allu snuck to the stand. When the man became distracted enough he leapt onto the stands end table, yanking the first shiny thing he saw and darting off, turning to gesture for Ava to follow.
"I got it!" He called, heading back into the alley. There, now he could give her something.....

Ava laid perfectly still as the man petted her and patted her head as well as mess with her ears. Which she thought felt odd but let it go. She watched Allu dart up grab something than shoot off calling to her that he got whatever it was.
She tried to slip away but the man still wanted to pet her. She paniced and bared her teeth at him letting out a low growl. She watched the man jerk back and raise his head. That was it she darted out of there not wanting to know what happened the next time the hand touched her. In her blind escape she ran straight into Allu.

He blinked when Ava ran into him, jerking backwards and blinking at her. "Whoa whoa, calm down~" He purred, licking the top of her head and tilting his head. "Lets get out of here, yeah?" He cooed, jerking his head to the other end of the alley, where it opened up into a series of other alleys.
He noted she seemed shaken up, nuzzling her softly. "You did great, Ava." He whispered, smiling softly at her.

She was breathing fast when she finally stopped.She rubbed her head against Allu and watched behind them for the human but again he couldnt fit so he gave up trying to get to them. "I really don't want to do that again. They dont want to stop petting me,"she murmured to him.She headed down the alley by Allu's side.
