Asi winced at Denahi's words and sighed out. If only his son knew how much he agreed. Or maybe how hard it was to be a father with such... odd offspring. He knew they all had good qualities about them, but did they always have to give him such a hard time? His tail flicked behind him and his eyes moved off of Kiuma, watching the sickly little prince's every move. He made sure to keep his paws lightly touching Taabu, as to make sure he was still there.

A rather odd thought right then hit him. That lion took advantage of his little princess? She could have kicked his a**, no problem. His heart gave a painful pang and he tore his eyes away, looking down to his grandson. In a way... he was slighty thankful for the event, because of Taabu. But he knew that it could have been stopped. So now alls that was left to know was why didn't Syeira stop it?

Uumi snorted and wanted to retort back to his twin, she already had found out what led them to coming there. It was the cub. But he didn't say anything, Sye led them to the woodline and Uumi turned to face Sye but at the same time still be able to watch his twin. Denahi seemed to be leaving, which was good. It made him feel less tense. And the big dope was still there, with the cub. Your cub. He willed the little thought away, trying to think of what he would say to Syeira.

"Why didn't you stop me?" His voice sounded rather faint, and those words seemed to tumble out past the ones he'd intended to say. His eyes were glued to the spot between Asi's paws, a troubled look upon his maw. "You could have stopped me... what the hell was I thinking, trying to prove something so stupid? In all reality I have nothing to prove to you. Or should have nothing, rather." He was rambling, actually speaking his thoughts out loud. Something he'd never really done before, thoughts were supposed to be privet. I guess he was just really nervous.

"And it's obvious why I cam here, a blind fool could see the reason. Obviously I wanted to see if.. well this had happened or not.. though the gods only know why I would be so foolish to come here and almost get my throat slit.." He trailed off, still looking miserably at the little toffee colored cub, the cub with his cream markings and black mane... his eyes. And Sye was clearly visable in the cub too, the coat color and the eye markings seemed to come from her father. The stripe along his back from her mother, both eye markings and stripe Sye posessed, they just looked different. "Dammit.." He muttered under his breath. Why was he even thinking about this?

Taabu frowned, feeling his Gapa's paws clapped tightly around his little frame. There would be no weaseling away from him like he could do to his mother. So, letting the thought of his mom and the red lion drift away, he concentrated on the red lion's sister. Twin sister, he assumed, they were so alike. "Are you okay?" he squeaked out, his quiet little voice cracking as he did so. He was tired, it was obvious. Not only was he still very little, but he was sick as well, and all the effort of trying to push his Gapa's paws off of the lion had made him have a fit, which in turn sapped some of his energy away. His eyes were lulling, but he was staying still and strong. Like his Gapa. He had to look out for everyone, even the lions here that his Gapa didn't like.

It was true. At any point in that whole escapade, Syeira could have stopped that sickly little lion. She could have just thrown him off. She could have slit his throat if she had wanted. She wasn't any less dangerous than her family, only, she most often used her mind to prove it. Violence was viewed as a barbaric way of settling things in her eyes, but it didn't mean she wasn't good at it. Not by any means.

"Why do I ever do anything for you, Uumi?" she finally asked, her cool blue eyes flickering up to him, like two frozen lakes centered against the ivory backdrop of her eyes. She sat slowly, glad to be able to finally relax. Rigid though her posture was, as always, that arrogant noble stance, she seemed calm. Her tail flickered for a moment, then her eyes drifted away to the little cub between her father's paws.

"You're the only lion I've ever met with half a brain Uumi," she said, finally, shrugging slowly. "I protect you from my brother, from that rogue lion that was half starved, I protect you simply because if you're gone then any hope for an intelligent companion is lost." She shrugged, clicking her tongue as she glanced back to him, "and that's precisely why I didn't stop you. I certainly don't want a stupid cub."

She laughed after a second, closing her eyes. "I don't mean that the way it sounded," she said, shaking her head. "You're older now and you're undoubtedly going to wander. I wanted at least one child, you know? I've no hope for having a mate, I dislike far too many males. Arrogant, bullheaded things mostly. No offense." She shrugged, eyes watching him. "I let you have what you wanted - to win, for once. To beat me. And I got what I wanted, a child of some intelligent background."

She pushed herself up onto her paws, eyes drifting back to her son, "and he's brilliant, Uumi." Not to mention, slightly OCD. With a weak smile, she looked back to the red lion one final time. "You're going to travel, leave, who knows what will happen. You don't want me to protect you any longer, and I won't, and you have Kiuma to. So travel, see the world if that's what you want. I never expected or asked you to be his father. Not that I'd deny you of it if that's what you wanted. I'm sorry I tricked you.. into such a thing, but I thought if that was the last time I'd see you, then we both got what we wanted."

And Syeira's sneaky, cunning little mind prevails again.

(BFD felyn will post Taabu after you post, we just want to move plot along.)

Right, the intelligent talking bull s**t. She could find another male that was intelligent if she tried hard enough, hell she could find some female friends that were intelligent. Perhaps she didn't try hard enough in meeting others, hmm?

What he wanted? To win against her.. he supposed that was mostly true. He did always know that some part of him wanted to be better than her. He didn't say anything to her yet, though. There really was nothing to say, was there? His tail gave an idle flick.

His eyes narrowed and his tail flicked again, this time compleyely in a different manner; annoyed. Tricked him? His mind flickered through all of the events. No, she couldn't have planned something like that! But she could have. He sneered, hissing lightly at her back. "What do you mean? I did not get what I wanted!" He growled out, but almost immedietly wished he'd had those words back inside.

He did know what he wanted, but he'd never have it. Mostly because he could not gain self acceptance, and everything was just.. so annoying and unneeded in life because he did not even care for himself. He certainly did not want a cub, even if he wouldn't be looking after it. "And don't you go telling me what I'm doing!" He was getting himself worked up, a pity. "I'll do whatever the hell I want to!" He hissed out. "Maybe I don't want to travel!" His voice was rising, not smart if he wanted Asi to stay away.

God. Damn. It. He wasn't sure what he wanted, and he was. He hated Syeira, why did she get him so confused?

She wasn't sure how she had expected him to react to this, after all, it was a dirty little trick to play. Of course, she hadn't planned it so far ahead of time, thinking to come there and trick him into such a thing, after all - who can plan a conversation. She was smart, but not that smart, even she knew that. However, the thought had occurred to her right before he struck. That was precisely why she hadn't forced him off or made a fool of him like she did usually.

"Oh but didn't you?" she asked as she turned to look back at him, claws digging slightly into the ground as he began to yell, knowing that such a thing was unwise with her father still so close and still so angry at the boy. "If you hadn't come here you wouldn't have been the wiser. You would have thought you won, you would have thought I was gone for good." She sighed and narrowed her own eyes on those that were narrowed on her own. "I had planned to leave you alone Uumi, like you always say you want the most. For me to stop trying to get under your skin, to stop protecting you, so you can apparently be happy." She laughed, cold, heartless for the moment as she usually was, "if that's not what you want then what the hell do you want exactly?"

She snorted at his next little outburst, simply shaking her head and sitting, no longer able to see her son, but with both eyes lingering on Uumi. "Don't say such stupid things, Uumi, if you didn't want to travel you wouldn't be here. And this is most certainly probably the last place you want to be anyway, so you must keep travelling onward, no doubt?" Oh yes, catch him in something, Syeira, you're so good at that.

Dammit why did she think him intelligent at all? She was far more intelligent than he, which he would grudgingly admit to himself. But maybe that was because he always played into her paw as she wanted, what she manipulated him into looking the stupider of the pair.

"No, I didn't." He muttered out again, sticking firmly to the belief. He hadn't gotten what he wanted. She'd planned to leave him alone.. figures. The one time she wants nothing to do with him he'd wanted something to do with her. "It's none of your business what I desire." He stated, equally as cold as her, suddenly looking away, glaring toward the forest. What did he want? He did enjoy when she came to bug him, on some level of his unconcious self. Otherwhise he'd flat out ignore her.

They say that hatred is closer to love than ignoration anyways, right? His heart gave a little pang, something he ignored. He was in a catch-22 it seemed, he could never get what he wanted, or admit to it, because that would make him miserable. But hiding everything inside made him miserable as well.

And why did she go on thinking she knew everything, knew if he wanted to travel all around the world or sit in that pisshole he used to call home? Well he'd show her! "Actually I'm staying." He stated. A stupid thing to make claim to.

Syeira usually prided herself on being an intelligent one, being able to think and do for herself when others seemed to either conform or give in to what they were pressured to. Uumi had been undoubtedly easy to figure out most of the time, but what was going on in his mind at this point was oblivious to her. What emotions reeled in that angry soul were lost on her entirely. She knew he would want to prove her wrong, he always would, until he prevailed one day. That day, though, seemed to be now.

"Stay here?" she said with a quirk of her brow. It wasn't a decision he had made before this moment, she knew that, and it was for that simple reason that she didn't really see it as losing - but it still bewildered her slightly. "Uumi, what reason have you for staying here? You hate me, you hate these lands because they are of my kin, and no offense, but there don't seem to be many here who like you." It was true. Staying here could be suicide for the thing, especially if Syeira or her mother happened to be gone when he was confronted by some other male. After all, he'd never met Tamu, and the little lion - though weak as he could be, did have his spurts of anger, and he wasn't sick. He could walk right into a trap with the heir.

Though, as she watched him, her eyes lingered on his frame. Uumi had been the one she'd picked for continuing her bloodline, the other genetic makeup of her child. His intelligence alone was not the only basis for such a thing. On some level, just as he did, she liked Uumi. His fierce, quick-to-the-punch attitude was something she respected. And, by all means, Uumi was a handsome young lion, however sickly he could be. Though, this sickness could be overcome, like Taabu's ability to do so. It took merely a strong will. What had her staying here, listening to him, wanting to do it - that was the most unsettling thing. She could figure out everyone she had ever met before she even knew them well, but now she couldn't even figure out herself. That simple fact was nauseating.

He snorted and with out answering he rose and moved past her, careful not to brush against her toffee colored body. "You should know why I want to stay here, princess." He hissed out. He was going to stay.. to prove that he was capable of staying. And that he didn't want to travel. Why Sye thought him intelligent was beyond me, he was an idiot.

"And Well.." Hmm she knew her father woudn't let him stay. "Your father probably will not like it. But I will stay here." Or right near the border. "I'll prove it to you Syeira, I will." But prove what!

When the small voice spoke, Kiuma looked up in suprise, casting her gaze around. Then her bright eyes fell and came to rest on the source of the voice. Placing her paw carefully on the ground again, she thought of what she should say to the cub, what would be appropriate to say. Her ears fell back nervously, and she shifted from paw to paw. What made the little one pick out her small signs of distress? She didn't know cubs, but shouldn't he be too buisy being... cubbish? Worrying about others was a trait for an older lion.

"I... I'm fine. Just... sore..." She trailed off rather ungracefully, at a loss for words.

She smirked as he moved passed, lowering her eyes for am oment while she considered if laughing out loud at his choice would be appropriate or not. Though, she figured, that since he was trying to win - then she'd let him have that grace. After all, hadn't she already gotten what she wanted? To tell the truth, she thought she had, but at this point - so many other things were surfacing, all from one heart to heart conversation with the lion that seemingly had been nothing more than a nemesis since the day that she met him.

"What exactly are you going to do here, then?" She asked, slowly standing and moving at a slow pace behind him. "Are you just staying to be staying, away from us, or are you going to be his father?" She didn't mind if he didn't bother with them, after all, she had never expected him to. But if he was here, he might as well, right? Not like she'd stop him, it wasn't her right to have complete control over the little mocha ball of fur - after all, as much like her as Taabu looked, he still had half of Uumi's genes.

Little Taabu smiled weakly, unable to move any closer to the pretty red lioness due to his Gapa's paws so tightly holding down his body, but he could offer her the sympathy of a knowing cub. "I get sore too sometimes, not like you're sore though. I get sick, and mama has to take care of me." He purred softly, moving to lower himself down into a sphinx-sih position on the ground, head held high, "do you have someone that will take care of you?"

His tail flicked and he moved toward his twin, still listening to Sye. He nuzzled gentle into her side, but it was bried. He didn't like showing physical affection to his twin around others, hell he was uncomfortable when they were alone. Mostly because he did not want thi affection being returned, she was one of the few lions that he allowed rather close to his body. "I haven't decided." He murmered over his shoulder, avoiding looking at Asi or Taabu at all. "We need to talk, then. When you're ready."

What would he do here? His gaze rolled over the land expectantly. But nothing was worth looking at right now, even if it was a very pretty land. And where could he get a goot view, anyways? He didn't see any cliffs. He'd have to find out about the hills some time. With out waiting for Kiuma's reply he moved past her and a little ways toward the woods, slowly sitting. His tail twitched lightly back and forth, and his eyes seemed to glaze over as he stared at nothing in front of him.

What did that a** mean he hadn't decided? Hadn't decided on what? He slowly let go of Taabu, shifting to look at Syeira in a questioning manner. "Wha' be goin' on, now?" He mumbled out, an unpleasant look on his mug. Time for some more bad news, it seems.

Kiuma dropped her eyes to her paws, flicking out her claws to study them. "I guess I could go home to my own mom... but that's a long ways from here. Uumi could take care of me, I suppose..." Heh, what an odd thought... Normally she took care of him.

When that very lion came to bump against her side, she hid her whince. Instead, she nipped light on his shoulder as he moved away. His words brought a slight frown to her red and cream face. Hadn't decided? She rose stiffly to pad after her brother, concern making her steps heavy. At least the blood flow had stopped... but she'd have quite a time getting the dried blood from her fur. A soft sigh escaped her as she paused next to Uumi, settling carefully onto her haunches again.

What was he staring at? she wondered, eyeing the direction of his gaze. It was confused her when he did this. What was he seeing that she wasn't? What held such significance to him, when it didn't to her?

"What's going on?" She said softly, keeping her voice low.

When the red lioness moved away from him, he wiggled himself out of the clasp of his Gapa's paws, and over to his mother as she came back. He lay down in front of her, a giant yawn spreading his maw.

Syeira glanced up towards her father after Uumi and Kiuma had moved off into the distance, settling down into a sphinx position behind her son, paws stretched out to either side of him as he snuggled up against the soft, warm flesh of his mother. His eyes were lulling, if she was quiet, he might not even notice the conversation.

"He's staying," she whispered, a slight huff in her voice, tail flickering behind her in a slightly agitated manner. This wasn't what was bothering her, however, it was the next part that she said that was, "but if he stays, he's not sure if he's going to bother hanging around and being Taabu's father."

She snorted, shutting her eyes for a second as her son sleepily began to lull into his dream land. "Not that it bothers me, but he's being egotistic and moody. He's only staying to prove me wrong. His pride will be the death of him one day."

Asi let out an irritable his. "i' jus' migh' be the death o'im terday." Her huffed, gaze shooting off to watch the twins. "E be stayin' do 'e? Well no be with ou' me an' Ari's permission. So yeh jus' tell 'im to come visit the dens when 'e be finished.. chatting." He muttered, rising and nuzzling into his daughter, glancing to Taabu and then heading off.

He'd be damned if that scummy lion stayed, and if Sye and Ari overruled him that scumbag would be acting as a father figure.

Uumi's eyes flicked up to meet his twins, and then traveled to her shoulder. "You'll need that to be cleaned up." He murmered, perhaps putting off just breifly what he had to tell her about. His eyes flicking back to hers. "First, I realize that you'd like to know what happened between Syeira and I. Frankly, that is none of your business, dearest. I do hold you in high respect, you are my twin after all. Sye and I do not get on, as you might notice... but.." And despite he knew sye couldn't hear him he lowered his voice anyhow. "Somehow we always.. end up around each other, I suppose." He stopped talking though, why was he even trying to express his thoughts?

"Er..." He hesitated, gaze breaking away from his sister. "Anyhow, I need... to prove something to her, I think." He muttered, realizing just how childish that sounded. Well he'd be damned if he'd take it back. "I wonder if you'd like to stay here a bit, though i do not think the atmosphere too welcoming... or continue your travels?" He didn't know when he'd meet up with her again. Part of him wanted to tell her she better promise to come back, or to even stay here with him. But he couldn't, she wanted to see the world. And return home. He wanted to explore.. but never return home. He seemed to have zoned out from the conversation.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 10, 2006 10:12 pm

"How long do you want to stay?" Kiuma said softly, her face unreadable for the moment. Her crimson eyes didn't once break from him, and she sat motionless as a rock. He wanted to stay here... after all he had done to get the two of them out of the Pridelands. After saying all those things about traveling together, about exploring the world.... She kept the disappointment from her eyes and from her voice. This was Uumi's choice, and frankly she couldn't blame him much. His cub was here, and deny it all he liked, it was his. Reason enough to give up the rogue life before it had even begun.

But now she had a very large problem she would have to deal with. Stay here with him and perhaps give up her dreams of wandering, or strike out on her own and risk never seeing him again. Either way, she'd loose something dear to her. A heavy sadness settled on her, a depression that clouded her eyes. She needed some time to think... some time alone.

How long did he want to stay? That was a good question, and one he could not answer. Perhaps he could stay a bit and then visit one of the closer lands, maybe bump into his twin if she left. But he'd come back, he would stick this out for how ever long he had to to show Syeira. Though.. what if this was one of her weird mind games to get him to stay? No... never that. She didn't want someone like him staying with her. He knew his sister really was looking forward to visiting these lands .So it was time to be the big brother, if he only counted as one by a few minutes.

"Listen.. I think I'd really like to know what the other lands are like.. but I've given my word. So I have to stay.." Now how to persuade her? "I think it is up to you to go see them all... and come back when you are finished. To tell me about them." He was still staring at the sky. He was descretely trying to make it so she'd promise to come back and see him, she could get both of what she wanted. To see him and to visit strange lands.
