Jericho didn't need to be told twice. Riley didn't sound all too good there so he went on and broke through the clouds as well. It was probably a little too soon for her to really be able to handle that sort of altitude and he really did not want to have her pass out on him.

The dragon went on to return to his original height before the journey above the cloudline, keeping as steady as he could. Hopefully that was enough to let her recover.

Malodore's attention snapped back sharply when Riley leaned against it; it immediately lowered its arms to wrap around her waist, though it did not put any of its own weight on her. "Steady," it murmured as the dragon descended.

It couldn't help a small pang of regret at the loss of the cloudscape, though. Still, Riley's welfare was infinitely more important. "Are you well, mia cara?" it asked after their altitude had stabilized once more.

Riley didn't respond immediately. Her head felt like it had been left up above the clouds, and she was waiting for it to descend and join her down where her body was. Her head rested back against Malodore, and she remained silent as she took the time to recover and collect herself.

Dizzy. She finally responded after more than a few moments of tense silence. Nauseous. Her stomach was churning, but she was relatively confident she wasn't actually going to expel while she was up here. Something was just making her feel sick, and she could tell she wanted to lie down again.

Don't mean to cut our trip short. She murmured regretfully. This may have been Malodore's only flight, if Jericho didn't feel comfortable, and she was already trying to get it to end. The regret was almost as sickening as the nausea. Perhaps she could tough it out, if only to give Malodore a little more time in the air. She loved it do. Just need to catch my breath. I'll be okay.

Silently, Jericho just continued to gently glide on through the air, trying to keep as steady as possible for Riley. He was wondering if he should go ahead and land to help her get her bearings back, but he wasn't too sure about that. Instead he just waited while trying to listen to his passengers for any tips on what he should do.

"If you're feeling ill, I would be inclined to request a landing," Malodore said, firmly; it shifted just a little bit to try and support her head a little better. "This is meant as a healing exercise, not a damaging one."

Riley made a noise of discontent, and opened her eyes to look up at the beak that protruded in front of her. I didn't want this to end for you so soon. I think I can make it. I just need to be strong.

And she was good at strong. She knew she could handle this, if she was able to handle some of the other obstacles she'd overcome in her life. She tried sitting up straight, and felt lighter than usual. Her head was still dizzy, but it wasn't her main concern. Why couldn't she feel Jericho as firmly under her-

Oh.

Jericho. Her voice had taken on an alarming tone. Slowly. Really slowly, start landing. My legs aren't responding as well anymore - I don't have a firm hold on you. Her arms reached out and wrapped around the big dragon neck in front of her.

While he couldn't hear Malodore too well, Riley was clear enough. Nodding slightly, he began a rather slow and gradual decent towards the ground. Jericho was essentially gliding around in a large, wide, and lazy circle towards landing. Hopefully that was enough to not jar the mindflayer too much.

<> he sent to her apologetically.

Malodore leaned forward as Riley did, trying to brace her between itself and the dragon's back; its tail flipped up around her waist like a seatbelt of sorts.

It would not let her fall. Nor would Jericho, it knew. It wasn't worried... just slightly on edge.

Jericho's circular landing patterns were exactly what she'd been hoping for when she told him to be careful. It was smooth, and very little in the way of actual plummeting, so that they remained safely on his back the entire way down. It took quite a bit longer than a normal landing would have, but it was necessary considering the circumstances.

It's not your fault. I love being up that high, you know that. My head injuries just react negatively to the altitude, and I had not accounted for it. Don't apologize. She let one of her arms go for a moment, if only to try and tighten Malodore's hold around her as she saw the landing up ahead. Then her arm returned to Jericho's neck, and she settled into a firm grip.

Hold on, dear. This gets a little bumpy sometimes. Riley murmured quietly to the plague doctor against her.

Though it took awhile, Jericho was still on his way and touching down was very immanent. He would try to make that part as smooth as possible, but as with take off, there was bound to be some lurching and bumps in the process. The dragon extended his claws out towards the ground as he came lower and lower. He could even feel the tips of the taller grasses and flowers brushing against his scales.

Then he came in contact with the ground. There were several bumps as he had to essentially jog a bit to ease them all to a stop. Once he had managed to do that, he tucked his wings back at his sides and glanced back towards the two to see how they were faring.

Malodore held on tight, trying not to dig its knees into Jericho's sides too hard - and then they were on the ground. The plague doctor's beak clacked shut with the first bump, and it held on as best it could. Thankfully, it didn't fall off, though its back-blades did rattle against each other a little bit.

"... magnifico," it said, once the world stopped bouncing.

As soon as the first bump signalled the landing, Riley's legs clamped down as powerfully as ever, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She even managed to let go of Jericho's neck, riding the rest of the landing out as she normally did. Of course, it figured her legs would work fine once they'd landed, and she'd cut the trip short.

She chuckled in a breath as she heard Malodore's voice, and leaned back to brush her face against it's beak for a moment, before bending down to give Jericho a long stroke across the neck. Thank you. I'm still not sure why you chose me, Jericho, but, thank you. As usual, that was unforgettable. I only wish I was at my full strength, so I didn't have to-

The adrenaline was wearing off, and her legs seizured just slightly before relaxing of their own volition. She felt herself slipping to one side, and carefully balanced so that she slid off of Jericho and landed on her feet, albeit with a little bit of wobbling. Her arms reached out for Malodore.

Seeing them alright, Jericho soon let out a low, satisfactory rumble from deep within his throat as Riley patted him along the neck. It quickly stopped as her words were cut off and he felt her begin to slip. There wasn't really a way for him to catch her if she fell off right at this instant, but thankfully she had caught her balance.

"Don't worry. You'll be back to normal in no time," he grinned before glancing back towards Malodore to make sure it would be able to dismount with little issue as well.

"Are you still up for a walk or are you ready to head back inside?"
PostPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 11:18 pm

Malodore dismounted, then opened its beak in a smile as Luce tore up to them, its hat carried proudly in her mouth. "Grazie, tresorina - and grazie, molto grazie, to you as well, Jericho," it said, turning to give the dragon a low bow. Then it straightened, sweeping its hat up onto its head as it did so.

I'm fine. How many times had she said that today? And how many times had she been wrong? She brushed the thought off, and bent down to give Luce a pet, but the movement had her nausea and dizziness returning in full force, and she rested her forehead against Jericho's side in frustration. I'm not fine. She growled, clearly angered at her own incapacity. She felt overexerted, and it was a foreign, frustrating debilitation. I should... she didn't even want to say it, it left a foul taste in her mouth. .. go lie down. Her eyes rolled, and she stood slowly, using Jericho for support.

Ugh. She pushed off to stand on her own feet, and headed back into the dorms. I'm just going to.. go.. sleep. Forever. Yes. I will hibernate for a thousand years. The world will crumble around me, and when I resurrect, there will be nothing but a shell left for me to claim.

What a pleasant thought! Her claws raked against the cobblestone walls outside the demon dorms before she opened the door to head inside.
