His mannerisms in that pause didn't go completely unnoticed, and raised a mildly curious blink from Faleen.
Probably inspired from him Faleen's own fingers picked at the tips of her hair, before she tucked them behind her ear.
"Ah, well, I suppose it comes with the job sometimes." She added, "I'm hoping not to go to him completely empty handed though."

Faleen knew what she was getting into; she wasn't so new to the department. "Okay, well," Hayes laughed, impressed despite himself. "Do you want any help with that?" He'd be working on it anyway, so it was a joking echo of his previous offer.

"I would think so, with what skills I fall short you pick up" she pointed out, in her way of saying she kinda needed his help on this.
"You did have an idea I wanted to look into further" She admitted with a tone of thoughtfulness, as if her mind was starting to work on the project already.
She paused though, blinking "... Tomorrow though." Faleen said, half reminding herself of the hour.

"Heh. You make us sound like a pretty good team," the agent chuckled, before his brows lifted. "Oh yeah? What-"
A chill breeze chose that moment to stream past, ruffling the Rocket's hair and damping the desire to go back inside and pull an all-nighter on the project by reminding him it was cold, past midnight, and his colleague - while calm and focused - still looked worse for wear. Hayes reigned himself in with a sheepish smile. "Yeah. Tomorrow."

Well, when he put it like that, she paused and tilted her head,
It was true though, robots and tech needed both hardware and programing.
And she wasn't good with programing.
Replying first with a soft amused hum.
"I guess so."
She knew that they would both probably be up for several more hours if they started to discuss the project,
So, it was begrudgingly that she felt it best to think about it tomorrow.
She nodded when she agreed, hands folding once again behind her back and started up the steps back to the main door.

Hayes made a quiet sound of good-natured amusement. "All right, well. I'm gonna head in." The agent sprinted up the steps and grabbed the door handle. "Have a good night?"
He paused with the door slightly ajar - enough for light to spill out and diffuse a short way across the sand and cast a glow on his features - and since Faleen was right there behind him, went ahead and held it open for her out of habit.

A good night was still up for debate, but at least she was going to have a better one than she was before they went out to sit in the dark.
One thing she could count on, after an active day like this, she would at least sleep well enough.
"You as well Agent Hayes." She returned, politely.
In her life before Rocket, she was quite familiar with the act of a gentleman holding open a door for a lady.
But over the years in Rocket, it wasn't something that was particularly practiced, It didn't matter, she was perfectly capable of opening the door for herself, and she had every intention of walking into the HQ behind Agent Hayes.
But when he stopped, and stepped to the side with the door handle in his hand, clearly letting her to in first, She raised her gaze to him.
"Oh... Thank you."
That was very polite of him.
Giving a polite nod of her head in thanks to him, smiling softly as she accepted his gesture, and quickly stepped into the HQ. Hair once again hiding her pinking ears.

"Sure," came the airy reply, along with a pleasant smile. "Take it easy, Fal."
Hayes waited until Faleen was through before he moved to step inside himself, but paused a moment to look at his hand gripping the door handle, as if just noticing it was there. "..huh," the blond muttered thoughtfully, and stepped inside.
