"Yeah..." he agreed. "Even the packaging looks sketchy. Who would trust something like this, with all these 'guaranteed to work' stickers?" They were obviously trying to instill some kind of psychosomatic response in whomever used them. It was 'guaranteed,' so it had to work! Yeah right.

He moved ahead of Isadora to once more push the door open for her passage, "Merry'll find him. And if not... uhh..." Well, he hadn't really planned for anything in the event the Chimecho failed. "If not, I guess I can try an aerial search with Snow..." The Charmeleon had evolved after a great deal of training, enabling Lucas to make use of its flying capabilities.

Elsewhere in the city, a certain Chimecho was dragging a very guilty-looking Growlithe away from a sweets shop, its pale ribbon grasping at the scruff of its charge in a show of discipline.

User Image Isadora silently nodded her agreement to both Lucas' opinion on the "miracle" stuff and the fact that they must locate the missing Growlithe now that her task was done. She hoped that the little Pokemon hadn't gotten terribly far and that Merry wasn't having any trouble finding him. All they could do was trust in the dependability of the little Chimecho.

A small smile painted the woman's face as Lucas opened the door. Still as kind as ever, he was. "I'm sure they'll be fine," she said reassuringly. "They're plenty responsible." She stepped out onto the sidewalk and took a look around, then turned back to Lucas.

"Well, then, should we find what you need while we wait for them to show up? You said you needed some new shirts, yes?"

"Well, Merry is," he said with a laugh in reply to her appraisal of the pokemon's level of responsibility. "Dunno about Fetch... He's dependable, but 'responsible' might be pushing it." Well, they were sure to run into them eventually, if only because Merry seemed to have some kind of beacon on her trainer that let her find him no matter where he was. He was grateful for her attentiveness, but sometimes it was just creepy how easily she located him...

"Ah, well... Sure, I guess..." He had indeed said that, and he hadn't been lying about it, but he wasn't accustomed to the whole concept of 'shopping.' He was much more used to 'buying' - walking in, picking up the first item that matched his expectations, and paying for it. Adding another person to the equation simultaneously added the factor of potentially being judged for his tastes and choices, but he wasn't about to voice the discomfort any further than an inadvertent change in his tone. It was probably a good idea for him to spend more time with people in general anyway...

User Image Isadora smiled as she chuckled silently to Lucas' description of his own Pokemons' levels of responsibility. It was rather odd to hear him say such things about his teammates, but Isa herself knew that she would be able to gauge her Pokemons' personalities in exactly the same way. After all, who could know you better than both a teammate and a friend?

She glanced over to Lucas, curious about his somewhat hesitant response to her offer. Her shoulders shrugged nonchalantly. "In the end, it's your choice, so you don't have to if you do not want to. Just an offer I'm willing to give."

"Ah, no, I don't mean I don't want to," he waved a hand, dismissing any concern attached to the idea. "Just, it's been like... maybe fifteen-ish years? Since the last time I was shopping with someone, I mean. Well, unless you count, like, going out for food or something... My buddy Morrison and I did that all the time, up until... well... I'm pretty much rambling." A sheepish grin was accentuated by an embarrassed hand raising to his neck in nervous habit. "The point is that I'm fine with it. It's just kind of nostalgic, is all." Off-puttingly so, but he would get over it. Hopefully the point had been made without embarrassing himself too thoroughly. Words truly were not the man's forte.

User Image "Fifteen years," Isadora exclaimed in surprise. Seriously, it had been fifteen years? What had he been doing all that time...? And then Isadora remembered. ...Right. He probably still had Luke to deal with during that time. That might explain it. Naturally, though, Isadora did not voice her thoughts.

After a moment of silence from Isadora, she slowly nodded her head understandingly. "All right. Just making sure. I don't want you to feel like you're being pressured into buying anything." She pushed her glasses farther up the bridge of her nose. "I promise that I won't spend too much time gawking over things I don't need," she said smilingly.

Catching the surprise in her tone - it would have been hard to miss, really - Lucas began to think that maybe shopping wasn't the thing to be embarrassed over. Apparently the fact that it had been fifteen years since he'd last been shopping was much more stunning, and retrospectively he could understand that. Fifteen years was an awfully long time, and shopping was a particularly standard pastime...

"Well, I really do need some stuff," he assured with a shrug, "so it's not like it'd take any pressure or anything. Honestly it's probably good that I do this now... Otherwise I'd just spend all summer with my sleeves rolled up." And that was a statement only half in jest. Another shrug, "Don't let me stop you from browsing if you want. I could probably stand to spend some extra time away from work."

User Image Isadora chuckled softly at Lucas' small joke. She wasn't terribly sure if he was being serious or was joking, so she merely gave her chuckle for politeness's sake.

"All right, then, that works! Let's see if we can find a nice little place to browse, shall we?" As she continued walking, her eyes glanced from store to store, searching for something that would catch her attention. The bag of fancy-smelling items swung lazily at her side. From across the street, she caught sight of a small store with bright windows. Seemed classy, but simple. Perfect.

Isadora grinned and looked back to Lucas. "How about that one? It looks like it might have some nice things. Let's go see!" Without waiting for a reply from her friend, she made her way across the street and entered the store. How exciting this was!
