When the little Vetala returned, she did not return empty-handed. She had a bag slung over her shoulder and clearly didn't think to knock, just inviting herself in like she used to. Well, the one time. Okay, twice. Occasionally.
"See! I promised!" What was left of her face was practically beaming with pride, shuffling back to the desk and dropping the bag to the floor. With an excited flair she started taking things out of the little bag, and before long there were a small bag of store bought FEAR candies, FEAR candies that she made in minipet class, and a few toys (a couple sporting scorch marks or teeth marks or both).

The highlight of all the items was a little book, vaguely titled 'Fire pets and you'. While the Lepus was clearly not a fire beast, she felt the same concepts applied. Still beaming and completely proud of herself, she held the book out to Christof.

"It says 'Don't let them get bored'!" She explained, still holding it out to him.

Christof blinked, looking at the body-snatcher's load with curiosity as she came tumbling back into his room. Treats and... a book? His brows furrowed, not trusting the firey creature on it's cover, but her comment made him glance up. Bored? f course it was bored. Every time he opened it's cage the damn thing tried to escape or rip his stitches apart. Even so, his mouth twisted into an anxious smile as he gave her a nod of thanks.
Relief washed over him... she didn't seem as terrified of him anymore. Had the awkwardness passed? Would he keep his... friend? He needed as many as he could keep, it would seem.

"You can keep it, I have two of them." Amrita informed him matter-of-factly; she bought one, forgot-or-misplaced it, and bought another...only to remember-or-find the other one. It was nice to share, anyway! A closed-eye grin and a backward thumbs up later, she whirled around again to stare at the lepus.
"It's so horrid!" It was a compliment, really! "How long did it take you to make?" She asked, taking out one of the store bought FEAR candies and holding it to the bars, in case it wanted a little treat aside from the finger.

As Christof leaned to write on a scrap of paper on the table, Firth the lepus lowered the finger, eyes narrowed as he considered the undead girl curiously, and then sniff at the treat in her hand.
Christof held his breath. The Lepus lunged.

Amrita kept her fingers, but the digit in the creature's hand was replaced by the treat and it gave a pleased sort of cooing noise as it nibbled away at it.

Sighing, the hunchback moved the paper towards her, which read: Weeks. Needed help from Master Barth and Master Malodore. Good experiment, I think. Successful.

The lunge made her jump, squeak, and latch onto the nearest thing she could...which happened to be a nearby chair. Drape-clinging onto it, she stared wide-eyed at the Lepus, only to squeak-jump again when she noticed something in her peripheral vision.
...Oh. A Paper. Well, she felt silly.

"Very successful! Are you going to make another one? Can I have one?" Apparently the 'nine year old' part of her borrowed brain was kicking in, and she wanted horribly adorable stitched up pets. At least she remembered to hand the paper back.

"Oh! Try this one next!" She keened to the little bunny, taking a FEAR candy from the home made batch and getting the courage to put it to the bars.

He gave a whine in his throat, glancing to the side awkwardly. No... making more was probably not a good idea. Nor was her getting overzealous with the treats. The Lepus seemed to like her though, but he had to wonder if it was all a ploy. The thing was unfortunately smarter than he wanted to give it credit for. Even so, it wiggled it's nose and stared up at her with sparkle-eyed enthusiasm, reaching a little paw out of the cage to try to grab the treat eagerly.
As she was occupied, the hunchback thumbed through the book curiously. Well... it was... a very nice gesture, all the same. He would be sure to return it once he had read it through. Unfortunately, he did not have anything to lend her in return. Save for... well, he had just about memorized it, and Barth and Calder both had copies... he shifted from his chair to go rummage on his cluttered bed-stand, coming up with the book on Sign Language, offering it out to her with a flush and lowered eyes.

Scruff whined, huddling under the workbench, thoroughly disgusted that the new pet was hogging all of the attention... and treats.

Amrita gave the treat to the Lepus and watched him eat it, though the appearance of something in Christof's hand did drag her attention away. Curiousity dragged her to him, reaching out to take the book and eye the cover. Sign language? What...She looked thoroughly confused, looking up at him with a thoughtfully scrunched up face.

"I...signs have language?" She could read signs! She was a good reader. She read all the time! It was a necessity, but...the point was, she did it. Curiousity still driving her, she flipped it open and looked at the pictures. "Oh! Hands. Speaking with hands?" Puckering her lips thoughtfully, she sank to the floor, knees raised, and looked through the book.

"...I didn't know you could do this!" She quipped, clearly impressed. The book was perched on her knees and she tried to mimic what she was seeing with her backwards hands; it was not easy.

Smiling gently, he watched her... attempt. At least she didn't have to communicate this way, it was just so she could understand HIM. He slowly lowered himself to sit on the floor as well, hands moving slowly so she could look up the movements if she didn't understand them.I-Lend-You . Still smiling nervously, he raised a finger to his temple in another movement, giving a grunt in his throat.

Soon enough one hand was used for the attempt at sign language, which left her free to absently dimple her lower lip with the nails of her free hand in concentration. There was a lot to look at, a lot to learn, and though Amrita wanted to - and she really, really wanted to - this particular task seemed particularly daunting.

"Mmm? Uhhhhh..." Realizing he was signing to her, she did use the book as a reference and after much too long, figured out what it was he meant. "...Oh! W-well, thank you! That is very nice of you...I don't, um, know how good I'll be..." She trailed off, lifting her hand to show her twisted wrist; apparently she was under the impression she had to actually learn it.

"But! I'll do my best, thank you!"
