This time, Ever did the other maneuver that usually saved his a** in a fight: he twisted out of Zac's reach and ran like hell, long legs stretched out to swallow up ground so that there was no chance at catching anything. Put space between them. Give him room to think. Throw something from a distance -- he really wasn't sure.
Of course, eventually he'd run into a wall, and that was going to be a real problem as well. And he didn't have the lung capacity to go for long, too much smoke ravaging his system, so he was breathless when he finally whirled to see if Zac was chasing.

Zac followed, panting, but at least it looked like he'd started out running, now it was defiantly a more measured pace
"Goddamn-it!" He cursed wheezing. "I'm going to cut you off at the knees one of these days..."
He paused resting his hands on his knees and straitened just long enough to fling a piece of chalk at Ever.
He had the pack of it in his pocket.

Ever yelped and ducked, hands over his head, quick enough that the chalk missed -- but not so quick in that he'd marked himself, a pale streak of pink through the white mess of his hair, and a little bit nicking across one eyebrow.
At least when he straightened, it was with the chalk held out at the ready and his eyes picking out Zac immediately, even if he was heaving for breath himself, looking a little pale. Fighting down a cough, one that rattled his breathing and stuck in his throat.

"Congratulations on taking your first scalp... shame it was yours." Zac panted putting his hands on his knees again and then frowning in concern.
"Um... You alright?" He added and waved a tired hand at Ever's pale countenance. "You look like...bride of Dracula with the flu... need to sit down?"

He held up a finger, vague, in Zac's direction, even as he sagged against the wall behind him. The cough bubbled up slowly, sounding wet and unpleasant, and he turned his face into the crook of his arm to hack it out. Spat unpleasantly onto the floor next to him. Maybe he did need to cut back just a little bit on the cigarettes.
"Damn." It came out kind of faint, the point of his chalk wobbling in the air before it dropped. His voice still had a thready edge to it. "Well, that sucked. I'm, um. I guess I'm out of shape."

Zac gave him a suspicious stare, combined with a look of disgust at the thick wet rattle and spit, before he gave in and moved cautiously if concernedly forward.
"Maybe if you didn't suck those smog sticks down so much." He said judgmentally. "Being in uniform helps but I don't think it will keep you from popping a LUNG."

"I'll stop when you stop nitpicking and worrying over every stupid little thing." The point behind it was clear: they both had their issues, and quitting wasn't as simple as just putting down the pack of cigarettes and taking a step back. Quitting, after a good three years of regular smoking, was an involved and uncomfortable process, and one that Ever really didn't care to start, just now.
He shifted a little against the wall as Zac got close, and maybe the tension would give him away. Ever meant to spring to attention and swipe at Zac, but it came across a little weak, still fuzzy in the after-effects of his little coughing fit. Still, if he caught the young man by surprise...

"Nit picking saves lives! Smoking doesn't!" so defensive was easier than admitting you had a problem too. He was irritated enough, or maybe just trusting enough that he didn't make his dodge. He threw up an arm to try and defend himself and ended up with a line of Pink that went from elbow to wrist and just a bit on his shirt.
He gave an angry huff staring at it and looked like he was about to say something furious, probably about cheating.
"... well done." He managed at last though it sounded like it was as satisfying as chewing on steel wool.

"Um." He offered Zac a brief flash of a smile and a twitchy shrug, drawing in a few deep breaths. Only rattled a little now. Maybe he'd recovered enough...
"Maybe we should be doing this in uniform." As much as it pained him to say it, he did have better strength and stamina there, and...thus far, this wasn't really changing the way he would react in a fight. Run. Play dumb. Surprise. Those were Ever's tools in a very limited arsenal...
"I don't know. Is this...helping?"

"I can't think of anything that practice doesn't help... unless your practicing something wrong." he said and glanced around before the shift into uniform. It lacked the strange glamor of a senshi transformation, one second Zac the next second Zinkenite.
"Learning to dodge an attack, to read it before it gets there could save your life, ESPECIALLY if you read the senshi database and have an idea of how their power works." He said and suddenly dipped low, forgoing the chalk to try and sweep Ever's legs out from under him.

He got it, relatively easy, Ever still blinking at him for a moment before he went down in a graceless tangle of limbs and a flutter of cursing. He dissolved into a second round when he tried to use one hand to catch himself and only succeeded in tearing open his palm again.
"...ow." It was a whimper, definitely a whimper, wussy and entirely unapologetic about it. That hurt, and he didn't try to get up, just settled flat on his back and closed his eyes for a moment. "You know what else would safe my life? Back line..."

"... I can see we need to work on falling too...maybe we should get some gym mats." He stood, hopefully out of arms reach studying his handywork.
"Up!" he demanded. "Up or I'm sitting on you.... how's that hand?"
Such an odd mixture of pure demanding and orders, and just enough sympathy you make it worse.

"It hurts..." The whiny edge to Ever's voice made even him wince, closing his eyes and definitely not getting up just yet. Instead he stayed on the ground, maybe daring Zink to sit on him, or perhaps just working through his thoughts while he had the peace to do so.
"I just. Need a weapon." It really might help, something beside too-long, too-skinny limbs, his own inherent lack of grace.

Zink -stared- at him for a long moment.
Damnit he hated having to follow through on a threat... but still. He marched over, turned around and planting himself squarely on Ever's chest.
"So power up...we'll work with you're damned Duct tape... I do have an idea for that." He folded his arms and crossed one knee over the other like he was trying for a staring roll in 'Aladdin' with Ever cast as the flying Carpet.

Zink knocked the breath out of him with the seat, Ever's eyes opening again at least and a sound of protest dying in his throat. He had been warned, yes, and the surprise turned to flustered amusement. Unexpected. He hadn't exactly thought it was a bluff -- but only because Ever hadn't thought that long about it.
"...um. Ow?" This time it was less whiny though, and more confused. He meant for it to sound laughing. It failed. Ever licked his lips and shifted into uniform, an arm snaking up around Zink's waist...
And once he was powered up, stronger than human, it was easy enough to lever the young man up off of him and stand, catching his breath just a little.
