Something seems to stir in the fog, and then leaps towards you!

HP: 4

Damage to Delta Four: 3

[Delta Four attacks the fog monster!]

"What the-?!" Delta Four reeled back, grimacing as the thing raked her arm, letting out a short cry. "This was SUPPOSED to be a safe place... apparantly not?! Argh!" Whipping out her dagger, she plunged it towards the creature.

She didn't hear any other voices yet, but that was probably because she was dealing with whatever monstrosity this thing was.

(( Weapon Damage: 3 / 2 = 1.5, rounded up it is 2 points of damage.
Delta Four's HP: 28 - 3 = 25HP

The shadow monster rebounded as the dagger scraped along its shadowy spine. It landed on two feet and snapped its silent mouth in protest before leaping at her again. Unfortunately the shadowy figure ended up tripping itself and tumbling down at her feet without doing a bit of damage.

Delta Five resisted the urge not to laugh under the circumstances, and whipped her dagger down again, hoping not to miss while the thing was right at her feet.

When the creature vanished after one silent wail, Theta Nine stood there for a moment, waiting to see if it would reappear somewhere else. He wasn't going to put teleportation past it. After a few seconds, he moved closer to the site where he had last seen the creature, but there was nothing to be found, not a body, not even track marks when he bent to touch the fog-veiled ground. This... wasn't right. But this wasn't the only thing wrong with this scenario.

Hearing Delta Four's words, he shook his head and straightened up. "Who told you that? There's nowhere safe here, I'm starting to think." It didn't seem as though anyone was going to come by and attack him just yet (he thinks, he /hopes/), so he took the opportunity to look at his cell phone. It had been buzzing earlier, but weird attacking critter definitely trumped text messages at the time. "Wonder what they want those Thetas and Deltas for." In lieu of any forthcoming clues about the situation, he settled for rummaging through his backpack for the bandages while casting the occasional glance over at Delta Four's battle. He didn't bother to suppress a chuckle when the shadowy monster tripped.

Delta Four sighed as she glanced up to the speaker, placing her knife in her belt. "Just an assumption. A stupid assumption." She offered her hand out. "You can call me Delta Four. Looks like no matter the team, we might as well stick together."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 4:43 pm

"It's okay," said Theta Nine. One hand continued to rummage through the backpack, but the other reached out to shake Delta Four's offered hand. "Assumptions are all we have anymore, other than our packs and our kits. I sure don't remember much beyond what the guy in the classroom said." He looked up at her hopefully. Maybe she remembers more? Then he cast an appraising eye over what he could see of her injuries. "Were you hurt much, when you were fighting?"

[Entering from Boss Fight]

Delta Six was still kneeling on the ground, head dizzy, as she glanced around slowly. A few shadowy figures could be seen through the floating mist.

"Delta Seven? Delta Four? Delta Twelve?" she called out tremulously, hoping to find someone who, she assumed, could be an ally.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 4:55 pm

"I don't remember anything, sorry." She shrugged, nonchalant. "Not hurt too bad, so it's not a big deal. I'll use my bandages when I'm really injured. I can handle it at the moment."

"Over here!" She waved at Delta Six, smiling under the mask. "Hey, you alright?"

"Sounds good." Theta Nine finally found the bandages he had been looking for. A quick glance down at his own injuries judged them less severe than those of Delta Four, so he just tucked them back away again.

Delta Six's words drew his attention next. "Hello," he offered, quite amiable. The teal accents on his protective gear clearly marked him as a member of the other team, though he didn't seem overtly hostile at the moment. "We should probably get out of here. There are quite a few shadow creatures roaming around, from what I've seen."

She jumped at the sound of D4's voice, and rose to her feet. A wave of the fog rolled by, and finally she saw the familiar green figure standing not far away.
With a relieved smile, she forgot the sick feeling in her stomach for a moment, and sprinted towards her.
"Four! God, what just happened? Were you there? There was a group of Thetas attacking Delta Seven and--" She was interrupted by a beeping at her belt, and looked down to find a new text message waiting. Her heartbeat leapt for a moment as she read the summons, followed by relief, and then guilt-- she hadn't been called, but Delta Seven had. D6 let out a breath that she hadn't noticed she'd been holding.

"I'm alright," she replied quietly, "but I don't think Delta Seven is. What cove? Are they, whoever brought us here, are they going to kill these people with more of their monsters? And we'll be next--" Her voice rose in hysterics as she spoke, and she squeezed her eyes shut to stop panicked tears from escaping.

[Woops, sorry, didn't see your post! I hope double posting like this is okay orz]

Struggling to keep her breathing even, Delta Six looked over at the sound of a stranger's voice. She jumped back for a moment, recognizing his teal suit as the color of those who had been attacking Delta Seven, but lowered her guard at the cordial tone in his voice.

"Shadow creatures?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 5:16 pm

"I don't know." Delta Four answered honestly. "I was trying to keep Delta Seven's a** from being killed, and the fog just got thicker." She tilted her head at what Delta Six said, and reached down to look at her text message. Sure enough, they had been called. "... curiouser and curiouser. Maybe we are being picked off one by one. We'll just have to wait for those members to get back before we talk to them." She turned to Theta Nine. "Did you talk to any of your squad before they left?"

[ entering from boss fight ]

The fog had gotten thicker here, thicker than what Twelve was used to. “Dammit. Is anyone there?” he called out, his voice seeping with annoyance. It didn’t matter if he encountered someone from the opposing team or even a monster. He simply wanted to be rid of this feeling of loneliness gnawing in his stomach. When he spotted a group of shadows up ahead, he shouted again. “Hello?”

The length of his strides increased as he eagerly closed the distance between himself and the figures. “Four! Six! . . . Nine?” He leaned forward to examine the Roman numerals scribbled across the Theta boy’s helmet.

[[ Gotta go for a few hours. orz;; ]]

"Shadow creatures," Theta Nine parroted back with a nod for emphasis. Quick to realize how unhelpful that was, he clarified, "They come out of the mist and swipe at you. When they've had enough of fighting, they seem to just melt back right back."

He made as if to rake his hand through his hair, but his hand connected with a dull thunk against the side of his gas mask instead. Frowning behind his mask, he continued, "So far, they've been easier to get rid of than that fire-breathing horse thing earlier, but no guarantees. And last I saw of my squad members, they were fighting for the pendant, or vanishing off into the ether. One wanted to hide out in the lighthouse. Maybe we can find her?"

He tipped a nod at Twelve. "Nine," he confirmed. "But not Delta Nine, if that makes a difference."

( sorry, I disappeared, guys! Q A Q had to go get betas orzorz sorrysorry to barge in orz )

To be entirely honest with herself, Theta-two was extremely relieved to hear a voice return her call. Stumbling in the general direction of possibly-friendly-person-number-one, she twisted and felt her way through the fog until Theta-nine was clear and visible before her. Panting slightly, she shifted her knapsack, Excalibur in hand, and opened her mouth to say something. Only, she wasn't sure what. So she settled on, "How ya doin'?" Which, in retrospect, sounded like some lame pick up line, and was pretty damn stupid. Fumbling a bit, the girl straightened, hands flying to tangle in the hair that she couldn't reach and swearing when she realized that her habits-from-a-past-she-didn't-remember were going to drive her insane. "Do you know where we are? The fog is going to drive me up a wall."

Of course, idle conversation didn't last long when someone else started up. Snapping her head up, the girl peered into the fog, barely making out the figure of another gas mask trooper and... evil minion creature number one. "Hey," She started in a slightly jittery tone, reaching out to tug at Theta-nine's arm without really thinking too much. Hopefully he wouldn't stab her, or do something equally crazy. "Hey, hey, hey, what the ******** are those things?" Realizing her hands and their placement, she quickly reeled back, though she did manage to shimmy after the other when he started to rummage through the backpack and walk towards the other gas mask person. Delta-four, she called herself. Peeking from around the Theta's shoulder, she gave a wave, even though she doubted the other had been talking to her in the first place. Maybe she had been social in her past life. Or maybe she just didn't want to be alone.

Heart skipping a beat when a new voice called out, Theta-two's head snapped up. "Nope," She mumbled, her head starting to ache from all the numbers. Slinking towards Delta-six, she offered another wave, though she didn't come into the others personal space, not wanting to make her jump. "Theta-two," She announced with a confident, amiable, if not a bit shaky tone. "Pleasure, I think." Of course, the pleasure only lasted a few seconds before the girl started speaking to Delta-four, her voice rising into a fit of hysterics that Theta-two hadn't thought possible before. Quickly enough, she shied back to Theta-nine's side.

"Uhm,"
She said to him after a long moment of contemplation. "Do you mind if I tag along? Being alone.. doesn't sound like much fun out here right now. And I mean, you all seem..." She paused then, struggling over a word. "... Yeah" Okay, so she didn't know where she was going with that, and her conversation skills might have needed a bit of practice, but at least she was getting somewhere. Silencing herself, she simply listened to the others words, waiting for a reason to pipe up again. After all, maybe they knew more than she did, and in a place where information seemed to be a key to survival, who didn't want a piece of that?
