He removed his carapace, since it at least seemed safe to remove it for now. He started moving elsewhere around the city to at least relax or something. Lauren arrived at the rockface, as she was directed by a poorly scrawled not in the academy. She assumed someone would meet her here, so she waited around while kicking rocks do to severe boredom.

While Lauren waited, she figured she might as well get some work done. She dumped a bunch of meta, wires, and tool on the ground, and began to shuffle through them. Eventually, she found what she was looking for, a small glass ball which contained a silvery liquid. [1/5]
Lauren then began to flip through the schematics she had drawn, going over each detail several times. She began pulling out pieces she needed and set them aside for later use. Now it was time to build the bot. [2/5]
Lauren started by constructing the internal frame. This would keep all the major wiring and glass ball safe from harm for the most part. She picked up a few rounded pieces of metal and welded them together, along with a concave piece on the bottom. [3/5]
Lauren placed the silver ball into the inner frame and sealed it. Next was the wiring and functional things. Lauren began to thread wires to different devices within the frame, including to a small tesla coil near where the "eye" would be. She fitted a few plates around it, and added some blue LEDs to give off the effect of a giant glowing blue eye. She placed a glass lense over it, and was ready to finish. [4/5]
Before Lauren put the shell on, she had one last thing to do. She tapped a hard case on her belt, and it popped open, revealing several microchips. She pulled out one specific one, marked with a fancily written "B" on it, and placed it in a special slot near the top of the construct. After inserting the chip, Lauren put the outer shell on it, finishing off her bot. She tapped where she put the chip in, and it sparked to life. [5/5]
The bot began to spin around inside it's outer shell, looking like an eye moving in it's socket. It seemed to blink once or twice before beginning to speak. "Unit Bailey, fully opperational." it said in a robotic that sounded a lot like it's maker. Lauren smiled as her creation came to life. She placed it on the ground, and continued to wait for a teacher to arrive, or something of the sort.

Lauren began thinking of how she could further the effectiveness of Bailey. It would be helpful if she could have a view of what the bot would see, and maybe some other features. She began digging through books and schematics she took, and found one for a HUD. She studied over the schematics and got the parts she needed from her stash, and began to build. [1/3]
She began by making a piece that would clip to the ear and go over the eye, much like a DBZ scouter. She wired up the headset to a connector and a glass eye piece. After she was done, she had created a simple head piece. [2/3]
Lauren tapped her chip case and searched for the right combination she'd need. She began to plug them into function slots in the HUD, Bailey, and as a bonus, into her weapons. She created a button on the side of her HUD com that would allow her to switch her view to the HUD and Bailey's view. As an added bonus, if she held the button, it turned into a headset. [3/3]

(oops, i just saw i couldnt make that last one till i had a certain skill...so i'm gonna say i still made that, but do this too)
Lauren began flipping through some of the books she picked up in the offices. They spoke of things that other mechanists have made. Tiny gadgets and add-ons that other mechanists have made. She began to study them and decided to make some of her own. [1/10]
She started with the basics of a scope. She looked over basic schematics for them, and found they used a series of refractory lenses. She began to look through her stuff that she could take apart for prototype scope. [2/10]
She found some simple cameras and removed the lenses. She began to fashion a cylindrical tube and fit the lenses into it. When she lifted the scope to her eye, what she saw was zoomed by a slight magnitude. It wasnt as powerful as a normal scope, but it was a start. [3/10]

Next, Lauren began to read over the books, studying more complex electrical circuits and mechanics. She decided to create a small shutter camera to test it out. [4/10]
She used the pieces from the cameras she used for her scope, and even the scope it's self, to create the camera. She started by building the outer casing, and fitting all the basic parts. [5/10]
Next, she inserted a spinning part attached to the shutters on the lens. As the parts spun in one direction, the shutters shut, then opened when they moved the other way. She began to connect copper wires to the circuitry and finished her device. [6/10]

Lauren next began reading up on radios and how they work. She flipped through several books about emitters and recievers and wave frequency. A lot of it went right over her head, but she had a rough idea of how they'd work. [7/10]
She began dismantling radios and looking at how the inner parts worked. she tinkered around with the wiring and things till she thought she could build on on her own terms. [8/10]
Lauren began to cut and attach wires and put tiny bits together, forming the inner workings of a radio headset. Though it had no shell and was just a bunch of parts connected by wires, it still functioned. [9/10]
With these new basic skills, Lauren knew she would be able to up her chances in battle and in general life by a huge multiple. She cleaned up her mess and began to look through more schematics for things she might be able to build. [10/10]

Lauren got tired of waiting, so she head off to the captain's place. Maybe she could find some people there. Captains were incharge of training and ranking anyway. She set off in the direction of the captains house with Bailey zooming along side her.

Lauren came back to the rock face to train some more. She pulled out both her pistols and began shooting at a pair of training dummies, imagining the faces of the two men who blew her off. As she filled the dummies full of holes, a satisfied smile grew on her face.

Zeb set foot in the training grounds and was willed to train further. There was something he was missing. He focused for a minute trying to think. It occurred to him. He formed a rather large hand, which launched forward in a jabbing motion. He was still missing something though.
He held out his hand for a minute and thought about it. He took a step forward before forming a rather long and thin spear like object. He leaned back, lifted one leg, and whipped forward like throwing a baseball. The might spear went speeding upwards, straight into a wall. But not before lodging itself pretty far. He was once again content and sat down, waiting.

Lauren, having now calmed down, tossed her bad of spare parts on the ground. She began digging through them and found several parts needed for the click shield. The shield she would design would be attached to one of her gloves, an activated by pressing a button on the palm. [1/3]
Lauren began by building the base of the shield. She drew insiration from folding fans. They would shrink up, but then expand into massive objects. She shaped several pieces of metal into a circle form that would expand outward, but shink inward. [2/3]
She began to assemble her creation and attach it to her glove. The glove would look the same, only it would have a small metal circle on the top, no bigger than a coin. Lauren clentched her fist to hit the button, and a metal shield fanned out from the small circle. When she released her grip, the fan went back in to the circle. [3/3]
