Kai laughed as Maru began walking away from the field. He clearly heard his whole speal about respect, even though he probably wasn't meant to."Hey, Maru! Come on, don't be so stingy. Score a goal your first game and the nickname is gone!" He also didn't want to pull any cards out of his hand. Being sly and a bit tricky was always Kai's cup of tea.
He turned to look at an onlooker towards their practice. At first, it was simply two wolves, one grown, the other just a pup. Not something uncommon (but then again, the only uncommon thing here was normality,) the wolf transformed into a human and jogged over to them. "Welcome to the Co-ed Soccer Team practice. I'm Kai, Captain of this here group, what can I do for ya?"

Alex stopped and noticed that Haikimaru has walking away and that he made the fire appear, being new she wanted to meet a friend who could make fire too. She flew over to him and said "You know that family picks on each other. He is doing it out of love." Then she wondered how he got that nickname. "By the way how did you get that nickname?" Alex asked trying to get him to turn around and walk to the field. Then she wanted to add that she could make fire too, but being an angel she thought he would criticise her so she kept it to herself.

Haikimaru didn't return to the group in fact he looked blankly at the girl. He let out a growl telling her that he was some type of animal. "Family respects each other and knows when it's proper to use words. In fact my nickname isn't Maru. My close friends call me Haiki." He made sure that only his close friends were allowed to nickname.

Alex looked at him because he made a growl. "Well didn't you hear him? The nickname would be stopped if you get a goal. And come on lighten up, if you are mad take it out on the ball and you just might make it in the net." Alex said trying to be nice, then when the group was gone she added "How long have you been on this team?"

Haikimaru didn't want to wait. He refused to do anything to not be called Maru. He knew that people should have to work that hard to earn their name back. "I'm an exchange student from Japan. I only been on this team for a year and I've played soccer since elementary school. With being captain a total of four years."

Alex said "Well just try and if you dont make it then you can leave. You and pierre are practilly the only people i know on this team and I can't loose one of my friends." and with that she though about flying away but she did not and decieded to stay with him.

Haikimaru's eyes turned into a glare. "I shouldn't have to try. I shouldn't need to do extra work when I know what I can do and I'm not you're friend. Remember that." He warned her. Why would he want to be friends with her. There was no reason to want her. He had his own friends.

Alex frowned and said before she flew away. "One more thing just note that I was the only one who came back to make sure that you were ok." then she flew away and mumbled to herself "I try to be nice and this is the thanks I get. Maybe i am a dark angel after all. No more holy angel." Then she flew over to the soccer field and landed on the roof nearest to the field.

Kai sighed, noticing Maru start to leave. It was unfortunate, yes, but he didn't need a player who was so wound tight he wouldn't take a joke. Serious players never did well on the field. If Haikimaru couldn't hack the joke, he was worthless to him. He turned to the wolf boy, "If you wanna join in, just jump in somewhere. I'll place you where I need you most if you're good enough. I gotta take care of something."
He turned back around and shrugged at Alex as she flew over to the field. Looks like he really would have to try something else to keep Haikimaru to stay. The guy seemed pretty prideful, he'd use that against him for sure. "Everyone give a round of applause to Maru!" He started clapping slowly, but, very loud. Louder than his shouts at the player. "He's quitting the team after a year of playing for us! Give him a proper farewell! Guess he can't hit the broad side of a barn with that shot of his!"

As Alex sat down she jumped down from the roof and saw that people were clapping. Then she saw the coach yellling at him, she walked over and asked "So what is our first game?" then she looked over at Haikimaru.

The coach knew he had to stop this. "Knock it off Kai. You can't get through cultural barriers. Haikimaru is an exchange student who has been playing for quit a while. You need to read more about the news about monster schools in Japan." The man comment. "This club can't play any games until I approve. I think we need to work on learning about each other before we start any games." Pierre broke rank and started to follow Haikimaru. He really didn't say anything before leaving.

Alex was fed up with the players and went to the field and put the soccer ball in the middle of the field and ran backwards to kick the ball. Then she ran as fast as she could to the ball and kept her leg straight and kicked the ball. When she looked up the ball was in the net, right in the middle.

Kai scoffed. "We don't need him if he's gonna go cry over a silly nickname." He looked sternly at the coach, "And I really don't care about monster schools in Japan. It has nothing to do with the sport. They can devour their kids for all I care. If he can't take a joke like that, he can't be good at teamwork. Teamwork comes from friendly bonds."
Kai looked back at Pierre, and decided it would be best if Kai folded his hand on this one. The game was getting rough, and if anything, he needed to keep a good rep with the rest of the players. Hopefully, Pierre would pull through for him, and get Maru back on the team. "If he decides to rejoin us, the nickname stays. I need him to accept the name, if he does that, I'll accept him as a player. Until then, I want him on the bench, or off the team."
If there was anything Kai took seriously, it was building an appropriate team. Kai didn't value skill as much as he valued teamwork. A bunch of great players could never out do an average team with great teamwork. It took a lot of time to build strong bonds amongst the team, and training a player to become 'good' in practice simply took motivation.
"Alright everyone you heard the coach, gather in a circle." Kai took a ball, and held it in place with his foot. "This here is the Biography Ball. If it's passed to you, you gotta name off something about yourself. I'll start. My full name is Malachi Albion Valentine. Freshman year my nickname was Malon, taken from the first three letters in Malachi, and the last two in Albion. It got replaced with Kai when I became a starter." He passed the ball to another player, who named off a fact or two, and he passed it on.
((OOC: Prodi-G to keep with continuity, pretend a player passed you the ball or something, unless you want to keep whatever it is you're doing, going.))

Angel sighed. This kid didn't get it. "I try to learn about the team. For example did you know in Japanese they don't let just anyone call them anything. You can call him Haikimaru or by his last name Taninaka. Giving him a nickname is an insult." Angel informed the captain. Angel knew that from his days as a business man running all over the place for his boss.

Kai looked over at the coach, telling him it was an insult to give him a nickname. "That's the thing, coach. We aren't just 'anyone' we're his teammates. We have to have a bond between us like comrades in battle. We can't just be anyone to him, we got to be his comrade."
Kai turned to watch the team pass the ball back and forth, the ball occasionally getting stuck between two people as they pretty much spilled their entire life to the team before they passed it to others. "The nickname was simply a way to pull him into the team, so he'd stand out amongst us, and we'd know him as a comrade. If Maru see's us as just 'anyone', you and I both know his use in a game will be mighty limited."
