"Ahhh..." I eat bugs... real sexy there, don't tell him that stupid. He had stopped himself before saying something really stupid.
"I get by, there's a lot on this island. People have gone out and hunted, and there's plenty of things like berrys and such too. You know, stuff you can find on the ground." Timothy half chuckled.
"Wait..." Timothy reached into his shorts pockets really quickly and pulled out a bit of jerky that he'd been given by Chubbs and Joilette. He hadn't wanted to take it at first, but he'd kept a bit of it.
"Here you go..." he offered it to Avery.

"I don't know if I could hunt to save my life," Avery chuckled. "I'd get all squeamish about killing something... I couldn't do it." He lifted his head back up when Timothy offered him the jerky. "Really? Are you sure?" he smiled at him. "Thank you..." he took the offered piece of food.
"We can split it," Avery said, struggling with tearing the jerky in half for a moment before finally succeeding. He offered the other half back to Timothy. "Here ya go."
He put his half of the jerky into his mouth, chewing slowly. He never thought he'd have to rely on scraps of food that was given to him, or need to scavenge on his own. He was grateful so far that he was having help on the island. If he ended up here alone, and no one had found him... Avery had no idea what he would have done.

"Tha... thanks Avery." Timothy chewed slowly, not as much hungry as just not wanting to turn down Avery's gesture.
"Yeah, it bothers me a bit too." he half laughed, who was he kidding he hadn't really killed anything, besides some bugs. "...but I'd do it for you of course."
Eep, did I say that! Timothy realized quickly that he should change the subject
"So how did you end up here on this island if no one brought you?" Timothy wondered, though he'd already speculated if someone up there was feeling really nice towards him.

Avery stopped chewing when Timothy said he would hunt for him, surprised. What did he mean by that..? he wondered briefly, until the subject was suddenly changed.
Thinking about what happened on the boat... no, Avery didn't want to remember it. He finished chewing the jerky and swallowed, before he answered. "I... I fell. Off a cruise ship," he said quietly. What happened on that ship was something Avery had never had to deal with before. He knew about those kinds of people, of course; he just never thought he'd run into any...
He shuddered, and rubbed his stomach a bit, remembering the first punch to the gut he received. It still hurt... he definitely had a bruise there; one of many.

"No one rescued you?" Timothy looked upset. I mean who wouldn't rescue someone as pretty as Avery.
"Atleast you didn't fall for a stupid trick... I should have gone to college. My music doesn't get me far here." Timothy sighed. Why was he doing this, why did he have to make it about him when what he should be doing was being strong for Avery.
It was a really nice name... Timothy noted absentmindedly.

"Well, someone did try to rescue me... he jumped off the boat to save me... but he ended up on the island, too," Avery sighed. It's all my fault Rex is stuck here... I hope he's okay.
"I don't think anyone's skills will get them very far on this island... and besides, your music helped calm me down at least; I think that's worth something!" Avery smiled at him. "Anyway, I think if I had to end up here, I would have rather been tricked than fall overboard... it would have been a lot less painful, that's for sure."

"Thanks for that atleast..." Timothy smiled, but it was half hearted since he'd brought up that Rex guy first.
"So I guess you owe him kind of huh..." Timothy darted his eyes. "Is he cute." Stupid stupid stupid... but it was the only way that Timothy could think of to broach the subject.
But the last thing you want him doing is thinking about Rex if you want him to think about you. Even his own thoughts were turning against him now.
Timothy felt akward and comfortable at the same time, it was odd.
Still, Timothy had to know. I mean he'd sort of assumed that Vasile had liked guys from the way he dressed and walked and boy had he been wrong. He didn't exactly have experience in the "gay-dar" department as cheesy as that was.

Avery's eyes widened in surprise at first, and then he chuckled. For a shy guy, he sure had his moments. "Actually, now that you mention it... yeah, he was," Avery grinned. "He's one of those tall muscular guys, you know? I think he's way too, ahh - manly, I guess is a good way to put it - to be into other guys, though. At least," he amended, "that was my impression. He's a nice guy, though."
"... so, ah... I take it you're into guys too, then?" Avery asked, smiling at him again.

He said too... he said too... course that doesn't mean he'd like you you furry dummy.
"Well... yeah... atleast I think I am." he shrugged.
Don't mention Vasile, don't mention Vasile.
"I didn't... ahhh... figure it out, till I got here." he chuckled.
He looked nervous bringing this up, but it just sort of came out, "I spent a lot of time in my room... previous to this. I hung out with mostly girls but I figured they were just the type I thought of as friends. I had people tease me, about... being ummm... into guys." Well not in those words.
"But I just tried to ignore them." he looked over at Avery"I wonder if they'd say if they found out they were right... probably something mean to go with it." he was trying so hard not to sound silly.

"Oh yeah? I realized I was bi when I was... seventeen, I think. I don't remember the occasion that made me realize it, but I know I was around that age." Avery fell silent for a moment, thinking about what Timothy just revealed to him. He has the guts to talk about it to me... why can't I?
"I... I got teased, too. On the boat..." Avery glanced over at Timothy. "These guys cornered me when I was alone, at night, and started saying some really cruel things. I never... before this, I never had to deal with it. None of my friends were bothered by it, you know? And I tried to run - 'cause hell if I could fight them off - but they grabbed me, and..." Avery trailed off, not wanting to continue. It was obvious that this was taking a lot of effort for him to get out.

Oh! Bisexual... well I guess that atleast means he has choices around here. Internally Timothy found himself a little disappointed.
"That's horrible..." Timothy said as he was told about the actual incident. Atleast he told me.
"I got beaten up, a few times... never anything too bad though. The girls I knew would always stand up for me... kind of embarrasing." he hugged Avery close. Hoping that maybe he'd tell him more, not because he wanted Avery to be reminded of it, but just because... he wanted Avery to trust and like him.
He knew, inside, that he was moving too fast but that didn't change his interest. Even if deep down somewhere, he wasn't sure that interest was really for Avery.

Avery was surprised with Timothy hugged him, but he didn't think anything of it. After all, he was used to hugging people all the time, even if he hardly knew him. It was just the kind of person Avery was - he put his arms around Timothy, hugging him back.
"Nothing wrong with girls standing up for you... that's what friends do, right? Doesn't matter what gender they are," he shrugged.
"Hey... don't tell anyone about what I told you, okay? I don't really... want it getting around... I won't tell anyone what you told me, either."

He was glad that Avery didn't seem to be judging him based on what he'd told him. He... really did like being around this guy.
"Deal..." Timothy grinned. He felt happy that Avery had sort of confinded in him. He'd defintly be keeping quiet about it.
Timothy yawned, involentarly. Getting more and more tired as he heard the steady trickle of water outside. It was soothing, relaxing, and so we being here tonight. He began to feel himself doze off against Avery.

"Good," Avery murmured quietly, feeling quite tired himself. His eyes were already starting to droop, and he felt quite comfortable leaning against the other boy. It had been a long day, and Avery was still having trouble wrapping his mind around everything. It was so, so much easier to just ignore it all; to stop worrying about how to get home, stop worrying if Rex was okay, and to stop worrying if he would end up as another one of this crazy doctor's experiments.
Avery yawned widely - why were yawns so contagious, anyway? he thought - and fell quiet, drifting off into some much needed sleep.
