Calder had wandered away, and Seiji had spent the remainder of the day sticking to Jove like glue. There'd been much ocean watching and exploring of the boat, and an unsuccessful hunt for beds(Seriously? Where the ******** were the beds!?). Really, things on board the bug ship were relatively uneventful, at least so far. Somehow the jikininki didn't believe the calm would last, but he was fulling willing to enjoy it while he can. The lazy afternoons on board provided lots of time of relaxing, napping, and texting of his ghoulfriend. One she'd sent him in particular had been adorable. New message to Junko Ha, funny. So far so good, there doesn't appear to be any leaks. You be careful, too. Keep me updated! Jove says Hi. Speaking of Jove, where had that pup gotten to? Coming up from below deck in nothing but a pair of black shorts and a short sleeved shirt unbuttoned over nice set of abs, the hungry ghost nudged his shades down to shield his eyes from the sun. Gaze roaming over the rotted deck for any sign of the little whisp. He spotted Lizzy and Calder, but so far no puppy. There were only places on a boat the younger boil could be. Frowning, Seiji crammed his hands into his pockets, fingers curling around the phone in his pocket. Better get searching. "Jove?" He didn't bother yelling, it was so jack damned calm on their ship that a simple raised voice carried over then entire deck.

From half way up the rigging, fluffy ears perked up.
Jove had been making himself comfortable on the ship, taking quite well to life aboard once his initial uncertainties were put to rest. There was much running back and forth across the deck, and much unnecessary guarding of Alessa, and finally plenty of sitting around and snoozing while being bored out of his mind. By the second day he had given up on boots, preferring to running around barefoot on the slippery deck, and by the fourth day he was climbing around on the rigging in hopes of seeing the other ships in the distance. Perhaps not the best activity from the point of view of those who had been asked to look out for him, but it kept the pup temporarily entertained.
He crawled a little ways down the ropes, and settled in to watch Seiji wander about below. It really was a different perspective from up in the air, was this a little bit like what taller students felt looking down at him?

On a whim the older boil glanced up as he wandered under the elaborate rigging that stretched up to either side of their tattered mast. Like any young boil of a certain age, once comfortable, the pup had taken to running all over the place, and his explorations had recently begun to expand beyond just the deck and innards of the ship. It was, admittedly, a little worrying. Of course that didn't stop him from grinning as he spotted the pale blue of the whisp against the darker blue of the sky.
"Hey, you better be careful up there." His words would have likely held more meaning if he hadn't been half laughing as he said them. Withdrawing his hands from his pockets he reached up to curl fingers around the highest drape of rope he could reach. Muscles bunching in his he curled himself up in a pull up before hooking a foot into a lower rope. A little careful climbing and he was level with the pup. A little more finagling and managed to shift a few ropes round so he could comfortably sit within the rigging. With the breeze now blowing through his hair and open shirt he was considerably more comfortable.
"So, what having fun?" Not counting the horrid sleeping arrangements (Really, no beds? REALLY?!), their trip had so far been down right pleasant.

Jove nodded happily to assure the other boil that he was being careful. Well, more like he wasn't being careless, there wasn't too much the little ghost had to worry about when it came to a fall from up there, mostly damaging his boyish pride. And perhaps falling through the rotted deck.
The pup wagged his tail slightly as Seiji climbed up to join him. It was really nice up there, and he had really grown to like the older boil during the course of their voyage, so it was only natural that the little ghost would be happier when the two were combined. He nimbly scrambled farther up the ropes and pointed out at the ocean where there was a tiny dot on the horizon. From the small sigh he gave while showing Seiji the object of his interest, it was clear that he had been missing his other friends lately. He tried not to show it when he felt a little homesick, this was as close as he had gotten to admitting it.

Alessa hadn't been faring very well. She had immediately become sea sick, not enough to actually have to lean overboard and empty her stomach, but enough where she was rather lethargic most of the time. At first she tried to be attentive, social, and active, but eventually it was just a little too had for her. It didn't help that she didn't feel up to eating much, either, so her energy levels were low anyway. She honestly felt bad for Jove, who had taken to following her around sometimes, likely to 'protect' her as Ren had suggested. She didn't mind so much; the little boil was sweet, if quiet, company and it was easier to keep an eye on him in turn. Also, it seemed when she was especially boring (napping usually), he went off to entertain himself. She hoped she wasn't too much of a hinderence.
She was feeling a little better, relatively speaking, so she'd decided to go and wander around the deck, maybe find Jove and see if he wanted to play a game of cards or something. It took her a long while to spot him, and it was only when she heard Seiji's voice that she even thought to look up.
"Oh! There you are Jove," she called, looking a little relieved. She offered Seiji a weak smile too, though the weakness of it wasn't related to him. "And you Seiji." She took a moment, hesitating as she looked at the rigging and thought of what a terrible idea it would be to go up there...but she wanted to. If she was going to feel better, she didn't want to spend that time alone. So she climbed up to join them, though it took a painstakingly long time to get there. Once she did she looked rather tired, though she did try to smile. "It's really nice up here."

Thackery's time on the ship thus far had not been very kind to him. The usually outgoing student was now keeping to himself, drawing on the planks of the ship with a small box of earwax crayons that he'd brought with him. His legs were crossed indian-style as he scribbled on the canvas in front of him, careful not to draw on any stray bugs. Was he going through withdrawals? Probably. He longingly touched the grimy little drawings. It almost looked as if he were...petting them. Ash was sick, and he couldn't even take care of him! And his kitsunes needed his loving care! His tail wagged just slightly as he thought of everyone back at Amityville. He told himself that he'd be back in no time, and propped his chin up in his palms to watch the other students.

Sighing softly, Aldara closed her journal off, pulling herself up into a standing position so that she could peer down at the deck from the crow's nest. There wasn't much to catch her interest; not at first, at least... And then stormy eyes settled on the canine and his crayon creations. She couldn't quite make them out from where she was, but the slump of his shoulders was hard to ignore, as was the little wag of his tail. Tucking her journal back into the bag she'd brought up with her, Aldara pulled herself up onto the edge of the crow's nest, carefully balancing as best she could before spreading her wings so that she could glide down to the deck, landing not far from the boy. "... Homesick?"

You think this is a great time to assign more homework to teach your crewmates how to catch food. Their stamina decreases by five, but their fishing skills increase drastically, adding 50 food to your boat. ((In a nutshell, everybody loses 5 HP because Cricket is a b***h)) Students were noisy.
Loud and noisy. And obnoxious. She needed to find a way to make them leave her alone. It was with that thought she'd looked at the food stores (why did they need food in the first place? ), then at the students.
For those unfortunate enough to be nearby, the look on her face when the gears in her head turned was...disturbing. Probably enough to consider just throwing oneself overboard the ship.
Either way, Cricket made a point of locking herself in the lower cabin (where her 'crew' had also been sleeping...give or take the very BS'd quarters for sleeping. Cricket had obviously not considered sleep important due to her own lack-of-sleeping-ever).
With a note of;
"If you guys want to eat today, you're going to have to catch it yourself."
.... ......
FUU-Type up a post of your student make-shifting a way to fish and roll a 100-sided dice. You might get something good for your efforts tomorrow evening!

Tucking one hand behind his head and leaning back as much as the rigging would allow, the ghost boil pulled his phone from his pocket to check for any new messages and also because, silly as it was, he felt better having it. It was a link to Junko and Bul, and when you really got down to it, Seiji was rather firmly attached to his electronics, and being so very are out to sea the eyephone was the only bit of technology he had on him. Prodding at the screen showed no new messages. Well that was a bummer. He glanced up from the phone towards his ghostly companion, noting the wagging tail, and smiled. "It's pretty nice up here." Of course that didn't mean climb higher. The jikininki frowned, turned slightly as if to follow or ask him to come back down, then noticed where he was pointing. There, on the very edge of the horizon, was a tiny dot. "Oh." The pup's sigh was echoed by one from Seiji himself as he watched that little lack speck. Then he had an idea. "Hey, do you wanna send the girls a message?" He held his phone up to the other boil and wiggled it between them. Then almost dropped it as a voice directly below them made him jump. Gray fingers tightened around the thing and brought it closer to his body as she looked down to see Alessa, a better looking Alessa at that. The poor ghoul had been fairly green around the gills for days now. "Hey! You look like you're feeling better." Reaching down though the mesh of the rigging the boil offered the ghoul a hand up, fingers curling around her wrist even as she hoisted herself up. Just in case she slipped, he'd keep her from falling. Once she was situated he let her go, smiling. "It is. Much cooler then down on the deck." Then to Jove. "Well, do you wanna send them a text?"

... Elaphe didn't like these people. He didn't like any of them, damn it.
The diminutive little Nguruvilu had made a point of being impossibly antisocial since the whole boat trip began, resigning himself mostly to a bleary roundabout on the deck in some endless search of where everyone else wasn't. The water... was almost a comfort, but not really. He would've much rather been swimming on his own steam than stuck on some creaky (albeit large) boat full of obnoxious peers and creepy crawlies.
... And of course, the thoughts of what he'd left behind still haunted him every moment. Jack only knew how long it would be before Nosi managed to drown herself where Lapid couldn't rescue her, or Donner dropped dead of a rabbit's heart attack from some little scare. What was he bound to come home to, anyway? A pile of bodies? Ghosts? Zombies? A big mess everywhere?
He'd tried to feign impassive when suspicious Naiads coaxed the boat along some new path, but unfortunately for him, he couldn't avoid the interaction forever and... hoo, boy, this was about to get interesting.
"Catch it ourselves?..." he echoed very softly, one ear twitching as if to try and clarify what he'd just heard across the boat. Oh. Well then. "Tch," he scoffed, stealing a glance over the boat, thinking for a moment, and then rolling his eyes. "Least this'll be easy enough, I guess..."
Elaphe would be damned if he sat down and made some silly fishing pole or spear. No, he just shrugged off his jacket, kicked off his shoes, took a moment to leer at his wrist (as if secretly trying to will the skull bracelet off him, no doubt)... and promptly leapt overboard with a splash, straight under the water.
... This would've been a lot easier if he wasn't stuck in some big clumsy guise, but he'd make due if it killed him, and he'd catch the BIGGEST DAMN FISH THEY'D EVER SEEN, because he was clearly just that much of a badass.

It was hard to introduce yourself to people when they were climbers and Calder was left for the rest of the day trotting about the ship and taking naps. Unlike the other students, he didn't have to worry too much about a bed. All he did was walk below deck, find a corner, and sleep standing up. He rarely did so, but at least he was more rested than the others who made due with random places they made into makeshift sleeping quarters.
The next day was fresh and crisp, though no food was given. Nurse Cricket decided to go below deck and leave them to fend for themselves. This would have been easy for him considering he was an amazing swimmer, but that was the biggest problem. So when Elaphe just jumped off, Calder leaned over the edge of the boat and frowned, eyes wide as he watched with envy as the other boil swam about to catch fish.
His eyes went wide; it seemed that Calder's only tactic to catch fish was to stare them, pathetically, to death. Bringing his knuckle to his mouth, he bite on it as he watched for a good while as Elaphe got to swim. OHHHHH! THIS WAS TORTURE!!!
Without the ability to swim, Calder turned about, looking around. He had no fishing pole or net. Frowning, the kelpie looked about for anything he could make into a fishing pole. Well, they did have wood. Plenty of pieces were exposed for tearing apart that he doubted the Nurse would notice. It was just finding one that wouldn't snap on him. When he found a hole next to a good piece of wood, Calder reached down and, pulling back, tore off a long strip of good wood. Well, there was his pole.
Turning, he walked over to the piles of ropes and found one that looked in the best condition and tied it to one end and then had his line. The grip was a little hard, so he went around before he found a discarded bit of cloth used to repair the sail. He took a piece and wrapped it about to get a better grip and create a handle. Done, he was just lacking bait. Seeing as they had no food, he had to make do with something that LOOKED like food – to a fish.
Being an insect looking ship, it wasn't hard to find one of the small insect details that he could tear off the ship. A wooden centipede in hand, he tied it to the other end of his rope and then went over to the edge of the ship. Moving over to several crates, Calder sat atop them and leaned back, throwing his line over. There. Now he could rest and hopefully get something to eat. He still gave Elaphe pony eyes, green with envy.

"Of course I haven't!" She looked rather surprised at Calder's question, as the thought had never crossed her mind - well, it had, but only because Tess insisted on having her tell Nurse Cricket, which would involve others potentially hearing what she had to say... But she didn't, in the end! She decided to trust Calder that much, anyway. After a short pause, she added, "The only ones who know are those who were there during detention... I'm not sure if they told anyone... Jericho knows though."
She couldn't help smiling at the thought of the dragon. Oops. Calder is an expert - he would notice, right? Bad bad bad- Standing up, she gave him another pat on the back - a less awkward one this time before grinning, a blush beginning to creep up her cheeks, "Well, I'm gonna head down for a nap now, so I'll see you around, okay? Right, its a promise - no avoiding me!" Before waiting for an answer from the boil - partially because she was sure she was already blushing, and partially because she won't accept a 'no' anyway - she had turned and made her way below deck.
---------
It had been a while since her talk with Calder, and she was surprisingly running out of things to wear - oh, the horror! Of course, her clothes would still last her at least a week, but she wanted to be dramatic; without her ghoul friends around, there was nobody to be dramatic with! Of course, she didn't need to over-react when Nurse Cricket gave them their next 'assignment' to look like she was being dramatic - the look of surprise and mild horror on her face was very real.
"Fishing...?"
She had never fished before. Ever. She didn't need to eat anyway, so perhaps she could skip the activity? She cast a nervous glance at the shop's captain before looking around; one of the boils had voluntarily jumped into the water. While impressive, Lizzy couldn't help but shiver at the thought of being in water; if Mac hadn't been there that time during the Jimmy incident... Ugh.
It was easy for her to make a small fishing net wannabe using her thread, but the problem was if it'll hold a fish if she does manage to catch one. The thought caused her to make a small fishing net wannabe with threads entwined together so that each thread was made up of several other threads to make it stronger. Moving to one of the portholes after she was done (away from everyone else since she didn't want anyone to see her potential fail), Lizzy threw the net into the water and tied the string attached to it to her wrist and waited... And waited... And waited...
... Until she felt a tug. Excited, she pulled up the net, through the porthole and... Found a fish. A fish she can't tell was edible or not due to lack of experience, and it was only the size of twice the length of her palm, but she did it! As the fish flopped on the deck by her feet, she couldn't help but take out her skelephone to take a photo.
Her first fish! Wait till Amrita sees this!

Trick or Treat Hobknocker Crew
|
Posted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 12:36 pm
Hobknocker had been hiding under deck the entire time. It had never crossed his mind that he would become sea sick. What kind of zombie got sick? If only they had accepted his idea of being chained to the boat and walking underneath, or even being dragged along through the harsh waves. Instead, he had to be ON the boat with the students, shaking and heaving back and forth. This was no life for a zombie. He would have to conquer this sickness. He had a duty to perform, needed to help Captain Cricket. He pulled out a mop and began to swab the deck, though he kept a careful eye on the passengers.

Started, Thackery stared up at the feathered ghoul with wide eyes. Where had she come from!? He glanced between her and the pathetic little drawings in front of him, wondering if it was really that obvious. He probably looked pretty sad, and he didn't want to give that impression. So he forced a nervous laugh and gave her a smile that was substantially more genuine.
"Well. Yes. I don't think it was even this bad when I left home home. But I miss my friends and pets and stuff. I don't miss classes, though. Or the food. Though I guess I haven't eaten much on the boat, so...maybe nevermind on that one. Does it bother you to be away? It'll probably get better when we get to wherever we're going." As he spoke, he busied himself by putting the crayons back to the box. He hoped that it wasn't too obvious that he was trying to divert her attention away from the scribbles. "I'm Thackery! I don't think we've met before. Do you know how to fish?"
Topic overload. He dangled a half-broken yellow crayon over the side of the boat, in a 'heeeere, fishy, fishy~' fashion. Hopefully his new friend had a better idea of what to do here.
