"Mm?" He regarded Aulus momentarily, quite obviously thinking about something as hard as his sleep-impaired, concussed mind could manage. There was something familiar about him, something that was... hmm...

Claire's question pulled him back to her, though, and he shifted his thoughts to answer her, "Uh, he was doing some things... He had a nice rifle. I want to make one like it." With a quiet thanks, he moved to prepare a bit of spaghetti on the fork - when did spaghetti there? He was disconcertingly accustomed to food just appearing in front of him - but stopped suddenly to turn back to Aulus with a distinct expression of realization. "Morrison?"

"Fine," Aulus rolled his eyes, "be enigmatic. I knew a girl like you once, but she was twelve." Or thirteen? He couldn't quite remember the year he'd been in when he'd met her. Maybe she'd been his first real crush. It hadn't mattered though, because after only two terms enigmatic girl had transferred somewhere new. Red hair. Freckles. Green eyes. Buck teeth. That was about all he remembered now. He wondered where she was, and what she was doing with her life. He'd be willing to bet a great deal of money that she'd grown up unspeakably hot if she'd had braces at some point...

What? "Morrison?" Aulus scowled, pausing in the motion of twirling pasta. "Name's Aulus, well, that's what everyone calls me anyway. Don't know what you're thinking of, the names don't even sound the same... Unless he's another scar face?" Maybe that was the man with the scar he'd been dreaming of.

"Alright, I will," she replied to Aulus, twirling her fork in the spaghetti before taking a bite as she listened to Lucas. He'd dreamed about Luke again, she was sure, and was almost as sure he very likely had whatever rifle he'd mentioned in his dr--

Oh holy Arceus what--

A coughing fit seized her as a bit of spaghetti attempted to slide into her lungs, and it took her a moment or two to right this matter. Afterwards, she merely sat there with her empty hand covering her mouth, the hand that held the fork resting on the table. Violet eyes flitted to Merry, silently asking, pleading for help with how to respond to that. Either way she inhaled after a moment, a bit shakily since she'd nearly choked on pasta, and looked at Lucas a bit apprehensively. "He's not Morrison, Lucas." Arceus, she really hoped he wouldn't ask about Morrison like he had Liselle..

"Aulus?" He pronounced it slowly, as if confused as to why it didn't sound the same as 'Morrison.' Merry, in response to Claire's gaze, chimed energetically in an effort to get her human to refocus. He was obviously still more asleep than awake if he was mistaking Aulus for Morrison.

Lucas looked between the three with obvious befuddlement. "Are you sure?" he said at length. "But... But then where is Morrison?"

If Merry's tiny arms were long enough to cover her eyes in dread, she would have been doing so.

Well, now he really he had no idea what was going on, and so he got down to the business of eating. Morrison. Sounded like Lucas really cared where the guy was. Maybe he was capable of caring for more than one person with that psychotically protective passion, or maybe he really was just totally crazed... But no; Claire seemed to know who he was talking about. Interesting. Aulus shot the purple-eyed woman a glance and raised a quizzical eyebrow, but didn't stop eating to say anything. Honestly he didn't think he could have vocalized anything more eloquent than that raised brow in any case.

s**t, now he was asking about Morrison, too. Hadn't Liselle been enough? Who would he ask about next, Elisa? Jessica? No, not Jessica. s**t. "Um.." The fork was placed on the table as she raised both hands to press over her eyes, almost completely oblivious to Aulus' presence, let alone his silent question, though she did appreciate his lack of verbal comments. After a couple moments she lowered one arm to lay it across the edge of the table in front of her, her other hand still staying around the vicinity of her mouth and chin. "Lucas," she said gently, very gently, "do you remember what I told you a couple days ago -- about -- Liselle?" And about how they weren't in Galactic anymore. If he remembered, she expected a similar, if not worse reaction. Either way he'd have to remember at some point, and it made her feel horrible.

"You said you didn't know Liselle," he reminded with an eyebrow raised. Merry tapped his hand lightly, and he looked to her, meeting her remorseful yellow eyes with his of blue. A brief ring encouraged him to think about it a little more, and with a frown he complied.

It was quite clear when he remembered, and even clearer that what he first remembered was the contents of his nightmares. His head was immediately swimming, and he leaned heavily against the table, covering his mouth with a hand and staring ahead distantly, eyes glassy and face drained of color. "s**t."

What she'd told him about Liselle? From the look on Lucas face, none of this stuff was good news to the man. This was getting really weird. Weird and awkward. He'd only wanted to come down here and have dinner, he hadn't signed up for... for whatever the heck was up with Lucas, especially not given the man had threatened to kill him last they met. Oddly enough, that was not the sort of thing he took kindly to.

"I'm getting a drink," Aulus decided abruptly, setting his fork down and getting to his feet, "want anything Claire?" Damned if he was going to offer Lucas, and the man seemed way too out of it to care anyway. Still, if Claire asked him too then he supposed he could stretch to getting something for Lucas too. Only if she asked though.

Crap, now she felt even worse for reminding him about Morrison. She wasn't sure if he remembered he just wasn't in Galactic or if he'd remembered the nightmares he'd been having, or, or... "Huh?" Oh, a drink. "No thank you, I'm fine," she murmured a bit absently, mostly focused on Lucas and wondering what to do.

What could she do, actually? Pretty much nothing, like before. s**t. Damned if she'd sit there and do absolutely nothing, though, so she scooted over and slid her arms around him in a reassuring hug. Well, as reassuring as she could manage, given the circumstances. "I'm sorry, Lucas.."

All right, calm down. Morrison was alive. He was alive and well. Morrison hadn't died, and Lucas hadn't killed him. The thought came back to him like a great wave stifling a growing inferno. He was left feeling quite cold, though, and perhaps a bit ill as a result of the sudden surge of emotion. And then he heard a name - a familiar name, the name of a person he had sort of been looking for for some time. And then was a pair of arms around his shoulders, a sensation almost as familiar as the name, the ends connected. "Oh... You. You're Claire." It begged the question of where Fionnuala had gone, but he preferred Claire anyway, so he wasn't about to pursue the issue.

At Claire's refusal Aulus had headed back towards the kitchen; there had been various fruit juices in the fridge, one of them would do... Ah, and by the sounds of it Lucas was beginning to catch up with the rest of the world. Beginning. At least he'd remembered who the heck the woman who was supposed to be his semi-sister was. Personally Aulus blamed Lucas' current weirdness somewhat on a concussion, but mostly on being certifiable.

Shaking his head to himself Aulus grabbed a carton of orange juice from one of the fridges before turning to find a glass... two glasses. Fine, three. For all he knew, once Lucas remembered a bit more he might think that not bringing the right number of glasses was a shooting offence; to Aulus it seemed a crime on about the same level as being in the same room as Claire. Weird, crazy, psychotic old man.

Returning to the table, Aulus dumped the spare glasses within reach of the others, poured himself a drink, set aside the juice carton and went back to eating. Maybe he should just have taken the chance to move to the other side of the cafeteria or something, but he hadn't thought of that while he'd been standing up, and now that he was sitting he wasn't going to get up again right away. He'd just have to put up with Lucas the scarfaced psycho and his apparent issues for a bit longer, he supposed.

She hardly noticed when Aulus got up and walked off to presumably get himself a drink, too focused on the concussed man. And then he remembered. Finally. Freaking finally. It was as if a giant weight had been lifted off her shoulders, and she really hoped he wouldn't forget who she was again. Arceus.. "Yep, I'm Claire," she assented as she let him go and moved back to her spaghetti, trying to sound a bit more cheerful. It worked.. somewhat. "How do you feel?" He looked terrible. Thinking about Morrison probably made him feel horrible.. actually thinking at all about anything probably made him feel horrible because of the concussion. Poor guy.. Oh, glasses? She blinked a bit in surprise as Aulus put down three glasses instead of one, but moved to pour herself a glass of juice even though she'd said she hadn't wanted anything. If he went to the trouble of bringing a bunch of glasses over, she wasn't going to be rude and ignore them or something. "Thank you, Aulus. Lucas, do you want some orange juice?" It might make his head feel better or something.. maybe. She wasn't even sure at this point.

"Claire." He repeated the name, as if affirming its existence in his vocabulary. "Thank you for the other day. The, uhh..." Round things with cheese. "Manicotti." There was no telling whether or not Fionnuala had properly conveyed the message, after all. She was a liar.

"I'm fine," he responded, unaware that color had yet to return to his face. There was food, and he was hungry, and there was no way he was going to not eat it. He lifted the fork and had a taste of the spaghetti. Italian in general was pretty delicious, mm...

He heard a name again - Aulus. It was probably the least familiar name he had heard all day. Aulus was Not-Morrison. Very, very much Not-Morrison. But what else did he know of the guy? Nothing at all. He spared a glance in the man's discretion, foregoing Claire's question to scrutinize some clue about his identity. He brought a hand to his head to combat his rising headache, offering a guess, "You're the... guy with the stick?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 03, 2011 11:53 am

Aulus was half way through a mouthful when Lucas addressed him, and he didn't hasten to finish in order to answer. He did, however, raise an eyebrow. "Sure I am," he said once he'd finished, "that is if you're the guy with the pea shooter: it's a bo staff."

He might jokingly call it a stick himself, but he wasn't going to let mister 'I kill you on a whim for whatever reason I like' get away with that. How did Claire like this guy?... Oh, yes, of course; most of his psycho went into protecting her, so she never saw the nasty end of it. Still, when told about the death threats she'd seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable or perhaps even vaguely amusing. This was Team Rocket, maybe stuff like that was normal here, and if so then maybe he'd introduced himself to his roommates in the right manner after all. Threaten first, as questions later if you feel like it.

"You're welcome," she said with a smile, starting to dig into her spaghetti again before it got cold. "I'm glad you liked it." It was, after all, the first time she'd ever made it before. She was incredibly glad she hadn't burned it or something.

Although she didn't believe him for an instant that he was fine - he had a concussion, and looked like a ghost or something - she refrained from commenting so she could eat more spaghetti and just let Lucas and Aulus talk. Mmm, spaghetti..
