Taiyoko grinned. She had just the picture in mind. She had seen it in a magazine at the okiya. With its sweeping hills and shadows, it would be perfect for this project.
"Ooo sculpture? I hope we do get to do that"
She turned to Arikku
"I like your flower, its pretty"

Kikaru put on the apron and watched the instructor work. She had always been fascinated with colors and blending them into patterns..she always loved to see artists works for sale in the market when she went to run errands for her father. She always seemed to have to stop and look at least once.
She tried painting a little baby rabbit sitting among the grass. It was rather rough at points, but still cute and spotted. Smiling softly she put the brush down and looked back to the sensei and nodded, having heard their homework assignment. She cleaned up the paints and removed her apron, she had an idea for the assignment but she wasn't sure if it would be acceptable.
"Sensei, would it be possible..to painting something we've actually seen before...providing we can draw it..and show it to you first?"

Arikku smiled. "Arigato, Taiyoko-san," she said and blushed a bit at how much attention her flower was getting. She then listened to the teacher.
"Oh, I have a picture of my old town that I could paint," she whispered to herself. She then smiled and turned her attention back to the teacher.

Makoto started to make a painting of just a simple water lilly on a lake with a Crane walking around she smiled a bit, happy at how her design was turning out, and she waned to do more, she placed a bit of folliage around in the back, a bit of marshland with small homes way way in the back. When she was satitfied she signed her name small in the corner.

"Very nice technique with the water Makoto-chan!" Tora said smiling. "Oh, kikaru-chan, I was thinking about your painting." Tora walked over to Kikaru. "If you smooth the rabbit out here," she said pointing to a spot on the back, "It'll take on a life of it's own!" she added smiling. "The furr looks so real," she commented.
Tora walked back to the front of the class. "Wow, everyone here is so artistic! I think I'll like teaching you all!" she added with a wink.

Taiyoko looked up to the teacher
"Are there any special techniques that we'll be learning?"
She painted a streak of color onto her canvas. Her sunset field was coming together quite nicely.
"I haven't been able to paint like this in a long time"

Luna was confused as can be as she entered looking incredibly shy, this was not only her first time in such a place but she knew no one here. With her head down and hair flowing in waves down her back she headed towards miss Tora, nervously clenching her hands and relaxing then tensing up again. "Ummm, Hello miss Tora." She didn't know what to say this was all so new to her and she'd never had the chance to talk with Yukiko about it. Both pale golden-brown eyes looked up at everyone in the room as she stood waiting for an answer.

With her head down and hair flowing in waves down her back she headed towards miss Tora, nervously clenching her hands and relaxing then tensing up again. "Ummm, Hello miss Tora." She didn't know what to say this was all so new to her and she'd never had the chance to talk with Yukiko about it. Both pale golden-brown eyes looked up at everyone in the room as she stood waiting for an answer. "Hello Luna!" Tora chimed, greeting the new comer. "Please, please, come in. Take a set at an easel and put on an apron!" she instructed. "Right now we're just painting anything we'd like, so you can get to know the paints, and I get to see your art style," Tora said with a wink. "Have you worked with oil paints before?" she asked.

Luna looked around and nodded, "my mother taught me." She moved picking out an apron and seating herself proporly she looked over the canvas thinking up an image she'd seen her mother paint many times, a woman sitting with a parasol over her shoulder, you could barely see her face since her long raven-black hair was blowing out with the wind, one arm of expended to catch Sakura pettals blowing in the breeze. It was the perfect picture and one she was used to not only because she'd painted it before but because it held a special meaning, her mother used to tell her, that one day the beautiful woman in the painting would be herself and Luna could only wish to become that someday. She looked over the brushes old memories stirring in her mind. Pulling back her hair into a bun instead of a long braid she loked at the canvas and waited to see when they'd begin. Realizing she could start when she chose, Luna began with the soft sky colors then the ground as she worked she pictured the soft rose tones of the woman's kimono the white pettals and white Obi, then the black fan with the dragon desing swirling hypnotically around it. looking at the pink she chose a lighter color for the petals and a darker for shadow tones. Luna did not speak the entire time she was painting and seemed lost in her wn world stopping every little bit to lookover what she'd done and make any changes or to chose another color.

"Beautiful work Luna-chan!" Tora said placing a hand on the young girl's shoulder. "Wonderful shading! It looks as if she could walk right off the canvas," Tora added with a big smile. She was so proud of her students, they were doing wonderful!
