Though if you want to support the creators, Link's Awakening DX will be downloadable on the 3DS. So if you're getting the system, why not? cool
I still have the GBC version, and while my GBC might not work anymore, my GBA is still going strong. In fact, Link's Awakening is one of the only GBC games I brought with me to school. The other is Dragon Warrior III, of course.

I only use roms for games I can't get otherwise. Like Mother 3. So if you can get the game by paying for it, do it. If not, rom away and buy the game if you can. I know I'm gonna buy a copy or two of Mother 3 if the game ever gets a stateside release.

Most of the games I get as roms are games I have already owned, whether still currently owning or owned in the past. I still have my copy of Link's Awakening at home, but since I can't bring my games along with me without my parents noticing, I have no choice but to rely on roms for nostalgia.

Completely understandable.

Considering how long it took me to get the images for Chapter 8, and how many there are... it could take a while for it to be put up.
We're talking 180 images here.

Chapter 8: 8-bit Castle Crashers, Zelda Style! (Since I have NO idea if Link's Awakening is considered 8-bit, 16-bit, or somewhere in between.)

What's up, readers? You have no idea how many screencaps I took for this chapter, but this is definitely the longest chapter I've worked on. 180 images. Ya hear? One hundred and eighty images for this chapter. Insane. We haven't even entered the third dungeon yet and already we're facing this staggering amount. But that's because we covered so much this time. So let's get started!

User Image
Last time, we found our way to the entrance to the third dungeon. Unfortunately, we lack the key to get in. This chapter covers all that, and more.

But first... we're backtracking to the first dungeon.
User Image

User Image
Remember this room? Now that we have some bombs, we can totally blow up that wall.

User Image
Ka-BOOOOM!

User Image
Here's a chest that DIDN'T show up on your map or compass. Weird, ain't it? Anyway, open up that sucker.

User Image
Secret Seashell get! I want to say that this is our... 4th one?

Anyway, now that we've now gotten everything in the first dungeon, let's head back to the entrance of the third dungeon.
User Image

Head south.
User Image
User Image
User Image
And we find a house! If we read the sign...

User Image
Now, if I recall from my high school history notes, I'm pretty sure people in power, like Presidents and members of some Royal Families have villas. Let's head inside.

User Image
For those of you that have played Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, you'd almost think you're talking to a hatless Ralph. If you compare their sprites, they'd look almost exactly the same, with the exception of slightly longer hair on one side and a hat.

User Image
Who greets people like that nowadays?

User Image
User Image
Called it. Dude's totally royalty.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Aww, that's a shame. I bet if you ruled better, they won't have gone berserk. stare

User Image
User Image
... Keep talking, Richard.

User Image
Figured there'd be a catch.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Link: A Golden Leaf, huh? Doesn't sound too difficult.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Link: Oh you b*****d... you waited to fill me in on the details of the leaves after I agreed to help you.
If you don't have a shovel by now, you better do what Richard told you to do and go get one.

Leave the villa.
User Image
Head on east.

User Image
Take a look at the sign.

User Image
Our destination is 10 screens away, in the northwestern direction. Better start walking.

User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
Quick little detour here. Head up the stairs and go left.

User Image
Head over to the pig boulder and drop a bomb.

User Image
User Image
Yay, shortcut! Head back to the right and go north.

User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
And here we are at the castle gates! Go approach it and stare at its majestic-ness.

User Image
Oh look, it's Stalker Mouse. Guess it's photo time.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Yes, yes. We know you love taking pictures of naked girls scandals stuff, Stalker Mouse.

User Image
Richard shows up.
Interesting piece of information I found on this guy. Turns out Richard's a cameo from a game called Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru, co-created by Intelligent Systems. Translation? For the Frog the Bell Tolls.
So if Ralph was inspired by Richard... what does that make them?

User Image
User Image
User Image
Link: Dude, we just left your house. Chill.

User Image
User Image
Then Stalker Mouse suggests a picture. Eh, sure. We're already in this chibi-like form. Might as well roll with it.

User Image
User Image
Well, aren't you confident?

User Image
"Dude, If You Have a Sword, Go Get Your Leaves By Yourself."

User Image
User Image
Link: Uh...huh... rolleyes Yeah, you keep telling yourself you're not scared.

User Image
So the photoshoot ends and we can move again. Let's head to the right.

User Image
User Image
Here's a monkey. If you don't already have Bananas as your trading item, there's no way you can advance. If you do have the Bananas, we're in good shape.

User Image
User Image
Give it to him. It's worth it.

User Image
User Image
User Image
He'll then summon a bunch of monkeys and guess what they do?

User Image
If you guessed 'Fling Poo at You', I laugh. They will swarm between the two landmasses though to build something.

User Image
User Image
Monkey boss tells them that they're done. And then they all scamper away.

User Image
Oh look, a stick, AND a bridge. We just got ourselves a two-for-one deal~

Claim that stick!
User Image
User Image
User Image
You want it? You take it! 8D

There's something I'd like to do first, before we head off to the castle. This is kinda why the chapter got so long... because I was trying to do a lot of stuff and cram it into one chapter instead of making separate chapters about it. Since we're in the area, it makes sense to do it now.

Head south.
User Image
User Image
Flying Goomba dropping bombs. You saw him earlier but I said nothing about it. Don't worry about him and move on to the left.

User Image
Couple of Goblins here. Nothing dangerous. Kill them like you normally kill the Moblins, then head north.

User Image
Two more Goblins, and a strange looking house.

If you talk to either of the trees... Yes, you can talk to them. XD
User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
Basically, just poke walls with your sword. If they make a different sound than most walls, you can blow them up and get to a new room.

Before we head into the house, go to the right.
User Image
If you cut the grass, you can find a secret seashell hidden in one of the clumps.

User Image
User Image
Now that we have 5 Secret Seashells, head back to the left and enter the house.

User Image
User Image
Welcome to the Seashell Manor. If you have a multiple of 5 shell count (5, 10, 15, ect), come here. The house will count how many shells you've got.

User Image
If there's a light that flickers in the circles on the wall, that means you have enough to get a present.

User Image
Yay~ 8D

User Image
And we have another Secret Seashell. That makes 6!

Head outside and head south.
User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
Get rid of the goblins here... then lift that lone boulder.

User Image
And there's another Secret Seashell. We've now got 7.

If we head south from here...
User Image
We'll see a girl in the water. Unfortunately, we can't talk to her yet since we don't know how to swim. So just head back north.

User Image
If you keep going north from here, you'll make it back to the castle gate.

Head to the monkey bridge.
User Image
Cross it and head north.

User Image
User Image
User Image
If you need to call gramps, go ahead.

If not, take a left.
User Image
Cut it to reveal an entrance underground.

User Image
Head on in.

User Image
Couple of goombas here. Nothing too scary. Jump on them if you need hearts, then head left.

User Image
Jump across and make your way up the ladder.

Infiltration successful. Let's CRASH THIS CASTLE!
User Image
Head right.

User Image
Behold, some knights! These guys fight similarly to the Moblins and Goblins, so just kill them how you normally kill those guys and you're good.

Head south from here.
User Image
This is an interesting area...

User Image
See that guy? He'll pop out momentarily before lobbing a bomb in your direction before ducking back into the hole to reappear in a different hole. Hit him before he can throw a bomb or escape into the hole.

A couple of solid hits on this guy and he'll drop something.
User Image
User Image
That's right. Our first Golden Leaf.

User Image
You can keep track of how many you've gotten on your pause menu.

Anyway, head south from this area.
User Image
More knights. Nothing too special. Just hold your sword out and they should run into it.

Once they're gone, head left.
User Image
Well, here's our way into the castle. But there's one more leaf out here. So keep heading left.

User Image
Take down the knight and head north.

User Image
Here's a crow and a knight. You can kill the knight. However, you can swing at the bird all you like, it won't budge. You'll need to knock it off it's roost.

User Image
Take a boulder and throw it at the tree it's on to dislodge it, then kill it before it flies away. The crow will drop...

User Image
Another leaf. Okay, NOW we can go inside the castle! Let's Crash It! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! cool

User Image
There's nothing special about this room. Head left.

User Image
See that skull thing bouncing around the room? Yeah, that guy is exactly like the Buzz Beetles you see moving around in dungeons, usually around blocks or the room itself. Like those guys, you can't kill it with the equipment you have now. But you can kill the other stuff.

User Image
Doing so will drop a leaf, so grab Leaf Number 3 and head north.

User Image
Two knights in this room. You know what to do by now. Head to the right when you're done.

User Image
Huh. I didn't know Richard had a bat servant. That's pretty cool.

Anyway, once you get rid of the enemies here, go press that switch. But be warned. If you haven't taken the picture with Richard yet, DO IT BEFORE YOU PUSH THAT SWITCH!
User Image
User Image
User Image
The castle will shake, and then you'll get a message that the bridge has been lowered, so you can enter and leave the castle as you please.

Head up the stairs and go left.
User Image
Go upstairs.

User Image
Oh look, they have Buzz Beetles in here too. Anyway, you see those knight-shaped marks on the wall just down those stairs? Drop a bomb next to them, and they'll cause a knight to come out. I don't think the order matters, but if you wanna make it easy on yourself, blow them up one at a time and fight the knights one-on-one.

User Image
I think the order changes, but one of the knights will drop a leaf upon your victory. That makes 4. Head back upstairs and go right.

User Image
Watch out for the Flail Knight as you head south. He's got the reach to hit you.

User Image
Head left.

User Image
Go on outside, as there's nothing here.

User Image
There's gonna be the place you just left, and that other door. Go to that other door.

User Image
Moment you step into this room, that door will drop. There's a little trick that'll get it open.

User Image
Take a pot, walk over to it, and throw it at the door.

User Image
*crashtinkletinkle* Well, we just crashed that door. 8D Head on in.

User Image
The Flail Knight is pretty difficult if you don't know how to fight him right. He'll spin the flail above his head quickly just before he's about to throw it at you. You can stop the attack if you hit the flail with your sword. It'll take a couple of hits to bring him down.

Once he's down, he'll drop a leaf.
User Image

You should have 5 Golden Leaves right now. Check to make sure you got them.
User Image
We're good to go.

Head downstairs and leave the castle.
User Image
Now that the gate's been lowered, we don't have to walk so far to get there. Nice little shortcut that we won't need after this. XD

Make your way back to Richard's villa.
User Image
User Image
Well, go talk to the Frog Prince.

User Image
Junpei Iori: Tray Ben? The heck is that?
It's French for 'Good Job', I believe.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Link: Oh, you cheapskate. Here I thought you had the key on you, but you're going to make me look for it? Dx

User Image
He'll then move out of the way. Take his place and push that blue box to reveal some stairs.

User Image
Take it.

User Image
There's a couple of slimes in here, but it's not too bad. We wanna take the left route first.

User Image
Push the boulder down the pit and jump across to the chest.

User Image
Another Secret Shell. That makes 8. Huh, there sure are a lot of 8s in this chapter, isn't there?

Make your way around and take the stairs on the other side.
User Image
Nothing special here. Just head left.

User Image
Go down the stairs and make your way outside.

User Image
Welcome to Pothole Plains, aka Richard's Backyard. You'll need to cut the grass clumps to make your way to the green grass patches.

User Image
Like so. Most of the grass clumps will reveal a pit, so do be careful cutting the grass. Many a lawnmower has been lost to this place.

User Image
User Image
Doesn't matter if you take the upper grass or the lower grass route. Both lead to the same place, and you can always jump to the other one since there's just one square between them.

User Image
You wanna make your way to that middle grass patch.

User Image
I know there was a route you could have cut to get to the one on the right, but I was too lazy. So we'll cut the grass and jump over to the patch on the right side.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Cut the grass clump in front of the owl and talk to him.

User Image
User Image
If you didn't listen to Richard and my warnings to get a shovel, you just came all the way out here for nothing. If you do have the shovel, get it out and dig right in front of the owl.

User Image
There's your key. Grab it.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Now we gotta backtrack ALL THE WAY TO THE KEYHOLE! Jeez, we have to walk a lot. stare

User Image
Stick that sucker in there.

User Image
User Image
You wanna know what sucks? We still can't enter the dungeon from here.

User Image
Make your way over here. If you don't remember how to get here, look back at the beginning of this chapter to see the step-by-step route to get here.

Jump across.
User Image
Keep jumping.

There's something I wanna do really quick, so head up the stairs. I promise. Real quick. Then we can get inside the dungeon to kick a** and chew bubblegum.
User Image
Remember to come back here later when you know how to swim. Head left for now.

User Image
Get rid of the Winged Octoroks, then bust out your shovel and dig in the square between those four grass patches.

User Image
You'll find a Secret Seashell. Snag it.

User Image
That makes 9!

Okay! Now we can enter the dungeon! Head back downstairs and to the left.
User Image
User Image
And we have finally made it to the third dungeon, Key Cavern.

Man, this was a long chapter... Next time, we'll clear this dungeon and get ourselves a fine pair of running shoes. Catch ya later!
PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:40 pm

Chapter 9: 9 keys, 8 locks.

Sup, y'all? This is your LP pilot, gabriel sama speaking. Last time, we went through a lot of stuff to find a key to get us into this dungeon, called the Key Cavern. I have a theory as to why this place is called that way, but we'll save that for after we clear this place. For now, let's get started.

User Image
Upon entering this place, you'll be greeted with the name of the dungeon. But take a step forward...

User Image
And the door slams shut in our face. Well, looks like our only option right now is to the right. So go right.

User Image
There's a chest. BUT WE CAN'T REACH IT!
Link: Dx It is pushing me awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay...

Well, better head back to the entrance. Looks like we're stuck.

... NOT! Time to vent some anger at the door!
User Image
Get a pot, and throw it at the door! RAWR! D<

User Image
Proceed through, now that we've resolved our anger issue.

User Image
We're greeted by a Hooded Stalfos swordsman, a mini blob, and... a new enemy. Behold, the Bo-bomb. YET another Mario reference.

User Image
Killing all of the enemies, including the Bo-bombs (it'll bounce around the room until they either hit you/an enemy or just bounce enough which will cause them to explode once you hit them.) will cause a chest to appear.

User Image
Key found. Key: 1 Lock: 0

Head north.
User Image
Upon entering this room, your eyes will notice that chest. Take a step forward, and the doors will slam shut. Approach the chest, and four green blobs will jump out of the ground and proceed to attack you. Once you kill them, the doors will open. Time to claim the treasure in the ch--

User Image
Link: Oh, ******** you blob. =_=

If you want, you can head to the right.
User Image
But besides killing a couple of Keese, you really can't do anything else here. So head back to the previous room and head north. We'll cover the green crystals on the left side of the room later.

User Image
Two orange Stalfos, and a mini blob on the other side of the wall. All you really can do is kill the Stalfos and keep going north. We'll come back for the mini blob later.

User Image
There are raised blocks preventing you from reaching that chest, so just go for the stairs. Take out the green blobs that pop up before you actually take it though.

User Image
And watch out for the blobs in this room too, as four will rise out of the ground around you. If you're smart, you'll dash away quickly while they're still coming up before slashing them. Or you can be me and take the screencap before getting hit. Your call.

Use your key on the north door. Key: 1 Lock: 1
User Image
You'll see a Hooded Stalfos and a Green Stalfos, as well as a crystal and an Owl Statue. Kill the two enemies and any blobs that come up.

User Image
You'll be rewarded with a key for your efforts. Key: 2 Lock: 1.

Leave the crystal for now and head back to the previous room with the stairs, then head left. Key: 2 Lock: 2.
User Image
Upon entering the room, you'll see two bird-like creatures teleport to the other side of the pit, then throw SHURIKENS at you. Dodge the shurikens and kill the birds and any blobs that come up.

User Image
A key will drop on the moving tiles on the left side of the room. Snag it before it falls into the pit. Key: 3 Lock: 2

Head back to the previous room with the stairs and head south this time. Key: 3 Lock: 3
User Image
Another bird, a Hooded Stalfos, and more hidden green blobs. Kill them all.

User Image
A key will drop on the sliding tiles. Again, grab it before it falls into the pit. Key: 4 Lock: 3.

Proceed back to the previous room with the stairs and head through the final locked door. Key: 4 Lock: 4.
User Image
There's another bird, two bats, more moving tiles, and stairs. Let's not do anything here for now, since I bet you're itching to go hit that crystal. So let's go hit it.

User Image
Head back to this room once you hit the crystal, and as you can see, the raised blocks will be down. Kill the blobs that jump up to get you when you return here before getting it though. You'll find a stone beak. Woo.

Head south.
User Image
When you reach this room, head right.

User Image
Kill the goddamn bats that are near you, then walk all the way around and fight the Hooded Stalfos swordsman. Then claim the treasure.

User Image
And it's a map. But wait. Finding a map in Link's Awakening before finding a compass? ABSURD, you say. Well, shut up. I'm doing things out of order. Normally, you wouldn't have to come back here until you find the special item in this dungeon. But screw the rules, I've got money.

Head back to the crystal room with map in hand.
User Image
Kill these guys, and make sure you hit the crystal once to get things how they were at the beginning of the dungeon. Also, talk to Owl Statue since we have the beak early.

User Image
User Image
Keep those words in mind.

Now leave that room and head to the right.
User Image
You in this room? Good. Clear the enemies on your way to the stairs and take them.

User Image
By now you'll start seeing a pattern. If there's a miscolored tile on the ground, chances are a key will show up there. If we wander around and kill any blobs that try to get us with a surprise attack...

User Image
A key will drop once they're all dead. Key: 5 Lock: 4.

Head north.
User Image
Nothing special here (or so it seems). Kill the enemies and keep going north.

User Image
Can't do anything here, so head to the right.

User Image
A couple of Green Stalfos, and more hidden blobs. Kill them, and then go talk to the Owl Statue.

User Image
User Image
User Image
So like the trees near the Seashell Manor and I have told you... if you stab a wall and it makes a different sound, blow the sucker up with bombs.

You know, this arrow formation on the ground looks suspicious...
User Image
Ha! It makes a different sound! Bombs away!!

User Image
Head on through the new room.

User Image
Try all you want, but you will not be able to make that jump with your current equipment. But you do see a cracked wall on the left side of the room. Go make it go kaboom.

User Image
Head through the opening.

User Image
And we're back here. Head to the left.

User Image
The doors will lock and you will be attacked by this swarm of mini blobs and a big blob. Kill them all and the doors will open. Keep heading left.

User Image
There are two birds here and a couple of hidden blobs.

User Image
Killing them all will drop a key. Grab it and head on through the one-way door. Key: 6 Lock: 4.

User Image
More enemies! Kill them.

User Image
A chest will appear, but just out of reach. Nothing we can do about it for now. Head through the one-way door into the next room.

User Image
More Bo-bombs and a Hooded Stalfos swordsman. Wipe them out, but be careful of bouncing bombs.

Talk to the Owl Statue when the room is enemy-free.
User Image
User Image
User Image
Well, isn't that nice to know? Grab the floating bombs in the room, then take the stairs up and south.

User Image
We can now get that chest.

User Image
Yay, money.

Head north, then right.

User Image
Cracked wall. Keep it in mind for later.

User Image
User Image
Oh look, a dead end. But those are some weird colored Bo-bombs.

Head back to where you found those 50 rupees and head south.
User Image
User Image
Push that block out of the way and kill the blobs again.

User Image
Now head north.

User Image
Oh look, a mini-boss battle. Remember what that Owl Statue told you about the black enemy with the hard shell? That's these guys. So get out your bombs and toss them at the mouths. If you got lucky like me and they ended up going up the stairs, then you'll kill them quickly. They each take 3 bombs to kill, and will each drop a fairy.

User Image
Once they're gone and the doors open, head to the right.

User Image
We're now in this room. Time to go claim that chest!

User Image
Open up that chest now that you can get to it.

User Image
User Image
User Image
Yay running shoes~

Okay, now go check out the green crystal at the bottom.
User Image
User Image
User Image
Tackle? Hey, there's a key word. Don your boots and charge!

User Image
Aw yeah. Now you know how to get rid of them. Push the block out of your way and head to the right.

User Image
Get rid of the enemies here, then head north.

User Image
The doors lock behind you when you enter this room with the green Bo-bombs and the hidden blobs. Get rid of the blobs first before dealing with the walking explosives.

If you hit one with your sword...
User Image
They get this look on their face and will then follow you around.
Link: I has a friend. mrgreen

User Image
After a while, they'll start counting down from 3, and when they reach 1, they'll begin flashing. Swing your sword at them to keep them away to stop them from blowing up on you.
Link: Ack! Bad friend! Keep away!!! gonk

Once you get rid of the remaining green bombs in a similar fashion, the doors will open. Head through the door on the left.
User Image
Kill the enemies here, then go open the chest.

User Image
Oh hey, we finally found the Hope-Raping Compass for this dungeon. Happy now people? stare

Remember how we saw there was a cracked wall while walking on the raised area, just to the left of this room? Poke around with your sword.
User Image
Link: Ah, here it is. 3nodding

Drop a bomb in front of the part that made a weird sound.
User Image
Go on through.

I didn't take a picture of the initial, room, but there are three regular Bo-bombs in this room. Take them out.
User Image
Grab the key, and if you're low on health, check the pots. I found a fairy in one of them. Key: 7 Lock: 4.

Head back to the Green Bo-bomb room.
User Image
Yeah, you'll have to kill them again. Well, it's a good thing we healed up. 8D

Head south two screens.
User Image
Once you're back in this room, clear the enemies.

User Image
Remember what that first Owl Statue said? "Far away... Do not fear... Dash and fly." Right? Well, don your boots and your feather, then run towards the gap. At the last moment, jump. Dash and fly!

User Image
Fly Away Now~

User Image
Well, now that we're on this side... head up the stairs.

User Image
You will need the boots and feather to clear that jump here. Once you make it, check out the treasure.

User Image
Yay boss key~

Jump back across both pits, then backtrack to...
User Image
Here. Remember to kill the Stalfos first. Head south once the pair are dead.

User Image
We can get rid of those crystals now, so make your way over to them.

User Image
Charge right through them and head north.

User Image
Okay, now we can kill the mini blob.

User Image
Doing so will cause a chest to appear on the other side. Head north.

User Image
This is why I told you guys to hit that one crystal to put it back in the original state. So we can go through here. If you didn't fix the crystal, you'll have to walk ALL the way around to the chest instead of this fast route. Just push the block out of your way and head south.

User Image
User Image
4laugh 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh We almost doubled our rupee count just from that. Damn straight I'm ecstatic~

Head north and take the stairs.
User Image
Once we get back here, head over to where we fought the blob swarm.

User Image
Use a key to open that lock once you get rid of the blobs. Key: 7 Lock: 5

User Image
Use another here. Key: 7 Lock: 6

User Image
And here. Key: 7 Lock: 7

User Image
... And I totally forgot we don't have a key for this one yet.

User Image
Fortunately, there's a chest we missed right by the entrance that we couldn't reach before. Head back to where we fought the mini-bosses.

User Image
Take that warp back to the entrance.

User Image
Door slams shut, but we don't care. Head right.

User Image
Remember this jerk? Just charge at him with your boots.

User Image
And there's that missing key. Key: 8 Lock: 7.

Okay, let's take the warp back and go to where that lock was we couldn't open.

User Image
User Image
Bam. Take those stairs. Key: 8 Lock: 8

User Image
Here we'll find a red Thwomp-looking dude.
Link: He looks constipated. o:

User Image
Link: Excuse me, can you move?
Block: >__< NO.
Link: Meanie. :<

Ram into him using your Pegasus Boots.
User Image
Block: I just crapped myself. O_o
Link: twisted

And then watch him drop.
User Image
Drop down on top of him and head right.

User Image
Use your Boots + Feather combo to reach the ladder, and make sure you push up on the D-pad. You'll make the jump, but you won't grab the ladder UNLESS you push up on the D-pad when you reach the ladder and instead fall into the spikes like I did.

Kill the Piranha Plant blocking your way and head down the ladder.
User Image
Use your boots to crash through the green crystals and kill the birds and any slimes in here. The door will then open. Grab the floating heart if you need it before going into the room.

User Image
Did my ears deceive me? Did I just hear a chime when I entered this room? That... that can't be right. O_o

User Image
Killing all the bats will, in fact, drop a key that we DON'T need. Key: 9 Lock: 8

Open the boss door with the Nightmare Key and head on in.
Link:Cue boss fight music, gabriel sama!
User Image
User Image
So the boss is hiding and makes us play a little game of hide-and-seek.

User Image
If you wait a little, blobs will drop into the room, and that tells us he's hiding up on the ceiling. So don your boots and run into the wall to drop him.

User Image
When he drops, make sure you jump. Otherwise you'll be stunned momentarily. When you can move, start slashing at his eye and keep slashing.

User Image
When you slash him to about this point, you need to use the boots and charge right through to split him in half.

User Image
Now the fun begins. Hitting them with your sword will cause them to jump.

User Image
Watch for their shadow and move out of the way before they land on you.

User Image
User Image
A few hits on each of them should bring them down. Grab the Heart Container to gain another heart and heal up.

User Image
Now that the doors have opened, head north.

User Image
9 keys. 8 locks. Makes me wonder why they have that extra key here. Maybe that's why it's called Key Cavern. But... who knows.

User Image
There's our third instrument. Go claim our hard-earned prize.

User Image
Sea Lily's Bell get!!

As usual, it'll play a couple of notes, then have flashing lights coming towards it.
User Image
User Image
We'll then be teleported out of there and given some clues about the location of the next dungeon.

User Image
User Image
Well, guess that means we'll be swimming. XD

User Image
And now we find ourselves at the entrance of the Key Cavern.

Next time, we'll go find a musical instrument WE can use, learn a song on it, gather a shell or two if we're lucky, maybe get another piece of heart, and go check out a new civilization! See ya next time~

9 keys. 8 locks. What was Nintendo thinking? Discuss as you please, beloved readers.

9 Keys and 8 Locks...I think the developers were having some happy time and wanted to make the players confused. However it may turn out to be useful later on. You never know

Link: I can't possibly see how it'll be useful later on. Keys you find in one dungeon can't be used in another.

After some greatful thinking/escaping into my mind to dodge an awkward supper conversation, I've come up with two theories:

1.) As a souvenir as running shoes =/= appropriate item for a KEY cavern.

2.) To trollface people into thinking it will do something, but when they try and use it on another dungeon, they'll be all "aww" that it doesn't.

Link: Yeah, I wrote it off as Nintendo trolling people. It was quite amusing though. :3

The map also looks like a pair of keys. Most of the dungeon maps in this game look like stuff.
