Mostly survival, listen, move silently, hide, and spot. I'm almost done with the character.

Psionics practiced philosophically is named "The way" in dark sun. It's much like adding existentialism to biotics in mass effect. It sounds like a bad idea but it's 'too late'. Also from the flavor text I've read psionics sees the world as is when they're psionically focused but with a kind of ethereal other world. Things smolder with psychic aura's. Some don't, but it's much more about a mental journey in those regards. So Shaqim is more likely to ethereal or blunt about things to an awkward degree because he spends so much time out of sink with the real world.
Mechanically this would be no different than intentionally holding psionic focus all the time. Anything forcing him out of this state would actually annoy him. Dark Sun psychic warriors are more like psychic monks in that regard. So Shaqim would be true neutral. In those regards the challenge posed is motivating Shaqim to a cause. Beyond survival which is always a quest in Dark Sun.
Speaking of which if you ever roll for weather randomly. I will mail a punch directly to your d**k. There is a chance rolling randomly on the weather table will just arbitrarily party wipe. The air heats up so much the party and just about everyone gets cooked alive.
No save, because if you're traveling? There is miles of desert, no shelter. Just dead. Dead, dead, dead. No saves, nothing. No lube, no thank you, no mercy, just dead. Dark Sun all ready has nine mc billion ways for you to die.
Also the other reason I was asking is I was considering orking it up. But that only flies in the green period before the genocidal crusades wipe out orcs and gnomes. That's also only if I accept that death will happen most brutally at some point unless I power game my nuts off.
Also a crystalline great sword? It's covered in martial weapon proficiency it's just usually made of inferior materials. Thri Kreen vomit solves a lot of integrity issues. How ever for a user of the way it's like a jedi waving his light saber around. "JEDI!? NO FACKING WAY- oh lightsaber... wanker... >_>" I think it's only master work and psionically conductive but I don't think it gives any enhancement bonuses.

Also to the other players who haven't rolled dark sun before?
This is going to be a trip. I don't want to psyche you out, but I need to hammer this home. Everything and every one is going to try and eat you. This is a post apocalyptic game. Your life is measured in ounces of water. Survival is great and very well may save you, but it wont find you water. I feel confident in mentioning that at some point you will see someone die of dehydration. If you get sick and get the runs? You can't retain water, you have to slit your throat at that point.
Otherwise things are pretty amazing and bizarre in dark sun. I have to say my favorite session of dark sun I was underwater in a salt tap well. We found a suit of full plate artifact that held prince's soul. My soul is instantly eaten by the artifact and I found myself suddenly playing a female Mul Paladin in the body with a male personality of an ancient prince. So things were accordingly awkward. This is when 'the collector' made our parties day infinitely shitty.
Dark Sun is my favorite setting I never get to play. It is D&D hard mode. Also if you have played dark sun before ignore this post.

Wrasynth Ksyamen Survival is great and very well may save you, but it wont find you water. This is mitigated by never leaving the cities. Now my char is obviously made for a more social game. If things happen to take us out into the depths of the desert, 8str just isn't enough to carry enough water and noms, and 8 con isn't enough to last long at all, so I'll die. =

Wrasynth, just want to say, that was probably the BEST explanation for Dark Sun I've seen. Anyways, once you have a character done, I'll look at it and we'll see about your stuff.
Mush: 1x Elven Longblade 1x Tortoise Blade 1x Studded Leather Armor 1x wastelander outfit
100 ceramic in adventuring gear and special substances from the DS rule book and athasian emporium (note that the stuff in SRD adventuring gear is in GP there, but use the same number for athasian versions.) No Metal.
No saving money.
Jacior: 1x Quabone 1x Wastelander Outfit 2x Candle of Rejuvination
100 ceramic in adventuring gear and special substances from the DS rule book and athasian emporium (note that the stuff in SRD adventuring gear is in GP there, but use the same number for athasian versions.) No Metal.
No saving money.
