I like the Korean people because they are really kind and friendly, and they respect me for who I am, and they treat me like family when I was away from my real family. Really cool people. 3nodding

Hi, my name is Jen. I'm a boring white anglo/east-europe american stuck in the mid-atlantic area of the US. I'm obsessed with learning about other cultures and languages.
Most of my other-culture exposure comes from...um... video games. o.o' I've played Starcraft and Gunbound and I'm starting to be an NcSoft groupie (just City of Heroes/Villains for now. I'm jealous that the Koreans get cooler heroes than the American side does. sweatdrop ), and the korean characters in Soul Caliber 2/3 are the coolest ones in the game. :p
I'm currently on a quest to find some korean manga and popular music.. anybody got a reccommendation? ninja

Hello. My name is Vance. 반스. I am 21 years old. I currently live in Florida.
I was born in Seoul, Yongsan US army hospital. My mother is korean, my father is a white american. I cannot speak or read hangul, but I'm in the process of learning it. We moved from Korea when I was around 4 or 5, and I was not taught korean while I grew up. There is a large language barrier between my mother and I, and since my father has forgotten nearly all of the korean he learned, the only way I'm going to get over that wall is to learn korean myself. This is difficult for me, as there are no classes I can take in the local area, and I am a very unmotivated individual.
I have a strong interest in some day visiting Korea. Perhaps even becoming an ESL teacher, if I decide to become a linguist. But I don't know much about the country, its culture or people, and so I have no pride in it. I do not care for patriotism.

I was born in Philadelphia (Random, yes), then I moved to America. I didn't get very interested in my culture at first, but I slowly did. I visited Korea three years ago, and that's when I simply wanted to learn more about my culture.
