What if I have for the past 3 years, and life has been crumbling since then. I have the choice to drop everything that I have now and move to my father and enter a completely different world. But that could be worse too.

Well, now that's different. You haven't exactly made your choice yet. We're speaking about the after effects. If you stay where you're at, you'll have to live with that choice and make the best of it. The same if you move.
I've actually had to make that choice, but mine was rather simple. My father is an a*****e.

My father is a stranger who broke my mothers heart. Which is why I have stuck with my mother my whole life. And I look at it this way, I cant abandon her.
