I play the tenor sax, and flute. I've been playing flute for 6 years, and started out on tenor this past September. I played the alto sax before them.

Ash Rail KitoYasha I know it's not a very popular thread, but I'm going to sticky this because there have been so many low-woodwind threads lately.
I'm a flautist, but I really want to play the tenor sax, the bassoon (definitely my first choice of lower woodwinds), and the bass flute. And the harp, but I guess that doesn't really count. =) Also, you forgot the tenor flute (I think it's also called the flute d'amour? Don't quote me on that). Is that one in Eb? I've never heard of a tenor flute. I believe so. It's not surprising that you've never heard of it; it's really rare. The good ones always are. =(

The only reason I knew what key it was in was because I'm pretty sure the oboe d'amour is tuned a minor third off concert pitch too. I think ^ ^;

I didn't think this thread was around anymore, much less stickies xD Well anyways I added all the new names, and now I'm asking advice from some tenor saxes. Anything will do, My band director is having me play that for marching band now sweatdrop [X]...queen of my silent suffocation.[X]

|x|is any of this for real...|x|
Uhm..plastic reeds work really well, expecially if you're gonna play during marching/football season..because it's a lot harder to break than regular wooden reeds and they last a whole heck of a lot longer!

I guess with that logic, they're pretty good. There is a noticeable sacrifice of quality for convenience. If you're willing to do that, then go ahead.
: ) I still like my cane better.

Muahaha, contrabass clarinet > biggrin Try playing on an old silver 1969 Leblanc one, the paperclip shape. I can guarantee none of you know the lowest fingering on that particular styling, since it is a wild variation of the old full Boehm. Your right thumb even has keys to push, as well as both pinkies and every other finger. You even have to use your left palm to push down yet ANOTHER key to play the looooow C. I enjoyed repairing it, but I didn't have the leather pads that size to overhaul :c so it couldnt get the upper register to speak (it's not like those are the ones that matter on that baby, lol) I miss that thing, its a pity he needed me on soprano. We only have one bass clarinet in the whole wind ensemble, but he has balls, lol. His little solo in Chester was enough to give us a superior, and some, lol.
