No way. Not even for Mary. Taphos had a rule she lived by. Meddle not in the affairs of skinwalkers, for she is small and tastes good with ketchup. It worked for Kalonas too.

Taphos had never realized until that moment that Mary.... was something of an idiot. The idea was blasphemous, of course, but why wasn't she running?

Mary stumbled back, her hoof hitting the mud outside. Outside. She blinked and grinned then deliberately danced a step back. "That the best you got?"

Namir paused for the briefest of moments, his eyes narrowing as he studied the mare. It was his experience that when the prey suddenly started taunting him, they were either suicidal or thought they had the upper hand.

And unwilling to be snubbed like that, as soon as he turned tail, she bit it. Her jaws clamped down on his tail and she began backing up, dragging him outside.

She kept a grip on his tail, which minimized the damage he could do but... also meant that she couldn't dodge. At all. It took all her self control not to cry out, not to let go. But she was a GODDESS. She could not loose to a mere mortal like him.
