Parted Partners.

Tam was a big girl who could look after herself.

He still wished he was on the mission.

Since the raid party had left Aulus had been keeping himself busy: battling, training some trainees, working out, anything so that he didn't just sit around worrying.

Knowing his partner could look after herself, and knowing that there were plenty of competent people on the mission who would watch her back, didn't make him feel any better about not being there too.

Upgrades.

So.

Aulus flexed the fingers and turned the hand this way and that to inspect it from all angles. His hand. It was surreal.

It was heavy, he'd kept his right shoulder as strong as he'd been able to but it was still heavy. That wasn't surprising given it weighed a little more than a natural arm. He'd get used to it though, no problem.

It was an unbelievable piece of technology, well worth waiting a year for though of course he wished he hadn't had to. Still, he had it now and that meant he could do all sorts of things he hadn't been able to for the last eleven and a bit months or that had been very difficult.

One of said things was teaching his karate class properly, he'd had Rose to fill in for him but it wasn't the same. Now though....

He'd been pondering turning his weekly classes bi-weekly for some time, the group had very mixed abilities and it was getting a bit difficult to juggle. Perhaps it was time to set up an advanced class for those who'd been with him a while? They could do more knife work, swords and staves too for those interested. Come to that, why not a bi-weekly class for beginners and intermediates and and advanced class? A couple of hours three evenings a week was hardly a big ask of himself and now that he was actually confident in his ability to teach he found himself enjoying the sessions.

Alright then, yes.

Aulus opened up the screen on his shiny new arm and pulled up his personal calender.

Vital statistics

Number: 139
Height: 3'03"
Weight: 77.2 lbs
Description: An average Omastar
Nature: Hardy
Ability: During rain, the Speed stat of Pokémon with this Ability is doubled.

History

Seismic disturbances around Sagestone revealed evidence of Kodo's prehistoric life! Trainers were allowed to visit the site and search for fossils to reanimate for a short period of time, and naturally Aulus took advantage of this.

Personality

As an Omanyte Helix was very withdrawn but since evolving he's really come out of his shell! Hahaha. He is an intent predator and doesn't always manage to draw the distinction between 'having a battle' and 'attempting to kill and eat the opposition'. He gives quite a few of Aulus' other pokemon the creeps.

Personality

Borealis is a steady creature with a measured, calm attitude towards life. There is something somehow ancient about her; when she turns her full attention onto you you could believe she quietly lived out all the ages she was buried as a fossil.

Titanium.

The report of the shots echoed down the almost empty firing range.

Snick-clack!

With a new mag loaded with his own hand he raised the gun and fired again.

Snick-clack!

Down the range the chest and head of the target figure were peppered with bullet holes.

Snick-clack!

Again.

Snick-clack!

Again.

Snick-clack!

Field Agents did not, could not, miss when the moment to fire came on a mission.

Snick-clack!

Lives depended on you, you could not fail.

Snick-clack!

And one shot might not be enough; one arm was not enough so why should one bullet or one gun be so?

Snick-clack! Snick-clack!

He raised the second gun, metal clasped in metal, took aim and -

Prepare for the Worst.

With all the Weird s**t™ that had happened recently he'd finally decided to bite the bullet - har har - and get his own firearms rather than just using the ones available at the practice range. Honestly he still didn't quite understand all the buzzwords involved with the things and he didn't care to, all he needed to know was what it did and what to do if it stopped doing it.

Getting the pair of handguns made by the weapons department hadn't come cheap but as he hadn't asked for anything customized it hadn't been exorbitant either, he just sort of resented any kind of bigish purchase when he was still trying to save up for Mega Stones for several members of his team. What he'd ended up with was a pair of 9mm semi automatic pistols, with high mag capacity and a 4" barrel. They were ambidextrous which was obviously important and could be taken apart to be cleaned down or fixed using only simple tools, which he had slotted into his arm in any case. You never knew when a small screwdriver was going to come in handy. Apparently the things were supposed to be very reliable, accurate, and all those other good things you wanted in your killing tools.

Sighing slightly Aulus took the guns out of their case before turning down the range to take his first shots with them. He really hoped he never needed to pull the trigger on these with a person on the other end of the barrel but you didn't always get what you wanted in life. If it was a choice between protecting his teammates and hurting or, yes, killing whoever was threatening them there was only one decision he could make. Team Rocket as a whole might be a band of unconscionable criminals but they were his unconscionable criminals and that was that. Still, hope for the best but prepare for the worst right?

Aulus took off the safety, sighted, and fired.

Mega Score.

They'd been invisibly stalking the trainer for nearly and hour now, the prize they were after was just too good to give up on! A mega stone, kindly demonstrated by the cocky Ace Trainer in a battle against some kid. Watching that popular battle spot was definitely paying off, and hard as it was for him to admit sometimes going in all guns blazing was a bad plan... especially if you still wanted to be able to interact with society outside the base. If he was ever spotted doing something suspicious he was pretty much screwed, it wasn't like he could be mistaken for somebody else. So he and Fox had watched and waited, hidden from the eyes of the world, and now they were following the trainer... least he assumed 'they' were, he couldn't actually see Fox but she touched his arm from time to time to let him know she was still there.

Eventually, after what seemed like forever, there was nobody else in sight. Time to make a move. Aulus stooped to pick up a rock, hefted it, and then tossed it off to the side into the bushes. Understandably this caused the Ace Trainer to freeze and turn in that direction, pokeball in hand. This was Fox's cue for the next step in the plan; a bush appeared to rustle and a shiny Chikorita appeared to step out into the open and blink up at the trainer.

"Ha, now this is my lucky day! Go Gengar!" The Ace Trainer grinned. "Alright, use Hypnosis!"

The Gengar did so but the illusion Chikorita shielded its eyes with its leaf and, squeaked in distress, and turned flee.

"Oh no you don't!" the Ace Trainer scowled and took out the Gengarite; Mega Gengar of course could prevent its enemies from escaping so it was a perfect choice for facing a rare pokemon you just couldn't pass up. The Ace Trainer made to toss it to his Gengar and-

"Hey!" The Ace Trainer yelled as the Gengarite was snatched out of his hand by an unseen force; he flailed after it but didn't manage to even brush against whatever it was that had stolen his precious item. "Gengar, find it!"

The Gengar had started moving before the order was given but it soon had plenty of issues of its own; Extrasensory sent it reeling backwards and was closely followed by Dark Pulse. Aulus meanwhile had moved around the Ace Trainer who was casting around wildly. After a moment of deliberation he picked up a rock and hit the trainer over the head with it; the Ace Trainer crumpled into a boneless heap and on the other side of the clearing the Gengar fainted after another couple of super effective attacks.

The clearing fell still once more and Aulus relaxed slightly. When he felt Fox's clawed hand on his arm he touched her back in acknowledgement and the pair moved off down the path in silence with their valuable prize slipped into Aulus' pocket.

Apparently patience was a virtue after all.

Shitcrap.

Okay, he hadn't planned on this okay?

To be fair he hadn't planned most of the last five or so years of his life but this-

Shitcrap. She had a boyfriend anyway and... Crap. Was this...? Maybe he was fooling himself. They had sparred a bit earlier, and she'd moved like somebody who could take down pretty much any fool that stood up against her. He vaguely remembered the first time, more than four years ago now- no wonder she was so good and he was so proud!...

And nothing else ought to matter.

But it did.

Shitcrap.

He hadn't asked for- for- this!

She just had a nice smile okay, and when she talked she-!

Okay.

s**t.

Crap.

Excerpt from a training mission report dated 7th October.

Trainees
Eliza Woodward "Opal" (19)
Logan Lancy "Fletcher" (21)
Robert Pothecary "Reaper" (16)

Grunts
Abigail Phillips "Abs" (24)
Lynette O'Dowd "Shockwave" (26)
Stacy Jones "Riptide" (20)
Tim Oran "The Beast" "Idiot Sandwich" (22)

This was a standard training mission in easy territory with plentiful marks and I believe it would have gone very smoothly if Grunt Tim's intelligence surpassed that of the average soft cheese at the end of a hot afternoon's picnic.

...departed 16:00 after standard briefing and prep, arrived at point B without incident, after further briefing the trainees and grunts were dispatched.

...

Update #2 received from Trainee Opal at 16:51, successful theft of two pokeballs from an unsuspecting trainer preoccupied by gathering berries. Authorised her to seek another target.

...

Update #5 received from Trainee Reaper at 17:12, successful theft of one pokeball after a struggle with its former owner, which only happened because he got cocky. He escaped without them seeing his face however, overall would rate 4/10 and recommend an extension to his traineeship to give him time to mature a little.

Update #6 received from Grunt Tim at 17:23. Insert expletives here. He called me on his 'dex while engaging two trainers and requested backup, addressing me as Agent not once but twice. This called an abrupt end to the mission, ordered all rockets to return to the vehicle immediately. Tim was the last to arrive having stolen one pokemon, outed our presence to the KSO, and lost one of his own pokemon. As Shockwave drove us back to base I provided Tim with my initial thoughts on his performance and altered his codename to "Idiot Sandwich" (I have contacted admin to update records to reflect this change).

In addition, post mission, I have acquired two plastic slices of bread from the playset "My First Deli" and glued them to a headband, which Idiot Sandwich is to wear outside his room until further notice unless this will affect his duties. If anyone asks why he is wearing aforementioned headpiece he is instructed to reply "Because I am an Idiot Sandwich", followed by an explanation of why he is an idiot sandwich. If he is seen without the headband I would like to request that fellow Agents and senior staff ask the horrible little man why he does not have bread on his head and possibly order him to do some press ups.

Acquisitions
Normal Eevee (Claimed by Opal)
Unique Butterfree (Claimed by Abs)
Unique Scraggy (Claimed by Shockwave)
Unique Charmander (Claimed by Reaper)
Normal Ponyta
Normal Pidgeotto
Normal Mantyke
Unique Braviary (NOT claimed by Idiot Sandwich no matter how much he wanted it)

Recommendations Summary
- Trainees Opal and Fletcher ready for promotion
- Trainee Reaper to be held back for a month and then reassessed
- Grunt Tim to have his codename altered to Idiot Sandwich and wear bread on his head until further notice. Do not promote without first replacing his brain with something less hopeless, perhaps a wheel of brie.
