Gullien smiled up at the other guardian, too mellow from the sun and atmosphere to feel anything other than lazy. "I'm Gullien." she greeted back, waving slightly and then flipping her hand over to flop at the little newt girl. "And that one over there is Thylassa. I take it you're a new guardian? Not that I know everyone here, but your kiddle looks pretty little." Gullien eyed Delphine with interest. Fins? Looked like Lassa would a swimming buddy. Odd legs though.

Lassa eyed the little Mishap sitting next to a bit cautiously. From her lofty old age of toddler the new baby looked like... a little baby. She had fins like Lassa did... and her legs were curly like Lassa's eyes were... she splashed a little with one hand, still unsure how she felt about the newcomer. "H'llo." She tried again, not sure what else to say.

"Yes very new." Kay replied shifting her position slightly so Delphine wouldn't end up headfirst in the fountain. "I only became her guardian a few days ago, it's weird though because it feels like it's been alot longer."

Her gaze went from Delphi to Thylassa and back again taking in the fins and tail. "I take it Thylassa is a bit of a water baby too?" she grinned. "I was expecting tramua central the first time I gave Delphine a bath, but the hardest part was getting her back out again."

"Loloolo!" Delphinie copied Thylassa's greeting, or atleast tried to. Lying across her mama's lap she could now reach the water better and resumed her splashing. The water wasn't nice and warm like her bath, and it didn't have bubbles either, but it still it was wet and made nice splishy noises.

Kay smiled kindly at Thylassa and gave her a little wave. Obviously she wasn't the only shy one. Wrinkling her nose as Delphi slashed away and got them both wet, she looked down at the little fish-kitty who was now chattering away happily as she splashed. Well atleast Delphine was outgoing.

Gullien eyed Thylassa as the little Mishap squirmed so that her bare feet were now in the fountain. "Yep, she's a water lover. I've had to drag her out of bathtubs, sinks, fishtanks, lakes..." Her expression darkened a little as she though of Lassa's last experience with a lake. "Perhaps a little too much of a water lover, really." She sighed, tugging gently on Lassa's tail. "She's great for baths, but she can be a little pest otherwise."

Lassa flattened her ears, sticking out her tounge at Gullien. She was not a pest! Water was there for people to be in it! That's how it was supposed to be! Gullien just didn' get it. "Hiyo." She tried again, kicking her feet in the water and twitching her tail away from Gullien's hand. Well, at least trying to. "'M Lassa." she tried, wondering if that would go over well. What did you do with a baby? Well... she hit Sabriel... but he started it. She probably shouldn't hit this baby. "Was name?" she asked the new big person, pointing at the baby. Clearly water had distracted her form the introductions.

Kay smiled as she watched the other guardian and mishap interact. She wondered if she and Delphine would stay close as she grew. That was a slightly sad thought but something she wouldn't have to worry about for some time atleast. She snapped out of her thought at Thylassa's question.
"Her name's Delphi." She said using her nickname instead, thinking the whole thing might be to much of a mouthful for a toddler.

Delphine ceased her splashing, beginning to tire of just hitting the water with her hands. Rolling over she stared up at the guardians and Thylassa wide eyed. Huh, the 'Lassa person had funny things on top of her head. Were they her fins? Or maybe they were her legs? Delphine curled and uncurled her own legs as she pondered this.

"I guess I can expect trouble when this one learns to walk then eh?" Kay grinned at Gullien. "I've already had to stop her eating the pet fish, the soap, the sponges." She made a face. "Buying fish shaped ones may not have been the best idea."

Gullien chuckled. "I can't say Lassa has ever tried that. She's not really that interested in fish though... she seems to like bland mushy stuff. I'm told she may take on some newt characteristics. I'm hoping not too many, I don't really want to feed her worms. She might like them, but I'd feel like a child abuser."
And really, she would. Not that she hadn't eaten worse in her life, but she'd never forced a child too. She probably couldn't keep Lassa eating oatmeal forever though...
"I take it Delphi takes after a fish?" Although it seemed odd... she have fins but she seemed almost cat-like. Hopefully Thylassa wouldn't notice that part.

Lassa kicked at the water, all four eyes trained on Dephi. "Defi?" She kicked at the water, eyeing the baby. "Defi a fish?" She asked Kay, reaching out one hand to gently touch the other mishaps fin. It wasn't as hard and spiky as hers... she raised on ear curiously. "Defi swim?" They could swim in the fountain... Gullien wouldn't stop her, probably.

"She's a fish-kitty!" Kay grinned. "Apparently whatever spell she came from had something from a Lionfish and a Tiger." She tickled the mishap's stomach. "You think they take on more characteristics of the things they were made from as they get older?" She frowned at this. "The note I got about her said her spines weren't poisonous - at this point. Sounds kinda ominous huh?"

Delphine continued to watch everything with wide eyes. She giggled when Thylassa poked her fin and again when her mama tickled her tummy. When her mama's voice started getting a bit worried however she kicked her legs and waved her arms for attention. "Ma!"

Kay pulled the little mishap upright and gave her a snuggle. At Thylassa's question though she turned to Gullien. "I don't know if she can swim yet or not."

"I'm sure they do. At least in some cases. Lassa wasn't born with a tail, it's something she grew later." Gullien tugged on it again and Lassa writhed, poking the offending arm away.

"No poke!"

"Sorry kiddo. And I know Chinchillie's kid, Sabriel. Have you met him? He didn't look nearly as cat-like as a baby as he does now. Hmmm... not poisonous yet... yeah, I'd worry. Maybe stock an anti-venom or something." She still remembered Sabriel's claws. Yeesh. Some of the kids could be downright dangerous.

Lassa huffed, offended as Gullien pulled at her tail again. She didn't pull Gullien's tail. Much. She didn't pull it as much! Looking over at the squirming baby, she hopped off the rim of the foutain and into the shallow water. It only came up to her shin. "Defi swim?" she asked again, stomping in the water to demonstrate.

"I'm hoping that if they do become poisonous she'll be old enough by then to be responsible and careful with them." Kay replied tickling the fins in question gently. Seeing how shallow the water was and figuring that Delphi probably wouldn't drown with her and Gullien sitting just there, she plonked Roo and the ground, turned to face the fountain a bit more and asked Delphi "Would you like to paddle a bit?"

Delphi clapped her hands gleefully. "Ba!" Of course she would! She could show 'Lassa how much splashiness she could make with her long legs.

Holding Delphine gently, she lowered the little mishap into the fountain, making sure to still keep a good grip on her, she could get downright slippery sometimes.

Delphine flicked her long tail as it touched the water, then when her feet entered she squealed with glee and began to kick then as hard as she could, getting herself and her mama thoroughly wet. "Ma!"

"Ek, Delphi!" Kay groaned as she got water sloshed onto her tshirt and jeans. "She does this at bathtime too" Kay explained to Gullien. "I always end up as wet as she does. I'm thinking I should buy some swimmers."

Lassa squealed gleefully as water splashed all over her front. "Eee! Good, Defi!"
Those were really good splashes! Bending over and smacking her hands in the water, Lassa returned the splashes with gusto! Good splashes deserve more good splashes. Didn't everyone want to be wet?

Gullien groaned faintly as water sloshed over the side of the fountain and down her back. Oh well. It's not like Lassa could actually break the fountain? Right?
"Hopefully she will be older. And immune. I don't think lionfish can poison themselves... Well, let's hope for immue." Course, Kay probably won't be immune but that didn't bear mentioning. "Lassa's pretty good in the bathtub itself. We have a Japanese style bath though, so there really isn't room for splashing. She's a pain during the washing though. Buckets of water everywhere."
Another wave of water flowed down Gullien's back.
"Actually, she's a pain everywhere. Squirt, less splashing, please."

Delphine shrieked with laughter as Tylassa splashed her back. Finally someone who understood what water was actually for! She curled her long legs up as they were tiring, and began to copy 'Lassa's hand slapping movement. "Ishie!!" she squealed, apparently deciding that it was a good enough word to describe anything good.

"I was more worried about other people really." Kay sighed fingering the for now non-poisonous spines. She shook her head and grinned, "But for all I know that day is far off or may never come, so I guess there's no point worrying about it until it happens." She winced as another wave of water splashed her. "In the meantime researching an effective drying spell would be more useful I think."

Gullien shrugged. In her opinion, other people should just watch out for themselves when things like spikes and spines were about. Someone who managed to poison themselves on a huge spine probably deserved it. "You're a mage then?" she asked, cautious despite herself. Well... it would make sense. The shop did cater to the leavings of mages, but she's never actually met one here. "Is Delphine your miscast then?"

"Ishie?" Lassa asked, sweeping her hands in the water and letting it soak all the vicinity, as well as the carpeting. "Fishie?" Delphie did look like a fishie... sorta. She was finny, like some of the fishies in her pictures books. "Hey!" She tugged at Kay's sleeve. Pay attention to meeeeee. "Hey! Is Defi a' fishie?"
PostPosted: Fri Mar 24, 2006 2:05 pm

"Eh no I'm not a mage or a witch!" Kay hastened to say. "I do have some spell books and things around but the only thing I manage to do is ruin perfectly good cauldrons. I thought maybe if I found a spell Maggie might be able to perform it for me. Maybe enchant something." She gave a quick grin. "So no I didn't make Delphi. I've been thinking about trying to get a vision of who made her, but it's kind of hard to concentrate when you're holding a wriggling baby."
Seeing as this comment might confuse poor Gullien futher Kay went on to explain. "I'm kind of a Seer. Not very good at the seeing the future thing and I can only really see other stuff if I have something related to what I want to see to hold and concentrate really hard." She made a digusted face, "I'm sure I used to be better at it, must be getting out of practice."

Delphine cocked her head to one side as Thylassa repeated her words. "Ishie?" She said questioningly unsure if she'd used the word the right way or not.

At the tug on her sleeve Kay looked down at Thylassa, well she seemed to have gotten over her shyness pretty quickly. A smile burst onto her face at her cute baby voice, "Yes she is! Part fish atleast." She flashed a smile at Gullien, "She's so darn cute!"

Delphine gave a grumpy huff. She didn't like her mama giving so much attention to someone else. Grabbing onto her mama's sleeve she puffed her fins at Thylassa as if to say, that's my mama, hands off!

Gullien tilted her head at Kay's words. "Yeah, she can be. Delphine's pretty sweet too." Gullien tilted her head, considering Kay for a moment. "You're surprisingly normal for a Seer." she said bluntly. The ones she'd met before had all been... well. Although if they saw anything like the things she'd seen once or twice, it was understandable. "Is your Sight magic-based or are you a God's patron?"

Completely misunderstanding Defi's gesture, Thylassa playfully puffed up and shook her ears fins back at Defi, stomping her feet in the water and wagging her tail for good measure. "Defi a fish!" She informed Gullien.

"Really? That must be why she's in the fountain. What's your excuse, kiddo?"

Lassa turned back to Defi and Kay, eager to show off. "Lassa a' newt!" She declared, getting the hard work out surprisingly well. Her bobble eyes boinged as she nodded decisively. "A blu' newt. Newts like wata."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 25, 2006 1:28 pm

"Eh-heh" Kay let out a tiny embarassed laugh at Gullien saying she was normal. "I guess it's magic based" She said after pondering Gullien's words for a minute. "I was pretty much born with the ability.."
Kay grinned as Thylassa explain what kind of mishap she was. "You have done your research Lassa!"

Delphine meanwhile had taken Thylassa's puffing up, tail wagging and water splashing as a direct challenge. She'd show the newt girl how big and scary she could be!
The kitty-fish mishap uncurled her long legs once again, and with a huff puffed both her kitty-tail and all her fins as far as they could go. She let out a deep throated "Rooowl!" and with that she kicked her legs as fast as they could go.

At Delphine's outbrst Kay looked down shocked, she'd never heard that noise before. Deciding that this was not a happy sound she reached over and plucked Delphi from the water. "What's the matter chicken?" she soothed noticing Delphi had puffed herself up into what was usually the precurser to tantrum mode.

Delphi just clung to her mama dripping wet and wide eyed, slightly shocked at her sudden removal from the fountain.

Gullien raised a brow at Defi's roar. "Hmmm, I take it the non-fish part of Delphine is something a bit territorial, huh? That was quite a noise." She flicked her tail in annoyance as Lassa fussed with it, but didn't stop the little girl either. "Do you want to go back to the room?" She asked Lassa softly. She didn't want to make Kay or Delphine feel unwelcome, but if Lassa was uncomfortable...

"Nah." Lassa replied, seemingly preoccupied with Gullien's tail. Glancing up after a moment, she glanced at Kay and then Gullien. "Pola' come out? Pola' our dog." She informed Kay.

"Polar's not a dog." Gullien corrected absently. It was clearly a rather old argument between the two. "Would you mind?" She asked Kay. "He's very well behaved, but he is big and can be a little scary if you don't know him."

"Pola' not scary!"
