The effort expended by Zac NOT to fire a sacrilegious almost undoubtedly BLASPHEMOUS response to the first part of the statement was physically clear as one hand shot out of pocket, pointing, mouth open, then he shut it hard enough to click his teeth together and clenched his fist and made himself take a deep breath before jamming the hand back in his pockets.
"...and thats supposed to be -fun- I suppose..." He said sounding suspicious as though he might be infected with the condition of 'enjoying those activities'

"Better than hanging out alone at home on a Saturday night." He raised both eyebrows at Zac, meaningfully: it was obvious what Ever assumed he would have been doing, if not for this pseudo-date. It might not even have just been teasing. Maybe he truly believed it.
"Food." He settled a hand in the small of Zac's back to redirect him, twisting him toward their target: burger joint. Dive. Cheap, greasy spoon. It didn't look clean, but it smelled really good. Ever nudged him forward, in the door.

You could have bent metal poles around him the second the hand touched Zac's back, apparently his personal space bubble was nearly as big as his 'bubble of irritation' but he at least didn't say anything about it. He was working on it... not just for Ever but for just because... it wasn't working very well.
"... It does...Smell good." He admitted and let himself be nudged while trying to re-losen the brick like stiffness that had locked into his shoulders.
"And besides, theirs nothing wrong with being alone on Saturday...I have classes to keep up with." He added just to make the point.

"Keep up during the week, then." At least it had only been a brief touch, right? And Ever read that tension like a book, turning to flick away his cigarette and give Zac some space. He understood people better than he let on, sometimes.
He'd follow Zac in, still sighing out the last of his lung full of smoke, and then gesture toward a dingy little booth in one corner. The place seemed primarily full of families, truckers: not a hip young scene. "We can just go sit, they'll find us."

"Homework, weekend assignments...reading lists." He shot back regretting his choice of words, it made it sound like he struggled more than he did.
He rubbed his arm, a nervous gesture he hadn't used for ages but he slid into the booth turning his face out to scan the faces of the families and truckers that gathered here.
He looked like he was already wondering if he would upset people just by being here.
He sat back after a moment seeming to relax at least slightly. "How did you find this place?" he queried.

Ever dropped down opposite, legs stretched out and fingers sliding through his hair. There were menus tucked into one end of the table; he reached out easily to pluck them three and drop one almost carelessly down in front of Zac.
"Um." How should he answer that? He flicked absently through the laminated pages, barely even looking at the words on the page. He probably knew what he was going to order before they'd stepped in the door. "Um. Someone bought me dinner here once."

"...Oh" He said and picked up the menu, after all what else was there to say?
He stared over the list searching out things that seemed likely to be most suiting his taste...then picked over a few other things that just sounded like they might be good to try.
Should he keep talking? Should he just shut up till they ordered?

Ever closed the menu, finally -- cheap, simple, almost exclusively breakfast and burgers -- and stared thoughtfully across the table at Zac, fidgeting and shifting. He had long legs; he'd almost certainly invade on the younger man's personal space again. Nothing to be done for it.
"I'm not sure how much you actually want to know here, so, uh." So he shrugged his shoulder, eyes flashing away in search of the waitress. "I'm not flippant, I'm filtering."

"I'm always curious about people... I'm just reluctant to share in return." Zac answered honestly having picked out a bacon cheese burger, it seemed simple enough and he hadn't really had anything but cafeteria hockey pucks in a while. He shifted his feet trying to clear room for Ever's longer legs as well watching the fidgeting.

"Yeah, that's not what I mean." He flashed Zac a brief smile before going back to tracking the waitress around the room. She caught him at it and held up a finger before retreating into the other room to deal with her last few orders, and Ever made a little noise.
"Nevermind. Don't order their waffles, because I don't think they've ever cleaned the machine."

"...Ah... oh, you mean details on..." he trailed off and cleared his throat, "er.. yes I'd rather not know about... yes. I don't think we need to be sharing that."
"I was... contemplating a cheese burger with some bacon... is that safe?" He asked glancing over the well abused plastic over paper.

"Safe enough if you like bacon." He got it out before the waitress appeared at their table, flicking looks over the pair of them, perhaps a bit suspicious. She was certainly not young, nor hot: not that either Ever or Zac really cared. And Ever beamed up at her anyways.
"Scrambled eggs and home fries, and um, wheat toast." He offered up the menu and then blinked across at Zac expectantly. They weren't a couple, and Ever wasn't going to order for him.

"Ah... Cheese burger please, add bacon, no mayonnaise... um...medium well if that's an option at all?" He said polite but not really smiling or critical, 'Thank you." he added as he put the menu back where he'd gotten it from.
Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner covered between them, funny if nothing else.

She was quick and efficient, agreeing and retreating quickly enough to leave Ever grinning after her. swiping a hand through the back of his hair and leaning back in the booth. His feet were in the way enough that it was hard to tell if it actually was accidental or not.
Eventually, his attention swung back onto Zac, elbows rested against the table. "Let me see that ID again, huh? Now that we're in better light."

Zac fished the card out of the dephts of his pocket with a little bit of squirming since it got caught in the folds of his pocket.
"Here..." He said at last sliding it over, most of the information looked accurate, height, weight... and so on, the age slid him just a few days past 'legal' for the kind of places you wanted to take him.
"And yes...I memorized the date on it." He added quietly.
