mwahmwahFelicity McKee sat with deadly stillness before her vanity set, dragging a velvety red pigment against her lips. Her mother used to always say red was a color for whores and wayward wanderers. Felicity wondered what her mother would say to her daughter being both. The vampiress let her hand drop and smiled indulgently into the empty mirror stand, as if the framed corkboard—covered in pictures and polaroids—could somehow reflect her velveteen mouth. But she didn’t need a mirror to tell her she looked good enough to stop a man’s heart. Felicity rose from her seat and let herself out of the unlit room, shutting her door behind her with a distinctive ‘click’. She paused in the hallway and listened for her clan’s voices. Tonight they were fairly quiet, though a few peals of uproarious, startling laughter rang out before melting back into mildly tense conversations. She’d heard another of their clan had been killed that night, felled by the hand—or gun—of one incredibly confident hunter. Felicity absently wondered how many more of her kind would have to die before they were allowed to rip the woman apart.

She was still absorbed in detailing the stranger’s demise should they ever meet when she made her way silently down the stairs and entered the common room, her mouth pursed with petulance. She flitted about her fellows for a while, leaning in and delivering her opinion on their next course of action when she deemed the conversation worthy and trying very hard to seem like she remembered their fallen comrade fondly, but quickly found herself growing bored. After nodding grimly in Whathisname’s memory and offering a swift, bitter shake of her head when the topic of his hunter came up, Felicity McKee excused herself and sulked out into the hall. The front door had been opened and the night’s air smelled as sweetly as summer and kissed her lifeless skin with indifferent affection. She basked in the sutble chill for just a moment, her electric blue eyes slipping shut, before the gentle murmur of voices caught her attention. She recognized Rameses’ instantly and tuned her hunter’s ears in on his conversation taking place a good few rooms away. Her spine straightened and Felicity flitted forward to shut the door before turning curtly on her heel and striding purposefully towards the leader.
“If you would like to stay for a few nights, to determine whether you desire to stay here, I can show you to an empty room. A proper bed always beats the floor or a dismal cave.”

She seemed to materialize just behind his shoulder, her eyes as bright as lightning and assessing the newcomer just as quickly. “Or I can show her.” Felicity suggested brightly, backing her proposition with the sparkling, exuberant confidence so typical of her. “I’m Felicity.” She added, beaming the girl a megawatt smile, but making no motion to embrace her. Newcomers tended to be nervous and flighty and she highly doubted scaring off a new clan member would put her in Rameses’ good graces. She tilted her head to the side just so and made no effort to conceal her curiosity about the stranger. “What's your name?” She chirped, her genuine interest reflected in her tone. For a merciless killer, she was terribly perky.

Mitch couldn’t predict Angela’s reaction to him basically saying that he was quitting the team. He knew she was going to be angry, he was turning his back on something he has been a part of for a good part of his life. Not only was he letting the team down, but he was letting Angela down. His partner in crime, the one he always loved working with. The two of them have been fighting together for such a long time. They started out as friends which eventually led to a relationship. Was he really going to give all that up? Was he going to go back on something he gave a lifetime commitment to?

When he thought about it that way, it made Mitch seem like an awful person. Back when he was a human and the best hunter on the team, if he ever came across someone who did what he just did, that person would have hell to pay. He would make sure that person would regret giving up on them. It was just something you didn’t do. If you joined the team, you were on it for life. Very rarely was there a good excuse to leave the team.
But I do have a good excuse, I am no longer a human. They changed him into a werewolf, into the enemy. It was their fault for changing his DNA and changing what he was. Just thinking about the things that he would do to a traitor made Mitch scared. He knew Angela, and everyone else, would not tolerate this. They, along with the leader would be furious. They lost their best hunter to the wolves.

Mitch wondered if they would be so angry with him that he would be next on the most wanted list. Would capturing or even killing him be someone’s next mission? He couldn’t bear the thought of being hunted by one of his former fellow hunters. He knew if they were really angry with him that they would give it their all. Mitch’s only advantage was that he knew most of their tactics and moves so he would have a good fighting chance. Even still, he supposed he should lay low for a while. He would make sure to take Angela’s warning to not cross her path again. He could tell she was serious about it. Her anger spiked his own anger again. Ever since the transformation his control over his anger has been harder to manage. It seemed like even the smallest things could set him off.
“Well, I guess this is goodbye then” Mitch said giving her one last look.

He made sure to get a good mental image of her face so he would always remember it. He turned around, something that made him very cautious of because his back was now towards her, and prepared to run off.
“I love you” he said before he ran off from that spot as fast as he could. He had to get away from all this. He didn’t know where he was going to go, so he just kept running. He really didn’t want to go back to where the rest of the werewolves were probably staying. He needed time to think about his decision. Am I making the right decision? Was turning his back on everything he once believed in what he really wanted? Mitch kept running with no destination in mind. He had no idea where he was now, but that didn’t bother him. Getting back would be easy with his sense of direction, and smell.

I don't want to change the world ~ I just want to leave it colder

User Image Hearing Mitch once again confirm that he was actually living just hit Angela like a knife to the back. She couldn’t understand how he could this. How could he leave everyone? Leave her? She blamed those monsters he had been living with. They had convinced him to believe their way of thinking which blinded him from the truth. Werewolves and Vampires were monsters. They needed to be destroyed. Mitch knew that at one time.

She never took her eyes off of him as he tried to stumble through a pathetic goodbye. There was no point. Did he realize that? There was no way he was able to make this right except admit that he was wrong and come back home with her. As the time passed she knew that would never happen. It didn’t matter. That fact alone fueled her anger. But it was nothing to how much it flared to hear Mitch’s last statement. I love you. That was bullshit. He never loved her. She may have loved him but he never did. Otherwise he wouldn’t be doing this right now.

Once he was out of sight, Angela turned to the nearest tree and just punched it as hard as she could. Then she hit again, and again. She continued to punch it to let out her anger. She imagined the tree as Mitch and just let her anger out on him. She stopped once she felt her hands start to grow numb. Looking at them, they were both scratched up pretty bad and bleeding. That wasn’t the smartest thing to do when vampires could be around. They could smell the blood better if it was exposed. Knowing that any vampire Angela were to come across now would end up dead, she decided to head back to headquarters. They would just have to deal with the fact that she wasn’t bringing in a live one.

††††††††††††

Angela exited out of the infirmary of the headquarters. They had patched up her hands for her. She didn’t explain to them why she had the injuries. They didn’t ask either. With the jobs the hunters had, it was all too common for them to have injuries and to ask about all of them would just be a waste of time. Plus, when Angela wasn’t working as a hunter she spent most of her time in the infirmary helping develop antidotes and cures. She was determined to find a cure soon and she liked the feeling of helping out. The people had no reason not to trust Angela.

She still found out that she had anger bottled up. She needed to get rid of this feeling. She only knew one way of doing so. The training area was pretty empty. Most of the hunters were out or helping out with research. Angela was grateful for the alone time. She started to slowly punch the punching bag, throwing in a kick or two here and there. As she went, things started to speed up. It was a nice workout. As she continued her pace, Angela thought about where Travis was. He was the closest thing she had to a best friend and she really wanted to talk to him. Not even to talk about what just happened but to take her mind off of things. He was good with that sort of thing.

Being left in the office to fend for herself, Morgan reluctantly stood to leave before remembering that Rameses was going to converse with Michael. Her choices staying put in the office or leaving to face her friend, Morgan chose the former. With, presumably, all the time in the world to confront the matter at hand, Morgan looked down at her lap. Her alienated fingers fidgeting atop her thighs. ‘
I can‘t keep ignoring him forever…’, wanting to make amends with Michael more than anything at this particular moment, Morgan shook her head to shake the idea from her mind. ‘ I could simply be imagining things, though…’, thought she with a frown. A sinking feeling tugging at her heartstrings. If he doesn’t have a crush on you, will you be disappointed? A very good question indeed, and Morgan looked down at her palms. Feeling rather depressed from pondering that statement, Morgan began to dismount the chair. ‘ I can‘t keep thinking about this, I he wants to talk about it, I guess we‘ll talk about it.’, Propping herself up with one hand on Rameses’ desk, Morgan was just about to turn towards the door when she heard footsteps on the steps.

Using her aura to reach out across the atmosphere and feel what she assumed to be Rameses returning to his study, Morgan’s eyes widened upon feeling the presence of someone else. Having never knowingly shared blood with Michael, his presence outside the door remained a mystery for a few moments longer. Hearing the loud, familiar, thump against the door, the metaphorical color drained from her skin. ‘
Rameses! What did you tell him?!’, feeling cornered like a mouse in a cage, all Morgan could do was turn around and send a smile in Michael’s direction. Not her usual, cheerful smile, she smiled more to be kind than because she was genuinely happy to see him. Deep down, Morgan was happy to see him; however, that was tempered by the fact that Michael seemed distressed at something. Uh oh, Rameses told him something he didn’t want to hear. Dreading the first word that would leave his mouth, Morgan’s mouth formed an awkward squiggly line.

Look, Morgan” ‘
That can’t be good…’, Morgan’s stomach tightened in unease as she both averted her gaze and looked into his eyes in the same moment. If sharing eye-contact had ever been a difficult task, it was certainly trifling right now.

I‘m so sorry that I‘ve offended you.”, Morgan raised an eyebrow. ‘
What?’ Morgan blinked in her confusion. “ I really didn‘t mean to. I never want to hurt you. You‘re my best friend after all. And I know this is the worst part of this whole ordeal but I have no idea why you are mad at me so can you just tell me and then do whatever it is you see fit?” , Tilting her head slightly as his words continued to progress, all Morgan was capable of doing was stand there and blink. Before a a kind: ‘are you crazy?’ playful expression splashed onto her face. ‘ Is that what this is all about? Did he think I‘ve been mad at him the past few weeks?’, her mind decided to pipe up a reasonable explaination. You avoid him like the plague, what else was he going to think?. Swallowing her pride, Morgan looked down at the ground as if the carpet held some fantastic answer to give her friend. Figuring there was nothing better to do than keep avoiding the truth, Morgan lifted her chin and held one hand on her hip. The other still pressed atop of Rameses’ desk.

I suppose that is the worst part of it…since I‘m not mad at you.”, her mouth curving in her teasing half-smile, Morgan raised her eyebrows in a knowing expression. Shaking her head as if the idea that she was mad was a foolish contemplation. Purposefully trying to lead him off of the scent.

I‘m not mad…”, she repeated, averting her gaze. “ I‘m sorry if I made it seem that way, I mean, I know I‘ve been evasive lately. I um just feel a little strange aro-…”, knowing if she said those final words that he would ask ‘why’ she felt awkward around him, Morgan shook her head to try and dismiss the matter as nothing before biting her lip and taking her hand off of the desk. Walking forward to fold Michael in her arms, Morgan gave him her best bear squeeze and nuzzled her head against his shoulder like she used to. However, after five seconds that hug began to become awkward…and the funny thing was, as much as Morgan wanted to, she couldn’t quite remember how to move her arms to break the hug.

Sitting in the lounge at headquarters, Travis was talking with another fellow hunter. It was an early night for Travis. There wasn’t an assignment for him waiting when he arrived a few hours ago. It angered him that he didn’t have an assignment waiting for him everyday like some of the others, especially Mitch. Before he left to become a spy, he always had assignments waiting for him, and he always had the best assignments. While he always got the assignments that required the most action, Travis was stuck with more of the rookie jobs. Checking traps, helping with the research, boring stuff like that. It wasn’t until Mitch left that Travis got the more exciting jobs, but never as much as what Mitch got. So tonight Travis went out for a short walk around the areas that some vampires were recently spotted, but headed in early when there seemed to be no sign of them anywhere.

He’d been sitting all by himself reading a magazine about new hunting equipment when Peter came over to talk to him. Peter was the kind of guy that loved to talk. Travis only half listened as the man talked about everything under the sun. When the topic of Mitch came up, Travis tuned in more to see what he had to say. No one had heard from Mitch since he left to spy for them as a werewolf, so any news on him was important. Many believed Mitch was dead, the werewolves not believing his story and killing him. Others had hope and said he was just too busy to report back to headquarters. Either way, his whereabouts were a mystery to everyone. “It’s too bad we haven’t heard from Mitch. He was the best here. Everyone looked up to him,” Peter started saying. Grumbling to himself Travis didn’t like hearing about Mitch. They'd hunted together and were even friendly with each other, but secretly he was jealous because he got all the attention. All Travis wanted was to be recognized, but with Mitch around, that was impossible.

Saying he had to go, Travis left Peter to find someone else to talk to. He couldn’t stand hearing how much Mitch was missed and how great he was at everything. Travis secretly hoped the werewolves ate him alive, that way he’d be out of his way. As he walked around he heard someone in the training area. It was an unusual time to be training any new hunters, so he went to investigate. Peering through the door, he saw Angela fighting with a punching bag. He took a moment to watch her furiously attacking the innocent bag.
“You show that punching bag whose boss,” he said walking in the room. He could tell Angela was angry about something. Maybe her vampire escaped? Travis knew Angela was very dedicated to her job, giving it all she had. Walking up to where she was standing, he tried to figure out what was wrong. “Who pissed you off enough to take it out on this poor punching bag?” It was a serious question, but he tried to make it light in case Angela wasn’t willing to tell him what happened. He didn’t want to make it worse by badgering her for answers.

Michael knew the instant that he walked in that Morgan was still upset with him. Sure she may have smiled but it seemed like she just put it on out of courtesy. He really put himself in the dog house. Why couldn’t he think of what it was that he did? He had been racking his mind over the possible things he might have done. Then a thought dawned on him. Oh no. She found out! It was the only explanation he could think of. She found out that he was the one to turn her. He was the one who practically stole away any life she could have had with her own family. No wonder she had been avoiding him like the plague.

The look on her face almost confirmed everything for him. Here he was sprouting off like whatever he had done was trivial when to her it was a big deal. Of course, it was to him as well. He felt horrible for what he had done. After his feelings for her changed, Michael didn’t want to do anything that would ever harm Morgan. There was nothing he could do about it however. What was done was done. He couldn’t change any of it. He would just have to suffer the consequences. She wouldn’t want to see him after this. All that was left was for her to say the words.

Michael nodded his head along with what she said…until the words actually registered in his head. What did she just say? She wasn’t mad at him? How could that be? Michael was about to interrupt her and voice all these questions and then decided it would be better to just let her explain everything first. Once she was done talking, then Michael would speak but not before.

What she said last, Michael was a bit confused about. What was she going to say? Was it important? All these questions left his mind when Morgan wrapped her arms around him. It felt so nice to be this close to her again, even if it was just as friends. Sure, Michael had stronger feelings for her but he would never act upon them if there was any hint of it jeopardizing their friendship. Smiling slightly when she gave her attempt at a bear hug, Michael squeezed her back lightly and even lifted her slightly off the ground, as if to one up her.

He was hesitant to let go of being this close to Morgan. He decided that he would finally let go of it once Morgan showed signs of stopping it. ”You don’t know how happy it makes me to know that you are not mad at me. I was going slightly crazy trying to figure out what I did.” His conversation with Rameses popped into Michael’s mind at that moment. According to him, Michael had been on Morgan’s mind. He had just naturally assumed it was because she was upset with him. But if she wasn’t upset, then why was she thinking about him? ”Do you mind if I ask you something? Rameses told me that you had been thinking about me and I had just assumed that it was because you were mad. So if you are not mad? Why were you thinking about me?” Michael didn’t really have any kind of idea as to why she might do such a thing. He was simply curious. He never let his mind think that Morgan would be able to return feelings stronger than their current friendship.

I don't want to change the world ~ I just want to leave it colder

User Image Angela was getting lost in what she was doing. She just let everything out. All her anger and frustration with Mitch and all the sadness she felt with him abandoning her. The loneliness she felt, the hurt, everything was just being unleashed onto the punching bag. She knew at the rate she was going, she could easily destroy the thing and be responsible for paying for the replacement. At the moment, it didn’t matter. Nothing mattered, except survival and Angela was going to make sure that others who couldn’t protect themselves against these monsters would be safe.

Hearing Travis’s voice took Angela out of her little world. At another time, she might have smiled at his little joke. Travis was someone who could usually cheer Angela up when she was done. Her mood at the moment would be a challenge, that was all she knew. Giving the bag one final punch with quite a bit of power behind it, Angela turned to look at Travis. She couldn’t find any words to say to him at the moment. So she simply just smiled and then grabbed a towel that was nearby to rid her face of the sweat that had accumulated. She took a seat on a bench and then looked back at him. ”Hey Travis.”

She knew that he was wondering why she had been working out like she had been. Looking at her hands as she recalled just how crazy she must have looked with the way she going, Angela noticed that the bandages that her hands had been wrapped up in were red from the blood that soaked through. She vaguely recalled the person who had been patching her up say that she should avoid such actions until they had healed up better. It was quite clear that she hadn’t listened.

Angela started to debate if she should tell Travis about coming across Mitch. It was hard to even think about it but was it really her place to tell the others about his desertion? She knew people would be furious. Hell, she was furious. But Mitch was skilled and this matter had to be dealt with carefully. Did Angela still care for Mitch after everything he had done? She couldn’t think about that at the moment. It would just be too painful to do such a thing.

Taking a breath, Angela looked at Travis. ” Okay, what I tell you, can you promise not to tell anyone else?” This would just have to be a secret between the two of them till she could tell the boss. ”I came across Mitch tonight.” She had to stop there. She knew she would have to continue but she needed to focus before she could do so. ”He’s not going to be coming back. He’s one of them now.” Actually speaking these words was harder than telling herself in her mind or even speaking with Mitch himself. She was telling someone else and it basically made this whole idea concrete. Angela was ready to hold back any tears that might threaten to make their way to her eyes but she didn’t have to worry about that. None came. She was glad about that considering she didn’t want to cry in front of Travis.

Taking a seat next to Angela on the bench, Travis waited to see if she would answer his question. It seemed like she was debating that for herself as it was silent for a few moments. He followed her eyes to her hands and noticed the blood-soaked bandage on her hand. What happened? Travis wanted to ask, but he knew not to be too worried about it. It didn’t look serious and he knew accidents happened. What he really wanted to know was who, or what did she punch to get her hand like that? Now he really wanted to know what happened out there. This wasn’t normal for Angela and he wanted to know what made her so upset. He knew he was in for something when she asked him not to tell anyone else. The wait made Travis come to some bizarre conclusions, one being that she was bit by a vampire. That would surely be something she wouldn’t want anyone else to know.

He nodded his head signaling that he wouldn’t tell anyone what she was about to say. He knew the idea of her getting bit by a vampire was absurd because then she wouldn’t be sitting here right now. What she said next shocked him.
Mitch? She saw Mitch? So many questions ran through his mind at that simple statement. Mitch had been a topic of interest especially since he left and hasn’t reported back since. Remembering her anger, Travis knew the encounter wasn’t a pleasant one. Assuming that he was in fact alive, since otherwise she’d most likely be sad, he wondered what went on out there. He waited anxiously for her to continue on. Her next statement he had a hard time computing. He’s one of them now? He thought that was the point. He was to turn into a werewolf so he could become one of them so they would trust him. Wasn’t that the whole point of his mission?

      “What do you mean?”
he asked, but after a moment he answered his own question. The more he thought about it, the more he began to understand. He’s not coming back. He really thinks he’s one of them. He turned his back on them and is now living with the enemy. Travis was now furious. “How could he do that? How could he betray us like that?” Trying to control himself he stopped for a moment. “Who does he think he is? Did he say why?” he asked now curious as to exactly what happened. “How did you find him? What did he say? Where is he now?” he had to stop to allow Angela to actually answer. He felt bad for bombarding her with questions, but he was curious. After wondering what Mitch has been doing all this time, this news came as a shock to him. It now all made sense, the no contact from him. He was avoiding them, all of them. Thinking about it, Travis would have much rather preferred that he died rather than become a traitor.

I don't want to change the world ~ I just want to leave it colder

User Image Angela sighed as Travis basically attacked her with questions. Usually the only time she sighed was when she was frustrated but that wasn’t the case here. This time it was because she happened to be exhausted. This whole issue was just too much to take. She felt emotionally drained and it was like Travis was asking her to relive every excruciating moment. She knew that he wasn’t trying to cause her pain. He had every right to be curious about this whole issue. Mitch had been one of them. He had a connection with everyone here. Sometimes Angela forgot that. She felt so close to Mitch that she almost forgot that others could take the news just as bad as she did.

She still couldn’t believe that Mitch would just turn his back on them, on her. The last words he said to her just kept running through her brain I love you. Bullshit. He had never loved her. He just wanted her to believe it. He was working for them now. Having him say something like that to her was to throw her off guard. Make her still care about him so he could continually stab her in the back. Angela wasn’t going to be fooled that easily. If Mitch could just walk away from her as easily as he had, then she would do the same. The Mitch she loved was dead to her now. Now he was just a monster. One that had to be eliminated.

Angela was brought back to her conversation with Travis by his last string of questions. This caused her to push away from the bench and walk a ways away. ”I don’t know how he could do something like this, Travis! Why don’t you ask him?” Taking a deep breath, she turned to face Travis again. ”I’m sorry, Travis. I didn’t mean to snap at you but I really have no idea what happened to him. He came across my path and just started talking. We got into a fight and … then he said he was done with us. The werewolves must have brainwashed him or something.” Sighing slightly she walked back to the bench and just looked at the ground. ”Why can’t this just be a bad dream to wake up from? The world would be so much better if these monsters didn’t exist. She rested her head lightly on his shoulder, liking the small amount of comfort she felt there.

Being squeezed back by Michael was indeed refreshing. Almost burying her face in his shoulder, Morgan wasn’t entirely sure she even wanted to break the hold. As awkward as it could easily become if she kept holding onto him like a leech, she had missed him a great deal. ‘ It feels like an eternity since I‘ve held you.’ Closing her eyes to the entire ordeal, Morgan listened to Michael’s reply, and could only hope that he didn’t bring up the awkward subject. A deep pounding resounding in her chest at the very notion of Michael ever trying to peck her on the cheek or something along those lines. However, hearing his words brought her only relief and reassurance. ‘ He seriously thought I was just mad at him.’Rolling her eyes playfully, Morgan squeezed a little more when her friend squeezed his arms around her in preparation to break the embrace.

Do you mind if I ask you something? Rameses told me that you had been thinking about me and I had just assumed that it was because you were mad. So if you are not mad? Why were you thinking about me?”, Morgan’s eyes bulged out like a frog, and for once she was so very grateful to have an excuse to hide her face. Just hovering in his arms to hide the panic-stricken expression so plainly marked on her face, Morgan nibbled on her lip in angst. ‘
Rameses! HE DID THIS.’, shocked that Rameses would interfere in this, even if he was their leader, Morgan’s mouth dropped open and a soundless scoff escaped her lips. ‘ How much did he tell you?’, Morgan didn’t have to ask. If Michael knew what it was already, and he was still holding on to her, then that had to be a good sign; right? Which came the pivotal choice. Lie, or fess up? ‘ I‘ve done an awful lot of lying and avoiding lately…’How does one be honest without mortifying ones-self? Morgan pursed her lip.

I…um……erm…” Morgan was so tempted to break her mumble right there and ask: Why do you want to know? Because she almost knew in her gut that Michael would immediately drop the subject, they would leave as friends, and she would have to keep lying that she liked him every time he hung out with the gorgeous fledgling. True, being turned down would hurt, but it was better to be honest and have a reason to be pitied than to think she had no feelings at all. But that didn’t make the idea of confessing any easier. Oh ho no, if she had her way she’d run back upstairs and hide in her room. Stop being a baby, just tell him and get it over with. That thought was so like Rameses that she wasn’t sure if that was her thought or his; but, either way…It prodded her to move out of Michael’s arms and press her hair behind her ears.

Do you want to hang out later?”, Morgan tried -very- hard to smile as sweetly as possible.

Hearing Angela sigh, Travis felt bad for bombarding her with so many questions. He didn’t mean to, it was just that the news of Mitch leaving came as such a shock to him. He couldn’t help but say the first things that came to his mind. He wanted to know everything that happened and everything that was said. It just didn’t seem possible for someone like Mitch to just leave the team like that. There was no reason for him to leave. His life here was great, one that Travis was jealous of. He had the respect, and he had Angela. That thought made him look at Angela again. He knew her and Mitch had a thing, and this news must be really hurting her. He couldn’t even imagine. From the look on her face, she was thinking the same thing.

Travis was holding on to every moment that went by between his string of questions and her response. When she snapped at him, he was taken aback. He became angry and defensive at her response.
Ask him? Oh ok, let me just go and ask him right now. When she apologized though, Travis calmed down as well. He had to remember how bad this must be hurting her and to ask her to relive it probably wasn’t the best thing to do. It was like he was asking for it. When Angela did briefly explain to him what happened, he listened to every word she said. It was brief and not really everything he wanted to hear, but it was clear that it was all she was going to say about it. He was about to respond, when she went on to ask him the questions.

He couldn’t help but smile when Angela put her head on shoulder. Travis always like Angela, but was always over shadowed by Mitch. Now that he was gone, she was looking for comfort from him. It felt good to be wanted.
“I don’t know why this happened. It just doesn’t make sense.” Travis couldn’t say he wished it was nightmare, because right now it was more like a dream. He put his arm around Angela to comfort her. Maybe now he could get the appreciation he wanted. But on the other hand, the team lost its best member. They must have brainwashed him, he wouldn’t leave otherwise. For the werewolves to have that kind of influence over Mitch scared him.

“The world would be a better place without them, but then where would we be? This is more than a job; this is a way of life. I know for some, like me, without this I don’t what I’d be doing.” After living like this, Travis couldn’t imagine living any other way. Sure the job wasn’t always easy, but it was what he did. His father was a hunter and his grandfather was a hunter. All of the males in his bloodline were hunters, it was part of being in his family. Travis still had a ton of questions about what happened, but he didn’t want to risk another outburst from Angela. He figured he’d find them out at some point. “We have to tell someone about this. They would want to know, they have to know.” That was the next thing on his mind. He knew she wanted to keep it a secret, but this was vital information about Mitch. His name has been plastered all over the message boards for weeks looking for any information on him.

Arraine started to feel panicked once again as this new female approached. She still hadn't quite adjusted to Rameses yet, adding someone new would just put her back to being just as distrusting and closed off as before. Internally she bit her lip out of nerves something she knew better than to do outwardly, that would peg her as easy prey. Something she did not want was to be placed as was an easy target, making it a point of avoiding things that would place her in this category.

Chocolate eyes moved from this new person who called herself Felicity, back to Rameses nervously. With everything going on at the moment in her mind she could not mask her own emotions from her eyes. Personally she did not like the idea of going with Felicity as she did not know her nor did she feel the temptation to trust her either. This girl also held no significant importance in Arraine's eyes for the time being, giving her no reason to have to be with her right now.

Hoping Rameses wouldn't have her go with another stranger she patiently awaited his response. She didn't want to speak at the moment unless she had to. It wasn't that she was being rude but more that she felt out of place near all these new vampires. The situation was starting to make her feel extremely anxious causing her mind to race rapidly. Though she was not paying attention to her thoughts she could still feel her mind reeling.

Michael anxiously awaited for Morgan’s response. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what it was that she had on her mind. If she wasn’t mad at him why was she thinking about him? Ramses had made it seem like there was some problem that needed to be fixed and that was why he had to talk to Morgan. Well, now that he knew she wasn’t mad…what was the problem? Really, Michael was freaking out too much over this. If Ramses wanted him to talk to Morgan something had to be wrong.

He waited anxiously as Morgan released herself from the hug and looked at him. He was quite uneasy. Then hearing her ask her question just confused him. ”What do you mean hang out later? What about right now?” Michael had a huge problem with over worrying about things. He knew it was something he had to work on but at this moment he wasn’t exactly in the right mood to do so.

((this is probably the biggest fail post but I wanted to get something up.))

I don't want to change the world ~ I just want to leave it colder

User Image Angela wished this night would be over with but she knew it was just the beginning. Her thoughts continually went back to Mitch. She missed him. The old him that was the star hunter who she was proud to be with. She wished she would just be able to forget him. That these feelings for him would just go away. Feeling Travis’s arm wrap around her gave her a small amount of comfort but it also reminded her of Mitch.

After hearing Travis’s comment, Angela had to disagree. She lifted her head up from his shoulder and looked at him. ”If werewolves and vampires didn’t exist, I’m sure you would find something to do with your life. I, for one, am not going to thank them for being monsters simply because it gives me a job. And yes it may be a way of life but that is simply because if it wasn’t, there is no way in hell we would be alive today.” She sighed as she tried to collect her thoughts. She couldn’t believe that Travis would say such a thing. Angela had often wondered what her life would be like if vampire and werewolves didn’t exist. For one, her family would still be alive.

”I know we need to tell the others but I want to run it by the boss first.” Angela knew that he would have some idea on what should be done. If they would just tell anyone and everyone, there would be chaos at the base. No one would be able to function correctly.

"What do you mean hang out later? What about right now.", Morgan could only squeeze her eyes shut and try not to expell a sigh. ' Boys!', Smiling, if only to try and reassure him that she was alright, Morgan turned her chin towards the door and anxiously looked towards the knob. As if she expected Rameses to step inside at any moment. Speaking of the man, Morgan certainly had a bone to pick with that gentleman. If ever she had the courage to confront him on the matter. Tilting her head to look back at Michael, who was still left standing there in somewhat of a confused daze, Morgan tried her best to smile.

        "
I just meant that I wanted to meet later", Morgan said the tone with emphasis, as if he would know what she meant. Waiting a minute in awkward silence to see if he would get it; at last, Morgan resolved to herself that he was still clueless and in the dark. ' Be obvious girl. No other way to make yourself clear.' With a pout, Morgan shook her head and let out that sigh she had witheld a few moments prior. Suddenly, a heavy rock was in her stomach, and her tongue felt like it weighed an extra five pounds. Telling him what she meant was too difficult right now, she would have to wait til the 'later'.

        "
I...uh...mmm......", searching for the right words, the only thing Morgan could come up with sounded horrible; so she decided to state the next best thing and save herself a little embarrassment.

        "
I'll tell you upstairs...just give me ten minutes.", With that, Morgan headed towards the door. Not even responding -if- he spoke up, she flighted up those stairs like no-body's business. Like the flash, Morgan was gone and in her room without even a two minute time-gap between the final word and the slamming of her bedroom door. Alone to herself once more, Morgan darted towards her closet and pulled open the sliding door. Had there been moths in her closet, they would have flown out at exactly that moment; however, as it was, she was greeted with cobwebs and a musty scent. ' Oh come-on...I have to have something nice in here.' Shaking her head, Morgan started pouring through the articles hanging up inside the hidden cave.

        ~

Finally settling on a little red dress and a pair of Mary Jane's, Morgan finished the ensemble by pulling on a dark red hoodie. A half sparkling red bow-shaped barette holding part of her hair in place. To be true, the wierdest factor of her outfit wasn't the clothes, or the attempt at making her hair look pretty; it was the make-up. Morgan almost never wore make-up, but she had put a little bit of eye-liner and mascara on to try and look 'appealing'. After all, with what she hoped to say, her ego demanded the attempts at style to coax her self-esteem. Whether or not Mike liked her that way, if she had just imagined it or not, she wasn't going to blame herself and say she hadn't tried to 'go after' him. '
This is in no way fashionable, I look silly...', sitting down on her bed to throw away the Mary Janes and put on her knee-high combat boots once more, Morgan felt a little more like herself. Smoothing the fabric of the dress, Morgan let out an unneccessary sigh. ' There. Thats better.'

        Now where was Michael?

Morgan could only think of him pacing up and down in some hallway. Which in no way brightened her self-confidence. '
If he doesn't show up here soon, I'm going to lose my nerve...' She nibbled on her lip. ' Dang'it Rameses...Why can't you keep your nose in your own business?'
