Riley's comfort and calm may have had something to do with the fact that G had been nearby, partially obstructing her view of the terrible cauldrons and what was going on within them. She had only really noticed Calder's attack on Red, after all. When G sidled up next to her, she finished hanging up the blanket in her hand and then curled both her arms around him as best as she could. She found that was a tougher task than it seemed, but she patted down his back as best as she could regardless. The gentle giant needed comfort, it was clear.

Relax, G. It's not so bad. She soothed softly. Don't look at the crazy. Just come help me hang these up, and soon enough we'll be done. No harm, no foul. Won't it be nice to be done soon? Then we can leave, and not have a care in the world.

She held up a blanket for him, and a few pins. Here now, you're tall. Reach up to the higher lines and hang this for me, won't you? Distraction was the key to getting through this task without any further distress.

She was, for once, being a good little she-wolf and quietly carrying armfuls of blankets to the cauldrons. Then she sulked back to the endless pile of blankets to repeat the process over again. And over. Annnnnd over. Jackdamnit, why couldn't the smell go away? She'd had to grab a blanket or two that were very questionable and felt her skin shudder. Oh she was going to spend hours in the shower after this! HOURS!

LW didn't notice the disturbance that was occurring at one of the cauldrons. But she did hear the authoritative voice of Red. She stumbled in her walking and looked all over for the werewolf professor until she spotted her. Well, there were two cauldrons... LW promptly headed for the second one with her next load to deposit.

Curious, she paused to see who else was 'assisting' with grabbing blankets up. She noticed Barth (that was a shock), Christof, and Cora right away. Huh. At least they were doing this without too many complaints. Minus Barth. LW was still pondering on if she wanted to attempt an escape yet. Maybe not yet.

It was the combined effect of shouting and yelling that broke him, and he stopped his hoof suddenly, looking about. It was only a slowly sinking feeling that he had to stop and the weight of what was happening. First off, a undead hunchback was close to beating the life out of him, and there was the additional firmness of a very pissed teacher at his back. A girl screaming for dear life under his arm, and plenty of eyes looking right at him.

Now his ears dipped low, from fear, embarrassment, and the anger slipped off him like water. He just made a very bad situation of an already bad situation, and he slowly loosened his grip, letting other students take Lizzy aside as he dared look up at Red once more, now with the appropriate mixture of fear and shame. "I…I'm sorry." He managed, wanting to swallow hard but finding his throat instantly dried by the scowling, horror of a teacher that was Red.

He wanted to crawl in a hole and die, and he looked like Red would be happy to provide the later part through sever beating. For him to even ATTEMPT to hit her was wrong. SO VERY WRONG!!!!!!!!! Not only that, but everyone had caught that he had attempted to do.

Looking at the water, he slowly tried to step back, away from Christof, who looked ready to tear him limb from limb to make him a patchwork kelpie, which he doubted anyone here would want to sew back together again, and from Red, who looked ready to throw him in a vat of boiling water.

When Calder seemed to back away from the professor and the Demoness, Christof lowered his fists but did not unclench them, finally giving a meaningful shove to the petit Kelpi's shoulder to show him he meant business. You did not try to kill his companions, at least while he was watching. With a glance to the professor it seemed his assistance wasn't needed, and so he backed away himself to see to the heaps of stinking sheets and blankets.

Along the way, though, he pulled out the stack of forms from his vest, giving them another look over. These... these were an Igor's gold mine. He was fortunate Barth had left them in his care, and also that there were more than three copies here. Apparently the office had either expected him to ruin a few along the way, or just in case the Demon had decided to mark anyone else for his trivial reasons. No matter. On the way back to the pile, he spotted Colette, eyes narrowed as he stalked towards her, form in hand... but she seemed busy, or at least busy avoiding work. Well... well, fine. He didn't have a pen anyway. He stuffed the forms back into their safe place, returning to heft up as much as he could carry to bring back to Junko for sorting.

Red's lip curled. Even though Calder had stopped the attack, his Fear continued -- it was a light bump, but a bump nevertheless. "Listen here, whelp," she growled. "You never, never attack your allies unless you WANT them to turn on you. All it takes is one traitor to kill an entire pack, one traitor to poison them all and make them unable to work with another ever again."

"Two," she continued, waving off the students who were ready to intervene. "You used your Fear to attack me without a battle license. Do you wish to be expelled, Calder? You are certainly treading the right path for it. Come with me." She grabbed ahold of his arm and began leading him out of Detention, stopping at Lilith's quesiton.

"You didn't do anything? Don't kid yourself. By chosing to do nothing you did something; by standing by and letting something happen is in and of itself a choice. You were there. Therefore, you are guilty by association. This isn't a daycare, unless you'd like me to send you there along with the clothes you lot will clean?"

The professor looked around the room, adding, "I will be back shortly. I suggest you don't try to leave." With that, the professor disappeared with Calder in tow to the Main Office.

GUESS WHAT! Red's gone! You know what that means? You may now attempt to escape again. Since she's not here, scoring a 2, 3, 10, or 13, will allow you to escape. If you already tried to escape earlier, you may roll again.

If you fail, a gnome shoos you back in with either death threats or by shoving another load of dirty clothes into your arms.

Once you escape, you cannot come back in!

Lilith didn't agree with Professor Red, not at all. How was she to blame for things that happened that were not her control? Pffft. She didn't say anything in reply though since Professor Red was already on the way out the door. Instead, she waited for until the professor left. She looked around carefully, looking at the door to make sure the professor didn't abruptly come back. This was her chance to leave and avoid this horrible work. Idly, she found herself looking at Bartholomew. He was probably on the same page as her, except he had done something -- not something she'd consider an offense exactly but something the school might.

She made a move for the door and just as she was about to leave she felt something on the trail of her outfit and it was pulling. She tried to move forward more but slowly her footing fell backwards. She tried to take another step forward but when her foot lifted to move her balance was off-set and she fell backwards. She caught herself, but she was now blocked from leaving by the gnomes. They... had touched her outfit. Lilith suddenly had a desire to go into the water herself, and with the kelpie gone, it was not nearly as dangerous to.

"Fine," she murmured to herself. She decided she'd just suck it up and get it over with. She would do the cleaner of the tasks and just hang up the freshly cleaned stuff. If she was lucky maybe everyone would take really long to clean the laundry and it would just never get to her. It wasn't that the reaper was lazy, she just didn't like the idea that she wasn't in control, especially for just being in the area.

((wry all dis happen wen I sleeeeeeep?))

Maritess had stared in utter shock and disbelief at Calder's action. She didn't know what Kelpies did, what they were meant to do. Then again, even if she did, it didn't excuse what Calder had tried to do to her friend! She would have grabbed for one of the stirring sticks and tried to use it to ward Calder off but then Red and some of the other students had handled the situation. Risking a reprimand (or not, now that Red had left), Tess flew to Lizzy's side to hug her friend "I'm so sorry I wasn't able to protect you like you did me in the Truth or Dare!" she apologized. "Do you want to rest? I'll take over your job while you do."

Colette watched the spectacle, disturbed by Calder's actions. This was definitely a different side of the boil she saw at Dash Dating, trying to spark romance and such. He had tried to attack a teacher! If that wasn't bad enough, it was the Gym teacher. The actions made Christof, of all students, look a little bit sane.

At the thought of Christof, she glanced at the boil and saw his balled fists. At least he's focusing on someone other than me. It would be nice to get a break. Three times. THREE TIMES. Without a single day-break in between.

The good thing was that Red took the deed of hauling the troublemaker to the office, and Colette saw it as another chance to escape. After all, they couldn't block the door if Red had to leave!

The idea of sleep clawing at her mind, Colette headed for the door, but gnomes had promptly blocked her way just as before. She soon found a handful of dirty clothes being shoved into her arms, the Reaper's face twisted into a disgusted frown. At least she knew which job she had now...

Teacher gone.

Paperwork, unloaded.

He had done exactly one sheet of laundry, which he thought was about as much as anyone could expect from him. He looked at the door, ready to make a break for it. And started his break.

Gradually.

The door was really far away.

He gave up halfway through and just pretended he was carefully inspecting the laundry for sorting.

He'd been expecting the detention. What he hadn't been expecting was the... clothes. Or the blankets; he sort of wished he was in his skeletal form, seeing as how it lacked a nose entirely. Morton made a slight face at the situation at hand, but as soon as that was done, he frowned and reached to roll up his jacket sleeves straight up to his shoulders. The sooner they started, the better for everyone.

The cauldrons were more than impressive, but seeing as how he had no skin... he figured he'd be of more use getting the clothes out of the water and switching them from cauldron to cauldron, as such, he went to join Livi's side. He was so into his silent work (again, being of the clear mindset that the sooner he worked, the sooner this would be over with), that he did not notice Calder or Lizzy until it was way, way too late. His eyes grew wide as he watched, and he reached out with a hand to grab onto Coralie's sleeve as she walked past him. He was way too far to do anything over there, but his instincts demanded he keep the reaper safe. Or at least, as 'safe' as he could at the current moment, and that involved keeping her near him and away from the Kelpie. Livi, whom had been a touch nearer, had rushed off to assist the poor ghoul.

He was most relieved when Red appeared and spoke up. Morton had never been so happy to see a teacher in his life; what sort of student would try to harm another student? Like... really harm them? He knew there were battles, but that was more of a sport, not like this, "Cora, wait," the words were hissed her way, his voice rather serious for once, almost urgent. This was not interesting at all to him, and most certainly not his type of fun. In fact, his instincts were screaming for him to go help Lizzy, but he remain in place, seeing as how he knew he would get in the way. Red seemed to have it covered. He noticed LW out the corner of an eye, and again, on instinct, he reached out his free hand and grabbed her too; the fact she looked utterly oblivious was what prompted him to do it, mostly, "I don't remember your name but uhm.... just.... stay here for a bit, will you?"

He watched as Red dragged Calder away and it was only then that the Gargoyle released both ghoul's arms, having the decency to look mildly sheepish about it, "M'sorry... there was trouble and I reacted," he looked back at the cauldrons and.... swiftly decided he was not going to leave Cora's side. So thus, he'd just do what she was doing.

By this time, she had stopped screaming; her face was close enough to the foul liquid that the smell alone was choking her... She did not wish to get any bleach in her mouth. However, when she heard Livi's voice and felt his touch on her hand, Lizzy squeaked out, "StopCalder!" and promptly got her first (and hopefully last) taste of bleach.

It tasted worse than it smells.

Thus, it came as a huge relief when she felt the Kelpi's grip loosen. Her first instinct was to cling onto Livi's hand for comfort. She was shaking, more from straining her muscles than from fear. When her eyes landed on Calder, her second instinct kicked in and she slapped the white-haired boil across his cheek, "If you're your own master, control yourself." It seems like she remembered his bitterness over the idea of having a master during Truth or Dare... Romance poetry master or not, he had tried to drown her; that was unforgivable. You do not try to drown your schoolmates.

"T-Tess..." Now that Red had dragged her attacker away, she no longer felt as angry over the incident and proceeded to return the hug - only to realize that she was still holding onto Livi's hand. Promptly turning a deep shade of pink as she let go, Lizzy quickly returned the Undead's hug before dipping her head at the Demon.

"Thank you for that..." She smiled at him as she looked over Tess' shoulder while hugging her, feeling significantly calmer; no more stirring for her!

During all the commotion, Raziel suddenly noticed how clear the exit seemed to be. Just over there, in the distance... just there. It would be no trouble to just dash over and out the door, right?

Well, hopping down from the small step-ladder, Raziel idled closer and closer to the door, pretending to be doing something useful and important in this laundry fiasco, like find more bleach or soap for the cauldron. As he got closer and closer to the door, Raziel started to spot more gnomes all over the place, and his chances for escape were quickly squashed. He unhappily returned to his post at the cauldron, stirring and stirring and stirring. How boring.

After consoling G, Riley had gone back to hanging up laundry. She had even been doing this as Calder was scolded for attacking the faculty member who had been watching them. Riley appeared to be interested in none of this. Her hands deftly pinned sheets up to the line, before moving the line and starting again. She would watch G's progress as well, to make sure he was doing the same.

However, Riley's quiet contemplation was not from disinterest. She had been listening to every word that had been said, and found the entire confrontation very interesting. It seemed the student, Calder, had a weakness. An easily exploitable weakness. One that found him attacking a teacher, no less - without any real provocation. If Riley had a mouth, she'd be smiling like a cheshire cat.

Sadly, it looked like Calder was being led away. Furthermore, there was talk of expulsion? Riley paused in her work, and watched them leave. That would certainly put a kink in any budding plots that may have blossomed in Riley's mind.

Oh well.

Make sure those pins are tight, G. You wouldn't want the wet blankets to fall on one of the students as we move the line alone.

((lawl late entry))

Laundry? They had to do cleaning of blankets? She was a ghost, she didn't care much for these things.

Holly stuck her head in and watched everyone. "So guys, what are we doing exactly? Or what do you need me to do?" She knew the teacher was gone but she'd try her escape later...

Hm, this wouldn't work. Holly kept her PJs on but took the top part down and tied the arms around her waist. Didn't want to get those paws in the way!

There was too many things going on and none of it good. Calder had obviously lost his mind, or was too far into being a kelpie that he was about to harm someone he thought fondly of. That simply wasn't about to be allowed. Just couldn't be allowed. Thankfully, though, Red did her job properly as a teacher and got him to go away long enough to pull Lizzy away from the cauldron and held her hand securely while she shook. Poor thing. He was glad that she was saved and now wouldn't have to deal with it... but it never should have happened in the first place!

He didn't know much about kelpies or what they did when they lost touch of themselves and instinct took over, but it left a cold feeling inside of him. All students had to be capable of this kind of thing but to see it happen so soon? It was unnerving... When she let go of his hand to properly hug Tess, he smiled softly and shook his head. "You're welcome, Lizzy... I'm just glad you're safe now..." He hadn't even done all that much really, as far as he was concerned. "Maybe you should sit down for a moment and collect yourself, yeah? I mean, Professor Red can't fault you for that..."

But he knew he'd need to get back to work soon. It had been in the back of his mind to try to escape, but it didn't seem the right thing to do. Why run from the punishment one earned? Best to just suck it up and do it.
