Ranvir'haini stepped forward, the fire chasing the shadows from his eyes. His journeying had brought him here, and he would accept his fate. Criollo had spoken of this day, and though Ranvir would miss the Seer terribly, he knew that this was where Fate wanted him to be. Besides, even if Criollo hadn't told him to leave, he would have left anyway. Though he loved his mother's pride, he would never be happy there. And though he would be grudgingly accepted in his father's, he would be branded a coward and sentenced to an eventual death. No...neither of his parents' prides were where he belonged. He belonged here, somehow...though he didn't know the reason for it yet.

But right now, only one thing remained for him to do.

Approaching Skan, he lifted a forepaw and tugged away some of the juvenile mane at his neck, letting the dark hairs fall to the ground. "I hope to prove myself worthy of your pride," he said, his voice soft.

Tikandari's head was bowed low as she watched the others approach the male lion, an odd smile playing on her mouth when she realised it was her turn, She took a deep, steadying breath, almost afraid to believe that she had done it. She had found a home. When her pride had disappeared and she had been left alone, she had feared that she would always be alone, and that she would never find another home. But she had. She now needed to find out which clan would be hers and where she would stay.

She approached the male, and bowed her head low. She had no possessions to offer and no trinkets to burn. All she had with her was what her body grew, so she lifted a paw and gently cut away a patch of fur from the tuft upon her head. The fur would grow back, but even if it didn't, Tikandari would have offered it anyway. She had to know. She wanted a home.

She didn't know what to say to the man, nervously awaiting her fate as she offered the fur. "My name is Tikandari," she said softly, her voice quiet. "and I'm ready to know my place. I hope this fur will do." Some of the words were not pronounced perfectly, but her eagerness and honesty was there. Home. Was she truly almost there?

Skan blinked as he saw the next lion approached. Ah, so similar to one he had seen before...siblings? Perhaps. Sometimes, as Skan had learned by observing the ex-rogues growing up was that sometimes lions looked similar, and that's just how it went. He wouldn't question it.

He accepted the hair with a nod of acknowledgement, and busily set himself to feeding the small fire before setting the dark hair on it, watching the smoke thin out before thickening, swirling around in the dark sky above them all.

His eyes moved back down towards earth, looking at the adolescent before him. "Ranvir'haini. You've wanted to find yourself a home, and a home is what you've found." He blinked slowly, letting his eyes linger back to the small golden flame. "You are to be a part of the Bird Clan, where you will finish growing in your mane, but also growing in strength."

Hm. After shaking away the feeling of deja vu, he watched as the next one approached him. A soft coloured lion that seemed a bit shy, if intent on knowing her future. He wondered what it was like, being so uncertain of where your home was until you came to these lands. He wondered if he would ever understand enough to empathize with them. He was available to all, not only tied to the clan that he usually resided in. Perhaps it was time for him to learn more about the outside world, and the risks it might carry.

Distracted yet again, he nodded to the lioness. "It will tell me only the truth of what you desire," he answered politely. How strange it must be to some of them that the flames, smoke, and a little of his power determined their fate.

The flames were calm, not acting as hungry as they had for other offerings. Skan assumed it had to do with the source, and the reading went just as smoothly as he had guessed. This pleased him heavily.

"Tikandari. You've told me your place, even if you hadn't realized it. You are to be part of the Wolf Clan. Welcome to the Ela'wadiyi lands, your new home."

Ah, the Bird Clan! Ronjo mused for a moment before an amuse chuckle escaped from out of his maw. Already the philosophical cogs of his mind were turning, churning about a vast array of thoughts which had all but become unleashed within the cavity of his mind. It was exciting and yet, at the same time, it was the dawn of a new beginning; no doubt another adventure to be had. A grin broadened across his maw.

"Yes, I would like that," he laughed. "Although I have a feeling that its more than my desires that will be answered here."

The stout male breathed deeply and offered a quaint, respectful nod of his head towards Skan-- a simple thanks as other eager individuals were hoping for their awaiting destiny to be foretold.

-----

Durjaya heart was beating, pounding against the cavity of his chest with a frantic rhythm. It was painfully obvious he was nervous although his habit of haphazardly fidgeting seemed to be somewhat of an eyesore. His paws quaked, forelegs trembling like those of a newborn gazelle; weak, insecure, and uncertain. Durjaya, DJ for short, was a very cautious individual, to say the least, and yet here he was-- soon to become a member of the Ela! Well, that was if he was worthy. A sudden fear triggered within his mind: WAS he worthy? The males ears pinned against his skull, fretting.

What if they didn't like him? What if he WASN'T a good guy after all? Worries and woes crowded his thoughts with a flurry while, meanwhile, DJ's lower lip only protruded outward with a deeply concerned, deathly frightened, notion etched upon his face.

Breathe, he reminded himself. Just- just breathe. Yes, the advice was helpful but the panic that sat within the pit of his stomach? Not so much.

Nervously glancing around, Durjaya swallowed. His eyes looked toward Skan for all but a moment before quickly lowering. A front paw edged out in front of him while the rest of his body slowly lumbered in tow, creating a somewhat skittish dance toward the Ela leader-- this fire tongue keeper; guardian of the flames.

"I hope. . . I can be useful, somehow," his voice stuttered, choking out the words with a rather deep, somewhat unexpected, tone. For one who bore a voice that was rugged it no doubt didn't match the inner weakness which harbored such a poor level of self-esteem.

Durjaya curled his tail around toward the front of his body and unsheathed a single claw, cutting away a tuft of fur from his tail. A front paw pushed it forward, closer towards both Skan and the fire, yet the fear of making a mistake, doing something outrageously ridiculous, made the process somewhat a bit more prolonged. But with a final deep breath, he scooted it just a bit closer and quickly retracted his paw.

Almost instantly the male bit down upon his lower lip, cowering meekly as he took a step back. Waiting. Hoping. And trying to keep himself from passing out from sheer fright.

Ranvir nodded. The Bird Clan was where he belonged. Criollo hadn't said specifics, but Ranvir knew that Cree would be proud. "Thank you, sir..." he murmured, before turning towards the group of sorted lions. He lifted his golden eyes to scan the crowd--surely there would be none here that he knew--when a pair of pale eyes stopped him in his tracks. "...Kaleth?" He tried to make his way to his brother, but the crowd prevented him from getting close. He would have other opportunities to find his brother, so he wasn't too worried. After all, they belonged to the same pride again. It wouldn't be too hard to find Kaleth later.

She had watched, nervously as he read the smoke and flames. The truth of what she desired? Was this what she truely wanted? She wanted a home. She wanted to be safe. She wanted...what this pride could offer.

As he spoke again, a bright smile lit up her face. Yes. Even the spirits knew, this was her home. They had welcomed her in, and they would take care of her now. She was safe. No, she was better then safe, she was home. "Thank you," she whispered to him, her voice quiet not from fear but choked with emotion. "Thank you", she repeated again, her smile bright as she backed away. Others would come forth and get read. They would find their home, just as she had hers.

Wolf clan. She didn't know too much of the clans, she realised, but she was happy. She had a family. She couldn't seem to stop herself from smiling. Home.

Tari'Bembe looked on at the lions around her, the number slowly dwindling until it was finally her turn. How long had she waited for this? She'd honestly never kept track, but the length didn't seem to matter as she took a few steps forward. The traditions in this pride were different from what she'd known growing up, but she was looking forward to this new phase in her life. The lioness bowed her head slightly and smiled at the tattooed lion that sat before her.

"Good afternoon," she said warmly, though her words stopped there as she wasn't exactly sure what else to say. Quietly she offered a bit of the fur from her tail that she'd prepared at the start of the ceremony, wondering what the fates had in mind for her. Tari raised her head and took a quick look around. No familiar faces in sight, so she took a deep breath and faced Skan again. Surely they would see each other before the end of the festival, so she could wait that much longer. Just a bit longer..

Arlo rushed towards the ceremonial site Tabi’Nasi had told him to join. He couldn’t help the worry that rippled through him though, what if he wasn’t accepted here on the Ela lands? He had learned so much from her, but he felt it was not enough. What if they quizzed him on something obscure? He obviously wouldn’t know that... though. However, Tabi didn’t either, so perhaps… perhaps they didn’t do it like that. She had just grinned and told him to get going, stating she was confident in him and his wishes to join.

Closing the distance between him and the rest of the lions he watched one move towards a pale lion. Was that Skan? It had to be, as he announced where the lion standing before him would go. Yes. He had made it. Now it was time to choose what to offer to the leader.

Glancing down at his pelt then down at his paws he eyed the seaweed and shell bracelet. It had been a gift from his half mother, Yawo. His father’s true mate. She had said it suited him, and would be a reminder of them both when he was away. Pondering the memory, Arlo slowly pulled the item off his leg, pulling apart the items. He would offer the seaweed to Skan, along with a lock of hair from his mane.

His reasoning was simple. This was a place to restart, a pride to revive his constantly moving mind and become his final resting place. Smiling hopefully he moved around the other lions formed around the leader, moving straight to the front. It was his turn to shine.

Standing next to the lion he offered a bow, placing the items between them.

“I wish to offer you both memories and a piece of myself.”

Waiting for the lion to speak he stood as still as could be, watching and waiting, heart thumping heavily against his chest. This was it.

Faline was one of the last lions to move from the circle to greet the male lion who decided their fate, not that she minded her slow procession being towards the end seemed to calm her more or so she hoped. Her mind was still reeling as the flames licked the shadows and created shapes across the rest of the member's faces. Realizing it was her turn, her body trembled rather from excitement or fear she wasn't sure, but she could tell that it made it even harder to walk even more it made her mind run frantic on what would happen. She had spent the last few years of her left wondering the, no not last few but all of them there wasn't any point in her life that she had belonged somewhere or even with someone and now she was going to be a part of something larger than she had ever imagined.

As she grew closer to the figure she lowered her head her voice soft as the tattoos seem to grow in their intensity, "greetings sir ... I own nothing other than the fur that coats my body and it is that I give in offering." Quickly she clipped a tuff from her head watching as it fluttered to the ground, "I have learned so much and yet so little, I hope to find where I belong."

Shadow clan, yes she had imagined that's where she would end up. But the way it had been said to her made Tawi involuntarily shudder. Where her heart awaits? Tawi found that statement a little unsettling even if she couldn't deny the fact that it was probably true. Taqa was after all the first lion in a long time to show her that her wandering ways were not the life to be living, and perhaps they had grown a bit close over their many talks. Giving her head a small shake to clear these thoughts Tawi's eyes moved to look at Skan, while she wasn't quite comfortable talking to him just yet she did at least nod her head in acknowledgment and silently thanked him before turning and walking away. She would need to find Taqa and tell him the good news.

Skan watched the petrified lion approach him. He had seen his fair share of lions that were nervous, but he didn't think he had ever seen anyone that was this nervous. Perhaps he was worried about what the fire would tell him; Skan couldn't really blame him. A lot of souls didn't know what it was that they wanted from life, and it was hard to lie to yourself when someone else was reading it to you.

He nodded as the offering was given; Skan guessed that acting overly friendly might startle the lion more than he already was. He let himself place the hair offering on the open heat, watching it as it curled. He couldn't resist, and kept glancing up at the nervous lion, watching him as he twitched and chewed on his lower lip. Well, Skan could only hope that he wouldn't faint after hearing what had to be said.

"Durjaya," Skan said quietly. "You may be nervous about your fate, but you shouldn't be. You came here to be part of a large family, and as part of us there is no need to worry if you are good enough or not. We all have strengths and weaknesses that help or hinder us, but I can assure you that you will be of help to us, even if the path isn't clear yet. You will live within the Shadow Clan, and we welcome you with open arms."

Skan accepted the offering from the brown lioness that approached him next, a little bemused that she seemed to be a little distracted. He smiled to himself as he dropped the bundle of hair in the heat, watching it as it burned to ash, little scenes dancing in the flames. Perhaps it was something only he could see; he had never asked his father if others would see the same thing he did, if they saw anything at all.

"Rest your worries," he started softly. "Tari'Bembe, for you are to live within the Sky Clan, where your heart can soar to the clouds and become one with the sky. We welcome you into our Pride."

Ileana let out a shaky breath, she had been watching on the sidelines quietly as the rest of the lions moved forward in order to see what clan "fate" wished for them to go in to. Admittedly the pale lioness was very nervous about her own turn despite having the comfort of her mate by her side. She glanced at Cassian and smiled sheepishly at him before shifting from position to a standing one.

"Our turn," she told him nudging him with her nose before she walked forward. She had always been the more timid of the two but when it came to social situations, such as this, Ileana was often the one to make the first move.

She moved forward approach Skan slowly, glancing back every now and then to be sure that Cassian was following before dipping her head in greeting to the male. "H-hello, my mate and I would like offer ourselves to you and your pride, we have spent a long time traveling and would like to settle here and call it home," she spoke quickly after her first stutter, determinedly.

She set a feather before him, a colorful one that she had received from Rokopelli, the goddess of confusion, as her offering.

Skan knew that there were just a pawful left. If he could remember correctly (and this was after staring at smoke and flames from late afternoon 'til past sundown now) there were perhaps....four more left? Hopefully it wasn't forty, he didn't think he could last that long. He was...oh man, he was a little hungry.

He watched as the lion a little distance away from him get his offering ready. He had seen this often enough, but sometimes it was interesting to watch if there were signs of an internal debate about it, or if they were as certain as if the sun shined.

"Your offering is accepted," Skan answered, prepping the ceremonial fire for the last few offerings that would be given. He let his eyes droop as he placed the seaweed and hair. The seaweed was something a little foreign to Skan, as he had never seen the ocean. Never left his landlocked home, though he knew he never would. The smoke thickened, though the seaweed was dry and thin, it seemed like the flame wasn't sure what to think of this object. The thicker smoke didn't last long, but it did give Skan the knowledge that Arlo wanted.

"Your offering cast a shadow even with the dim lighting around us. Therefore, you will be within the Shadow Clan, where you may start new memories to replace those that you offered the fire."
