I read the Shining, and I gotta say, it was boring for the first half. But ah well. I actually like the movie better. ><

Yeah. I actually manage to read most books before they're even thought of being made into movies. Like that new twelve-year-old girl flick, Aquamarine? I've had that one for a couple of years now, and judging by the commercials, it's nothing like what the movie's going to be.
Oh, and Harry Potter? I didn't even know they were making the movie until it came out, and I'd already read the first four by then. (Started when I was nine, if you'll believe that)
Does anyone feel like one of the main things that makes them "On the Outside" is the fact that they actually READ???

I don't think taht just because you read makes you on the outside. It's more of how yo0u take in what you read and express your feelings about it.

And Aquamarine? I think I read that when it first came out. My librarian gave it to me and went "read this, it's not in the library yet. It's not even really published yet except in select areas. She wants feedback to see if she needs to change anything more" That was odd. And that book was good. But I didn't know they were making a movie about it.

Yes, the book was just lovely.
Unfortunately, they've stuck the lead girl from "Unfabulous", her angsty preteen friend, a bubbly bottle-blonde mermaid, and a stereotypical surfer dude in the lead roles. It looks thoroughly horrid.
