Hearing the burger whimper, Jericho quickly took another bite out of it, which only caused it to shriek once more. Oh well. Before continuing on with his meal, he paused as he saw Riley grab her own burger. Despite the look she gave, and some of his own wariness on the matter... he still watched. It was his curiosity really.
His brow raised as he saw the tentacles dive into the burger and was for the moment, impressed that it was silenced so quickly. Though, the squishy sounds weren't all the much better to be honest. Those tentacles were rather interesting though, as he figured they were currently hard and sharp enough to potentially drive into the skull of some unfortunate beast. It put a few odd images in his head.
Shaking out those thoughts, he looked back at her to see that she had managed to get a brain out of the thing. It was tiny, as to be expected... but it was still something.
As... odd it was to see her do all of that, he wasn't too phased. Though some of the images that had popped into his head were rather disturbing.
"Huh. So they do have a brain," he mused, "Don't suppose the fries do too for that matter."

The little brain was bite size - Riley didn't even have to cut it into pieces. One moment it was in the clutch of a tentacle, and then the next moment, it was gone. Sucked right on in.
Sorry you had too see that. Riley murmured, clearly a little embarrassed. This is also why I get my food delivered. I don't like to eat in front of others. Some people find it.. disturbing. She used a napkin to rub down one of the tentacles, bringing it back to it's clean luster and shine. She did the same to two others, but left one of them dirty - this was the one that, rather subtly, began to deal with the rest of the burger that remained. A few tentacles curled around it, essentially covering it as it ate. If nothing else, she had manners.
I'm not so sure about the fries, but that should be easier to establish. She picked them up and dumped them onto her plate, watching them wiggle mindlessly. Hm. No, I don't think they do. She pressed the meat of her thumb against one, effectively squishing it flat. It made no sound of protest, but it wiggled desperately. There was nothing in it's squished make-up that indicated any sort of organ system.
No. Definitely not. Do you want them? She held out her plate of untouched fries to him.

Within the blink of an eye, the little brain had disappeared. Now of course, this ended up leading to a few other questions in his head... like if the food she consumed went straight to her stomach through some strange esophagus or what. Thinking about it was starting to make his head hurt, so he just decided to try and not dwell on the matter. That was how she ate and he'd try to leave it at that.
"Eh. Different beings have different ways of eating," he shrugged before looking at the fries, "I'll pass. Not a huge fan of those things. But ah... is the burger enough for you?"
It seemed like she was eating the rest of it, but he was still thinking about the peasized brain it had.

It will have to be, for now. She shrugged softly. I didn't come here because I was hungry. I came here because you were hungry, and I wanted to hang out with you, and make sure you ate. If I need further sustenance, I have what I need at home. She patted his hand softly. Now stop worrying about me, and finish your food. As she spoke, she led by example - leaving a clean, empty plate behind as her tentacles moved away. The food gave her none of nutrients she needed to survive - but she didn't like leaving the mess she'd made sitting there. She was simply cleaning up tidily - a point proven by the meticulous rubbing of her last tentacle with a napkin, before it slid fluidly into her drink.
The level of the liquid slowly began to drop. Her eyes closed for a moment, before opening up again half-lidded. She placed both of her hands under her chin, and rested her head on them. Is the one burger going to be enough for you? I know you haven't eaten in days..

She did have a point there. After watching her eat a little longer, he went on and finished his food rather quickly. The meal was a tad dissatisfying, if only because he really hadn't eaten in some time. Though, it likely would have been worse in his natural state; bigger stomach and all.
"Actually, I think I'm going to need some more food," he said a little flatly while looking towards the ordering area again. Frowning, he wasn't too certain if he really wanted another burger though, "You said there are some creatures of interest in the forest right?"

Riley's eyes lit up as he mentioned the forest, and she nodded. Tons. If my kind knew of the wildlife here, they'd all come. I've kept that information carefully disclosed in my private thoughts. She tapped her head softly. I don't want this place overrun just yet. Not to mention, they would not stop at the wildlife. Her eyes drifted carefully to a group of students quite a few feet away, before returning to him.
So, does your question mean what I think? Shall we go hunting?

Grinning as she elaborated on her finds in the Weeping Woods, Jericho was liking the thought of getting a meal there. Seeing how it was off campus as well, he could do it in his true form too as long as the forest wasn't incredibly dense. Though, at the mention of this place being overrun, he had a somewhat unpleasant image of Mindflayers all around, devouring everyone's brains.
Shaking out that picture, he nodded and stood up from his seat.
"Yeah, I think a little hunting sounds great right about now," he said before starting to make his way to the door, "Once we get off campus, I'll fly us into the woods. It'll be faster that way."

A low-pitched, vibrating sound emanated from her mind, feeling more like a purr than anything. Her hands clenched into fists in front of her. Excellent! I've been itching to go, myself. It'll be much more fun going with you.
She stood, taking her plates and placing them in their proper receptacles, before following him out the door. How exciting. An aerial view of the forest could help in planning out more lucrative hunting grounds. It would probably look pretty nice, too.
Once outside, she pulled his jacket tighter over her form to keep the chill away, and spared a quick glance at the other visible campus buildings before following him into the forest.
I should warn you. I didn't see anything that a dragon would consider big. So you might be in for a little disappointment. There were some lovely creatures that ran in packs, though - a nice grouping of them would probably satisfy your voracious appetite. She chuckled, bumping her shoulder into him lightly.

Tossing out his trash as well, Jericho headed on out with Riley, feeling a bit of the chill as they went through the doors.
"That sounds good, though on the flip side I could always catch it in my true form and eat it in this one," he said with a grin, "Either way is fine with me. I still end up with a full belly."
Considering his natural abilities, he could easily roast whatever he caught too. And he generally preferred his meat somewhat charred anyway. The thought of getting some real food was rather exciting to the dragon. It was more work, but it should definitely be worth it in the end.
Once they were off campus grounds, he went on to remove his pin so he could shift back to his true form.
"Hop on and hang tight."

Riley and Jericho would disagree on taste preferences for food, as he liked his charred while she preferred hers raw. And squirming. She was equally excited as he, however, about the hunt itself. She had been truly looking forward to it.
When he shifted, she moved to his side and wrapped one arm around his neck. It felt familiar, being able to pull herself up and settle on him. Huh. I kind of missed this. I think you've gotten me addicted to having such a noble mount. She patted his neck and secured her leg hold, then slid both arms and locked them around his neck.
She was pretty sure she could hear some swelling, legendary music in the background, and although it fit the mood, she looked back and saw something flicker in one of the windows of the main building. Was that a gnome, flailing strenously as he rocked out? So that's what they did in their spare time.. She turned away, and willed herself to forget that she'd seen it. It was time for the hunt.
Let's ride.

"Haha, well, not many people can say they have a dragon they can ride," Jericho said with a rather toothy grin. Before taking flight, he too heard what sounded like epic music. How fitting. Not really bothering to see where it came from he launched himself up and forward, bringing his wings down forcefully to gain lift.
Once he was in the air, he soared on towards the woods in the distance, covering ground rather quickly. They were fairly high up in the air, so any beings that were ambling around below seemed rather tiny from their vantage point.
"Come to think of it, you hadn't really ridden me in flight all that much have you?" He practically shouted to get his voice over the winds that rushed by. The dragon recalled flying a little with Riley but it generally was going up and then coming back down nearly immediately.

Riley flattened herself out of necessity when Jericho really started to move, unaware of just how much of her strength she would need to keep from sliding off his body. She was suddenly very thankful for her morning runs, as her legs clamped down firmly.
No. She murmured - speaking through the mind was rather helpful in times like these, she realized as her voice retained the same volume as before. Only for a moment, in that heroic leap towards the exploding robot. Her words were wrapped in sharp laughter. Sometimes I really wonder if all of that happened, or if it was some terrible, terrible nightmare.
She heard the flapping of his coat as it billowed behind her, and was suddenly very grateful he'd lent it to her - her bare skin would have tightened with cold in the blowing winds, if not for it. Once she felt her position was stable enough, she adjusted for comfort, and peered over the edge to look down at the view below. It was, as expected, captivating.
It's beautiful, she whispered in awe, her eyes focused sharply on the dip of the waning sun as it disappeared into the trees they were flying towards.

Several times, Jericho wondered the very same thing. Though it would be one hell of a nightmare that all the students involved shared. Also one that actually hurt. Dreams should never actually cause pain. But the whole ordeal had been rather surreal in its own right.
"Is this your first really flying as well?" he asked her after she commented on the scenery. Jericho wasn't certain where she might have flown before but he didn't think it was completely implausible for it to happen some time before. Even so it was probably her first time flying in Halloweentown.
Now over the forest, the dragon descended a little, just so they would have a better view of the ground through the trees. It was starting to get darker, as well, which might not have been an issue for his rider and he was able to see alright in relatively dim lighting, but he didn't exactly have darkvision. He was going to have to be cautious on moving around once the sun was down.
For now, he kept an eye out for signs of movement, and took in several deep breaths to try and pick up any stray scents. Once they found a group he could go on to land to let Riley do her thing as well.

Though her eyes remained on the horizon, she responded with a chuckled Yes. It's that obvious, is it? She scanned the distance, then began to focus in on the trees below when she felt their slow descent. I've never flown before, and if I did, all I would have seen was flat, dead, empty land. This view was remarkably better than the one she described, by leaps and bounds. It was clear she was enthralled to be up here.
Riley didn't actually register the darkening tones of the day as a problem - since her eyesight was as clear in day, as it was at night. She wouldn't recognize this as a problem for Jericho unless he mentioned it - or started stepping on noisy branches during the hunt. Maybe she'd have to be stealthy enough for the both of them. She'd make him proud.
Her eyes started to take the forests for movement, though it was a little more difficult looking above the puffs of trees. If you catch a scent, land nearby. I have a plan. She murmured softly.

There was the mention of Riley’s home again. Jericho tried to imagine it once more, and it didn’t produce nice images at all. It was really hard for him to really picture a whole world that was nothing more than a wasteland and he still couldn’t really see how a whole race could live there. He soon shoved these to the side as he needed to get focusing on tracking down some prey. The dragon didn’t reply to the Mindflayer this time around, not wanting his voice to carry to any creatures below as well.
Keeping his senses sharp, he soon caught onto something. Once he had pinpointed where it seemed to be coming from, he went down to land. He was careful to avoid snagging against tree branches and tried to land as quietly as possible. It wasn’t easy, considering his size, but he managed to not make a racket in the process.
Settling onto the ground, he lowered himself so Riley could get off easily as well. He hadn't tried to do so before, but he went on to attempt to speak to her mentally, figuring that had less of a chance of alerting anything nearby.
