"Old man, the Devourer does not know kindness. It is hunger incarnate. Anyone captured by it is as good as dead. And then they are dead." Amy took a deep breath and faced Ryuko. "The stronger you are, the more damage it does. The more damage it does, the more it eats. The more it eats, the more powerful it becomes. The more power it gains, the hungrier it gets. Arin is dead. If she is not dead now, then she soon will be. Along with everyone else on the planet with the bad luck or the thick head to cross paths with it. The only way the Devourer has ever died is to reach the end of its life cycle, at which point a new egg is birthed, and the whole thing starts over again... I suspect there will be a few family reunions on this planet sooner than we would like."

Ryuko blinked his left eye, whilst looking a little dejected. "Old? I'm only a FEW centuries old." he shook his head a bit to re-focus himself. "Anyways, they might be able to beat the beast if they expend all their ki."

Amy scoffed. "Oh, yeah, they can kill it. They can beat it to death with their bare hands, all the while it merely needs to look in the direction of one of the inhabitants of the planet and all their work is reversed. You saw Arin strike the beast. It did nothing. If Arin can't hurt it, none of them can. Even if they could, it would heal..." Amy put her hands to her forehead and took a deep breath. "There is some small hope... The Devourer's life cycle is not that long. In a short while, it will have fed enough to progress to the next stage in its life. It gets much stronger, depending on how much it's eaten... If they can hide... If they can survive... They may be able to defeat it during its transformation. After this transition, its healing is diminished... That is their only chance... But the more they fight it, the stronger it will be... Every body makes it ever stronger."
