Kari listened to them silently. She heard about the death about the person over a rumor but didnt know it was one about her. He ears quickly went to the side but she remained as if she didnt hear anything. He kept her eyes glued to the scenery outside "Does Shadow hate me that much?" she thought to herself.

(Woot! One thought for the price of two! xD Wait, I think that came out wrong....)
"The b*****d had it coming to him." Shadow muttered, flying the plane. "But his first target was teasing Shadow about hanging with me." Rogue said quietly to them. "Then he saw Shadow with Kari. I guess Shadow just got sick of him, and, well, lost his temper. But as far as I know, nobody liked him...." "I can see the volcano. We'll be landing shortly." Shadow told them, messing with the controls. Well, not 'messing' with them, but pressing them so quickly he might as well have. Slowly but surely, they began to lose altitude. The volcano was indeed in view; and looked like it was near erupting.

Kari didnt say anything but nodded her head. She looked at the volcano and stared at it "It might erupt soon or maybe it wont?" she thought. She sighed lightly and got ready for the mission.

Trent didn't know whether to pat Kari on the shoulder to make her feel better or not do anything at all. He couldn't tell if she was listening because she kept staring out the window. He decided not to and instead got out a water bottle and took a few gulps of water. "Hmm, probably why i never met him." Trent added. Trent eyed the volcano below, studying the boiling lava inside. He took another gulp of water to calm his senses.

A few moments later, the helicopter touched down, scattering dirt and rocks. Shadow had landed a bit aways from the volcano. One, if it erupted it would not be harmed. Two, this was far enough away so Trent could come until it got too hot for him. Shadow pushed open his door, getting out of the helicopter. "Oh good, we're here." Rogue said, unbuckling and sliding open the side door to the copter. She jumped out, then stretched her arms and wings. She looked over at Shadow. "Why'd you land so far?" "The only way off this island is in a flying machine. If this gets covered in lava, that could be a bit difficult. And from here, Trent won't become sushi."

Kari unbuckled herself and got out of the copter. She stretched herself out and listened to what Shadow and Rouge were saying but she kept her eyes on the volcano. She looked at it slightly why there would be a thing they were looking for in a volcano.

Trent hopped out of the helicopter holding his bag and looked around at the land. He took a deep breath feeling relieved that Shadow decided to land farther away. "I hope i'm not being a pain but i sure appriciate it." he said to Shadow without looking at him. he ran his hands through his blue hair awkwardly after the sushi remark, but didn't say anything.

"I'll scout the area." Rogue said, "To see if there are any passageways into the volcano. While I'm at it, I'll see if I can locate that gem." She spread her wings and flapped them, getting air, then flew towards the volcano. Shadow nodded, crossing his arms. He leaned against the side of his helicopter. I better get paid good for this job, and all the remarks Rogue is giving me....I swear I've heard the term Lotus Gems....But where? Rogue soared around the volcano, looking for any stable ground and ways inside. She landed on a bridge-like rock. It crumbled beneath her, and she jumped into the air just in time as it collapsed entirely, falling to earth. "Phew, that was close." she mumbled to herself, then flew higher into the air.

Kari waited quietly and patiently for Rouge to come back. She didnt know what to do but she just stood there staring at the volcano as she waited. She listened closely to any sounds that are not supposed to be there.

Trent watched her fly off. He looked a little dazed as he started to daydream about saving her from a powerful enemy. When she went out of site he came back to himself, wondering if anyone had noticed him. she wouldn't be interested...in me he went back to being serious and focusing on the mission at hand. He walked around the helicopter scanning the landscape for anything suspicious. The sharp scales on his arms went up in defense when he heard rustling in bushes nearby. It was only a squirrel, and he relaxed.

Rogue landed again. This ground seemed stable. She looked ahead, seeing a passageway. She walked over to it, looking inside. It seemed like a tunnel. Rogue spread her wings again, and flew back to Shadow and the others. Shadow looked up at the sound of flapping wings, watching Rogue as she landed. "What's the report?" "Well, many of the platforms are unstable and dangerous. But I found one that seems okay, and it leads to a tunnel." Shadow nodded, thinking. Unstable....dangerous....Lotus Gems....Shadow's eyes widened slightly. "Has the government lost it's mind?!" he exclaimed, pushing himself off the helicopter. Rogue looked at him, confused. "Pardon?" "Lotus Gems. I just remembered what they are. Unstable, dangerous jewels." Rogue's eyes widened now. "I knew I heard of them somewhere! According to legend, Lotus Gems are ancient stones with great power! I think something happens when you collect five and bring them together, but I can't remember. The government must want to do something with their abilities. Hopefully, it's something good." "But what? What dream could they accomplish with only the gems?" "I don't know." Rogue thought for a moment. "Maybe they want to collect pretty things? I love doing it."

Kari looked at Shadow and Rouge. She thought about it and then looked at the volcano "Are we still going to go and get the gem?" she asked as she looked at the volcano. She didnt like the sound of these gems and how they could be dangerous.

"Somehow, I doubt the president loves pretty gems." Shadow said, then looked over at Kari. "Yes. We're finishing the mission." "But do we still give them to the government? They aren't exactly....well....Trustworthy, are they?" "Our duties come first, whether we like them or not." Rogue frowned. "It's all business with you, isn't it? I get a cool artifact, then get captured, and you're sent to help me. Then I try to show you it, and you tell me, 'My mission was to save you, nothing more.' Lighten up and have some fun in life, won't you?" "This isn't important right now. What we need to focus on is getting inside that volcano without getting covered in burning hot magma." "See? There you go again!"

Kari looked at Shadow and Rouge. She glared at them "Will you stop arguing for once and try to think of a plan to get the stupid gem!" she yelled at them. She looked at away. She hardly ever got angry and took it out on anyone. She looked at them again "Sorry for yelling at you" she said in a low voice. She turned and stared at the volcano once more. She was trying to think of a plan herself and she hated it when those two fight all the time anyways.

Shadow turned and started running. Because of his strange shoes, that turned into slight hover-skating. He jumped, pushing off one rock, onto another, and so on, towards the volcano. Rogue frowned. "He can't go alone." she admitted to herself, then looked back at Kari. "Coming?" She flapped her wings a bit, letting her stay a few feet off the ground, in one place.
