I've flown a million miles just to find a magic seed A white flower with the power to bring life to me You're so exotic my whole body fluttering Constantly craving for a taste of your sticky sweet
Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina bit her lip. A bit relieved that the flames were away from the top of her head. However, she still felt bad because she didn't want him to apologize. Nor was she upset with Ryul. "Don't apologise." She stated simply, wiping the sweat from her brow. "It was just the sudden heat made me realize how dehydrated I am..." And it was true. She hadn't had anything to drink in awhile, nor had she been in any water. Since she could feed herself like plants could, she needed to absorb water somehow. Either by drinking it, or absorbing it through osmosis.
"Really, I knew I wasn't in any danger..." She stated firmly and truthfully. Lina didn't want him to think that she thought he'd be careless with his abilities around her. "Plus, I don't think I'm good enough to deserve a halo..." She tried to tease to lighten the mood. On a gut instinct, she reached out and grabbed the hand he was looking at, the one that had just quenched the flames.
"Come on...I thought we were going to go swimming..." She said, looking up at him with a bright smile. If she had to, she'd drag him off the hill. She was set on getting to swim. Lina wasn't going to get discouraged easily. Always on the brink of a heart attack You gave me life and keep me coming back I see the sun rise in your eyes, your eyes We've got a future full of blue skies, blue skies

❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul sighed and put on a smile for her sake. Without letting go of her hand, he started walking down the hill opposite the way they came. "You're wrong you know," he said. She didn't think she deserved a halo. He had to disagree.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina let Ryul take the lead. After all, he had the idea of the swimming hole in his mind. Therefore, he knew where they were headed. Lina looked at all the plant life on the way. There were small flowers among the underbrush in the woods they walked through. Nothing much, a few wildflowers like larkspur and some snapdragons. Some moss hung from tree branches. All in all, it was a pretty scenery.
Lina heard his statement and did her best to refrain from blushing. She didn't need to blush at that. It might just be his way of saying she was a goody goody. Although she seriously doubted that. She refused to let herself jump to conclusions about what he had said. However, that didn't mean she would refrain from asking him anything.
"How so?" Were two simple words that might reveal a whole lot. Lina was curious to hear the answer. While she waited, her brain focused on the feel of his hand in hers. He was warm. It was probably due to his ability to handle fire so well. ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul gave her a warm smile. "You are one of the most gentle and kind people I know. You remember the first time you met Kowe right? That was a first. I have never seen that before," he said. He knew she'd remember. The first time the two had met, Kowe had gone right up to her with no hesitation. He hadn't even sniffed the hand that she offered. He'd licked it instead. He only licks Ryul's hands, and that's only when he has meat for him. After finishing the meat, Kowe would lick Ryul's hands to get the meat juices and blood off. Kowe had never shown Lina any signs of aggression. For anyone else who approached Ryul, Kowe would snarl until he was sure that they weren't going to attack either of them. Whenever Lina approached them, he didn't mind. He never growled or snarled or anything. Even when the two got into arguments, which had only happened a couple times, Kowe didn't do anything. Normally, if someone got into an argument with Ryul, Kowe would snap at them or growl at them to get them to back off, but with Lina, that never happened. "You're the only person that I know that can throw a punch at me without Kowe trying to take a chunk out of you," he said with a smile. They were about halfway to the small lake. Just a few more minutes and they'd be there.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina thought back to the day. It had been about four years ago. She had been seventeen, and on her way back home from checking out some crops on a friend's farm. Lina was enjoying the sunshine that day had to offer, for it had rained the past three days, nearly non stop. One moment she heard footfalls on the mucked up path, and a wolf, Kowe, was in front of her the next. Ryul had been calling out to the pup, for he was still a young wolf then, chasing him and trying to get him to come back, warning her to stay still.
However, Lina hadn't sensed any hostility from the animal. She instinctively offered her hand, palm side up, to the wolf. Almost immediately Kowe had begun to lick it. She laughed a little, taking her other hand and petting him on the head. Lina had looked up briefly to see Ryul's look of complete confusion and amazement. That made her realize that what had happened was not a normal occurance by any means.
Her mind drifted back to the present, and she laughed softly. "Probably because Kowe doesn't think I can do much damage..." She teased. Though it was true. She had punched him a few times before, but only in the gut, and because he was being, well, a buttmunch. Besides, it wasn't enough to truly hurt him. Lina hadn't heard a peep out of Kowe any of those times.
Before too long, Lina spotted a lake through the trees, as they were getting closer and the tree's were getting more sparse. After a few moments, they were out in the clearing around the lake. Always on the brink of a heart attack You gave me life and keep me coming back I see the sun rise in your eyes, your eyes We've got a future full of blue skies, blue skies

❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul laughed. He laced their fingers together as they walked. When they got to the clearing, he let out a small sigh of relief. He walked over to the rock where he always put his things while he was swimming. He let go of her hand and removed his bow and quiver of arrows. He pulled off his belt with his sword and laid them down on the rock. The rock itself was almost like a table. It had a flat top and was ideal for holding things. He pulled off his shirt and laid it over the weapons. He slid his pants off and laid them down over the shirt. The only thing he was wearing now were his boxers and a necklace that Lina had given him. He turned and smiled at Lina before running for the water and jumping in. He was normally calm and mature. He only ever showed his childish side around Lina. If it were anyone else he was here with, he wouldn't have run for the water. He'd have just stayed on the shore. Not to mention the fact that Lina was the only one he had taken here. He stayed underwater for several moments before resurfacing.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina couldn't stop herself from blushing as he laced their fingers together. Personally she hadn't been expecting that. Before she knew it, though, he had let her hand go after leading her to a rock. Odd, but after a moment she realized why. He was setting all of his things on it. Then, he began undressing. That was when she really blushed and turned around, facing the other direction.
While facing the other direction, Lina slid off her skirt, revealing the usual shorts that she wore underneath. It had just been a cautious habit of hers, for you never knew when you might need to climb a ladder in a skirt. It was a habit she found herself thankful for. She then took off her blouse, tank top underneath. Lina was a firm believer of multiple layers of clothing.
Once that was done, she laid her garments on the rock beside his, catching him smiling at her before he ran into the water. Lina couldn't help but laugh at him. Most wouldn't believe he had a side like this. That he could act immature. Lina was one who was lucky to see that side. After a moment, she slid off her flats and ran after him into the cool water. He was still under water when she got waist deep. When he resurfaced, Lina splashed him with some water before ducking under the surface herself. ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul laughed when she splashed him. He started wading further into the water while he waited for her to resurface. His hand went up to his necklace. The shirts that he usually wore hid his necklace. No one knew that he was almost always wearing it. He was hardly the type to wear necklaces, but he made an exception since this one had been given to him by one of the only people he really cared about. Around everyone else, he was always calm and mature. Lina was the only one he could truly be himself with. He was always cool and collected around others, but with Lina, he didn't have to worry about that. Together, they were kids at heart. He waited for her to resurface, getting ready to splash her like she'd done to him the second she came up. Right before she went under, he'd seen her tank top and shorts. He was used to seeing her in her skirts or dresses. He knew that she wore the shorts, but not the tank top. The shorts gave her an almost carefree look. He grinned, thinking she should go with the shorts more often, but knowing that she wouldn't. Ryul thought about how the way he was before he'd met Lina. He used to be cold, despite his affinity for fire. He had always been alone. He had a tendency to snap at someone just for coming to talk to him. He still had a bit of a short temper. He didn't like to be bothered when he was busy and was likely to throw a fireball at anyone who bothered him. The more time he spent with Lina, the calmer he got. While he was still likely to throw a fireball at those who bother him, he tended to feel bad about it later, when before, he didn't really care. Lina was changing him. He guessed that she didn't know the effect she had on him and he wasn't about to just tell her either.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina was relishing the feel of the cool water against her skin. It was quite refreshing. While she was still underwater, she made an attempt to swim over to where she had last seen Ryul. She was going to try and grab his ankle and trip him up. However, when she neared what she thought was the location of her friend, she couldn't hold her breath any longer and resurfaced. It was a bit frustrating to see that he had moved, but what did she expect.
"Hey, no fair..." She teased, readying herself for the splash she knew was coming. She didn't expect any less from him after she had splashed him earlier. Childish, yes, but fun anyways. However, before she could shield her eyes from the torrent of water, she spotted something. Ryul was wearing a necklace, and not just any necklace. It was a necklace she had made him out of hemp. Everything about the necklace was plant based. The hemp, and the wooden beads adorning it. She felt honored that he would still be wearing it.
"Hold on a minute...don't splash me just yet..." Lina half asked as she approached him. Her eyes were focused on the necklace, and she wasn't registering the fact that his torso was bare. When she was about two feet away from him, she stopped. "You're still wearing that old thing?" She stated, a bit shocked. She hadn't thought that when she had given it to him a few years back that he'd keep it on his person, let alone wear it.
To her surprise, she blushed. Not just because she was flattered, but also because she finally noticed his bare chest. Lina turned her head to the side to look at the water, hoping he didn't notice the flush to her cheeks. No matter how unlikely it would be. Always on the brink of a heart attack You gave me life and keep me coming back I see the sun rise in your eyes, your eyes We've got a future full of blue skies, blue skies

❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul stopped and straightened. His hand went to the necklace. He noticed her blush before she looked away. He wondered what she was blushing about. "Why wouldn't I?" he asked. Did she think he'd have just thrown it away? He was right when he assumed that she didn't know the effect she had on him. He always wore the necklace to remind him of Lina. With what he considered a bit of Lina on him, he tends to be more calm. Whenever the two can't be together, she's still keeping him in line. Before he could stop himself, he reached out and gently took her chin in his hand, turning her head to look at him again. Then he realized what he did and dropped his hand. He hesitated for a moment, then recovered. He put on a smile and splashed her.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina shrugged, not able to come with a real good answer for his question. Sure, she could have said because the hemp was itchy. Though that may have been true at one point, once you break the necklace in, it doesn't itch anymore. She could have said because she didn't think it was his thing, to wear necklaces. Yet there he was. Honestly, she could have spouted off more random excuses, but they wouldn't work. Only because he was wearing it now.
After a moment, Lina felt his hand on her chin, turning her head to face him. The blush remained, if not intensified on her cheeks. Especially since his hand lingered there for a moment. However, he dropped it, and after a moment of hesitation, he splashed her back. Lina ignored the sting of water in her eyes long enough to reach out and shove him with enough force that, if he wasn't expecting it, he just might stagger backwards, maybe more.
"Sheesh, you had to wait til I got closer, right?" She said teasingly, bringing a hand up to rub her eyes. At least it hadn't gone up her nose. That was always the worst. It would burn for what seemed like forever. Lina then ran that same hand through her hair, brushing her wet bangs from her face. "I thought you liked more of a challenge than that..." ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul hadn't expected her to push him. He staggered back. The water slowed down the movement of his legs enough for him to fall back. He went underwater for a moment before he moved his legs under him to stand him up again. When he looked at her, he saw her pushing her bangs out of her eyes. He looked away, not answering her. He ducked under the water again and started to swim out further. He stayed under as long as he could, trying to use the cool water to clear his mind. He hadn't before thought of Lina as any more than a friend, but just now, something changed in his thoughts. He tried not to think about it. He surfaced and floated on his back, looking at the sky. He could feel the necklace on his neck, further reminding him of the thoughts he wanted to get rid of. He sighed.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina was surprised to find out that she actually had shoved him hard enough to make him fall back in the water. She had been about to ask if he was alright once he resurfaced, but he began to swim out into the deeper water. Something Lina wasn't willing to do. She had this kind of phobia about deep water. Sure, as long as she could feel or see the bottom, she was fine. Once she couldn't touch any longer, and she couldn't see the bottom, she freaked out mentally. Even if the bottom was only five inches away. She didn't know that. She had no idea what was under her, and that was bad in her eyes.
So, instead of checking on him, for he seemed alright, or bugging him to answer her question, she headed over to a rock that was partially submerged in the water. It was a perfect place to perch while he pondered away. She sat down on the rock, laying back and closing her eyes. The sun warmed her skin from the effect the cool water had on it, and her feet rested lazily in the water. In all, it was relaxing. If she wasn't careful, she'd fall asleep and end up with a sunburn. Not that it wasn't something she couldn't remedy. She had aloe vera in her green house.
Absently, she wondered what Ryul was doing way out in the lake on his own. She knew he could get into bouts where he just had to head off on his own to think, so it didn't particularly bother her. After all, she had kind of interrupted his musings earlier upon the hill. Always on the brink of a heart attack You keep me alive and keep me coming back I see the sun rise in your eyes, your eyes We've got a future full of blue skies, blue skies

❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul was lost in his thoughts. He closed his eyes and just floated. He was drifting closer to the opposite shore that Lina was on unknowingly. His ears were under the water, so he didn't hear the claws skittering against the rocks above him. Kowe jumped off the rock near him and landed right on Ryul's stomach. Ryul was thrown underwater as Kowe paddled for the opposite shore, back to Lina. Ryul came up after a moment and coughed. He'd swallowed a bit of water from the sudden, unexpected attack. He coughed up the water and noticed that his nose stung. Water up the nose. "Damn it Kowe!" he yelled at the wolf as the wolf made it to the shore. The wolf shook out his wet fur and padded over to the grass and lay down. Ryul sighed and swam back to where Lina was. "Don't fall asleep. You don't want a sunburn," he said with a slight smirk.

.:Mit:. Steamer Mit watched as Jack ran back inside the laboratory to retrieve... whatever it was that he needed to get. She would have asked him again what was happening, but she barely had time to say anything before she was ordered to cover her ears. She did so, unconsciously closing her eyes as well until Jack had finished what he was doing. She wondered exactly why they needed bought time for anything... maybe it was that crazy professor again... Her eyes bulged. Maybe she was right and he really was one of those crazies! Her heart began to pound as Jack told her to run. She nodded once, slinging her gun onto her back and dashing after him. "Jaaaaaack!" she protested loudly as they bolted from the house. "What is going on??" She bit her tongue when she realized that they were in a public place... too high a risk of trackers. Those damn robots were everywhere nowadays, no doubt emplyed by her father and mother... Mit was forced to follow Jack through the dense crowd, barely able to see anything because of her height... or lack thereof, not to mention the fact that her gun was beginning to weigh on her back... she would have to set it down soon or risk another spine fracture. She gritted her teeth, hoping that Jack's 'place' wasn't too far away...
~ Who am I? I can't decide which way to run... ~
