It was nice to be surrounded by company such as theirs, the large Natalia swiveling her head to and fro with a goofy grin plastered to her lips. But as their numbers swelled, and so did her excitement, she could not help but keep her eyes on the forest lining. Must be careful, were the thoughts that chimed constantly in her head. Must stay alert. Must protect troop.

It was in her nature to, in one way or another, play the role of the white knight. Consequently, it would not be out of the ordinary for the were-lemur to linger at the caboose of the human train, weight always shifted to make for an easy sprint. Her claws dove into snow and crunched heavily with each step. Those who made the assumption that the largest target would inevitably be the first one to go were usually right--get rid of the boss before you take on its minions.

But...the tree had other plans.

And there was nothing Natalia could do about it. If she consciously knew to bite her nails in nervousness she would have, but growling and screeching seemed to suffice...

"Rip 'em! Rip 'em good!" Her heavy accent made her...less than comprehensible.

"We will wait," Laiha said, nodding to Xi, "When there is more need. It won't do to waste healing power. What if we get there first and Sandy Claws is the one to attack us?"

Clearly he was a horrible beast capable of doing terrible damage, and wouldn't spare the children. She offered a hand up to Liannan then. Ah, for her natural form. What she wouldn't give to have her tail back! Some seemed to be lost in other physical stages, but she hadn't changed.

And just as she had started to get really anxious...the battle was over and the victor, one of the students (thankfully) stood strong.

What had she been doing throughout the fight, day-dreaming? What kind of protector was she? In silence, the were-lemur sulked.

Sepheran nodded in agreement. "I agree, save it, I only got a little scratch better save it for when we really need to use it," the basilisk stated as he moved back towards the group present in hand and left the tree fallen where it laid. "I appreciate the thought though," Sepheran added giving a gentle smile which contrasted so sharply to when he had been attacking the tree.

Xi turned to Natalia and could sense her sadness, even with her in her beast form. "It's alright, Natalia... you can help out on the next one, alright? Don't be distressed, you're plenty of useful to us! Besides, your company enough is helpful, since none of us would want to be alone and with you around, we all feel safe!" Xi gave her a broad grin, trying to make her feel better.

Xi, the one she had not yet familiarized herself with, showed kindness were-Natalia was not use to seeing...and it touched her large heart.

Taking advantage of his generosity in such a 'compliment', as she would come to call it, Natalia meanders toward him and in a hushed tone replies, "Thank you." Offering a warm smile...

That turns into a warm shoulder pat...

Which turns into a warm embrace. Or an attempt at one. Spreading her arms out wide, the monster closes in on Xi, a low thrumming indicating her contentment. Lucky for him, if he didn't manage to get away, the girl knew her own strength.

Didn't take long for the tree... Thing to die off. That was pretty quick actually. At least it wasn't anything too serious. Sepheran and the others seemed to be in good health, which meant they could spare the use of healing items. Something which he was darned sure they'd be needing further down the road.

"Hey guys." He called; returning the undead boy's wave. "Looks like I just missed the first bit of action after arriving in this place, huh?"

As the big were-Natalia took Xi into her arms, Xi braced slightly expecting a large bone crunching hug. He was surprised though that nothing was broken and Natalia didn't hug him too hard, much to his relief. He reached up an arm to pat Natalia's large shoulder, "Y-You're welcome, Natalia...! " he chuckled nervously as he attempted to give her a hug back before he slowly managed to slip out of her grasp. "Well, I'm sure there will be a lot more, trust me. I bet that was nothing compared to what we will encounter later." Xi said, answering Tybalt's question before addressing the entire group, "We should probably continue moving now..."

"If you could call it as such," Haku intoned after Tybalt, having stepped back with a disgusted frown at the appearance of the ungodly-happy tree. Was this Sandy Claws' idea of a joke? "Good job nonetheless, Sepheran, barely even a mark on you. We should keep moving, guys, just in case there's more like them," he added as Xi and Natalia had some sort of touching moment.

For a moment he imagined himself being hugged by one of those tree creatures and shuddered. Branches.

He noted there was still a lone boy sulking at the fringe of the group, though he hadn't said a word other than looking downcast. Hopefully he would be of some use and wouldn't just sulk.

"I like Nefertari and Laiha's suggestion on the mountain path. Off we go then?" He clutched at his bell, wishing not for the first time that it was an axe or something.

That felt...

AWESOME. She would have to do that again some time, when more pressing matters were not at hand of course. Leaning into his touch before leaning out again and shaking off the snow from her feet, the girl sighed.

"Right." retoring this with a swift bob her head, Natalia took notice of the not-so-new comer within the same moment and hissed. Strange things happened in this forest, none could be too careful...

But...he, like the others, was familiar. The ghost seemed to know the rest of the gang, and…the monster had an obscure memory that involved his…what, face? Maybe. Thusly he was more than welcomed.

"You did miss. It was short, real short. Come, stay close to group. Do not get lost. Not on my watch."

Edit: The mountains? More cold? Natalia was not all too keen on the route they seemed to decide upon...but she also did not particularly like the other path either. So long as they made it to Christmas town with no severe injuries, the monster would not care in the end thus her input was but another not in Haku's direction.

Sepheran nodded lightly, "I think moving is a good idea...who knows how many more of those things are crawling around looking to gang up on us or something..." Sepheran commented shivering slightly at the thought. One was bad enough...just what where the teachers thinking bringing them to such a horrid place as this? It was a nightmare, pure torture. Sepheran could only hope they would all survive in the end.

Laiha peered at the map that had been procured and nodded. They would head north and up into the mountains, and pray they could find their way through. She had to wonder how large this forest was that they had sent the students into! How long would they be traveling through these living trees?

Taking the mountains was fine with him, since Xi wasn't able to feel as cold as everyone else and they would probably cover more ground that way. Though he was quite convinced it would be a lot more dangerous, since mountains had ledges... and ledges meant more of a chance of falling. He wasn't looking forward to falling at all. As Laiha was looking down at the map, Xi had taken the incentive to start walking first although it wasn't that smart of a move on his part. Partially a way down the path, he turned back to the rest of the group and called back, "Are you all coming?" If Xi had known that this was what the teachers at Amityville made their students do, he would have never enrolled. Xi noted that one of the boys in the group was sulking as well and staggering slowly behind the group, a little monster boy with greenish blue hair and a long lizard tail. Hopefully he wouldn't fall behind, Xi definitely didn't want anyone in the group dying anytime soon.

J.P look around and try to find out what going on! " Hey anyone out there! J.P. Want to know" He said as he howl. He look around and saw the boil that use him as a pillow. "Hey there! You know what going on?" He said with a smile..

Tybalt shrugged. "Ah well." He was kind of surprised. Some of these students seemed very disappointed that what they had run into was no more than some trivial tree. He thought they'd be more thankful that they didn't encounter something more dangerous/friendly and thankful for the fact that they had their skin in tact. Weirdos.

"I'm fine with any direction. So long as we keep moving that is." He said; scratching at his cheek. He didn't want to stay in one place for too long. Who knew what else may be lurking and he doubted that they were all trees. Besides, if any other trees appeared, there were quite a few in their group already. Surely they stood a good chance against them. Right?

"Anyone know where G is?" He asked. Though he was pretty sure the big guy would catch up sooner or later. Probably with a few other students tagging along as well. But what if he got lost...?
