"If you don't shut up, I'll get out the duct tape."

►► Hazel slung one of the backpacks over her shoulder and, judging by the weight, she guessed there would be something they could use in it. She followed close behind Jamie, before stopping dead at the sight of a new guy. At first, she had guess he was another of those vermin, but she dismissed that thought as she got a better look at him. She studied the guy warily for a moment, before relaxing her tensed muscles. Her head turned at the sound of Jamie's voice, and she listened, albiet distantly. She nodded at her instructions, turning her head to Corey. "That okay with you?"

Ewan Sheilds
In formation

Already adopting the leader position recently vecated by Dave, Ewan was running the best way to do this through his head. They would be here in less than a minute and no one wanted to be there when they did. "Corey, You're up front with me. Jamie, Pipe guy, you two keep the back safe. Hazel, Becca and....Other guy. Keep in the middle and try not to get eaten. We leave now." Hoping that the others would follow, he took off at a run down the corridor towards the fire stairs.

WEEWOOWEEWOO... fml...

"Fine by me... If we get split up meet at the bus garage. But that's unlike ly." He said following Ewan down the empty and slightly dusty staircase, you could tell it was really only used for emergencies. Stopping at the bottom with Ewan, Corey braced himself to open the door, they had no Idea what was on the other side, the solid fire door lacked windows, so this would be frantic...
"We Ready?" Corey asked to the group that were collecting behind him.
"Three... Two... One... Go." He whispered, making sure everyone was ready for their rush. But on opening the door Corey discovered something they had forgotten, something that could be their end. The door was alarmed...
The piercing beeps and wails that filled the school couldn't be helpful, all it could do is alert any things in the area that something was happening here.
"Ah s**t!! RUN!!" Was all he could shout fast enough as he took off across the grounds, dodging the reaching grasps of various moving bodies and beating back the more direct attempts to nibble at his neck. The garage wasn't far, it was only the other side of the grounds but the open area was far from safe...

Jamie Richardson

Jamie smiled slightly as Ewan blazed over her suggestion and made an almost identical plan, save one thing: As far as Jamie had seen it, Hazel did a touch more in that fight than Ewan, so he was far more in the try-not-to-get-eaten category.

Whatever, really. If he was going to be the fearless leader who didn't listen to a word others were saying, he wouldn't hear words like "DUCK" and "ZOMBIE ON THE LEFT." Hopefully he got it together before he got himself killed. On the other hand, there was something to be said for guts. They needed a lot of it now.

She was where she wanted to be, covering the rear. She followed them down the dusty stairwell, keeping her eye out for trouble on the way down. They found none until the door was pushed open. Alarm. Swell.

Then they were running. One stab told her that in a situation like this, a bludgeoning weapon would have been much better. So she started swinging the broom just to beat them back while running as fast as she could through the crowd of hungry creatures.

Becca Friedrich

For the most part, Becca hadn't been paying much attention to Jamie. Probably because the issue of getting out alive was a bit closer to the forefront of her thoughts, though it might have also been about how intimidating she found the older girl to be. No, it wasn't just the piercings and scars, nor the unusual apparel. She just seemed like someone that could seriously 'mess you up' if provoked, if the bloody splatterings that used to be a head were any indication.

"P-possibly...I mean, if I really had to.." Becca responded, absentmindedly pushing her glasses back up to the bridge of her nose.

She had nodded in silent agreement to the plans that were first put forth by Jamie, and again by Ewan. No matter what any of them came up with, as long as it would get them out alive, she’d go along with it. Descending the forgotten stairs two at a time kept her right on Corey and Ewan’s heels. Things became a lot trickier for their bunch when the shrill sirens were triggered upon the opening of the door. Not even those Things were dull enough to ignore it.

Now getting to the garage was more or less of a mad dash. Becca’s sprinting seemed more like a bounding motion, for she kept most of her weight on the balls of her feet. Mix that with her lack of height, she was able to jump and duck past most of the attempts on her life. But if just one were to get too close, she didn't know if her now usless-looking trowel would be enough.

Allen Spencer

Allen heard rather than saw the door open; the alarm’s high pitched shriek alerted their position to every one of them on the school grounds. Momentarily stunned by the din of alarms he didn't realize the sheer amount of them roaming the school yard. “JESUS FU**ING CHRIST HOW MANY ARE THERE?” he screamed barely audible over the incessant noise. Apparently the initial attempt to escape the grounds by the faculty and majority of the student population had ended in complete chaos; their actions had created a vast moat of flesh hungry creatures surrounding the school perimeter. Getting out would become a serious obstacle, but not so much as surviving right now.

Sprinitng at full speed he was guarding the rear of their group. Swinging his weapon, he smashed it into one of them, sending it toppling down into two others. “DIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!” he screeched as he continued to swing madly at the reaching arms and snapping heads. The two guys in front were doing a fantastic job slicing a path through the mass of oncoming bodies, however the real challenge was ensuring the lesser equipped members of the group didn't have more than they can handle. Despite that they were maintaining a good pace, getting out of the range of those they had knocked down before they could get back up.

Looking ahead he noted that they were fast approaching the bus garage, it looked like it was built back in the day. It was a stout brick and cement concoction, built more for practicality than aesthetic appeal. It would be a great place to regroup and revise the plan, easily defended and hard to penetrate. Whoever was thinking this was a genius. "Damn am I glad I stuck with you guys."

Lorne Martinez
Stupid, loud, annoying NOISE!

The school alarm. Oh how Lorne hated it so much right now. He always made it a point to move quickly away from them whenever a fire drill went off. How could he forget about something that he hated so much!? Chances are, Lorne was distracted by the more pleasantly low volumed noise of the hungry ones. What those groans meant, however, didn't sit to well with him.

Whenever a loud noise went off near him, Lorne would always react to it physically. This was usually displayed by jerking away from the source of the noise. This time was no different, despite the very different circumstances surrounding them. He jerked away from the alarm and raised his right hand to his ear. Lorne would have done the same with his left, but the weight of the Hockey stick was enough to remind what would happen if he just suddenly swung it towards his ear. To say the least, his partners wouldn't be too happy with him.

When they were running to the bus garage, there was one thing Lorne was glad about and one thing....not so much. Putting some distance between him and the NOISE was a good thing. Running through decaying corpses that wanted to eat you, well that's self explanatory. Since he was running, Lorne couldn't get a good swing at any of the hungry ones. Most of the time he shoved them away hard enough for them to at least stumble back. It was enough to give everyone enough breathing space and a chance to run past them.

When they finally made it to the garage, he was relieved and showed this with a sigh of relief.

Allen Spencer

Allen, being one of the last ones in, quickly slammed the garage door shut behind the group. They followed only meters behind. Their pounding on the metal garage door frame was frightening, but at least they were all safe inside the concrete walls of the bus garage. The two other garage doors and side entrance seemed to be locked, suggesting the bus drivers where in the process locking down for the school day right before the outbreak began. This was good, it meant that none of them where hiding in here…hopefully.

Turning around he realized he didn’t know most of the people in front of him, suddenly quite embarrassed about his predicament he stuttered, “Hey thanks for letting me tag along through all of that,” jerking his thumb to the field outside “I probably would have died out there. Names Allen by the way.” Nonchalantly he tossed his pack onto the floor he sat down. His body fatigues from the fighting and days events.

Ewan Sheilds
Well s**t.

Keeping to the front, Ewan led the group through the school to the emergency stairs. "Three... Two... One... Go." As Corey pushed the lever, Ewan put his shoulder into the door, bursting it open to the wailing alarm. Taken aback at the siren, Corey had already launched out the door before him. Moving out just as quick was Hazel, so Ewan launched out after them, batting several of Them out of the way as best he could while not getting too close to them. Once he had even slammed through a group of the to clear a path for the others when it was needed.

Hearing Allen slam the door shut behind him as they dove into the building, Ewan collapsed onto the floor with a shaking cramp in his legs and side. Moving to one of the cold, concrete walls to lean against took a large strain out of him, but get there he did and staying there till he could breath properly was all that he could do. I'm going to have to do something about my body. I knew I was out of shape, but not this bad. And now it's fix that or die.... or something like that. I'm gonna go at the back next time. "It's no problem... You'd have done the same....Mine's Ewan. Pleasure to meet you."

Aww ewww.... I got some on my shoes!

Watching as the rest filed in behind him, Corey made sure that the path was kept clear and that the garage was still unocupied. there was a few bloody smears on the walls, and deffinite evidence of a struggle but no sign of anything else.. No, wait. There was someone behind the bus, well if you could call what was left 'someone'.
"mess to try and cover it from view and obscure the smell.
"Right, don't go behind there... I'm corey, Corey Wilson. Well We all got here ok yeah? Bigger problem, we may be surrounded. I say may though cause theres a good chance the noise coming from the school is more attractive than the glimpse of us running. And if I'm right in saying I don't actually think these things can see... After all if they are actually 'dead' then their eyes would be the first to go yeah?" He thought aloud and sat on some old crates. If he was right then they should keep it in mind for distraction purpouses.

Becca Friedrich

Once the door had been closed, Becca put out her arm and leaned against the side of the bus to catch her breath. If only she'd ran like that in gym class! Then it wouldn't have been the only grade on her record to be lower than a B. Glancing at Allen, she managed to reply, "Name's Becca," between breaths. After about a minute, her heart rate slowed back down to normal, and she pushed herself off the bus. The longer it took her to recover, the weaker she seemed - at least that was what she thought. Indeed, she was smaller and weaker than the rest of them, but in this kind of crisis, appearing weak was the last thing she wanted.

"Actually, sight and hearing are both controlled by the smiliar parts of the brain, but since the occipital lobe controls most visual processing, and temporal lobe also plays a role in auditory sensing, there's a chance you could be right." Becca stated in response to Corey's words. "I'm more surprised that they still have control over their olfactory senses, for they show signs of having very limited frontal lobe activity. At least they should also have a severely decreased attention span from this as well." Oh crap. She had been using science jargon outside of the classroom again. Sheepishly, she adjusted her glasses once more - for they had slid down her nose again - before turning to look the other way out of both embarrassment and shyness. She expected at least half of them were going to give her weird looks and maybe a 'could you repeat that in english?'. That was what usually happened whenever she'd try talking to people.

Lorne Martinez
Just using some rarely used muscles, right?

Lorne was surprised that his stamina was as good as it was; while running certainly wasn't anything new, it had been a while since he had quit ROTC. The mile long run they did every PT test probably had something to do with that. His breathing was steady, and though he was a little winded for a few seconds it was obvious that he wasn't as out of breath as any of the others. He placed himself away from the entrance door and close to a wall, almost to the point of leaning on it.

After releasing the sigh of relief mentioned earlier he listened as the others introduced themselves and the comments that each had followed up after that. Ewan, Corey Wilson, and Becca. He'd have to be sure to remember all of their names. "..." Though they were introducing themselves, he didn't offer his name. In all honesty, he had thought that they had forgotten about him.

Corey's comment of them being surrounded was complemented nicely by the scratching and banging that came from the door, more noises that were getting annoying. Then when Becca went all techno-genius on them Lorne could say that he could understand what she said. Though he didn't know what part of the brain controlled what, and he didn't know what "occipital" meant, the meaning of it all as a whole was clear to him.

It was obvious that this Becca was a girl of very high intelligence, far more advanced than Lorne could be even if he did put effort into his school work.
From what he could tell Ewan and Corey were the "point" of the group. He couldn't say that they were the leaders; in all Lorne's experience there was usually only one "leader" in a group.

Jamie Richardson.

Jamie had been running next to Allen, but had fallen a little behind. Her heart was pounding in her throat as she watched the gap between her and the rest of the group inch by inch become wider.

She ignored the searing pain in her side and put on an extra burst of effort. It had been a long time since she had had an asthma outbreak, but if anything was going to trigger it, it would be a situation like this. Like she had cursed herself, she felt that familiar pain. Not now! she thought Oh God, not now! She just managed to slip through the door before it was slammed behind her.

Once inside she threw her back against a wall and slid down to the floor. Hands quivering she went through the packs she had picked up. The first had a few pencils and a digital camera, as well as a stack of notes to and from "Johnny baby". Other than that it was gum rappers, rubber bands and paper clips. Not a lot of use. The next was a jack pot, though it hardly phased her. There were several prescription meds, many of them prescribed to different names, and a few in plastic bags. There was a eighth of weed. The Amoxycillin was labeled to Jordon Renolds. She guessed that was who the bag belonged to, since it had no street value.

No inhaler. The last bag had nothing in it at all. She went back through the second bag. In one of the plastic bags were two small, round, blue pills that she was...almost...sure she recognized. As she continued to feel the seizing of her chest she saw no other option than to risk it. She set them up on the work table and used the first blunt object to crush them, then swept them into her hand and placed the powder under her tongue.

She focused on getting what air she could while waiting for the relaxants to, hopefully, kick in.

Five minutes of hell later she started to feel her muscles relax quite a bit, until finally, she was dizzy as hell but breathing normally.

Next on the list? Blunt weapon. Near the door was a spade shovel that looked like it was covered in mud or s**t or both. She grabbed it and drug it along. Then she went back to the work table and gathered all of the tools from the drawers and wall and shoved them into her formerly empty bag. She was looking around the garage and feeling more and more dizzy.

"Hey," she said stumbling up to Becca. "We..." she stared for a moment at the girl's shirt. She gestured around the room. "Gas cans. Gas..." she swung her arm to point at each of the buses in the garage. "Pull the batteries...and wires. Lots of wires. Wires," she started laughing. "Hose? We need hose. I don't think there is any hose." she gathered her bags and went around to the side of one of the buses, forced the door open and climbed in, slumping down in a seat near the middle.

Ewan Sheilds
Now what...

Listening to the complex explenation from Becca, Ewan screwed his eyebrows together as he played it through again. "Sooo...basicaly, They're blind, but can hear us inside here and may be able to smell us as well. Thankfully, they should get bored and wander off to die....again. Right?"

With a scrape and a clatter from across the room, Ewan grabbed his pole from beside him and pointed it at the source of noise, only to lower it when he realised it was Jamie. With a stumble she loped over to Becca and mumbled something about gas cans and wire. Was she hi.. She was high! Off all the times to get doped up, now was not the best oppertunity. As far as he was concerned, the only way things could be worse was if he was being eaten by one of Them. They were stuck in the garage with possibly hundreds of them surrounding the building and the one person that he expected to know their way round the place was stoned in the back of the minibus. "Right. Does anyone know how to drive? If not, then we might have just got outselves trapped."

Allen Spencer

Allen sat wondering how bad it was in the rest of the city. It had been almost 10 hours since the chaos started and although he couldn’t see it, he could imagine the devastation. The black trails of smoke that must be choking the skies, the terror of the people trapped within their own homes, them roaming the streets swarming unsuspected victims, the police spread far too thinly to repel their onslaught and in turn slowly falling themselves to join their ranks. Such a short amount of time, and yet so much suffering.

Brought back to earth by Jamie’s racket, Allen signaling Ewan with his hand and answered, “I’m pretty sure I can, these buses are stick shift right?” Grabbing his pack he got up from the floor and sat down in the driver seat and mentally pictured where everything was in his own car. Apart from some levers and buttons, everything else matched up to his Infiniti G35. “Alright” Allen announced, "I think I can get this can of bolts moving." Thinking top what Jamie had said before passing out, he got up and started rummaging through the garage. “We don’t know what we’ll meet out there; we better get some stuff just in case.” Finding a hose and bucket he began siphoning the gas from the other bus in the garage. “Someone grab the emergency box in the other bus, we might need it.”
