Nemesis had found the offer to be almost too good to resist. She knew Ares would want her to be good and let someone else take a turn, but if Nemesis turned Scylla down... well, it'd make her look like a coward. Nemesis was everything but that. Fortunately, Scylla decided against the idea, and Nemesis did not have to lose face by turning her down. "I appreciate the gesture, Scylla," but the tone of her voice indicated that she didn't think she needed to rest up in the least. "I'd rather watch Requiem and Birhan fight for now."
She had strolled back towards the ring, standing close to where Requiem was on the boxing ring. She favored the Senshi of Burial. The girl could actually do something if she put her mind to it. It was clear who Nemesis wanted to win, and if Requiem failed in this battle, well, she was going to pretend like she didn't know the girl for a good while.

Birhan shot Requiem a bright grin as she followed the other senshi into the ring. There was a touch of pride to her smile, Requiem already showing some backbone for something Birhan knew from their conversation would be freaking the brunette out. "Atta girl," she said quietly, not needing Ares or the others to pick up on the encouragement. Blood Moon was all about strength, but sometimes strength came from others, not just from within yourself. Birhan wasn't exactly sure what the other ISS's views on that were, so she kept her voice down.
Louder, so the others could hear, she said, "I'll take the one-hand handicap for this, okay? Do your best. Don't worry about pulling your hits. I won't go all-out on you, but I'm not gonna be soft, either - the point is to get you used to this."
Over her shoulder, she stared down Euterpe. "Like Ares said, no free pass for you. I'll take you on myself, if I have to, but I'm betting one of the others will be itching for a fight by the time Requiem and I are done." Scylla seemed up for a fight, though directed at Nemesis, and Birhan had also noticed a ribbon-clad Mercanary that she didn't know hanging around. Surely one of them would be up for a fight with Euterpe.
Birhan turned back to Requiem. She placed one hand behind her back. "First move is yours."

Requiem got into the stance that she was supposed to. That was the easy part. Everything else was the actual challenge. She took a few steps - more like tiny hops, not wanting to get out of the stance - closer to her opponent. She wasn't fast enough, she knew that. Surely her moves were predictable.
"Sor--," she stopped herself from apologizing as she gave her best attempt with a one-two punch.

"Relax," Birhan advised as she easily dodged the punches. "This isn't a test and you're not gonna fail or kicked out." Not from one fight, anyway, Birhan didn't think. Hopefully the ISS were on the same page that potential had to be beaten into showing nutured, it didn't just instantly transform into greatness.
"Battle's like a dance. You have to go with the flow, and improvise. Stiffening up is only gonna get you hurt."
Because Birhan was being so nice, she went for a strike to Requiem's upper body and not to her jaw. She even slowed it down some, so the girl could see it coming.

"I suck at dancing," she groaned. She knew a limited number of moves. The finger-wave from side to side, the head bob, and the awkward-body-shake. She couldn't even properly do the Cha Cha Slide, and that song has the directions in the lyrics! She did, however, listen to advice and relaxed some, and she was then able dodge Birhan's blows. "This isn't so bad."
Then again, nobody has been hit yet.
She gave another try at the one-two punch, aimed toward Birhan's shoulders.

Sailor Ares ignored the prodding from Nemesis, instead drinking at her water bottle like it was the only thing in the world that existed. The words from Scylla were nice, but Ares didn't want to make excuses. She watched the ice pack flop onto the ring. At first, she made no move to use it, but after a moment, she grabbed it and moved it to another table. No way would she actually put it on her face while Nemesis was in the vicinity.
Still, there was a smaller part of her that was thrilled to see how good Nemesis was. Even if there was bickering within the ranks, the Blood Moon Court was a very supportive force to their own... most of the time.
The senshi of smoke stayed near the edge of the ring, sliding around one corner to have a better look. "Come on, Requiem," she said. "Show us what you've got!" There was support in her voice, but also a challenge. The new sailor was still fresh, but Ares truly believed that she -- like Sirius and Euterpe -- were incredibly of amazing things. They just needed the right support system.
Good thing the BMC had found them, she thought.

Requiem's hit connected spot-on. Just a shame there wasn't much power behind it. Still, that could be worked on.
"Nice hit!" she grinned at Requiem. "See? That wasn't so hard."
Time for Birhan to get a bit serious herself. Otherwise she'd end up with Ares yelling at her for goofing around. Boxing wasn't her forte (seriously, removing the option of kicking from a kickboxer?), but she was the experienced martial artist here. She should be able to beat Requiem down with both hands behind her back and her eyes closed. Though Ares and Nemesis were proof that the ring had some strange outcomes.
"Alright, let's get things moving!" With that cry, Birhan struck out at Requiem's chest.

Requiem would have likely had the wind knocked out of her if it weren't for Birhan's battle cry. That tipped her off that a big blow was coming, so Requiem didn't hesitate to take a big step back. "Nice shot!" She then took the step forward again, resuming her place and tried to release another blow - this time with more power, hopefully!

Birhan beamed a little as Requiem dodged. It was hard knowing who to cheer for here, she decided. On one hand, it'd be nice to be winning. But on the other, she was here to help Requiem, and it was wonderful to see the other girl getting the hang of things.
The Senshi of Burial was gaining more power, if not more accuracy. Dodging out of the way, Birhan quickly returned the swing, aimed for Requiem's side.

Requiem nearly toppled over as she was delivered a blow to the side of her gut, but saved herself even if with little grace. Stumbling over, she rebalanced herself. It was quite a heavy blow! She inhaled in slowly, and then exhaled out. Her system didn't seem to shut down, that was a good sign, at least! She was ready for more punching. She got back into the stance and took a quick step forward and delivered a fast one-two punch and jab with more speed and more hopefully power.

Birhan grunted as Requiem connected with a strong hit - two hits, even. "Oh. Nice," she gasped out, stumbling back a bit. She rotated her shoulder. Still workable, not the worst hit it had taken. But she couldn't help giving Requiem a bright grin anyway. If they weren't in the middle of a fight, she would have given a thumbs up to go with it.
"Time for me to get serious, then?" she asked brightly. One fist flew out to strike at Requiem's own shoulder.

Requiem was hit again - and on the shoulder, no less. Luckily, Birhan didn't hit the sensitive damaged shoulder. This shoulder was in fine health, and the punch didn't hurt so bad, at least not in comparison to the pain she was imagining if the other shoulder were hit!
"Is that all you've got?" she taunted. She wasn't entirely sure why she said that. She just knew that in some video games, the bad a** boss at the end of the level would say things like that in the middle of battles.
Requiem delivered another series of punches, now at Birhan's shoulders in return.

The new attitude Requiem was displaying got a laugh out of Birhan. Even as she evaded the punches, she was still chuckling. "Can't fault your guts," she told Requiem, shaking her head. It was good to see the other senshi gaining confidence. Her hits were less robotic and overly-thought-out than when the fight had started, too.
"You want more? All you had to do was ask!" Birhan gave a feral grin. Once again she had to force down the instinct to kick. She instead went for an uppercut to the stomach.

"OOF!"
That one surely knocked Requiem down to her feet, the wind straight out of her. She fell onto her a**, hard. She could hardly breathe for a few seconds, and held out one hand with her index finger stretched, as if to say 'give me a second' because she didn't have enough air to verbalize it. She finally got some breathing pattern established after another four or five seconds and she picked herself up, panting heavily.
After her fourth-and-a-half deep breath, she released more punches, hoping to catch Birhan off-guard.

Birhan was more than happy to wait for Requiem to get back on her feet. It was a training process, after all, not a smack down. When it took a bit longer than Birhan expected, she started to worry. Had she struck too hard? In too vulnerable a place?
Then Requiem was back up, breathing almost normally again and Birhan relaxed. A mistake, as the sudden hits from Requiem connected and had Birhan stumbling back out of range.
"Nice," Birhan coughed. She gave herself a shake and danced back in, one single fist striking out yet again.
