"Those were my thoughts too! Though I already know most everyone here. But that's alright, it's always fun to spend time with friends you already know, right?" Honestly there were only four people here she had never even caught a glimpse of before today, everyone else she knew either by having a class together or they were actually friends or something. Kasumi's compliment made her blush, smoothening out her kimono a bit and then folding her hands on her lap. "Thank you, Kasumi! You look very nice tonight too! Umm...well...my last partner wasn't really all that chatty. Didn't even speak a word." She frowned a little at that and lifted a hand to scratch at her cheek, glancing to her left to see who ended up with him next. Her hair wriggled a bit on top of her head, apparently She was getting tired of being kept up like this and wanted down, but Junko had pinned Her up too tightly for Her to free Herself. Oops! "I did meet Deacon before it all started though! He was nice. Though he did ask a peculiar question...am I here to make friends or for a fling? Er..." She knew what he meant, unfortunately. It wasn't something she thought about though! Junko blushed a little more and shook her head, dropping her hand back onto her lap and turning back to Kasumi. She'd missed the turmoil her friend was putting herself through, unfortunately.

"I hope that too. I wish I could talk to that girl there...ah...Belladonna?" Junko gestured to here, hoping she got her name right. She couldn't exactly see her nametag from here but she was pretty sure she got a glimpse of it before they were all seated. It was a shame the girl beside her wouldn't be moving to where they could talk together! It would just be incredibly rude for them to talk to each other instead of their partners, but she did love the girl's dress! Gah! So many compliments! She wasn't used to them still! "Thank you, Kasumi. It means a lot to hear that. I've been working on your kimono!" She had the fabric and the design finalized from her doodles she'd been working on the last time they were together, she just needed to start putting it all together. Oooh she hoped Kasumi would like it! She'd wished she could have had it ready for her now to wear tonight, or ready before to wear for the student elections...oh well, hindsight?

"Sin suggested I try doing that as well. But I'm not sure if I could pull that off. It'd..be nice though, I think..." She hummed quietly for a moment before trying to turn the conversation back to her friend. Couldn't just talk all about Junko! "So what about you? Have you met anyone~?"

Kasumi looked about the gathering and noted a few unfamiliar faces, but the ghost figured everyone would be rotated around at some point. Meeting others was the point of the whole gathering, wasn't it? Several people could potentially be new friends, and that was always a plus. "I'm sure some people are very nervous at events like this, you know? They might be here for the same reasons we are. Some people just may not be as... social as we are. Open and whatnot." She waved her hand about in gesture as she spoke. It was all very professional, especially since her election. The ghost had to remind herself that she could be at ease every once in a while, especially around one she trusted like Junko. She seemed to innocent, enough to question the classification of "monster". They had a great deal in common, including their culture, so Kasumi felt close to the young lady.

"Kind of a rude thing to ask, I think. Not everyone is interested in finding a fling at a social event. This is about dating, not about... things I won't talk about." Kasumi frowned ( :< ) and crossed her arms. Maybe this Deacon wasn't so good after all. When Junko mentioned her witch-friend Belladonna, Kasumi visibly brightened "Yes, that's Belladonna. Her fashion sense is just as good as yours, I think, just different. She's very nice. I think you'd like her, and I'm sure we'll all get to speak with everyone in the room eventually. You two can exchange design ideas! Who knows, perhaps you could start small, like a costume line or something, and work up from there? I'd love to help if you'd allow me to. I'll be making something very special for you as well, Miss Junko, in exchange for the kimono. I can never repay you enough."

Her gratitude really was unending when someone offered to make her clothing. She cursed her coming to Halloween with nothing but the hospital gown on her back, but was blessed in exchange with students and friends who didn't judge her for her apparent insanity. "I have an idea, so I'll drop it off by your room when I'm finished, if that's alright!" Oh, and she had another question! Kasumi blinked, glancing quickly over to Braum, feigning that she was looking instead at Belladonna. "No, I haven't met anyone with that implication, but... perhaps someday."

Junko nodded at Kasumi's words, relaxing a bit now that she was comfortable with her friend and leaning forward with her elbows on the table, one of her arms propping up her head with her chin resting in the palm of her hand. She felt better now; Kasumi was here! "That makes sense. I was nervous until I saw so many people here I know...but then I got nervous again when I was partnered with someone I don't know," And it was an awkward silence to say the least. Junko perked up again though. "But now I feel better again. Thank you, Kasumi~!" Every word was sincere, Kasumi really did make her feel better by sitting at her table even if it was just because this one had been to her right and so she had to anyway. She looked Deacon's way when the topic changed to him, nodding her head gently again. Junko hadn't been quite sure how to answer his question, but she did know one thing for sure...Deacon had fuzzy kitty ears and a big fluffy tail.

Both of which Junko wanted to pet.

She blushed a little at that thought, realizing just how creepy that sounded. She wanted to pet a student!? That was just...weird! "You're being a creeper, Junko." Came Her muffled voice, trying desperately to be heard under the pile of hair and failing dismally. Great, Junko really had her trapped. Damnit! Junko pretended to be blissfully unaware of Her speaking, glancing at Kasumi as she frowned and blushing even more.

"I...I do kind of want to...pet his ears though. He has really cute ears." Like a kitty! She wanted to touch them! Junko purposely left out wanting to pet his tail though. That she knew she'd get looks for, and Junko hated looks; they made her twitchy. But Kasumi knew Belladonna well! That was good! She smiled, her blush fading as she turned fully to her friend again. She'd like her? Yay! Belladonna looked very nice, and even Kasumi said she'd like her...and she really did dress very well! Exchange design ideas? Junko'd never done that before...she was almost intimidated by the idea; would her designs be good enough? "What? Oh, you don't have to do that, Kasumi! I'm more than happy to make a kimono for you, I can even make another one so you don't get stuck with wearing just one!" Even Junko made many for herself, but for Kasumi she'd happily make as many as she wanted. But it seemed Kasumi had made up her mind and was determined to give her something much like Lilura had. Junko smiled, blushing again and nodding. If she insisted.

"Alright. I'm not exactly used to being given things...eh heh...hmm?" Junko's gaze followed Kasumi's, flickering to Braum and Belladonna to her left. Oh? Was...something interesting about Braum? "Do you know Braum too?" She chirped, smiling brightly. Oooh, yay! More friends she had friends in common with! "I wish you the best of luck, Kasumi! As for me...I don't know...I haven't met anyone like that either. But right now I'd just be happy with friends, you know?" Friends first, relationships later!

Before Tess could share anything pertinent about herself (which, truthfully, she was wary to do) Calder had announced it was time to switch partners. She gave Deacon a small smile together with a wave before she headed for her next partner.

"Hi, I'm Tess," she introduced.

Braum had to quell the urge to simply latch onto Belladonna and not let go when he saw she was his next 'partner'. Giving a nod and taking Tahki's hand, kissing the knuckles in a polite, gentile manner, bidding her farewell as her next new partner came and took his place. Hesitantly, he eyed the seat across from Belladonna, his wings shifting a little before he sat down, steeling his nerve and bowing his head kindly to her.

"Miss Bell......what a surprise to see you here, I would've assumed you had more than enough suitors chasing after you, you're so social," he all but purred at her, crimson eyes booring into her with interest. Raising an eyebrow at her statement, he found himself questioning whether she'd WANTED to see him here or not. It had certainly sounded like it with her chipper statement about him coming. But he didn't want to jump the gun and look too far into the girl's words, just in case that was his tiny spark of optimism talking. Her statement about Calder's speech only illicited a small chuckle out of him and he leaned forward as she did, almost conspiratorily.

"Just between you and I, Miss Bell, the only people who get THAT lonely are the ones who are desperate. I assure you, I am no such thing. I came for the pleasure of finding a friend or two, though I wouldn't mind garnering a date from any number of the lovely ladies attending," he answered, his warm voice lowering as he subtlety hit on her. Mentally he cringed at himself.

'Wouldn't mind garnering a date'. He kicked himself. Who the hell spoke like that anymore? It was something his FATHER would've said to a pretty young woman. Though, he had to hand it to his dad, the man never had a shortage of lovely little things warming his bed and joining him for dinner.

Braum couldn't say he wasn't captivated by Belladonna though, and he had to force his eyes not to drop down to the ample cleavage she was showing off as she leaned forward. No. It wouldn't be right, seeing as the girl probably didn't realize she was doing it. He'd been smitten with her ever since meeting her at Movie night. Then they'd had classes together, and it had given him a better view of how unfailingly kind she was, though she WAS a little bit more chipper than he usually liked. Like honey with extra sugar sprinkled on top. At the thought, he bit his bottom lip to keep himself from going any further with the idea.

He was determined NOT to have Bell on his 'hit and run' list. No, he was sure there were other girls in the room that could be easily charmed into stroking his ego and satisfying him on the nights he DID get lonely. Bell was different. Her magic hummed around her, and sent mini shivers down his spine. He wanted that magic oh so badly, she was very much like demon catnip, at least for the raum. Leaning back into a more posture-perfect pose, his right knee crossing over his left leg while his hands rested on that knee, he raised an eyebrow with a challenging smile.

"Surely there's a reason YOU came, Miss Bell. I doubt you're one of those desperately lonely people, and you seem charming enough. Is there some deep dark secret about everyone's favorite little witch that's keeping the boys at bay?"
he purred teasingly, his voice rumbling with a warm timbre.

Tahki wasn't sure how to react when Braum kissed her knuckle. She'd never had any boil offer her such a gesture. Was this an invasion of space or was this him being polite? Tahki wasn't all that sure so she smiled politely and confused.

The gryphon timidly made her way over to her new partners table. The girl was missing legs which Tahki noticed but did not stare in fear of being rude. This new girl offered her name so Tahki thought it only polite to do the same even if it was on her name tag.

"Tahki Yuki. Its a pleasure to meet you, " She kept her voice down to a soft almost whisper. "I really admire your wings," The gryphon wasn't so shy around ghouls long as they weren't intimating and it was one on one. Tess seemed like she was alright. Still Tahki kept her shy safe guard up. Aka headphones.

Tess nodded to her latest "partner", the small smile that showed her fangs growing marginally bigger at the compliment of her wings. "Thank you! You have very nice ones as well, did you ever think of trying out for the Freakuent Flyers?" she asked, it never hurt to get word out about the club after all. Besides, she felt more at ease with ghouls than she did boils, mostly because her parents thought it wasn't proper for her to have socialized with boils who weren't family.

"And you look very familiar. Were you in the Battle of the Bands?" she added, tilting her head to the side in thought.

Harrow looked like a deer before a dragon: wide-eyed and somewhat flushed, he dropped down to sit opposite Hadiyya and tried to hide the clammy-palms. He had on his finest cravat -- a brilliant gold striped through with black -- and a pair of matching spats with buttons.

Looking around, however, he thought that he might have been a bit overdressed.

He cleared his throat, raising heavy eyebrows and fighting the urge to adjust his vest, tongue flicking out over his lips and voice sticking in his throat. "Um. Hum. Hah."

A pause, his eyes distant, and then he found the right word. "Hello."

When Calder had blown the whistle for a second time, Colette had politely excused herself, leaving the seat opposite Yaya vacant. It remained such for a quite a while. So long in fact that the demoness had turned about to search the room for someone wandering about, perhaps unable to find her due to her lack of name tag. In retrospect, she probably should have to taken the time to make one, but she'd been so insanely late it seemed more important to get to her first "date". She'd left them waiting far too long.

It was as she was turning back towards the table, a slight frown playing along dark lips, that someone dropped into the chair across from her. An instant lately a shiver traced it's way up the length of her spine, raising goosebumps along arms and legs. It widened brilliant blues, gaze lifting hurriedly to the boil, no reaper. She could -feel- his magic.

Momentarily stunned, the marid didn't so much as bat an eye lash as Harrow searched for an appropriate greeting. She was too busy admiring his fancy attire and charmingly handsome features to care over the stumbling of words before he offered her a hello.

The frown that'd sunk into a pretty pout was quick to fade, leaving in it's wake an odd little smile. Half charmed, half alluring. "Hello. You must be Harrow." Leaning forward, she rested an arm on the table top, the opposite hand stretched between them in greeting. Hopping for a shake, or perhaps even a kiss on the knuckles. Now that would be lovely.

"I'm Hadiyya, or Yaya if you prefer." She'd like to say she was nothing but polite, but the tinging of magic over hr skin turned her voice into cultured purr. "If only every boil took such care in their appearance."

It was only natural that Harrow be a bit flummoxed by her reply but -- she was probably used to a different kind of flummoxed. It was likely that she usually got a slow flush, an edge of embarrassment, maybe a flash of a grin or a teasing wink in reply. He should have been fawning, and maybe some part of him knew that, but it just wasn't how Harrow replied to these things.

Instead he blinked at her and finally gave into the urge; fidgeting to tug his cuffs straight and adjust the collar of his vest, another quick lick of his lips. Then he reached out to take her hand in his own cold-and-clammy awkward one -- unnaturally cold, really, there was an edge of something metallic to his grasp -- and give it one awkward, crooked little shake.

"Yaya is a peculiar name." Not an auspicious start. He blinked at her. "...not to say mine is...is normal or that it's...a bad thing..."

Fawning was not actually something Hadiyya was accustomed. In fact, she was usually the one doing the majority of the fawning. Personal boundaries were something of a foreign concept to the marid. She was touchy feely, clingy even, but in an a rather unobtrusive way. Of course, with a table between herself and her "dates" she was doing a wonderful job of behaving herself. It was only recently she'd found that not everyone was so very accepting of casual touch as some. What was a down right shame, as far as Hadiyya was concerned, but she would do her best to respect the wishes of others.

The handshake was curt, a little off. But with her hands naturally cool to the touch, she never noticed the chill of his own, though she did get a sense of.. something. She wasn't entirely sure what, but there was something there amongst the tingling of magic she received from his touch. Curious.

"It is a bit peculiar, isn't it?" She flashed him a smile. "My mother has called me that for as long as I can remember, I suppose it just stuck." She let her hand join it's partner on the table top, fingers knitting. "Not normal, perhaps. But unique, in a good way." My, he was nervous. Or something. If not nerves, then something she couldn't quite put her fingers on.

"So what brings you here to "Dash Dating?" It was a little straight to the point, but Yaya was a bluntly honest demon, and it wasn't called "dash" for nothing. The reaper intrigued her, as did Colette before him, but Harrow most assuredly -male-.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 07, 2010 12:02 pm

Male and clueless. He blinked at her, and then around the room, his head tilted and his eyes flashing over the crew. He'd sat out the last round and just watched, and wasn't sure how long they would have before they, too, would be cut off and sent along.

"Um." Obviously he hadn't really thought about it as dating. Of course it was dating, but there was something so inherently asexual about Harrow; he dressed nicely because it was proper, it seemed, not to attract. He held himself stiffly, distantly. He was not a natural flirt, and didn't seem terribly interested in trying.

"Well, I haven't really met many people." A pause, a breath, and then a quick shrug. "Many friendly people, that is. I thought people would be more... accommodating, here?"

There was a long beat and then, as if remembering himself, he turned it back on her. "You?"

Tahki blinked as the conversation quickly shifted to a club. The gryphoness paused before opening her mouth only to close it again as Tess brought up battle of the bands.

"Well .. I er.. I m no good at sports and well, " She stumbled through her thought process quite a bit. Though it wouldn't hurt to try would it. "I .. suppose I could give it a go... never thought about it..." Tahki chewed her lip some.

"Y-yeah! I.. sort of K-Oed my own team and the other team.. by mistake." A nervous 'heh' followed. "You were there too werent you? I - I mean in a band not in the audience."

She was beginning to get the impression that perhaps she was intimidating him, or making him uncomfortable. That was the last thing she wished to do, so she slipped her hands from the table top, leaning back to take on a posture that would make any proper demon proud. Less imposing, she hoped, though it wasn't easy retreating from all that delicious magic.

Her initial reaction to him had been quite forward, at least for Yaya. She wasn't generally so keen to entice, and once she'd thought about it, could make a conscious effort to control it. She was beginning to understand why Braum was so fond of Miss Bell.

Of course, now was not the time to be thinking of Dear Braum or her other friends. She placed her attention squarely on the reaper seated before her, and did her best to appear charming and polite while listening to his reasons for attending. "I'm sorry you're experiences with your fellow students have been so far disappointing." She could sympathize. She'd gotten on quite will with everyone she'd met so far save one hateful undead, but that single rude ghoul made Hadiyya terribly uncomfortable.

"My reasons are very similar, though thankfully I've not had your bad luck with our fellow students." She paused, chin tilting ever so slightly to the right. "I hope it's not too bold to say so, but I hope perhaps I can help make up for our peer's unkind behavior towards you?" Frankly, she couldn't imagine why the poor boy had had such a rough time finding friends. He was polite, well dressed, appeared to have decent manners. She might be a little biased though, what with the natural draw of his magic marching down her spine. She liked reapers, they acted like a battery for usually sleepy marid.

Since it would have been poor manners to say nothing but drool over the demon, Belladonna instead settled for a fine blush that seemed to insist upon making her cheeks their permanent home. A quick hand brushed aside some hair while quickly touching the one apple of her cheek and finding warmth there; a sure sign of a blush! What dreadful horror!! If it promised to stay, Belladonna would just have to ramp up the charm, acting the part she so surely felt of bashful girl before her dearest crush. And really, what was the use hiding it if Braum was here in all his demon glory? It was dash DATING after all.

“Suitors? Oh, hardly! I think most people are not so infatuated with the social part…” She meant about herself, but there were a number of students she had met that while perfectly fine people on their own, definitely were not going to attend as many of the events on campus as she. Trying her hardest to ignore his comment on garnering dates (dates! Plural! Gaahhh! It was almost too much to bear for the lovesick witch) she instead launched into talking of finding friends. “Yes! I would love to met a few new friends as well. I know a few people here already!” She quickly indicated Kasumi, Chuppi and Calder with a swift hand, “But the others I have not met. They all seem very nice and everyone is exceptionally well dressed! I am sure they are here to impress, of course but… Still… Its nice.”

No! Bad Belladonna! Stop rambling and spewing random words that wouldn’t bring you closer to this handsome man before you! Giving Braum a delicate smile that teetered on being unfortunate, she paused at his final question. Deep dark secret?! Oh Hecate, did he know she couldn’t cook worth two silver seeds?! Or that she feverishly stuffed pets into her closet? (And might have given a few to Chuppi?? Surely that was it, that had the be the worst secret of them all!) Perhaps he meant that she was not a very good reaper because she could sew and take care of plants, but not much else!?

“No dark secrets here!” She chirped back to him, laughing nervously. “I simply came to met others!” It might be time to drop a teeny, tiny hint as to the real reason she was here. After all, it wasn’t as though the demon could read her mind! “I was hoping to see you here… I rather like spending time with you!”

Loser, loser, LOSER!! Belladonna chided herself, her hands clamping onto each other in her lap. Why wasn’t Binx here to make fun of her so didn’t have to do it herself?! Surely Braum would shun her now, that sounded so desperate! It wasn’t fair that he was so handsome and so gentlemanly and yeah, he could be a bit rude toward other races, but that’s ok! Everyone had a small prejudice somewhere within them…
