Gimaeth growled, happy to have avoided the more aggressive dragons attacks on others. It wasn't unheard of, but it didn't mean he had to like it.
Excitingly, the chaos afforded him a chance to try and get closer, and he was more than happy to take advantage of it.

Capeth bugled in reply to Ianath's scream. He was here, not giving up, striving with everything he had yet! She had put on a burst of speed, but she could not maintain her pace forever.

The queen was tiring, and it looked as if things would soon be coming to an end. Tereth sped up just the slightest bit, but it seemed as if victory lied with either the bronze or brown pressing in now.

'Let one grab you my love, pick a favorite, it's not so bad a thing to be caught.' Inaari's voice was almost pleading, thick with the pounding desire through her body, the prickling over every inch of her skin that begged to brush against a strong body's. These were every desire she'd ever had compounded into one singing need that drove them both.
Ianath, however, was not so amicable. NO! They haven't caught me yet, and I will not make it easy for them! Lust and anger were intricately wound around a dragon's mind, it was easy to be savage when all of your higher brain function had been given over to driving need. To mate, to bleed, to simply be the animal inside the genetic manipulation that had led them to this form.
Closer and closer, none had caught her, but one would. Which one?

She was so close.
She was so close.
He had to try harder, he had to try just a little bit harder, to go just a little bit faster, or to tangle her in his wings, or something. He did not know which it would be, but he could do it. He could do it! Blood racing in his veins, Galvanth closed in on the Gold, doing his best to lose the Brown, and to catch the Queen. He was a Benden Bronze, and this could be his finest hour! Let it come. Let it come. Let it come!

Closer.. he must get closer, if he didn't catch her soon he too would tire too much, his wing muscles already feeling the burn of the chase, his breath becoming more laboured as he forced his body to fly after her. He roared his frustration, the Bronze.. the one who had been neck and neck with him .. he had caught her.... his spirits flagging he winged his way down... away from the pair, furious with himself.

...Well that wasn't entirely unexpected. Giving a deep 'hrumph', Brumath carefully peeled away from the massive knot of other disappointed males. It was hardly surprising that a young strong bronze had won out in the end, he wondered why he had even tried in the first place. A waste of energy, a waste of time, just to be like any lust-maddened male, to put aside all reason just for a female. So foolish, yet so sweet, so tempting, so elating while the chase lasted... But then, it was over, and she flew with another male.
"Well, at least it was good exercise for you," F'itz managed as he abruptly became aware of his surroundings, "and you made a good showing, as good as many a bronze, so don't feel too bad."
"I do not feel bad, nor sad, nor shocked. It was not to be, never to be for Brumath. So is the world, the bronzes forever ahead... I will go on for a fly. A long slow fly, clear the mind, and to let you be in peace?" Giving a deep, almost amused rumble, the brown turned away from the Weyr, gliding towards the sea. "A lovely lady, somewhere in the Weyr?" he added in somewhat teasing tones.
"...Yes, I think so," F'itz blinked and shook himself, just about mustering enough self control to turn and walk sedately away from the young gold rider and her victorious suitor. There were plenty of women in the Weyr... but were there any that would welcome a Benden rider to their bed? Come to that, with so many men disappointed today, if he wasn't quick he'd get nothing at all, and that was the last thing he needed. Clinging to his dignified composure like a drowning man to a friendly dolphin, F'itz strode off towards the lower caverns. He was going to find a woman tonight if it was the last thing he ever did.

They were close, but in the end it was the one with the greatest fury that responded to Ianath's refusal to submit. The suggestion by her rider had imbued the gold with a final burst of speed, but unfortunately, she spun to the wrong side - right, instead of left. Right into the waiting clutches of Galvanth, who had swiped his way to the forefront of the pack with the unwavering determination to catch the shining queen.
She screamed fiercely as the bronze wrapped around her, Inaari's voice raising in triumph that finally it was over! Galvanth dove with her towards the ground, wings and tails tangling until he pulled her out and the pair headed straight for the weyrs.
With any luck, the fact that a Benden bronze caught a Malvren gold would result in a rather magnificent clutch that both Weyrs could be proud of!

Cavenath had watched his beautiful Ianath's flight, every inch of his massive, gleaming body stretched taut; he was flying with her, in his heart. When Galvanth caught his beloved Sun, he bugled triumph all across the Weyr, a clarion call to match the screams of the caught queen. All would know: Ianath had risen, Ianath had been caught.
Mine, Galvanth caught Ianath! They flew very well.' All that Cavenath wasn't saying, was to remind his rider that his weyrmate was going to have Galvanth's rider in her bed, S'raid.
He turned, walking with head high and tail snaking behind him, returning to his rider, who needed him now. Ianath did not.
(OOC: WOW that was crazy intense! thank you all and benden x malvren? biggrin Score for diplomatic awesome. )
