The hairs on the back of his neck prickling with repressed desire, he shrugged her statement away. "Forgiven. Even though I'm not a complete stranger anymore. Just a somewhat stranger." He smirked, splitting metaphorical hairs, figuring his request had simply been ignored.

The sudden movement and cloak removal had him confused. As it was placed around his shoulders, he was too stunned to even flinch away from her quick movements. She could have been about to strangle him and he was just staring at her face. He should have declined or pushed the cloak off, but it still contained her body warmth. Still dazed, he took a light sniff, and then a deeper one. Underneath the smell Tessa had warned him of... it was... pleasant. Shouldn't it have smelled like death and gloom? Shouldn't it have been cold? Would have made it easier...

".........Thanks." He said in a tone just short of containing warmth. She still planned to kill him, but didn't want him to suffer along the way? As confused as he was... he appreciated the gesture, made easier by the condition of the cloak.

She shouldn't have cared. Sympathy wasn't something that she normally showed one of her marks. It shouldn't have bothered her that much that his skin was chilled, but it did. "Your welcome." Without looking up at him, she moved to the other side of the boat and unhitched the boat. With a well aimed shove, she cast off.

Quintessa rubbed her arms together, pushing the dragon on her chest into flight. "So...You didn't put up much of a fight when we got in this boat. Does that mean you've finally realized your wrong doing or do you just really want to get away from home that badly?"

Watching the docks get further and further away, he thought a moment before answering vaguely. "It's easier this way. For both of us I suppose." He shook his head. "I'd happily go on home, but that's not happening with you chained to me like this." He paused another moment before sighing heavily. "And you know? This might be a bit more tolerable if you'd tell me why I have a target on my chest. Fine, I'm no angel, but seriously? Death?" He pressed his lips together and turned to watch the docks in a huff again.

Quintessa gave him a droll stare before rolling her eyes and looking out over the water. "Your a devil," she murmured, unintentionally bringing her personal demons out to play. "Since your being semi-cooperative, I guess I can tell you." She drummed her fingers against her bicep, pondering over what information to feed if. If she told a lie, and told it well, he wouldn't be able to catch on. But lies were sour and left a bad taste in her gut, so she opted out.

"You pissed off the wrong person and we were hired to kill you. Normally, the Order wouldn't dabble in something so pety, but for the gold that was offered..." she shrugged. "Who would say no?"

A small smile twitched at the corner of his mouth. "Devil. You think so?" His ears flicked impatiently as he waited for her to reveal the secret, then went flat again as she spoke.

"That's not very specific." He grumbled. Meanwhile, despite the frustration, the gears in his head were spinning. Someone with gold, or knew how to get his hands on gold. Something pety to get so angry over, but worth it in that one's eyes to spend gold on getting killed. "If I'm able to guess who it is, would you be able to confirm it?"

Quintessa stretched out on her back with her human arms draped over the sides of the boat, paws flipped over themselves in the air. She was tired, aggrivated, and hungry, but like hell she was going to complain.

"Sorry." She shrugged, then listened to his proposition. "What the hell; go for it. I'm feeling lucky." She said sarcastically, leaning her head back so that her hair trailed in the water. "You've found the loophole, so you might as well exploit it for what its worth before you die."

Having expected her to say no, it took a moment for his mental gears to sync with his mouth again. "Alright then... I guess I'll start with the basics." He couldn't help but to glance over Quintessa's curves as she stretched herself along the boat. In order to think properly, he had to focus on making himself comfortable, curling his legs underneath and leaning against the edge of the boat.

"So... was it because of money? Or a woman?" Not like he actively had his way with anyone else's money or women, but if someone even suspected him of it, he could see some idiot getting huffy about it.

As the edge of the boat popped her back, Quitessa let out a moan and pushed her chest to the sky. She'd really needed that. Her stumpy tail flipped underneath her, slapping up agaisnst the planks.

"A woman. I've personally only met with the client once, but he was tore up about his lady love." The assasin yawned and closed her eyes, content with being comfortable for the first time in a week. "Next."

That damn woman! Was she doing that on purpose?! He turned determinedly away from the cattaur and her bosom.

So, it was about a woman. Well, damn it all! The last woman he'd had a night with was months ago! His face warmed at the thought and moved on. "So, he thinks I either have tried or am trying to steal his woman?"

Quintessa rolled her head to the side and reached up to untie her hair. It came out in waves, some of the wet strands falling over her shoulder.

"You got it. Tell me, do you usually do that? Isn't it enough to get a woman on your own instead of trying to steal someone elses?" She propped her head on her hand and grinned.

Gabriel's mouth dropped open, closed, and then opened again, his face burning red. "I wouldn't steal a woman! That's just- just- stupid!" Glaring at the bottom of the boat with nearly enough intensity to burn a hole through it, he put his free hand to his forehead. He had to think. Who had he been giving his attention to lately? Or... was it...

His head snapped up quickly, his eyes desperate to hear her tell him he was wrong. "The guy you met, did he have a shaved head and yellow fur?"

Quintessa put her hand over her mouth, but couldn't stop her giggling. She took a deep breath of ocean air to clear her head. This wasn't the time for casual chatter, and she always had a hard time following plots.

She leaned forward, suddenly on edge because of the look on his face. She unconciously flexed her claws into the wood. "I take it you've met him, then?"

Staring a moment to let the revelation sink in, his already pink face flushed through a few more shades. Lifting his hand, he impulsively slammed it onto the small shelf next to him, putting a good crack in it. Followed by a string of colorful words, he put his face back into his hand.

"I don't even like her!" He spouted, the story coming out in random order. "He's never liked me, and I've never liked him. A mutual agreement you could say. His girlfriend is a complete snob who cheats, but he thinks she's some prized pony and refuses to dump her, like she's his property." He snorted a sour laugh. "She didn't even give me any attention until I kicked his a** a few weeks ago for insulting my family. She's been following me around since then!" Another laugh slipped out. "He's a punk and a moron, impulsive, thick-skulled and heavy-fisted. Probably too scared to fight me like he usually does other males who catch her attention. I don't hate many taur, but him I can make the exception. Especially now that...."

Stopping his story, he glanced over at Quintessa, quickly looked out to sea again and slumped down into the boat, picking at the shelf he had cracked. "...I hope replacing this shelf won't be too expensive." He grumbled.

Jumping back out of impulse, she brought her spear up in defense. Slowly, she brought it down, her ears flipping back around to the front of her head. She was trying not to be sympathetic, but it was hard not to when he'd been so thoroughly jipped.

"Damn." She whistled, unconsciously scooting closer. Quintessa sighed and placed her hand ontop of his, slipping the shelf out of his hands and sitting it at her side. "Stop. The shelf is the least of your problems. Gabriel, do you realize what this means?" She raked a hand through her hair. "This means your innocent. He's just some lumoux with power hungry wench, and your...your innocent."

Quintessa slumped back and placed her hand over the dragon tattoo on her breast. What the hell was she doing? The Order may have been violent assasins, but even they had their morals. Innocent blood was never to be spilled and because of her ignorance she'd almost... "If this story has weight, then you can be spared and he'll be charged. You won't have to die and I..." Quintessa rubbed her throat and gulped.

Only half paying attention to her words, he grumbled a bit more about the shelf before his head popped back up. "You... you believe me?" His hands came up in defense. "I mean, I'm not lying, and you're right, he is a lumoux, but... he's a very rich lumoux. I swear, the next time I see that guy-" He let the end of that hang in the air. Threatening here and now wouldn't do any good.

"So... you think we can get enough proof to save my neck?" He knew he was right, and he knew that if needed, he had friends who would come to his defense, but the girlfriend would never admit to anything. It was almost too much to hope that this cattaur, who seemed to until now have been determined to bury him, and the order that she stood for would be willing to hear and believe his side of the story.

Realizing how they both sat slumped down in the boat as if to hide from the world, he cracked a small smile to himself. Yeah, there might be hope yet for her actually possessing a soul.
