"Probably," Earendil agreed. He gazed at her for a moment, his expression thoughtful.
"It's funny," he murmured. "Usually it's when you're here that everything happens ... but it seems that for once, so much was happening while you were gone."

Lin laughed at that, it was true but she was glad she wasn't the cause of it this time, "Well there was a lot of loose ends when I left for you to tie up. I mean, on one sense when one thinks about it, it's not that surprising Celeb would ask again once he became an adult."
Celeb was still one of those people who dove in head first, she wasn't sure how she felt about it, but she was happy for Celeb.
"The meeting of Luk is kind of like dropping a proverbial bomb as the Gaian saying goes. There is no proper way to explain the shock that must have gone on, and Aethos... well Aethos needed to get away from home and discover himself. You were there from beginning to end."

Earendil chuckled softly. "I suppose that's true," he smiled. "It was all expected, it just happened while you were gone."
He looked as if he were about to say something else, but then he seemed to think better of it and simply smiled instead and said, "Which reminds me. I have something for you, up at the house."

"A surprise?" Lin tilted her head curious as to what Earendil had planned.
She couldn't think of any reason why he would give herself, besides the fact he probably wanted to which was humbling.
Miyuki looked between her mommy and ada nearly bouncing on her seat, she wanted to say something about surprises but she might ruin ada's surprise if she did!

Earendil chuckled. "Don't go fishing for hints, because you're not getting any," he teased her. "You'll get it when you get it, and not a moment before."
He grinned and stood up suddenly, holding his free hand out to Lin. "Now, you can't sit here and talk with me for so long and not talk with Elros and Alena when they're sitting so near. Come and see them and the baby."

Lin pretended to pout a bit before taking Earendil's hand, "You tease."
She grinned at him before looking over to Miyuki who was actually pouting because she wanted to know, even if the surprise was for her mommy.
"Come on, let's go say hello to Elros and Alena, and see the baby."
The idea of seeing the baby perked Miyuki right up and she scrambled over so she could get a better look at the little baby.

Earendil chuckled and squeezed Lin's hand, then led her over to Elros and Alena.
The couple was sitting close together for warmth - the stables after all were not heated, and it was winter - and the baby was wrapped warmly in layers of clothes and blankets. She was wide awake at the moment, green eyes wide, and young though she was her fiery hair was thick and already so long it was almost in her eyes.
"Hello, Lin," Elros greeted her with a warm smile. "It's nice seeing you in this area again, it's been a long time."

"So it has," Lin murmured, "It's good to see you both again."
She couldn't help but wonder how long it had been since she had left the Four Lands.
Miyuki carefully sat as close to the couple as she could without disturbing the baby. She learned from Rhea, that babies needed nice quiet time, so she was going to try and be calm. It was obviously hard by the rate her tails were twitching.
"She's cute," she told Alena, Miyuki had overheard her parents of course talking about the baby and gathered it was a girl.

Alena giggled softly at Miyuki, startling the little girl, who blinked up at her mother with furrowed brows.
"Thank you," she said warmly. "Would you like to hold her? She's quite content at the moment, I don't think she'll mind."
If the smell of the horses didn't bother her, or the sudden noises that were coming from both the arena and the people around her, Alena was sure that being passed from one person to the next wouldn't bother her either.

Miyuki settled onto the seat, mainly because she was eager to do so.
"Really? I'll be really careful!"
Babies had to be held carefully, she learned that from a children's book.

Alena laughed softly. "I'm sure you will be. Here," she murmured, holding Shiloh in one hand and reaching out to help Miyuki with the other. "You need to hold her like this ..."
She positioned Miyuki so that she was sitting firmly on the seat, arms out for the baby. Then she set Shiloh carefully in Miyuki's arms. "Make sure to hold her firmly, but not too tight," she said. "She can't fidget too much yet, so you shouldn't have to worry too much about her falling, unless you let go."

"I won't let go."
It felt strange holding something that had weight and was alive. Holding a baby was different from holding other things like books or stuffed toys.
Miyuki looked at the baby's face, since the baby was awake this interested her quite a bit.

Shiloh stared right back up at Miyuki, and young though she was, her green eyes were wide with curiosity. Her hands were trapped inside the blanket that was wrapped around her, but she looked as though she were trying to reach for Miyuki. Instead of her hands stretching out, though, her mouth opened and closed as if she was trying to eat Miyuki, despite the fact that no part of the kitsune was near her mouth.
Alena stayed close, watching carefully and smiling warmly.
"She likes you," she murmured. "She's not afraid of you in the least."

Taking her eyes off of Shiloh, Miyuki looked up at Alena, "How can you tell?"
To her it looked like Shiloh was hungry or something, because she kept opening and closing her mouth.

Alena smiled at Miyuki. "That's what she does when she's happy," she explained. "Babies don't know how to smile, they have to learn, so when they're happy they do things that they like to do - she likes to suck on things, so she makes that sort of motion when she's happy."
Inside the blanket, the baby was kicking her feet as well - at least as well as she could being wrapped up and all.
