Death shook his head and then smiled.

"I did eat them, I just guess I forgot to the whole thing..." he said ruefully. He remembered beginning to eat them, but couldn't remember finishing them.

Life giggled as she kissed Death lightly on the cheek. "And why didn't you finish them? Are you trying to break my little heart?" She gives Death a sad face but then breaks out laughing before she starts to eat a little more of her food. She finishes what she had and puts her plate down before turning to face Death. "So now what dear? What do you have in store for us?"

Death was about to protest that he had no intention of breaking her heart at all when he realized she was teasing. With a slight flush, he smiled and shook his head, putting his own plate down, having finished already. He stood and took her hands, pulling her lightly off of the blanket. Waving his own hands, the picnic disappeared, and then he pu a blindfold over Life's eyes.

"Now trust me my love, and I will take you to someplace magical," he whispered in her ear. His hands were on her waist as he guided her to a new place. The only thing that she would feel would be the warm crystal under her feet. He would remove her blindfold when she asked where they were.

Life smiled to him as she saw his reaction to her teasing and when he took her hands to help her stand up she stood and smiled up at him. When he put a blindfold on her she grew a little confused but went along with it. At his words she nodded her head in answer. "I will always trust you love, always!" With his hands on her waist she allowed him to lead her to the new location and when she felt the warmth beneath her feet she tilted her head back as if to look up at him through the blindfold. "Where have you taken me dear?"

Death smiled at the question in her voice, then removed the blindfold.

"I have brought you here..." he said softly. He took off the blindfold and then motioned to the area that they were in. It was a spectacular crystla palace and they were in the middle of it.

As Death removed her blindfold she looked to him with a questioning look but before speaking she looked around her and as she saw the crystal palace surrounding her she gasped. She turned around quickly and jumped into Death's arms and placed a kiss to his cheek and then lips. "Oh my...Its beautiful Death. How did you find this place?"

Death smiled as he held her close, twirling in a circle to make the momentum die before he kissed her forehead. Looking at the palace, he shrugged.

"I found it one day while doing my rounds. I made a vow to bring you back her one day, and now I have. It really is a marvelous place..." he said as he looked at her, his eyes full of love.

Life laughed as she was twirled around in Death's arms. She smiled up to him as he kissed her forehead and just held him. She was so happy and couldn't quite contain it. "It is so beautiful dear, I can't believe that such a places exists. I wonder who made this place, for this couldn't have been made on its own." As they looked each other in the eyes Life felt her heart expanding. She was so happy, she was going to be able to have a family with Death and be a mother. She has tried for so long to hide her sadness as she creates life for others, but never is able to create it for herself, and now that is no more. Her friend and her husband had just given her the most wonderful gift she could ever wish for.

Death shrugged, not really knowing anything about the place aside from the fact that it was gorgeous.

"I really wish that i knew who made it... Because I would thank them profusely for being able to give you this joy," he said with a smile.

Six months later Life was laying in bed with her hand lightly rubbing over her stomach as she suddenly gasps in pain. She looks about the room knowing that Death wasn't there or even in the house because he was busy doing his job. She sent him a quick mental message as she slowly swung her legs over the edge of their bed. 'Death, my love...I-It's time....' Life walked slowly into their bathroom and removed her clothing as she turned the water on and allowed the bathtub to fill up. As she waited she sent a mental message to Mia asking for her to come to her place and help. In response Mia soon appeared in the bathroom next to Life and gave her a smile. Life smiled back as she slowly climbed into the bathtub once it was full. She turned the water off and allowed herself to relax.

Death looked up from the paperwork that he was required to file with each death, and then looked to his suboordinates.

"I must go for my wife is in labour. I will be back in about a week," he said sternly, then disappeared in a flash to the doorway of the bathroom, peering in at Life's pale sweet face. He wanted to know if she was okay, but didn't know how to put it to words.

Life sat in the tub breathing as well as she could through the pain. When she felt Death returning she looked up to him and gave him a smile as she held out her hand to him. She was glad that for now the contractions had stopped. "Oh my love, thank you for coming home. I need you here to help me through this." Life looked to Mia and gave her a small smile. "Mia thank you for coming to help me too. I don't know what to do or what needs to be done."

After a few hours of labor Life was tired but so glad. She held a little baby boy in her arms that looked exactly like his father but had the eyes and skin tone of his mother. She looked to Death, her body still in the bathtub, and smiled up to him. "I can't believe it, we have a son. Thank you so much Mia for this gift." After looking to Mia she looked once more to Death and tried to hide a yawn without success. "Love can you wrap me in my rope and take me to the bed please. I'm really tired and just want to sleep." Her eyes were already closing but her hold on the baby boy never weakened.

Death smiled as he nodded, letting out the water in the tub even as he wrapped Life tightly but gently into a fluffy baby blue bathrobe. He picked her up as he did so, carefully working around their son, then carried her to their bed.

"Anything for you my love," he said softly, laying her on the bed and then laying down too, curling himself protectively around both her and their son. He looked up at Mia and nodded in thanks, his face grateful as he tried to form the words, and finally being able to do so. "Thank you so much for taking care of my wife in the time it took me to get here, and for helping her during the birth..." He watched as Mia merely nodded and then left, and he turned back to Life, stroking her hair out of her face and then kissed her cheek, contentedly humming a lullaby to her and their child.
