It was not long until Aure found herself at yet another fork in the road. The mist was as heavy as it had been at the entrance, and once again, her efforts to see beyond it was in vain. She would have to make another decision blindly, it seems.
This time, however, the choice was simple. What else could she do but to follow the wind? It was her namesake, after all, and her guardian, and it has always led her in the right direction.
Without a hesitation, she continued on to the left, casting her fate to the wind.

Blue Streak bounced down the path until it forked again, then hesitated. She sniffed the air, and her expression scrunched up at the sweltering humidity and heat. But the dry, cold wind was worse; it seemed to steal her words the moment she spoke them.
"Well I don't like how hot it seems because the air presses in on all sides and I feel like I can't even get a full breath in which is awful because I need to breathe to live," she stopped to suck in a breath, "but the cold steals all the sound and it's really cold and I don't like it all that much and I wonder if there really could be a jungle or something in this place and there has to be some interesting vegetation..." her voice faded as she headed down the right path.

Only Forever kept on walking. Though the path was dull it was a good sign that it kept going. Until he hit the fork. Seems like he had chosen the correct way to go and now found himself at another decision. Right? Left?
The taunting voice was still coming from all directions and was no help. He looked right, the air seemed humid, perhaps a forest? He looked left, it was cold that way. Only disliked the cold so he decided to turn right once more.

The path split again up ahead, a detail that earned a scowl from the buck, his languid pace interrupted once more. The heat from the right automatically attracted him, though the scent of vegetation was off-putting, overwhelmingly green and serpentine as it coiled along his muzzle in unseen tendrils. On the left was a chilled absence, wind that clawed at his underbelly, his throat, the tender places he could not defend against an invisible enemy. Under every other clacking demand rang the female's voice, wheedling and expectant, neither ahead nor behind but emanating from all sides. Unripened Heart huffed a sigh under his breath, selecting the right tunnel without further delay. Even if the aroma was barely tolerable, the warmth settled familiarly over his coat, steaming faintly where it made contact with cooler flesh.

Leaves-in-Twilight had made it this far. Still the voice called him on, this time tempting him with new scents and a change in the air. He recognized the heavy, damp scent of the jungle as a cousin to the familiar bogs in his swamp. The dry air down the other tunnel? That intrigued him and he turned to the left, headed down yet another dark passageway.

Eclipse stood at the fork in the path and breathed in deep -- cool air that tingled in his nose in one direction, and hot, fetid, humid air on the left; he could smell living things and growth down the left path. It intrigued him. He stood in place for a moment, lashed his tail once as he made up his mind, and then walked carefully down the left path. This cave was definitely interesting indeed if it contained a jungle.

The young doe was not sure if she had picked the right path as the way seemed to go on nearly forever. She paid little mind to the sound of the other Kimeti around her, fully intent on her target - the one voice that had lured her into the cave where the shadows lived in the first place. Laughing Shadows was nervous when the path came to a turn and she had to select a path once more. Unsure of herself she again took a few steps down each path before returning to the middle to debate with herself on which way to go.
To the left lay cool, dry air. Which didn't make sense given that they were in a cave and she had imagined things would be wetter there. Or at least smell muckier. But then again, the doe reflected, following a voice into a cave didn't really make sense either.
To the right was the heavy heat of the jungle, or so she presumed, given that she had only been in the forest and swamp and the muggy air felt similar. The heat had felt more welcoming than the wind, though, and it confused her that such heat could even be in a cave to begin with. Unless there was a fire or perhaps hot water in it. Hot springs sounded like a nice thing to find. But she wasn't sure and so she sat on her haunches, glancing down each path before finally taking a deep breath and taking a single, tentative step down the right path. The heat of the jungle seemed inviting and she hoped that her instinct wasn't steering her wrong, but she thought she saw fewer shadows down that path and so strode down it with as much caution and care a young doe could possible have.

So far, the path was clear, save for natural occurrences such as rocks which were easily avoided. The voice was still just out of reach; it was a strange occurrence, that as she thought she was getting closer, the voice continued to be just as far away as it had been during her entire pursuit. Always it seemed she would find something in just a few more steps.
Instead, she found another fork, another choice to make. She looked between the two, neither lending her any hints that she could tell. The voice still called just beyond their continuances. Her ears perked again, she took a tentative step towards each with her neck stretched, her nose smelling. Very little was offered to her senses in response. A wind rustled her fur from the left, sending a small chill down her side -- sort of refreshing compared to the heat that emanated from her right. The right had an earthy smell, a deep smell that washed over her lungs, while the left offered no such smell, either nonexistent or too faint for her nose.
She glanced between them again, and her neck veered right, carrying her along the path heavy with heat and the fragrance of earth.

Fiend was brought head-on to another round of decision making. Right, left, right, left. He was indecisive by nature as apparent by his constant in-between state of apperance. Look at his hooves for mighty sake! Though his hair was his secret guilty pleasure. He preened. He was one attractive mother ******** and would slay Nimue's frightful nature.
Venturing deeper into the mist, he took a swift right

The Right Fork:
The branch on the right gets darker and wilder, hung with heavy branches, vines that dip low into the path, plants and undergrowth that obscure the way beneath hooves.
It is beautiful, but it is also dangerous. Within steps, all the Kimeti who chose to go down this way are lost, even as the fog retreats and leaves them able to see again.
One lucky Kimeti finds himself tumbling through undergrowth, ducking under vines, through something like a hidden doorway --
elvyralani / Only Forever - 19 There he is greeted by Merlin himself, looking at him sternly and shaking his head. He leads the hapless buck out the back, and they meet someone along the way...
The rest follow the path more travelled, following it to the left. There they are greeted by a pack of snarling, angry lynxes, who give chase down back the way they have come and out.
Three of them catch hooves in pits and fall along the way:
Loki Saimar / Laughing Shadows - 4 Lady_Ourania / Unripened Heart - 5 endejester / Autumns Last Reprise - 5 Only to discover that the lynxes aren't really that wild, and to successfully befriend them, finding a safer route away.
The rest are locked out alone.
fluorescein / Fiend - 10 Darkmoon Dancer / Manslaughter - 10 lostandtold / Blue Streak - 11 Mika_Yumi / Dew Drop Sun - 12
OOC: Everyone who took the right path -- you're out, I'm sorry, the maze ends here for you! You will end up back at the beginning of the maze, but now it is closed, there is no way to reenter.
However, the top roll and three lowest rolls for this round have won some prizes:
elvyralani ***PM blue two colors and two adjectives for a free semi-custom kimeti!
Loki Saimar, Lady_Ourania and endejester ***PM blue with your favorite color or kimeti for a free lynx familiar!

The Left Fork:
Those who chose to take the left fork:
anemosagkelos / Lull in Sunlight Dyslexic Rat / Water's Grace Huni Pi / Evening Hush Illusei / Aura Marushii / Skybled phoenix kiss / Eclipse Samuel Carlin / Leaves-in-Twilight
Will find the path splitting once again before them. Nimue's voice is in the distance, taunting and luring still.

The path to the right echoes hollowly like wood under hoof. The path on the left is muffled, like moss over stone.
Which one do you choose?

Lull stood thinking over the sounds and feel that each fork radiated. There was no clear choice and she stilled, eyes looking from one to the next with obvious indecision. She looked to the right, echoes again but this time like walking over a fallen log. She wasn't sure she liked that idea. She turned her gaze to the left, ears pricking upright trying to determine the sound. Unable to make it out, and wanting very much now to know what it was, Lull headed to the left. Perhaps she would run into the voice that kept whispering by taking this route. Then again perhaps not, it was quite hard to tell.
