If S'kagi was patient and methodically accurate, S'in was a natural, though then again, he was a weyrbrat, unlike the shy Crimson rider. He glanced over at F'ren with a wry look, adjusting his own leathers quickly without even bothering to look. He just seemed to 'know', and, rather true to himself, he didn't make much fuss about it either, just did up what he needed to and gave Linnaeth a gentle jostle with his shoulder.
"You alright, F'ren?" He called over, quietly. He'd expected F'ren to do better than anyone, he was so interested in neatness and order, which made the troubles the other boy was having surprising.

F'ren looked over at S'in, "er.. yes S'in, just... Zevra again, he's muddled me up for the day i think" he said blushing his embarassment that one small Silver flit could have gotten him so flustered, he closed his eyes for a minute and breathed deeply.
"Does that feel right Toulonth Love?" "No Mine, it hurts just under here" she said lifting a foreleg up where the strap was twisted underneath the 'armpit'
He sighed and unbuckled the strap, smoothing it out before trying again, he figured he would work on his flying jacket once Toulonth's harness was fitted right.

"Don't worry," K'ro assured the younger green rider quietly, "you've got time yet. Take a breath and step back to have a look at how the harness is now; that's why I did when I'd got muddled, getting a look at the whole picture was a big help." It was a little tempting to try to reach in and actually help, but for one that wouldn't help F'ren in the long run, and for another no two dragon's straps were quite the same; thanks to her very skinny build, Viridith's buckles were in slightly different places to Toulonth's, different enough to mix him up while he was still a beginner for sure.

F'ren smiled at K'ro, having just done what he suggested, what both he AND Toulonth had suggested, "Okay, i think i remember, thanks K'ro" he said breathing a sigh as he thought he really DID have it this time. It helped that Toulonth was also instructing him as to where felt 'right' as he restrapped the harness.
[edit for roll] However it seemed he was doomed to failure as yet again Toulonth informed him that something was still not right, and it was loose too.

F'ren was close to breaking point... he just couldn't seem to get it right, and if he couldn't remember now, well he'd be utterly useless when Thread came, and Toulonth would be forced to stay inside, and not fight what she was born to fight, if HE, her rider couldn't even fit her Harness on right, how on earth was he supposed to FLY in a wing right. He bit his lip and tried again.

The more times he got it wrong the more worked up F'ren was getting, and the more worked up he was getting the more likely he was to make a mistake; it was a vicious circle he couldn't do an awful lot about other than make reassuring comments. "It's fine," he assured F'ren, giving the younger rider's shoulder a brief squeeze, "first time you've done this under pressure, right? At least I've had practice with something vaguely similar before. You'll get it down, and once you've got it right once it'll be easier the next time."

F'ren's heart pounded as he felt a hand squeeze his shoulder, he had been so focussed on trying to get the straps right he hadn't heard K'ro's first words. He snapped to attention before he realised, blowing out a big sigh of relief that it WASN'T O'rer. "K'ro you almost gave me a heart attack" he said, laughing a little at himself "Yeah, we've always had plenty of time to put our Harnesses on, and my Flit this morning .. GRRR! he said, breathing deeply a few times "Okay Toulonth .. lets try again" while mentally .. "Pleeeease by Faranth's shell let me get it right", he kept the thoughts from Toulonth, she only worried , though some of his feeling leaked out. "you can do it Mine, just try and think, do it bit by little bit and you will remember"

"Sorry," K'ro flashed the youth a brief smile, "didn't mean to..." The straps were still tangled. He could see that they were wrong, but not quite why or where. He hoped O'rer didn't arrive too soon...
"He as not started going around yet. I will tell you when he does."
"Thanks Viri," K'ro turned to smile warmly at his dragon before turning his attention back to F'ren. "Viridith's keeping an eye on the O'rer," he said softly, "he won't be sneaking up on you; one less thing to worry about at least." It wasn't a lot, but he hoped it gave the other greenrider at least a bit of reassurance.

F're groaned, again he'd gotten the straps wrong, "It's alright K'ro, glad it was only you" he said flashing him a brief, charming smile.
"Oh!" he exclaimed "Thank you K'ro, thank you Viridith" he said, very grateful to the both of them, returning to the harness he clenched his jaw tight, hopefully this time he'd get it right, and he'd ave time to straighten out his flying Jacket too.

Most of the other Weyrlings seemed to be getting their leathers on fairly well... except for F'ren. Despite wanting to go over and help him out, she also didn't want to draw anymore attention to the poor greenrider (who was already getting way too much attention as it was) and thus hung back. Wherrybrain, O'rer's going to have his hide if he doesn't get it right soon. He's already going to be in trouble for being so late. This clearly wasn't his day.
He is stressing too much, Lifth said simply, also watching the repeated failed attempts. He is only messing himself up further.
Well, they say experience is the best teacher, G'brel remarked back, sending a faint encouraging smile F'ren's. Not that he would notice it, but it couldn't hurt.

Leathers were flying, a green firelizard was flying (though not entirely of her own accord) bed furs were flying.
What seems to be the problem?
"We're NOT flying! That is the sharding problem! Did you forget what today was?"
Silence greeted the young silverrider for a moment, then a disgruntled snort while Kelvari continued to dig around.
Of course not. Sakath finally said, watching his rider tear their part of the room they shared with S'kagi and Luvith apart with some amusement. What are you looking for?
"Those helpful little things called flying leathers, you know the ones that go on you so I can stay where I am supposed to be while you and the ground become nodding acquaintences. " Kelvari snapped back, sending another pillow flying.
Oh. Those are hanging by the door. Where you left them before you passed out last night.
Pausing, Kelvari took a deep breath, then peaked under her arm towards the door.
"Sharditall."
Of course the fardling thing would be right were she left them, she should have more faith in herself. "Ok, point for you Sakath. Now let's get out of here before we both wish we'd never been born!"

Looks like we're late AND unprepared Kelvari. Sakath rumbled, turning his head to scratch along his chin with his back foot.
Next to him, and still fumbling with the leathers she had tried to put on while they ran, Kelvari swatted at the offending foot.
"Stop that! I'm trying to get these on you!"

You appear to be having difficulty, perhaps you should ask for help.
"As if. Just stop moving already!"
I'm not moving, you are just being silly.
"I'm not about to pester someone for help when we've already come in late. If we get in trouble, we get in trouble ok?"
So you say now. I do not wish to get in trouble at all, and I think you should ask for help.

This couldn't get any worse.
Staring at Sakath (who currently had bits of flying straps strung haphazardly around his neck) Kelvari bit back a few bitter tears and pulled the offending pieces off.
Kelvari...
"It's ok, I'll get it eventually." She couldn't help the slight shake in her voice, and she fervently hoped none of the others had heard it. She didn't want help OR pity.
That is silly, others are having trouble too.
Staring at her dragon again, Kel didn't reply with words, but instead pat him gently on the neck while she once again took it from the beginning and tried to put the riding straps on right.
(xD!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!)
Keeping her temper in check, she worked slowly this time. Sakath helpfully remained still unless she asked him to move, and before long the young air finally had themselves assembled for inspection.
